Do you have a source for the larger salary figures you keep adding to Rajinikanth's page? If so, please add it. If not, the 10-15 crore figure should remain, because it is supported by a reliable reference, and a sourced number is preferable to an unsourced one here. Thanks. Speedy deletion nomination of File:Busy Roads.jpg

A tag has been placed on File:Busy Roads.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. nn123645 (talk) 08:00, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Rajini in thalapathi.jpg

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Rajini in thalapathi.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 13:00, 10 June 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 13:00, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

License tagging for File:Rajini in Robot.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Rajini in Robot.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 13:10, 15 August 2010 (UTC)

File copyright problem with File:Rajini in Robot.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Rajini in Robot.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Sreejith K (talk) 11:26, 17 August 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Sandhya 1.jpg

A tag has been placed on File:Sandhya 1.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Plese do not start "criticism" sections or instert "good article"

Please do not add "criticism" sections to articles such as you have done to Rajinikanth. It is against the manual of style and our rules about content about living people. Any "critique" should be integrated within the standard article content and not pulled out. Active Banana (bananaphone 14:54, 24 February 2011 (UTC)

Also you have apparently repeatedly inserted the "good article" tag {good article} into the article. Please stop. There are criteria that a "good article" must meet, and a formal process for determining whether those criteria have been met. Rajinikanth article has not gone through that process and does not come close to meeting the criteria.Active Banana (bananaphone 14:58, 24 February 2011 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:Rajini in Padayappa.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Rajini in Padayappa.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "mycontributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Fair use rationale for File:Rajini_in_Athisayapiravi.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Rajini_in_Athisayapiravi.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page. If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? feydey (talk) 12:10, 25 February 2011 (UTC)

Rajinikanth

Hi Vensatry. I am finding you of late doing more good stuffs on Rajinikanth. I respect it. Please note that his name in Marathi should come after his English - pronunciation "shivaji rao Gaekwad" ONLY. So please dont mismatch it. If you do so, again there will be edit war's on bringing Kannada tag. I am not against kannada tag. But that will be wrong in quoting Rajinikanth, becoz rajinikanth was a name kept for acting in Tamil movies by KB. Since his real name was from Marathi, it should be used after shivaji rao, like in the present form. Hope you reach me. !! Ungal Vettu Pillai (talk) 03:05, 5 March 2011 (UTC)

Rajini

Hi Vensatry. You are doing some good efforts in bringing Rajinikanth article with complete info. But at the same be extra cautious here. Becoz wikipedia has its own forum for editing articles. I doubt the new image you updated removing the previous ones shows you are over excited. 1) The flick image you updated has serious copyright concerns. (Look on its corresponding Wikipedia Commons page: The image was however no longer available on Flickr, and its copyright status thus undeterminable.) Note here very very carefully. The License Tag Shows: @All Rights Reserved. and Privacy: This Photo is visible to everyone. (ONLY visible in flickr legally approved, so it indicates for not any other purpose of use outside flickr.) 2) The Sivaji (2007) image you added now was already there before 6 months, i guess. Some editors (admin or re-viewer removed it from the article after discussion.)

Why am I saying all these to you. Even I myself faced a tough time finding wiki rules & policies at first. So do not edit plainly and blind. Keep all factors & issues related and do edits more carefully. Soon or later again there is going to be a serious concerns on the images you added & possibly again it might even be removed. My advice is try to look for images for free. Ex: We already have free image of Rajini in Enthiran audio in Mumbai. And the other 3 non-free image rationale (Athisaya piravi, Padayappa, Chandramukhi) you added was legally approved by an administrator. So we are safe and legitimate, legally correct if you have those images back again. But now I am afraid there is going to be some serious questions to be raised by some administrators, rollbackers, reviewers etc., To my knowledge on long term goal update articles so that you give no chance for anyone to raise questions. And dealing images be very very careful on copyright & licenses. I faced a tough time from admins, rollbackers, re-viewers for something I did in this same rajinikanth article = what you have done now. Just bringing it to your attention. Do not feel anything bad. We all here for some good work. Edit more more seriously from now. ---- Ungal Vettu Pillai (talk) 06:16, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Rajini in Athisayapiravi.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Rajini in Athisayapiravi.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. It can be done but it requires a lot of work and lots of editing. If we were to submit Rajinikanth for a good article review right now it would surely fail. That is not his own website. Even if it was, we cannot use a website that is owned by him, or any other fan website because it fails WP:VERIFY. Also, stop reverting his birthdate to 1949, that is a factoid. This video shows Rajinikanth's own brother stating (in Tamil) his actual birthdate. EelamStyleZ (talk) 21:32, 26 March 2011 (UTC)

