You are much too quick on the draw, IMO. I just started to work on the article. I will be adding references and content. Stumbled across this nicely-written new article – thanks for your work on this, Sunray. I've replaced the cn with a reference, plus a few other minor changes, and wikilinked five other pages to the article so that it doesn't get an orphan tag. For what it's worth, my personal technique for evading the "speedy delete" folks is to write new articles (often over a period of weeks) in Notepad, saving as a text file. Occasionally along the way I'll paste it into a WP edit window and do a "Show preview" just to check the syntax, but I don't save the page. Then when it's ready I can publish on WP. I find this works well for me, as I can polish the text at the end, and don't have to worry about some well-meaning editor trying to repair early versions by second-guessing what my half-written prose is supposed to mean.

Don't get me wrong, when I refer to the "speedy delete" people, I must say they do a wonderful job filtering out the constant flow of inconsequential rubbish that Wikipedia seems to attract. It's just that I prefer to save them the trouble of reading through my work before I'm ready to release it.

I'm not suggesting you should change your preferred way of working, just sharing my own experience. Happy that our paths have crossed :) — Hebrides (talk) 20:27, 15 May 2012 (UTC)

You're quite right. It is especially good advice when one writes about a non-mainstream person or topic. It is funny you should mention it, though, because I wrote that article as a knee-jerk reaction when I saw her youtube video of the tar sands fly over with Joanna Macy. I tried to look her up on WP and found no article. You know the rest: I clicked on the red link and began to write. I was amazed at how quickly the Thought Police were on it. It shows how much WP has grown up, but also some cultural changes that can be discouraging, at times. Sniff. I do these things, sometimes, and wonder whether one of these Quick Draw McGraws will learn to distinguish between a real editor and some besotted, one-trick pony. (Sorry about the mixed metaphors; I'm better now, having got that off my chest). :) Sunray (talk)

My guess is we're not going to agree on what constitutes consensus. I'm inclined to post the RFC with the disputed 5 words and without an agreement on consensus (which I think means "standard consensus rules"). Hi! I like the picture of the little girl on the trolley (bus?) at the top of this page. I am writing you for some clarification on your recent edit at Boise, Idaho. I don't really see where in WP:NOT your rationale for deletion lies. I agree that "Cultural References" sections are somewhat trivial (Maybe WP:TRIVIA would have been a better rationale?), but at least at Boise, they serve a purpose. It helps convey the image that Boise has as somewhat of a "Hick" place to live, an image that the locals embrace. BTW, I can probably reference the rest of that list if it will help you see that it has a place in the article. Thanks for all you do here at Wikipedia. I look forward to your reply. Winnipeg

There has been many changes recently to Winnipeg's climate section, and I noticed your comment on the talk page and want to know if the comparisons that have been made are within WP standards. Currently the references are using sources that don't compare the cities but rather just data on the individual city. Edits need to be in understandable and grammatically correct English; also to inform the reader. Saying "this is the small village" makes no sense and adds nothing—the first line of the article already states that Kozhukkully is a village. Perhaps take some English lessons before trying to write in an English language encyclopedia, or try writing in a version of Wikipedia in a different language. Sustainability article

Hello Sunray, The information that I provided for the article on Sustainability was factual and constructive. It provided a "filling out" of the subject which was sorely lacking in the article as the article was written in a way that would mislead the reader. More and more we are living in a world of smoke and mirrors dictated by ideologues who hide their true motives by slanting and half truths. Should a subject be fully honest? The information that I provided does just that; gives a fuller , more accurate definition of Sustainability. Do you want Wikipedia to get the reputation of being a tool for leftist propaganda? Thanks for your note. You are a new contributor to this encyclopedia, and there are some things you need to know about how to edit. You inserted an opinion on the article page. That wasn't the right place for it. Editorial decisions are made by consensus. Many, many editors have worked on this article. They represent a broad variety of perspectives. You would be welcome to add your own views on the talk page (not the article page) where they can be discussed. If you have a worthwhile point about adding to the article and there is consensus, it may be added. However, I am puzzled by your comment about "leftist propaganda."
