Wikipedia and copyright edit

Hello Shafiq Nadim! Your additions to Shipbuilding in Bangladesh have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. All other images must be made available under a free and open license that allows commercial and derivative reuse to be used on Wikipedia.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Moneytrees🏝️Talk🌴Help out at CCI! 19:28, 22 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of PHP Automobiles Limited edit

Hello Shafiq Nadim,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged PHP Automobiles Limited for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Speedy deletion nomination of PHP Automobiles Limited edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on PHP Automobiles Limited requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://tbsnews.net/companies/php-auto-dreams-made-bangladesh-brand-130828. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. PHP Automobiles Limited edit

Less than 2 months ago, PHP Automobiles was deleted after a this discussion determined that the company did not qualify for an article in the English Wikipedia.

To qualify for an article, a company or for that matter any other topic must be "notable" as Wikipedia defines the term. You can read more about "notability" at Wikipedia:Notability.

Since this topic was recently determined to be "not notable," it is very unlikely that any article can be written about the company until or unless something changes to cause it to be considered "notable" as Wikipedia uses the term.

Please pick a different topic to write about. Before writing, please read Wikipedia:Your first article and Wikipedia:Articles for creation as well as the pages they link to. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 15:39, 30 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm Deb. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you.
Hello, Shafiq Nadim. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you.Deb (talk) 08:45, 2 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Gazipur Metropolitan College edit

The article Gazipur Metropolitan College has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Since schools are not A7 eligible, I propose this for deletion since the article has no claim to importance. Available sources are of non-independent nature.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Duplicate articles — please choose? edit

Hi - you seem to have created two identical articles, List os IT companies in Bangladesh and List of Bangladeshi IT companies. This shouldn't happen: if you want to use both article names as search terms, what you need to do is create one as the article, and the other as a redirect to it. I have just proposed both articles for deletion; if you let me know which one you want to keep, I will remove the PROD on that and turn the other into a redirect. (Having said that, I don't think either of these articles should be kept, at least not in their current condition, so I may move to delete the other one also, but let's start with clarifying which one you would like to keep.) Thanks, --DoubleGrazing (talk) 18:45, 16 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Your contributed article, List os IT companies in Bangladesh edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, List os IT companies in Bangladesh. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – List of Bangladeshi IT companies. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at List of Bangladeshi IT companies. If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Worldbruce (talk) 03:50, 17 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Banhabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital University moved to draftspace edit

An article you recently created, Banhabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital University, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Speedy deletion nomination of File:Abdul Hamid.jpeg edit

A tag has been placed on File:Abdul Hamid.jpeg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement of https://www.daily-bangladesh.com/english/hamid-to-take-oath-as-president-for-second-term-tomorrow/5111. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.

Speedy deletion nomination of File:GM Quader.jpeg edit

A tag has been placed on File:GM Quader.jpeg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement of https://www.risingbd.com/english/politics/news/76754.

Proposed deletion of Dhaka-Chittagong Elevated Expressway edit

The article Dhaka-Chittagong Elevated Expressway has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

not yet notable

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Speedy deletion nomination of Dhaka-Chittagong Elevated Expressway edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Dhaka-Chittagong Elevated Expressway requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.smec.com/what-we-do/projects/Dhaka-Chittagong-Expressway.

You cannot resume editing until you provide a statement describing how copyright applies to Wikipedia, show that you understand our copyright policy, and make a commitment to follow it in the future. — Diannaa (talk) 13:39, 8 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

I am blocked indefinitely for editing copyright policy. This is my great mistake for ignoring Wikipedia guidelines. But I am very much devoted to Wikipedia. I want to do my editing continually if you unblock my ID with ignoring copyright policy. Please consider my request. Shafiq Nadim (talk) 12:58, 17 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

In order to lift the block, we need to be certain that you understand how copyright works on Wikipedia. Please respond to the following questions, explaining in your own words:
  • What is copyright?
  • How is Wikipedia licenced?
  • Why is copyrighted content not allowed on Wikipedia?
  • Under what circumstances can we use copyrighted content?
  • How do you intend to avoid violating the copyright policy in the future?
Your answers will enable us to establish whether or not you should be unblocked.— Diannaa (talk) 13:42, 17 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

1-Copyright is the collection of rights that automatically assigns someone who creates the author's original work.

2-The text of Wikipedia is officially licensed to the public under one or more liberal licenses, copyrighted by Wikipedia editors and contributors.

3-Because database servers are situated in the United States, Wikipedia is subject to U.S. copyright law in this regard and does not host content that violates U.S. copyright law.

4-Fair use allows limited use of copyrighted material without the permission of the copyright holder for purposes such as criticism, news reporting, research and and teaching.

5-I want to violate the copyright policy by showing my effort, intellect, talent, thinking and dedication to Wikipedia. Shafiq Nadim (talk) 08:28, 19 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Some of the answers are too vague. What specific rights are covered by copyright law? What specific licenses is Wikipedia licensed under? You need to supply answers written in your own words, not copied. Explain fair use in your own words; don't copy from fair use. Your answer to question 5 is not very good. Please try again.— Diannaa (talk) 13:54, 19 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Please administrator, your questions are becoming very difficult for me. I admit that copyright was a big mistake for me. But I think I need to be given a chance. I am very dedicated to Wikipedia. Shafiq Nadim (talk) 13:19, 23 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Q.What specific rights are covered by copyright law?

Answer- Copyright permission or license may be granted subject to certain conditions. License is like a contract - because the work may be enforced by the copyright holder under certain conditions. Copyright is a temporary law issued by the authority, licensed by the copyright holder to validate any text, image, phrase, composition or poem by authors.

Q.What specific licenses is Wikipedia licensed under?

Answer- License is the use of any work in the manner described by permission. Licensing is as useful as a single author decides in a single activity.

Q.How do you intend to avoid violating the copyright policy in the future?

Answer- Before copyrighting an airticle, poem, image or any other content, discuss any usage from its provider and whether there is any written advice in the contract regarding the purpose for which the work will be used. The exact purpose of the use, the amount of use, how significant it is must be considered. Shafiq Nadim (talk) 10:58, 30 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

These answers are incorrect.— Diannaa (talk) 11:43, 30 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
