3O request declinedEdit

Please note that I have declined your request at WP:3O on the grounds that there hasn't yet been a thorough discussion of the dispute (I observed three comments in total, two of which were from you). A dispute should only be listed at 3O once there has been significant discussion. You are welcome to re-list this dispute at that time, or pursue other forms of dispute resolution. Cheers! ArbCom 2018 election voter messageEdit

Hello, StarHOG. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)

February 2019Edit

Please do not add or change content, as you did at Prime Directive, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. 75.191.40.148 (talk) 16:43, 23 February 2019 (UTC)

Since you are posting as an anonymous user, I do not know if you will be monitoring this or your IP address Talk page, so I will post a copy of the text I wrote on the Talk page of Prime Directive. Recently, the lead section and material under the section "Notable on-screen references" has been blanked by an anonymous user whose edit summaries have requested sourcing the information. I attempted to provide more source material in my edit summaries but perhaps this was not seen. Regardless, ample sourcing exits within the article as it stands to support the information contained within. I am unsure what the anonymous editor's objections to the material is; however, their edit summaries seem to point to that they, themselves, have been unable to remember or find the material within an episode. This is not the article, the source, or editors like myself's problem. If the editor's objection is to a source not provided in the lead, please note that citations are rarely given in the lead, especially when supporting citations are given elsewhere in the article. Please see WP:WHENNOTCITE. To be clear, the episode itself, The Apple is the source material, it is referenced under the section "Notable on-screen references", as well as the quote from one of the characters. The time reference in the episode is approximately 38:30, though this is not given in the reference, I list it here for other editors to easily verify, though it is not common in referencing Star Trek episodes to give a time stamp of where material or quotes come from. I am unsure what effect it will have to post this notice on the anonymous user's talk page, but I will do so. I urge any other editors to weigh in on this subject as I want to make sure the right thing is being done here.

TrektasticEdit

Nice job fixing up the trek articles!! Live long and prosper, Qapla'! Starspotter (talk) 19:09, 26 February 2019 (UTC)

Thanks. One more episode and I'll be done with season 2. I wish there was more stuff on the production of each episode. I bought at auction a few years ago some production memos from Bob Justman to Gene Roddenberry about "The Enemy Within" and they are a fantastic read, I am sure notes and memos were probably sent for all the episodes if only we had access to them all electronically.@Starspotter: StarHOG (Talk) 20:06, 26 February 2019 (UTC)

Broken refEdit

FYI, the ref you broke with this edit wasn't the YouTube clip, but rather the Encyclopedia reference used elsewhere in the article. Fortunately, a few hours later a bot came by and corrected the error. --EEMIV (talk) 00:05, 7 March 2019 (UTC)

Not a good ideaEdit

Do you really think it is a good idea to ping me to a user's talk page where I have already told him to stop pinging me? If you want to ask me about any of my edits then ask me on my page or on your page, but don't ping me to that page. And yes, the entries I restored (Terry Miller , Mike W. Miller, Bob Ross and Gene Therriault) all have sources confirming that the person is associated with the town, either in their articles or now in the town article. I didn't consider the other material in the posts. And by the way, the entry you restored, does not have a Wikipedia article to show her notability, and could be removed by the IP if he or she chooses to. Normally we don't list people unless they have a Wikipedia article, or sufficient references to show that they are clearly notable enough to qualify for a Wikipdeia article. Simply playing in city's orchestra is not sufficient to show notability. I would suggest that you write an article about her if you think she is notable. Meters (talk) 02:05, 10 March 2019 (UTC)

Since the discussion you were having was on that user's talk page, and I wanted you to see my comments, yes, I thought pinging you was appropriate. Since you do not wish to be pinged, I am happy to honor that moving forward. If you go to North Pole, Alaska, the people you are listing have little sourcing, if any. For example, the statement about Gene Therriault, "...came from a longtime North Pole family, as his father, Hector Therriault, operated a welding shop in the city for decades." Lists a single source, which looks like a list of political positions, and no biographical data (found here: http://100years.akleg.gov/bio.php?id=863/) Where is the sourcing for the biographical data about a welding shop? Most of the people on that list have information about them which is not supported by the source listed. This information needs to be sourced or removed.
People listed in "important people from..." lists do not have to have a wikipedia article about them to qualify for being on the list. Los Angeles and Baltimore each have a person on their list that has no wikipedia article. It is not a requirement that I could find. If I am wrong, please quote the wikipedia source and I'd be happy to remove those entries. I am copying this to the other relevant pages. I will not ping you as per your request. StarHOG (Talk) 13:20, 11 March 2019 (UTC)

March 2019Edit

Hello. Your recent edit to North Pole, Alaska appears to have added the name of a non-notable entity to a list that normally includes only notable entries. In general, a person, organization or product added to a list should have a pre-existing article before being added to most lists. If you wish to create such an article, please first confirm that the subject qualifies for a separate, stand-alone article according to Wikipedia's notability guideline. Since you don't seem to be getting the idea, despite the discussion, here's the template. Don't restore this entry a third time unless you can meet the requirements for adding an entry to a list of notable people. Meters (talk) 00:26, 13 March 2019 (UTC)

Glad to hear it. I stated my reasoning on the Talk page, told you how your reasoning was flawed, cited examples, and then went out of my way to be cordial and let you know that I didn't really care and that if you wanted to revert it, go ahead, I wouldn't fight it. But that wasn't good enough for you, you seem to have some personal grudge or chip on your shoulder or are just small-minded so you came to my talk page and wrote an inflammatory and incorrect post on my talk page. Maybe you are trying to pick a fight, but sorry, you're not getting one. StarHOG (Talk) 13:09, 13 March 2019 (UTC)

Hello, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. This is just a note to let you know that I've moved the draft that you were working on to Draft:Cheick Sanou, from its old location at User:StarHOG/sandbox. This has been done because the Draft namespace is the preferred location for Articles for Creation submissions. Please feel free to continue to work on it there. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to ask me on my talk page. Thank you. -Liancetalk/contribs 22:17, 4 September 2019 (UTC)
