Valley Fair Shopping Center

I have added reliable references to the Valley Fair Shopping Center article, updated its present condition and use, removed and replaced broken links, and added more pictures. Ever since I found out this article exists, I've been very interested in it and have been researching the mall. I have also added some external links to the page, some of them are kind of interesting. Anyways, this is what I want to ask you; are there enough reliable references now to remove the template at the top of the article? Thanks 1014cd (talk) 22:40, 25 August 2011 (UTC)

Wow, you're lucky I found this. Questions go at the bottom (for next time). It looks good enough not to require major work (if it had only a few references). It was very dated (from 2007) so it too dated to mean much often. You and anyone else can and should remove when it's obviously wrong like this. It doesn't take an act of congress. Brown County NRHP listings

Replying to your questions at my Talk, regarding changes in your edits to the Brown County, Wisconsin NRHP list-article.

About county and state and national tallies, u don't need to sweat those. If you actually have corrections to make, just make them at the lowest level, and others (maybe mostly Sanfranman59, will sweep them up into correct state and nation totals.

But, the website u are apparently thinking is official is not. That is what i refer to as "NRHP.COM", short for www.nationalregisterofhistoricplaces.com, which is a private website that copies the public domain NRIS database. However, it is not accurate in several ways, one being that its programmer does not pay attention to the listing status code in NRIS data. The East Moravian Church and Kaap's Restaurants you added are in fact correctly not shown in our main list, because they were delisted: theirs status code is "RN", which means "REMOVED FROM NATIONAL REGISTER", probably on the date that NRHP.COM reports erroneously that they were listed. They could be put into a table of formerly listed properties below. You can find this out using Elkman's generator by searching on their name with the widest search option set by checking in a box at "Search for properties that have been delisted?" set. That really means to show properties of any status, as well as listed status. A short table of the meaning of the various listing codes is given far down within wp:NRHPhelp.

The North Michigan Street one shows in Elkman's under regular searching. I note it is reported listed on July 19, 2007. Randall Avenue HD shows as listed on April 24, 2007 in Elkman's. I wonder if NRHP.COM has not updated since then? But that doesn't make sense. I would simply believe Elkman's and disbelieve NRHP.COM, whose programmer does not ever get feedback and never improves their system.

The South Broadway Historic District, however, does not show in Elkman's at all though. Ah, but it was just listed on January 21, 2010, so it would not. And same for the Main Avenue Historic District, listed in February 2010. Elkman's and NRHP.COM both are using the March 13, 2009 version of NRIS, the last downloadable until the new version that was just released. The January 21, 2010 entry was added by Sanfranman59 or others as part of their weekly updating using the new weekly listing announcements.

So, the good news is that the Brown County list-article is not wildly inaccurate. I think we (mostly others than me now) do a pretty good job of staying synched with what NRIS actually shows. :) I do think that some kind of auditing of randomly chosen counties, using the newly available NRIS database update, would be a good idea though Maybe a version of the new NRHP batch-generator-of-articles could be tweaked to provide more of an auditing type comparison for any given county, rather than focusing on providing new article drafts, and it could provide assistance in adding tables of delisted properties which i like to include, but are so far optional in our practice. Thanks for the reply. I was hoping to keep it together on your page but this is fine too. Thanks for spending the time to do the research and your excellent explanation. I didn't understand the details about that website and the problems that it is causing. The Heritage Hill Historic Park had the East Moravian Church listed on their private listing of National sites, but that's not official. Is there any way to check for the Center Valley Grade School in Outagamie County, Wisconsin? I read an article about it in the Appleton, Wisconsin newspaper back in around July or August 2010 that said that it had been listed in the National Register but it hasn't appeared on the Wikipedia list. I don't see Center Valley Grade School appearing in NRHP weekly listings yet, by my quick google searching. This search specific to nps.gov really should show it, if it was announced, but doesn't. Maybe they had applied for NRHP listing, not yet received? There's enough for you to go ahead and start an article about it though from sources like in a newsletter here, especially if u have a pic ready! Don't feel constrained to just work on NRHP-listed places; do articles about locally listed places too and add them to WikiProject Historic sites instead of WikiProject NRHP. The infobox historic sites, programmed by Dudemanfellabra, is one good option for an infobox which is similar with map and so on to the NRHP infobox; there's also a buildings infobox. I have sooooo much to do here and so little time. So I'll wait for the school to make an official list. For example, I have hundreds of images to upload. I photographed a bunch of nationally registered historic places in Upper Michigan about 4 months just to find that others photographed them long after me and had them uploaded. I still have more to upload! There are dozens of unreferenced BLPs for NASCAR drivers. I have an article that I developed to near Featured level which I should complete & nominate. Articles to create. Existing articles that should be developed to Good standards. This is why I don't spend much time on making NRHP articles. And so on... Royalbroil 05:46, 24 December 2010 (UTC)