The Aamir Khan image has nothing to do with whatever is written in the article. Sure, it was taken during Enthiran's promotion, but the section is specifically speaking about Rajini's involvement in Enthiran. The Aamir Khan image deviates from the topic. Also, Baba is not only a controversial film, but it was unsuccessful and got poor reviews and had a poor box office outcome. That isn't the case with the "controversial" Kamal Haasan films in his notable filmography section. Kamal received an award for Vettaiyaadu Vilayadu and it did well at the box office; the same goes for Virumaandi which had good reviews for its script and became internationally recognized. However, I don't agree with all the movies in Kamal Haasan's notable filmography section. Many enthusiasts/fans keep adding more and more films blindly to that list, it needs to be cut down. Kamal Hassan Malayalam movies

I haven't watched much of Kamal Hassan's Malayalam movies as most of them are not easily available and are never screened in television. Kanyakumari is one of the four or five movies that I miss in my K.S.Sethumadhavan movie collection. I guess the film might be a near offbeat drama like many of his films. It was screened a couple of times in a Malayalam channel (Victers - education chanel), one very recently but didn't get a chance to watch it. I hope to get its CD soon and complete my collection. The film Yaetta is a triangular love story. Two women (Sheela and Seema) getting attracted to Kamal Hassan. Its not that a great movie but has got some really good (and ofcourse hot) scenes. Its very sad that you haven't watched Madanolsavam. I have seen many Tamil fans of Kamal speaking about this movie. Its a must watch romantic tragedy and was the biggest hit for Kamal in Malayalam. The film is a copy of Arthur Hiller's Love Story (1970 film) (I got this info from wiki and later watched the original). Zareena Wahab's climax dialogue beginning with "Raju.. Kiss Me." - I would say its the most memorable climax scene for any movie. Another notable film is Alavudheenum Albhuthavilakkum, based on the famous Arabian folk tale (Alavuddeen and the magic lamp. I think its from the 1001 Nights). The Rajinikanth-Kamal Hassan starrer was not at all well executed but is a commendable one for its star cast. Another film I've watched (long back) is Satyavan Savithri but I don't even remeber the theme of the movie. Ponni is based on my favourote writer's worst novel. I haven't watched the film but the novel was a crap eventhough it has got a cult following. Probabily, the best known Malayalam movie of Kamal Hassan after Madanolsavam will be Daisy. Another romantic tragedy, the film has Kamal Hassan playing a lesser but important role. And there is a latest Malayalam movie named Four Friends. If you ever create a list of worst Kamal Hassan movies, place this film at the top.

I want Madanolsavam to be included in the notable filmography section of the article. Not just because its my personal favourite. It was Kamal's biggest hit in Malayalam and has got a dedicated cult following. Moreover, it was a trendsetter in Malayalam cinema as well as film music. -- Arfaz (talk) 09:14, 13 April 2011 (UTC)

  • Friend, that was strictly my opinion about those movies. You asked me about the storyline and I replied thats all. I peronally dislike the movie Yaetta, so is Hey Ram or Dashavatharam. That doesn't mean Yaetta is not a notable movie or anything. I have seen several critics including that movie in the set of trendsetter movies of Malayalam.

