Proposed deletion of Ma Eunjin edit

Hello, Toadell. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Ma Eunjin, for deletion because it's a biography of a living person that lacks references. If you don't want Ma Eunjin to be deleted, please add a reference to the article.

If you don't understand this message, you can leave a note on my talk page.

Thanks,

Idol (Artist) copying content from Japanese idol and Korean idol edit

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Idol (Artist) into another page. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. lullabying (talk) 17:59, 12 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

  • My bad, I took a second look at the article and noticed you linked both Japanese idol and Korean idol as resources. I would still recommend looking at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia for procedures since I'm not sure Wikipedia articles themselves can be used as references. lullabying (talk) 19:06, 12 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hello Toadell, I've added {{copied}} to the article's talk page. Copying within Wikipedia is fine, you don't need to reword the things you copy, you just need to give attribution somewhere (which I have now done, so there's nothing to worry about). Regarding pointing to sources, if you switch over to VisualEditor on both the original page and the new page, you can copy both text and the original sources at the same time. – Thjarkur (talk) 22:50, 12 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia and copyright edit

Hello Toadell, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your additions to Idol (pop culture) have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 01:00, 14 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thai idol moved to draftspace edit

As stated, there are no sources that discuss the "Thai idol" as a concept - note that these are available for the Chinese idol, Japanese idol and Korean idol pages. Before there can be an article about the movement, there must be coverage of the movement as a whole. Moving to draft until sucyh can be provided. True Faith Asociation of Jehovah's Witnesses moved to draftspace edit

An article you recently created, True Faith Asociation of Jehovah's Witnesses, does not have any 3rd party sources sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. JW Statistics edit

I have reverted your recent changes at Jehovah's Witnesses by country and Demographics of Jehovah's Witnesses, for the following reasons:

  • You provided the 'peak' figure for 2020, replacing the average publisher figure for 2020 (both figures can be found in the 2020 Grand Totals). The 'peak' figure is less reliable as it can count individual members twice, as indicated in The Watchtower, 15 August 2011, page 22: "“Peak publishers” is the highest number reporting for any one month of the service year and may include late reports that were not added to the preceding month’s report. In this way some publishers may be counted twice." I have therefore restored the 2020 average publishers figure.
  • You incorrectly gave 3.2% as the rate of increase since 2020. However, the '3.2% increase' is actually the amount by which the 2020 peak figure exceeded the 2020 average figure.

The articles will be updated with figures for the 2021 'service year' after the 2021 report is released at the end of this year or early next year. Thanks.--Jeffro77 (talk) 05:15, 27 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