Returned to note that, towards breaking some ice, i started Baird Law Office as a stub from NRIS info and ur pic, and then because i am currently terrified of public opinion i added a bit more. Still lacks NRHP nom which would be best source probably, but that would have to be requested. Sources available would allow it to be over DYK length tho, if someone cared to nurture it a bit...

Yes, User:Andrew Jameson sure did cut a swath through upper michigan, didn't he? He did nice pics and articles for all of Detroit, Michigan first, though. Aw man, that's a huge bummer! That was one of the articles that I was planning to do in that group from the Heritage Hill State Park! I wanted to do a shorter DYK encompassing all of them - Did You Know... that the Heritage Hill State Park has __ historic buildings including a law office, hospital, ward, church, house, etc... ? This would have been the law office. No use crying over spilled milk. What you ended up with is what I'm wanting to see is a bit above the minumum. Actually the minimum is around this edit. Yes, Andrew did a great job and he spent the time to get much better photos that I did (and I told him so). So there was no reason for me to upload something inferior. Henry S. Baird and Baird Law Office are on the main page now as the lead DYK, with your nice pic. I got credit, thot i had put in credit for u too. If u didn't specifically edit/ask to be removed, i'm gonna return with a DYK notice for u too. Thanks for the great pic. I think think the hook was chosen for the lead, and the pic was kept in the DYK, because the hook did relate the person to what u see in the pic of the building. I don't know how much you know. Good Article is a formal process where an uninvolved party assesses the article against the Good Article Criteria. First you need to make sure that the article meets the criteria in your mind. I haven't done a thorough review, just a quick one. It checks to make sure that you have used citations from high quality reliable sources, among other items. Statistics and other claims are especially checked to have citations. Then you propose the article using the Wikipedia:Good article nominations directions. The article is expected to be nearly complete and stable. I hope this helps. I assume you mean assess for the talk page, which I did. I think you probably can review your own as long as you're being impartial. Review also could mean review of the article to find improvements in grammar and the style manual. I saw her performing the song on Letterman and I'm pleased to see that the performance was included. AlexBot new articles

Hi! The AlexBot new articles has not been working since before Christmas. Therefore, I have no idea hoow many new articles involving Wisconsin and Milwaukee were started. The Catalyst started articles about unincorporated communities in Wisconsin. Fortunately, I am able to follow that with the edits to the county templates. The same also with new articles about the Kohler Family of Wisconsin and the Kohler Strikes. I think this bot needs an adjustment. Many thanks-RFD (talk) 15:09, 8 January 2011 (UTC)

Pictures

Hello, do you remember when we discussed cameras? Well over Christmas I received a Nikon Coolpix L110. Do you believe that this wluld be a good camera to take shots of NASCAR related pictures? Also, though this is not relative to the heading, but do you know another way to find new NASCAR articles, other than the bot? Nascar1996 16:42, 8 January 2011 (UTC)

