Reference column edit
Hi Tennisvine, I noticed you added a separate column to end of Grand Slam finals tables for references, e.g. at Gerald Patterson. While it arguably creates less confusion compared to attaching the reference directly to the score we normally do not use separate columns for references but instead add them to the tournament, see e.g. Tony Wilding career statistics. - Hello User:Wolbo, I saw your previous note on not putting the reference next to the score and agreed that could cause confusion, but it seems to me that putting it next to the tournament name makes it unclear what the ref. is specifically for. It seems to me that the extra column for the ref. is a good solution for keeping it next to the score without confusing it with the score. I will bring it up on the tennis talk page (if I can figure out how to do that - sorry , I'm obviously new here and still trying to find my way around.) Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Dorothy Round Little a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Drmies I've read the section, have you? Particulary this line "Generally, a link should appear only once in an article, but if helpful for readers, a link may be repeated in infoboxes, tables..." So it seems to me that the question of linking on tables is an individual judgement. What I find curious is that of all the tables I've worked on (already linked like the one in question) and all the others on so many tennis pages , Fyunck is suddenly so concerned about this one? Is he just looking to start trouble? If this is such a concern for him, what other tables has he worked on "correcting" recently? Show me where he tried to discuss this with me. I invited all parties to come back to the page Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Tennis/Article guidelines and talk – Fyunck has yet to do so. - A reasonable reading of OVERLINK is that something that's already linked in the article can also be linked in a table (caption, etc.)--not that every single occurrence can be linked. But that's not the main concern here. Look, you started talk page conversations--good, I'm glad you did. But your edits seem to be reverted or opposed by more than one editor and that should tell you something. Rather than charge Fyunck with "bullying", which is a hip catch-all term that in practice usually means nothing, you could change your tone a bit. Now, I could in principle be bullying you, since bullying usually requires that one person has some kind of power over another. Fyunck has no power; as an admin, I do. But saying that I'm joining in with Fyunck's attempt to bully you is silly and not in accordance with the facts; it's more accurate to say that I agree with Fyunck that your style is very confrontational. Drmies I'm confrontational because I got tired of fyunck's "your a newbie and I'm going to tell you how it is" attitude. Look, if your willing to be objective here, then I would be overjoyed to get your perspective on these issues and how best to resolve them, but saying to another editor "I haven't looked at anything yet but I am assuming you're correct" doesn't feel like objectivity. I came here and started editing because I wanted to help make Wikipedia's tennis pages better. That's still all I want to do. If you would be willing, I have some basic questions that I would love to get answers to and perhaps that could help us all to move forward. Let me know.