The film Alavudheenum Albhuthavilakkum is an original movie as far as I know. When I watched it, I never felt it was a dubbed one. But when you asked, Iam a bit confused because the style of that movie is more Tamil than Malayalam. I think it may be a bilingual one made in Malayalam and dubbed in Tamil.

The movie Yaetta is not an adult film but ofcourse the film deals with that content and ofcourse there are certain scenes. I watched it long back and not very sure about the plot. But it is usually screened in televisions. So i will try to improve the article after watching it once more.

And why are the movies Aakali Rajyam and Indrudu Chandrudu included in the list? I haven't even heard of those movies. The former is a remake of Tamil film starring Kamal Hassan which might be a lot more famous than the Telegu version. (and I have watched that) So I strongly feel that the list is a bit biased towards Telegu cinema. IMO, the movies that should be included in the notable filmography section should be those movies that have given a break for Kamal in his career (which will surely include Kanyakumari and Yaetta, the former was mentioned by the actor himself as a career break and the latter gave him the romantic hero image. The movie Ek Duje Keliye that gave him break in Hindi should be included). And we must include the movies that established him as a great methodist actor (is it 16 Vayathinile?) and the movie that set the beginning of a series of comedy films. The film which featured Kamal Hassan in variety roles (like Apoorva Sagodharargal) and landmark films in respective industries (both Malayalam films mentioned, 16 Vayathinile, Sigappu Rojakal etc). Box office figures can also be considered (the only reason why Dasavatharam can be included). And is there a reason why the movie Vettadu Vilayadu is included while the cult film Anbe Sivam is excluded from the list. -- Arfaz (talk) 03:43, 14 April 2011 (UTC)

  • Yaetta (pronounced Eetta) is the Malayalam word for bamboo!! And as far as I know, Kamal's sex appeal was used for the first time (and at a maximum extent) in that movie. Thats why I said it gave him the romantic hero image. And if Kamal himself has mentioned Kanyakumari as an important film in his filmography, no reasons you have given will be enough to remove that. And may be he use to comment on this movie or Yaeta or Madanolsavam only in interviews with Malayalam media. That may be because he knows that Malayalam (also Kannada) movies have no reach outside Kerala. If Hey Ram, which was a box office bomb and received either negative/positve (no average or mixed) reviews can be included, Kanyakumari and Yeatta which received critical acclaim and were box office winners can surely be included. At present, I cannot comment on his Telegu films because I haven't watched even a single of that. Also, consider including Anbe Sivam in the list. I will back you if you start a discussion for that. Awards are a testimony for inclusion but not necessary if the film has achieved cult status. -- Arfaz (talk) 06:42, 14 April 2011 (UTC)

Rajini

No, they are not encyclopedic information and don't follow wp:mos rules. It said Rajini was the first actor to be mentioned in a school textbook, which was unsourced. Also, many people around the world have described Rajini, a local radio station in NYC speaking about Rajini is not notable enough to be mentioned here. The Rajinikanth article is now a GA so you should work towards maintaining the article to keep up with GA requirements. No more childish edits with it. EelamStyleZ (talk) 15:05, 15 April 2011 (UTC)

Also, you should have asked before using my header template on your talk page. EelamStyleZ (talk) 15:06, 15 April 2011 (UTC)
Loyola College rating was quite notable when it was done in '08 and helps buffer the article to maintain a neutral point of view. EelamStyleZ (talk) 12:30, 16 April 2011 (UTC)
Um, no because thats not an award, nomination, or recognition. Not everything has to go in every article. You should spend some time going over WP:N and some of the user-made essays listed in this template: {{Essays on building Wikipedia}}.EelamStyleZ (talk) 01:01, 17 April 2011 (UTC)
By the way, the debate about what movies should be selected for "notable filmography" lists at Talk:Kamal Haasan sounds interesting enough that I've brought it up at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Film/Indian cinema task force. Please share your thoughts there. EelamStyleZ (talk) 14:04, 17 April 2011 (UTC)
Whatever, it's a copyedit. Nothing's wrong with the source about Rajini's career break. And yes, I removed a lot of dead links. Don't worry too much about it. EelamStyleZ (talk) 18:28, 17 April 2011 (UTC)