Sure, I'm sure it would do just fine. I've found that the photographer is the biggest factor. Some of my best shots were taken with my Kodak point and shoot even though my main camera is at semi-pro level. An ISO of 800 to 1600 is an excellent maximum on par with my expensive camera. You'd need it in low light, so you probably won't use it much. 15x optical zoom is excellent and may compete against my telephoto lense. A huge tip is to NEVER us the digital zoom. Hopefully you can tell when it leaves optical zoom. Digital zoom causes real problems with camera shake even if you're real steady. You should always crop with software which is what I've always done. I'm happy to recommend free software that works well for me to crop and photo enhance. I wish I knew how to enhance photos because then I'd probably have some featured. My brother is excellent with photo editing and I hope to talk about it more with him tomorrow. Anyhow, I don't usually shot with high megapixels even though my camera can do 10 Mp. I take sooo many shots so I'd fill up my hard drive as I've taken tens of thousands with each of my 2 cameras (well over 2000 appear on Commons). I've run a bunch of tests and can't tell the difference between a 2 Mp shot and one at 10 Mp - even when I zoom in tight. Do you have another camera where you could photograph your new camera and add it to the article? Lots of my photos have been taken of mundane items like that.

You're the second straight person to ask about new articles. I am not aware of any other way to find out the new articles for a WikiProject beside the bot. I was so impressed with it that I gave out a barnstar to the NewArtBot. Royalbroil 22:47, 8 January 2011 (UTC)

I have learned in the past that digital zoom (It is when you zoom in too much, right?) can make the photos blury, so I don't use it that much. I've took some pictures of the snow in my area with it and most of them appear nice except a couple, which might have been caused by the inappropriate settings. With my current SD card, I have have thousands of pictures on my new camera (my other one could only hold 200- which meant I had to delete several to take more. However, I'm don't believe I'm going to be able to crop the photo, by a certain software, but can't you crop them on Flickr? I also have two other cameras, which either could take a picture of my current camera. When I am able to take a picture of it, I will add it to the article, unless I forget.

Hopefully the bot gets running soon. Do you know the problem with the bot? Since I have been editing, several bots have become inactive, such as the Article Alerts bot (that is now replaced), the bot that added articles related to a certain subject that had problems with them, and this bot. Digital zoom is when software in your camera does the zoom for you instead of the lens moving (optically). Cameras aren't perfect, especially point and shoot, at zooming. I even get a few that are off on my regular lens (called wide angle). My telephoto lens almost never misses focus. The space issue that I'm most concerned about is space on my computer since I take them off the SD card anyhow. Flickr doesn't crop. The way to do it is to download a program like gIMP which you run on your computer after you download the photo. There are few steps to crop, and the first is open the photo. You can rotate the photo if you didn't hold the camera straight. Then you draw a box around where you want to crop. You pick an option on a menu and it crops. You save the file and then you're done. I'm sure it would be easy for you. I didn't look into why the bot isn't running, maybe you can. I'm sure that others have already if it's down over a week. I don't have time and I have to go. New Years Message for WikiProject United States

With the first of what I hope will be monthly newsletters I again want to welcome you to the project and hope that as we all work together through the year we can expand the project, create missing articles and generally improve the pedia thought mutual cooperation and support. Now that we have a project and a solid pool of willing members I wanted to strike while the iron is hot and solicite help in doing a few things that I believe is a good next step in solidifiing the project. I have outlined a few suggestions where you can help with on the projects talk page. This includes but is not limited too updating Portal:United States, assessing the remaining US related articles that haven't been assessed, eliminating the Unrefernced BLP's and others. If you have other suggestions or are interested in doing other things feel free. I just wanted to offer a few suggestions were additional help is needed. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, comments or suggestions or you can always post something on the projects talk page. Leaving

Basically what it boiled down to was that a lot of the edits I enjoyed doing ended up not falling under the Manual of Style. The List of NASCAR teams for instance lost the colors and flags that I worked hard on because of the MOS. And it wasn't just NASCAR pages, it was other ones as well. I'm sure it'd be possible for me to try and get that kind of thinking reversed, but I simply don't have the time or the patience to fight The Man over something that's been around longer than I have at the moment. I'm doing well in my post-wiki world, so maybe it's all for the best.

