@Crusty4545:: Yes, the Sounders did not play at Qwest in 2008. The main issue I had was your merging of the USL and MLS entries together. @SounderBruce:: The main issue with the Saputo Stadium edit was the fact the Academy team withdrew from the CSL, the PDL team that took over the Academy team folded after last season, and the USL Pro has been renamed. In my defense, it can be argued that it is the same franchise considering that teams switch leagues constantly (NASL to MISL/WSA in the 80s) but retain predominantly the same players. Steve Zungul was traded from the New York Arrows to San Jose and continued to play for the NASL franchise. Same can be said about players with teams promoted from the USL/NASL to MLS. Players would have to re-sign with the "new" MLS franchises since MLS players are registered with the league and not the respective teams. Doesn't necessarily mean it's a new franchise considering it is the same makeup.

@Crusty4545: Having to re-sign is a strong argument for the separate franchises stance that several editors (including myself) have taken. While being bold is nice, please assume good faith and talk it out with us.

@Crusty4545: Take a look at the FAQ on the Rangers F.C. talk page for the answer. The league considers it a continuation of the club and the league's word is a reliable source. By the same standard, MLS considers these clubs new and thus should not be merged together. You can seek help at the new contributors' help page on editing Wikipedia and abiding by its guidelines. How does that matter? The current New York Cosmos considers them a continuation of the former franchise. All they did was acquire the name from Pepe Pinton. Same can be said about the San Diego Sockers and the North American Soccer League. They haven't inherit anything but their name from the only franchises/league. Both Rangers and promoted MLS franchises have the same makeup and inherited players, coaches, owners, etc from the "previous franchises." And why would MLS reconigize their history pre-MLS if it has nothing to do with their league? Agree, brand reconigtion=more revenue. But the current Rangers FC is seperate (http://imgur.com/NwFmH1t) from the "former" Rangers. Founded on 5/29/2012. If the Sounders are a new franchise, so should Rangers. Therefore their page should be edited as well.

East Link vs East Link Extension

Does Sound Transit rename the segments when they come online, or will it be East Link Extension forever? Thought you might know. Brianhe (talk) 23:23, 6 July 2015 (UTC)

@Brianhe: The preliminary plan is to have service on East Link (from Northgate to Overlake) as the "Blue Line" and Northgate to Angle Lake as the "Red Line", according to a recent Northgate Link update and earlier plans from the 2012 station naming policy. The extension names (University, Northgate, Lynnwood, East, Federal Way, etc.) and Central Link will probably be retired and used solely to refer to the projects/history; we can probably keep and expand the extension articles independent of their lines, since they are interlined through the Northgate and University extensions (and possibly to Lynnwood). Interestingly, the Swift BRT network up in Snohomish County will also be switching from project names to colors very soon. SounderBruce

@Brianhe: I'd wait until Sound Transit officially releases the updated graphics and colors before we update the articles. I'm guessing they'll be ready before the University Link stations open early next year. You have deleted all of my images, you mad bastard. Change it back!

And not even a note? Not any explanation at all? Why the fuck would you do that?? That's a super-great way to keep people contributing, don't you think? This is the SECOND time this has happened, and like I made perfectly clear the first time, if you had thought for one fucking second to look, these images are my husband's work. I'm uploading them with his explicit permission. We even changed the license on his website, of which I am the administrator (you didn't check that either did you??) to be compatible with wikimedia commons because the last asshole didn't believe me either.

I don't know how to fix this. It's a lot easier to do damage than to upload good content. You have done the damage and it is on you to fix it. Or perhaps I shall start deleting your work too?

@Zackmann08: Have an option to have it in the collapsed state on a page (e.g. {{California fires|collapsed}}). If it's possible, you could have two collapsed options: one for season pages (seasons shown, major fires collapsed), and another for major fire pages (seasons collapsed, major fires shown). @Hans Haase: You should definitely not be using Google Maps are the primary source for WA highway information, since it's very often inaccurate. The best sources would be the WSDOT State Highway Logs and the legislative definition of SR 99, both of which cite the Broadway Interchange (I-5, SR 99/Everett Mall Way, Broadway, SR 526 and SR 527) as the northern terminus. State Route 529, which you linked, is on a different segment of Broadway (at the very north end of Everett) and has never been on the stretch of Broadway where the seagull intersection is. @Quidster4040: I don't think that match is notable enough (under the sports game guidelines) to have its own article beyond what could be covered in the season article. Please read over those notability guidelines, as well as the match article template, and look through some existing single-match non-cup articles (Category:Association football matches and its sub-categories). New Lake Washington floating bridge

Hey SounderBruce, do you know if the new 520 bridge has a name? I'd like to update the Evergreen Point Floating Bridge article. We'll have to rejigger the lede to distinguish the Rosselini Memorial Bridge from the new bridge. As you've probably noticed it's nearly complete now. @Brianhe: None that I know of yet. WSDOT will probably unveil the name at the ribbon-cutting ceremony next year or even keep the Evergreen Point/Governor Rosellini moniker. I'd like to document the different parts of the bridge; it's interesting from an engineering point of view with a mix of floating sections, cantilevered sections and conventional beam sections on pilings. Also the deck-elevated-on-pontoon design is fascinating; do you know why that was chosen? The project library on WSDOT's SR 520 site probably has the architectural drawings, as it seems all projects nowadays publish them as appendices to their EIS. Okanogan Complex Removal