I leave references bare so that I can format them with a tool later, but I haven't got to that yet for the recent changes. And you don't have to keep reporting back to me, just go ahead and fix mistakes once you see them. Also, if you include anything, just make sure it flows in chronological order of his career path. You can add more about his Bollywood career if you like but don't just write a "note" about it. Speak about any specific films and keep them at the right time slots. Otherwise, I'm sure people can understand how many movies Rajini did in each language just by seeing his filmography page. For that matter, you can add that Bollywood note to the filmography page at the top. EelamStyleZ (talk) 03:04, 18 April 2011 (UTC)

Trichy

Thanks for the request. There are too many unreliable references and too many images. Some time back, I tired to do some copy editing. However, there is always some user adding irrelevant text. Even to promote it to "B" , the references have to be mostly from book sources and government websites (nic or the state govt) and not from any tourism websites or web sites of individuals. If this is done, it could even be posted for GA upgrade directly without a B upgrade. --Nvvchar. 08:21, 16 April 2011 (UTC)

Criticism

Criticism is fine but double check Wikipedia:Criticism. When it comes to Rajinikanth, refrain from adding a separate section about criticism. Just insert any criticism wherever it may fall in the article at present (eg. if the criticism is talking about his performance in Enthiran, then add that next to the paragraph which speaks about Enthiran in the Career section). It's generally recommended to avoid making sections on criticism and controversy. In the case of Kamal Haasan, criticism of him is quite unique. And which criticism removal are you talking about? I removed a lot of stuff that was purely copied and pasted from its sources, and generally blatant and unnecessary comments/words. EelamStyleZ (talk) 17:51, 19 April 2011 (UTC)

Actually yes, I remember there used to be a critcism section in the Rajinikanth page, but that was deleted because it showed clear POV and listed general criticism, rather than artistic or specific criticism. Again, such sections should be avoided when the specific points can be included in other respective sections. And there's no need to detail linguistic abilities of the two. That is highly trivial information. EelamStyleZ (talk) 03:07, 20 April 2011 (UTC)
Nonetheless, it's trivial, even if that may not be a criteria for FA (FA usually looks for "complete" articles, but doesn't necessarily mean jamming every bit of information in articles). A majority of actor pages don't include languages they know, since it's a bit common to see notable South Indians fluent in more than one language, since India is a country of numerous languages. EelamStyleZ (talk) 19:21, 22 April 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion tagging of Deepa Unnimary

Although I do agree that it should be deleted, I was surprised that you added the A1 and A3 tag along with A7. A1 tags are for articles which don't identify the subject of the article, and clearly it states that the article is based on an actress. It is confusing sometimes, and I have seen NP Patrollers who put A1 tags in articles that are just too small and not realising that the subject of the page is known. Also, A3 tags are for articles that have no content at all, such as those only having links, a rephrasing of the title or category tags. In that case all I could see was a couple of sentences, which is content. Anyway, you did get the A7 right, but the A1 and A3 tags were wrong. Minima© (talk) 08:06, 25 April 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletions

Please do not add speedy tags to existing referenced articles like you did here. Yes the article needs work but if you have a problem with it take it to AFD. As for you being a member of WP:Actors and Filmmakers (a project established by myself), this is not how we treat fellow members, we collaborate. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 08:21, 25 April 2011 (UTC)

Then always redirect if its a different spelling and notify the creator of the error rather than speedy! I've merged it and add some and a poster. The articles were started in a batch, assuming they were all Malayalam. I'm responsible for most of the lists we have on Indian films but I count on people like you to identify errors and expand the stubs. Can you go through Category:Films directed by Mohan and identify any films which are not Malayalam and let me know?♦ Dr. Blofeld 08:38, 25 April 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion reasons for Sathya ganeshan