2011 Daytona 500

I would like to add the Gatorade Duels in the qualifying section, but there would be too many results tables. So to minimize space, is there such thing as a table that could show the first five results and than the rest be hidden? Lets say you press a button and it shows the rest of the resutls? Thanks. I was wondering because I'm not sure if the article should have too many tables, but I don't think the Duels are notable enough to have their own article. Kind of busy, but the main problem was that my internet has been down a lot whenever I want to use it. Plus I went to ice racing both of the last 2 Sundays including 3 tracks last Sunday! The track were close together (within 30 miles) so it worked watching the first heats at one track, the second set of heats at the second track, and the features at a third track. I think you should add tables for all of the qualifying parts, including the Duels. If it gets too large then the Duels could get their own article. There's often a link on the main page "In the News" to winner of the Daytona 500, so this is one article that I'd do with reliable sources and GA-level text. I've done some of my own research into close paraphrasing with respect to AK and it appears to be extremely difficult to deal with. All of the examples I find appear to be advocating synthesizing content to the point of being original research which I won't do. You cannot use a single word from the original source. I can't see how their examples encompass any of the original meaning [1]. I spend hundreds of hours on that article, enough to write very many articles, and I'm tired of wasting time on something unattainable. Plus their standards that are constantly changing to the point where I've needed to redo things that they had me remove in earlier reviews. Royalbroil 04:01, 19 January 2011 (UTC)

I'm planning for the Daytona 500 article to be similar to some of the better ones I expanded for last season, but I know as the race gets closer more editors are going to want to work on that article which will make it very complicated to work with. The 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series article has been semi-protected since around November, and will be until February 3. Once it expires, could we get Pending changes on the article? It seems reasonably complete. There are some unsourced statements like the change in restrictor plate. Otherwise it looks fine. I need to do a bunch more work on the 100 images on my hard drive which need to be uploaded. I'm usually caught by this time of year. So I'm leaving Jimmie Johnson's article alone for now. Article of the month – 2010 Ford 400 The 2010 Ford 400 was a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stock car race that was held on November 21, 2010 at Homestead Miami Speedway in Homestead, Florida. The 267 lap race was the thirty-sixth in the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, as well as the final race in the ten-race Chase for the Sprint Cup, which ends the season. The race was won by Carl Edwards for the Roush Fenway Racing team. Jimmie Johnson finished second, and Kevin Harvick clinched third. Pole position driver Kasey Kahne maintained his lead on the first lap to begin the race, as Edwards, who started in the second position on the grid, remained behind him. First of all, you should never remove someone else's comment. That's considered extremely rude and is considered disruptive; it will quickly get you into big trouble. I'm sure you weren't aware that it is so egregious, so it will get overlooked this time. You can avoid doing it by just adding a new section right after the last comment on someone's talk page (just hit enter a few times before starting a new section with the ==). I remember your photograph of the Fonzie in Milwaukee. Actually taking images of art is a concern since they infringe on the copyright of the artist, so I discourage you from taking any. Art that is not in the public domain should only be uploaded under Fair use. Public domain usually happens 70 years after the death of the artist, see United_States_copyright_law#Duration_of_copyright for more specifics.

I am wondering if you'd be interested to take photographs of other notable subjects in Wisconsin, specifically notable topics ones that have articles in Wikipedia. There's a list of requested images in Wisconsin which can be found at Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in Wisconsin. Another list that can use more help is National Register of Historic Places listings in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, the list of places listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The parent list for every county in Wisconsin can be found at National Register of Historic Places listings in Wisconsin; I've only managed to complete a few counties in the state. I had been added templates to various articles. Recently I added one to Delhi, Wisconsin. An editor access the article and put a photo request on the Delhi, Wisconsin article. That's okay to place an image request on that article. Of course if we put a photo request on every article like this one then the list would be hopelessly long making the list completely useless. I consider the list to be image requests of higher priority. Looking at satellite maps of the "ghost town", there appears to be over a dozen houses. Kinda odd for a ghost town. Jimmie Johnson

