Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited World Coming Down, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Chronicles of Chaos. Replaceable fair use File:Sepultura 1992.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Sepultura 1992.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. Hoobastank being largely nu-metal? edit

Hey, I don't like how you made Hoobastank page article more nu-metal oriented. I think that is unfair because the page was never that nu-metal oriented, it used to say nu-metal for the early stuff but it was always largely a post-grunge/alternative article. When you came to edit the page, you made it like Hoobastank were largely nu-metal. They actually aren't. It's just the first self titled album that has some nu-metal influences, your sources only refer to the self titled album. Hoobastank has 5-6 albums, most of their stuff has nothing to do with nu-metal, they are mostly a post-grunge/alternative rock band with some pop rock hooks. I was wondering if it would be okay if I just add nu-metal as being early because most of the stuff from Hoobastank is mostly post-grunge/alternative rock. They don't do nu-metal at all anymore, it was only some sounds in the self titled album but even the self titled album was mostly post-grunge/alternative rock oriented. Can we agree on this or disagree? Also, ignore those links below( Strangeguy91 (talk) 02:45, 17 September 2017 (UTC) )Reply

You did not fix anything by tweaking the non-free use rationale as you did. The band is still active which means its reasonable to expect that a free equivalent can still either be found or created to be used as the primary means of identification per WP:FREER. If you still want to dispute that the file is not replaceable fair use, follow the instructions in the template and use Template:di-replaceable fair use disputed instead. -- Marchjuly (talk) 20:32, 6 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Non-free content use edit

From all of the file-related notifications posted on your user talk page, it appears that you're misunderstanding how non-free files are permitted to be used on Wikipedia under its non-free content use policy. While I believe you're uploading these files in good faith, too many of your uploads seem to have problems. This is only a meant as a friendly suggestion, but you might want to slow down a bit and ask for assistance at either WP:MCQ or WT:NFC before uploading any more non-free content, and probably before uploading any image files in general.

Wikipedia takes copyright stuff pretty seriously and while it's understand that mistakes are going to be made in good faith, repeatedly having your file uploads nominated for discussion at WP:FFD or tagged for speedy deletion per WP:F7, etc. is not going to instill confidence in others that you understand enough about copyright and file licensing matters to be considered competent to upload files. Nobody expects you to be a file licensing expert; however, if your uploads keep getting flagged as problematic, it's going to eventually be seen as disruptive, which in turn may lead to an adminsitrator taking steps to prevent and further disruption. -- Marchjuly (talk) 14:59, 16 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

December 2017 edit

Your recent editing history at Post-punk‎ shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. --Woovee (talk) 00:36, 19 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:21, 25 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Keep in mind that this was their debut record, and when a group has only one release, it's generally okay to generalize a recording with a band description if the dates match up or the content refers to that time period explicitly. dannymusiceditor oops 23:56, 17 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

skate punk edit

this has already been verified : Tim Peacock of Sounds magazine states "In the US, skateboarding culture has long been intertwined with popular music. As early as 1964, Californian duo Jan & Dean recorded ‘Sidewalk Surfin”, an adaptation of The Beach Boys’ ‘Catch A Wave’ with new lyrics associated with skateboarding: a craze which was then taking North America by storm for the first time. In the early-to-mid-80s, however, skateboard-riding punk/hardcore acts such as JFA (Jodie Foster’s Army), Hogan's Heroes, Suicidal Tendencies, Agression, The Offspring and NOFX built sizeable followings on the LA scene, playing a type of music which supercharged punk’s three-chord basics with hardcore’s speed and frat-party humour."[1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Binksternet#skate_punk

December 2022 edit

Your last couple edits included removing sourced genre, and adding a genre without a source at a different article. Why is an editor as experienced as yourself failing to follow our sourcing policies like this? What are you doing? Sergecross73 msg me 01:52, 21 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Here's another example here too. This doesn't appear to be an "oops" or a fluke. This is inexcusable for an experienced editor. Sergecross73 msg me 14:56, 23 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
I've reviewed your edits from the last month or so. There are a lot of examples of you stealth-removing sourced genre without explanation, removing sourced content with flimsy/vague reasoning, or adding new genre without a source. There's no excuse for an editor who has been actively editing for years to just start doing this when apparently no one else is watching. If I catch you doing this again moving forward, your account is going to be temporarily blocked from editing. Sergecross73 msg me 20:06, 31 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