I noticed that you tagged Sathya ganeshan for speedy deletion for the second time, but I found the given reasons lacking. The article is clearly sufficient to identify the subject, and since a non-notable blogger of that name probably exists, it's not patent nonsense either. Deletion under a7 had been declined once before. I removed those reasons, but left the claim of advertisement in the article, though that's not really convincing either. Is there any reason not to wait until the AfD has run its course? Huon (talk) 09:01, 25 April 2011 (UTC)

I've removed the Speedy that Huon left--it doesn't appear to be blatant advertising; rather, it just looks like we have someone who is almost certainly not notable. However, non-notability is not a criteria for speedy deletion. Since there's only 3 days left, let's just let the AfD run. Generally speaking, once an AfD is open, it's better to let it run the course, unless it's one of the really bad CSD criteria like an attack page or a copyright violation, or if it looked like the AfD had been opened just to game the system (to give a blatantly deletable article 7 days of life). Qwyrxian (talk) 09:13, 25 April 2011 (UTC)
And when I look up at the 2 previous sections, it looks like you may want to review the general rules for WP:Speedy deletion as well as the specific criteria. It may not be obvious at first, but the standards to not be speedily deleted are actually quite low. Qwyrxian (talk) 09:15, 25 April 2011 (UTC)

Devaraj Mohan and Mohan (director)

The IMDB listing of both the directors are dubious. I have removed the films I found in this list as Devaraj Mohan's films from the filmography of Mohan (director). But there was a problem with the film Aaru Manikkoor. It is a dubbed version of a Tamil film by Devaraj Mohan. Can you help me out to find the original release name of that film? You can get some useful informations about that movie here. -- Arfaz (talk) 10:02, 25 April 2011 (UTC)

I think the original film is URAVADUM NENJAM (1976). In order to confirm, can you compare the songs from both the films? Here are the links: URAVADUM NENJAM songs and Aaru Manikkoor songs. The raaga.com link is not working here, thats why. -- Arfaz (talk) 10:30, 25 April 2011 (UTC)

URAVADUM NENJAM itself is the original movie of Aaru Manikkoor. The songs are reused in the Malayalam version with different singers. When I searched in different online forums, I got the same info. So I'm redirecting the page Aaru Manikkoor to URAVADUM NENJAM. I have no idea about the director/director duo Devaraj Mohan. But I guess Mohan (director) is not related with Devaraj Mohan in any way because The Hindu and Malayala Manorama have published lot of articles/interviews on him, but none of them have ever mentioned this. Also, Mohan's films are exclusively made for Malayalaee audiences and I don't think he will make a Tamil movie. And about the movie Alavudheenum Albuthavilakkum, let me watch it once again to confirm. -- 13:43, 27 April 2011 (UTC)

Filmography

Mammootty and Mohanlal filmographies are bad examples, and so is Jackie Chan's. They are bombarded with so much information that makes it difficult to navigate through and are completely non-notable. Please don't mimic those pages when working on Rajinikanth's filmography. A better example would be Kamal Haasan's or any other well-edited Bollywood actor like Shahrukh Khan's page. EelamStyleZ (talk) 15:58, 28 April 2011 (UTC)

Yeah I guess that's fine but needs a little cleaning (italicize titles, remove rowspans, maybe come up with a better unifying chart, etc.). I'll let you continue with improving that. EelamStyleZ (talk) 03:12, 29 April 2011 (UTC)

Vaazhve Maayam

I got that info from a television programme about Sathyan, screened in a Malayalam channel a few days back. They clearly said that Sethumadhavan's Vazhve Mayam was remade in Tamil with the same title in 1982 and Sathyan's role was played by "none other than" Kamal Haasan. A few scenes from both the films were also shown. -- Arfaz (talk) 11:48, 30 April 2011 (UTC)

Sheela played the heroine role in Vazve Mayam. Sathyan played Sudhi and Sheela played Sarala. The film was based on Ayyaneth's (popular Malayalam writer) novel of the same name. -- Arfaz (talk) 14:16, 30 April 2011 (UTC)