The information was inaccurate stating the fire was not the largest in state history. By definition a "complex" is multiple fires in the same area. They do not need to merge to be considered "one" fire by the incident commander, the State of Washington and the Federal Government. Bridge issue

I know you removed the information from that article from me and another editor, and I do not take offense to that personally. My only issue is that the information has made national news (that is how I heard of it in Arizona from multiple news alerts on my phone), and has a lot of citations out there. I also assume that you meant to cite this page instead of the one you cited, as the other one just leads to a general disambiguation page. Anyways, there is a difference between a fatal (and unfortunately, routine) car accident on a bridge, and one that makes national news, especially since it appears that exchange students were involved. We could easily create tallies for bridge deaths if we wanted, but it would not make sense. At the same time, this is an event where the national press covered it, so there is clearly something going on here that warrants greater attention. I could understand how a regular death would not be worth mentioning, but this tragedy has so far killed twice as many as the bus incident right above it, and that one has been on the page for years. I am more than willing to add more citations though, as I am not comfortable keeping this information off the page as it stands right now. Finally, I do appreciate the fixing of that bus route though, as I misread that and did not catch the mistake until you caught that, so thanks for fixing that. Thanks for taking the diplomatic approach to this. I'm still waiting to see exactly what kind of lasting impact this accident will have on the bridge (the discussion is leaning towards reducing lanes and adding a median); the Metro bus accident managed to actually damage the bridge itself as well as force some changes in Metro policy (also the route number, which by itself isn't notable). It is repetition because there is already an article (at List of Seattle Sounders FC seasons that has the same exact table. East Link

With five or six East Links thruout the world, there is no reason to believe that Seattle's is more important than the others. East Link (Sound transit) is the non-ambiguous link. I redirected East Link to the disambiguation page, since the difference between a space and a hyphen isn't enough to make the name unambiguous. Westlake station name

I feel there's a good argument for our Link station being "Westlake station" on Wikipeda. The disambiguation page lists "Westlake / MacArthur Park" in Los Angeles and "West Lake" in Atlanta. So our station is the only "Westlake". Thoughts? --RickyCourtney (talk) 23:21, 21 December 2015 (UTC)

Seeking advice

Hello SounderBruce, I need your advice.

Over the past 40-some years, the Washington State Department of Transportation has published hundreds of research reports, you can see the list here: http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/Research/Reports/

Most of the research is done by third parties, often universities. We would like to make these reports available through Wikipedia since it is so widely used.

However, is it a violation of the "No original research" tenet to write an article on the subject of a report and then cite that report? For example an article on Compost Leachates (one does not currently exist) and refer back to this report?

Thanks for reaching out, @Apoultra: It is absolutely not a violation of the original research policy to cite those reports. In fact, it's encouraged as a core tenant of Wikipedia (as part of the Verifiability policy), as these are considered reliable sources by virtue of being government-produced documents.

I also suggest looking into the GLAM ("galleries, libraries, archives, and museums") initiative, which helps librarians like you share resources with Wikipedia. I can bring in some other local editors (who meet up regularly in Seattle) who have more experience with the program and the process. I'd be more than happy to work with you especially, since I have a huge interest in local transportation that has been greatly helped by WSDOT's online resources. Linkrot

You just posted Linkrot on both Mike O'Brien (Seattle politician) and Ventura County Line. I have contributed to neither of those are articles, though I clearly believe in link rot as I discuss in my user page. So its not my "laziness" you are complaining about. But I will complain about your laziness. If you read the link rot tag you just defaced those articles with, it tells you how to use refill. Instead of leaving that obnoxious tag on the top, if you are so concerned about link rot, do something about it. Just push the button and wait. Then you have fixed the "problem" you detected, you can be satisfied and you don't bother someone else to clean up the mess you left. That would be doing wikipedia some good. The average reader sees stuff like that tag on the top of the article and thinks there is something wrong. It hurts the overall credibility of wikipedia. I clearly don't believe there is anything wrong with the link rot in the first place but needless tags bother me. That's the problem I'm trying to solve by talking to you. You are the one bothered by by the link rot. As an experienced editor, if you care, when you see a problem you should also fix it, rather than leaving a tag announcing your single opinion that there is something wrong with the article to the entire world. @Trackinfo: The average reader doesn't care for tags at all. A few uses of a tag (one that exists and is well-used enough to be integrated into Twinkle) will not bring down Wikipedia's credibility. Being called out on my "laziness" is irritating, considering that my goal here is to write content and not necessarily to be janitor. If I come across a problem, I flag and tag, and some kinder soul will come along and acknowledge and correct the issue; this is a normal process and perfectly fine, as it is used commonly off-wiki in the real world.