Have you wathced the Tamil movie? If yes, can you please share the story of that movie? I will detail the plot of the Malayalam movie (which I got from the song book of the film), since I don't think this story can be remade in Tamil that too with the romantic couples Kamal and Sridevi. And there is no third leading lady in the Malayalam movie (Sripriya as you mentioned). After Sheela's character, the only important female character is that of Khadeeja, who played a negative role. The story is as follows: Newly married couples - leading happy life - but husband suspicious about the wife - once happened to see a man running out of his house at suspicious circumstances - accuses wife of adultery - wife forced to leave the house - husband later discovers he was wrong - wants to bring his wife back - but the wife's family had already conducted her marriage with a widower - husband becomes lunatic and deliberately indulges in alcohol - years later - wife's letter informing their daughter's marriage - and an unexpected climax.
A usual theme of Sethumadhavan movies, I cannot even think this movie with Kamal and Sridevi. What if the channel was wrong? Eventhough they showed scenes from both the films, they were entirely different. Sathyan was with a long beard and looked aged and pathetic while the young Kamal was wooing Sridevi. Please detail me the plot of the Tamil movie. Lets remove that data if that's not right. -- Arfaz (talk) 16:29, 30 April 2011 (UTC)

Most books are available on the internet. Even though you may not get full previews of books in copyright, you might still get "Snippet Views" and "Partial Previews" on Google Books. See [2]. By the way, most books published prior to 1870 are available for download in Google Books in PDF format. For example, see [3]. Additionally, you may also search amongst articles in The Hindu and The New Indian Express. The Hindu digital archives collection stretches from 2000 onwards. You may also search for news clippings from The New York Times archives available here which has an article collection dating back to 1851.-The EnforcerOffice of the secret service 09:09, 3 May 2011 (UTC)

Multiple wikilinking

Per this, it appears you are overly-linking topics in the Thiruchirappalli article. Just a heads up, Wikipedia advises not to link a topic more than once under the same heading. It's also a strict rule for WP:GA, which I think you are trying to bring the article towards. See WP:MOSLINK on rules about adding links. EelamStyleZ (talk) 17:25, 7 May 2011 (UTC)

Also, see WP:MOS on when and when not to add italics to a term. If you want to bring that article to a WP:GA you should cooperate with User:Ravichandar84 and discuss his requests, instead of blindly reverting. Edit-warring also prevents an article from gaining GA status. EelamStyleZ (talk) 17:30, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
See, you've just added a paragraph about the HAPP and never bothered to source every claim. Please don't wholesome content to the article if you cannot source it. I've reduced it to a single line. Besides, there is no need to add so much stuff about HAPP. One of the basic GA criteria is that articles should be broad in their coverage. Now the "Economy" section contains a lot about industries in Trichy and almost nothing about other sources of income. And if you really wanna contribute something, I'd suggest that you better do some research. There is no use adding or removing full stops and commas (and that too, in wrong places). There are experienced copy-editors with a wide knowledge of Wiki rules who can do that.-The EnforcerOffice of the secret service 18:24, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
For newspaper articles, pls use the template cite news and not cite web. It is necessary to maintain uniformity in the article.-The EnforcerOffice of the secret service 18:27, 7 May 2011 (UTC)

Tamil Cinema and Marlon Brando

It is not a question of Marlon Brando's image in the section but Sivaji's. So, it is proper to post the image of Sivaji and Marlon under the section. It also is a significant evidence that Kollywood was influenced by Hollywood even in the early days. Cheers! User:Suriya.karthi2011 (UTC)

Filmfare Awards

Hey, awesome work buddy! I really hope the additions you made are true now. I am not able to view the entire page from Google Books, but just a small part of the page and check the facts, but I will trust you. I don't think we will be able to extract anything more from Google Books either. Anyway, this has been a great effort, thanks a lot! I know how hard this searching is, I just gave after some time. I hope we can get an official complete database with the full list of winners from Filmfare soon, which would solve all problems. For now, this is more than enough! Well done! Johannes003 (talk) 17:54, 17 May 2011 (UTC)

Yes, they maintain a complete archive of the Hindi awards, but sadly there is no such database for the Southern awards. I tried contacting them (via the Filmfare website and their Twitter account), requesting for help, without any success so far. We will have to try further. Also did you check the Tamil Nadu State Film Awards pages, they are as incomplete as the Filmfare lists. Went through the official site of the Tamil Nadu Government hoping to find a database as the one Kerala state is maintaining, but couldn't find any such either. Johannes003 (talk) 09:23, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
Ah, no that's not a good source. I think, I discussed this with some editor earlier too. It is published by Books LLC and contains text taken from Wikipedia, so this would create circular sourcing. We can't use that book. Contacting Filmfare directly seems the only way. Johannes003 (talk) 17:26, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
That might be possible. I know that awards for best supporting artists, music and lyrics were introduced very late, not sure about other awards. Nothing is clear about these awards. Did you search for books by Times of India? I'm can't do anything with the results I'm getting. You mean these "Directory and year book including Who's Who", don't you? They might be quite useful. I think your concern is about writing names of people in different scripts in biographical articles. ARR's Oscars

Hello, this is about the image of A. R. Rahman after winning his oscars. The oscars he won were for a Bollywood/Hollywood bilingual film and had nothing to do with Tamil Cinema. So, as far is Tamil Cinema is concerned, the image of him recieving the Platinum disc for his debut composition in Roja seems to be more appropriate. It also emphasised on the fact that his first album was in Tamil and he is a Tamilian by birth. Cheers! Secret of success (talk) 17:29, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

Hi, why shouldn't the awards of a person be mentioned in a page? I see no wrong in that and Wikipedia encourages neutral and correct facts to be written. So, if there are too many awards won, there are separate articles. But if there are neither too less and nor enough awards to be published in a separate article, I see no other way but to mention it all. They have to be mentioned in a detailed website like Wikipedia and I don't see proper justification in excluding the un-important ones. Cheers! Secret of success (talk) 21:19, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
Yes, I understand that every information is getting jammed but it can be provided in a simple manner, say like in the main article "Kamal Haasan has won about 180 awards in total and holds the record for an Indian winning maximum awards" so that the truth is reached and people get to know it. Similar for Harris too. You don't have to mention the award but just vaguely describe it. When a person wants a particular piece of information, the first thing he/she does is come to wikipedia. So, the facts must be accurate, right? How would you feel if you don't get credit for some lifetime achievements you've done? I'm sure this is what the administrators feel. And I have to say that I have been doing my edits seriously. By adding correct information, does it mean that I am not serious?? Secret of success (talk) 21:35, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
About the image of A.R.R, there is nothing wrong in placing the academy awards, but the image of him receiving the platinum disc seems more appropriate for the article. So, wouldn't it be better if it is placed? Cheers! Secret of success (talk) 13:11, 2 June 2011 (UTC)

Ilayaraja

Great mate. I took so much efforts in finding a pic for the maestro for all these times and you have come with good. But it would have been really nice if the 'bollywood hungama' logo is hidden out. Instead of nothing, it is better though. nice. ---- Ungal Vettu Pillai (talk) 10:39, 29 May 2011 (UTC)

hi. also note is bollywood hungama copyright-free online site? I doubt it?. Make sure the other suriya pics also is fully free usable images. I think they might have some sort copyright protected images. Also it will be more more good if the logo is not there in the middle of the pics. ---- Ungal Vettu Pillai (talk) 10:46, 29 May 2011 (UTC)

User page

Hello, I am terribly sorry about the design in my user page. A hacker had been gaining access to my account and I had not visited my user page for some time. I guess it was he who had seen your name in my talk page and copied your design. I am very sorry about this and assure you that it would not happen again. I have not copied designs and I never will. I have changed my password and he would not meddle with my account anymore. secret of success (talk) 18:11, 29 May 2011 (UTC)

Per above, looks like that's been cleared up. Oh, and no edit warring please, User:Secret of success - Assume good faith! :) EelamStyleZ (talk) 16:21, 29 May 2011 (UTC)

GA nomination for Aishwarya Rai

Did you not see that it was just quick failed a month ago? The suggested changes were not made yet either. I think you should withdraw this nomination until it is more ready. BollyJeff || talk 11:27, 30 May 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for adding citations, but I hope you know that bare URLs are not going to cut it for GA. BollyJeff || talk 12:27, 1 June 2011 (UTC)
What's the secret? When I run reflinks it just puts in "bot generated title", not all that other stuff. BollyJeff || talk 12:38, 1 June 2011 (UTC)
That's okay, I found it under the interactive tab. BollyJeff || talk 12:52, 1 June 2011 (UTC)
Seems like Sivaji Ganesan should be added to List of members of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, and replace Amitabh in Aish's article. Amitabh received a different award from France. I will make the changes. BollyJeff || talk 14:17, 1 June 2011 (UTC)

Tamil cinema

yes I noticed this IP address user. Honestly, how dare he nominate that page for deletion. His reasons seem totally misinformed and immature. Please do what it takes to keep that page from any biased editing. It's the centerpiece article for all Tamil film related articles that was carefully edited by many good editors before but got changed over time. I'll keep an eye out for it too. EelamStyleZ (talk) 05:13, 31 May 2011 (UTC)

It is not possible for anyone to tag anything for deletion. There are some basic Wikipedia guidelines and as per these guidelines, the article cannot be deleted. As you might observe yourself, the speedy has failed. As for vandalism, I'll check out the article this evening. Any unsummarized revisions and POV added by him will be reverted.-The EnforcerOffice of the secret service 06:51, 31 May 2011 (UTC)

Yes, of course that article has no reason to pass a speedy deletion. I'm only concerned about misinformed editors who would just nominate articles for deletion like that and waste others' times. Their destructive actions are quite a pain in the back for the more honest workers. It may also come as good news that the editor has been banned for sockpuppetry. EelamStyleZ (talk) 10:57, 31 May 2011 (UTC)

I will try! Haven't edited that page before, but the article badly needs to be reworked, so decided to support and improve the page, too. Google Books will be a great help it seems, lot of useful stuff can be taken from there. Johannes003 (talk) 16:04, 31 May 2011 (UTC)

The page looks absolutely horrible at the moment! It needs to be discussed thouroughly how to develop the article, I just don't know where to start and where to end. Johannes003 (talk) 17:09, 31 May 2011 (UTC)

You were right, User:NavelCleavage was a sockpuppet. Clearly they are up to no good here. Close monitoring is required for those articles from now on. EelamStyleZ (talk) 17:56, 31 May 2011 (UTC)

Regarding TN State Awards, I know they aren't given regularly. I also had this doubt that it wasn't given in 70s and 80s for sometime. Is it true then? How do you know? Johannes003 (talk) 10:05, 1 June 2011 (UTC)

GA nomination of Aishwarya Rai

I've requested a thorough copy-edit by the Guild of Copy Editors. Once it is over, I will begin my review.-The EnforcerOffice of the secret service 17:50, 31 May 2011 (UTC)

You are welcome. BY the way, I need a panoramic photograph of Anna Stadium in Khajamalai. Can you take and upload one?-The EnforcerOffice of the secret service 14:28, 1 June 2011 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:Suriya raktacharitra.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Suriya raktacharitra.jpg.

You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Thank you. DMacks (talk) 16:55, 2 June 2011 (UTC)

File copyright problem with File:Surya Raktacharitra.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Surya Raktacharitra.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can verify that it has an acceptable license status and a verifiable source. Please add this information by editing the image description page. You may refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. ww2censor (talk) 02:42, 3 June 2011 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of A. C. Tirulokchandar

The article A. C. Tirulokchandar has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Speedy deletion nomination of File:Trichy.jpg

A tag has been placed on File:Trichy.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Replaceable fair use File:Madhavi 12.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Madhavi 12.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fut.Perf. 20:06, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