Do you remember the earlier talk about the article, when I accidently changed the class to GA when it was a C-class article. I have just completely reworded and reformatted the article from top to bottom, and added better references. I was influenced to do so after seeing this. Anderson would be a great article to work on since it's only reference is really racing reference which we always used to wrongly put in the external links section. I suggest that some of the most-viewed impact articles could use help, namely Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt. You're definitely at the level to be able to do what needs to be done to improve them (citations from reliable sources). I've spent far too much time on AK's article to justify redoing it yet another time from scratch. I've rewritten it very many times already. It's impossible to please them, then they'll just hack it up again. Either that or their constantly changing standards would get it taken off the list after a few years anyhow. I should have stopped on it a long time ago. I'm going to try to get a gold star with my photography. If I had a bucket list then taking a featured picture would be on it. I have ideas in mind for next summer, like upgrading my already good family farm photograph with another beautiful farm that I have selected. I now have the equipment capable enough to shoot a featured image. Hopefully the weather will be as nice for this year's Nationwide race at Road America and I can do some shoots at super high resolution and/or Raw image format to reduce noise. If someone gets out of hand, you can always link to Wikipedia:I just don't like it. They're probably not from the USA so they don't get it. I don't get some other sports that are popular elsewhere. Lots of US people would say the same thing about soccer, cricket, etc. Don't let them bother you. That doesn't make the sport non-notable. I don't really understand it. Almost all types of stock car racing around the world is partnered with NASCAR, it is also in Canada, as well as Mexico and Australia. Then other countries watch NSCS races all the time. If you reviewed the link that helped influence me to work on Johnson's article, there are some users, who did "I just don't like it" on there. I looked over that link again. People were opposed to the state of the article at that time. Most weren't against NASCAR and agreed that it was in a list of approved items to make the main page. Even if they personally didn't like NASCAR they agreed that it's notable enough. I'll do a solid peer review on the article since it looks like you're needing to see it. I've been to Rhinelander on several occasions, it just has been quite a while. You can learn how to add images to pages by going to Wikipedia:Picture tutorial. To give you the short answer, you can type in the following where ever you want on the page:

Commons question

Hi Royalbroil, since you are an admin on Commons I had a question for you, if you don't mind. I have been in email contact with Roger Ebert to see if he would license some more of his photos for use on Wikipedia (he posts a lot of his personal photos which he has taken of celebrities on his Facebook page). Mr. Ebert is an occasional editor here (as Rebert) and uploaded several photos under free licenses that are now on Commons. He replied that he would license his images if he thought he would get photo credits for them (attribution). I was wondering if the files could be renamed so that the file names included "by Roger Ebert" (as is already the case for File:Russ Meyer by Roger Ebert.jpg).

The other files would be File:O'TooleEbertPatrik.jpg (which contains a spelling error, it is "Patric") and its derivatives File:Roger Ebert.jpg, File:Peterotoole.jpg, File:JasonPatric.jpg, and File:Jason Patric.JPG, as well as File:Russ Meyer and Roger Ebert.jpg and its derivatives File:Russ meyer.jpg and File:Roger Ebert (extract).jpg.

I plan to also add a category "Photographs by Roger Ebert" and clearer attribution to these images, and plan to try adding credit to the photo captions on the English Wikipedia too. The idea is that I could then go back to Mr. Ebert and tell him how the images he already uploaded are being used in way that identifies him as the author, and hope that he then releases some more of his images under a free license.

Sure, I took care of it. It's much easier on Commons than here at the English Wikipedia (just one button, fill in the new name & rationale and a bot takes care of the rest including replacing on every Wikipedia). Uploader request it a great reason to rename. I am familiar with him of course. This sounds like a great way to get him to do some contributing again and I support these categories. Anyone can have a category on Commons for their own images. I do. I suggest being more specific on the name of the author to Rebert (Roger Ebert) like I changed on File:Roger Ebert (extract) by Roger Ebert.jpg. So you've got me doing some work at Commons now, and I've run up on an issue. This image is incorrectly identified as Charles Augustus Murray. As you can see here, it is actually a portrait of Kentucky Governor J. Proctor Knott. Not sure how moves and whatnot work on Commons. Can you help? You're welcome. You can take care of incorrectly named categories with typos at Rename a Category. Since it takes admin action to either list a category rename with a bot or to delete the uncommon incorrect name, I just took care of it. You'll find that the differences between Commons and the English Wikipedia are relatively minor for the most part. Instead of using WP: to find shortcuts, most start with COM: Royalbroil 01:16, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

2. You wrote "I've worked with Nascar1996 for a long time and this is an isolated incident". That is so untrue it is laughable. He has done this before, claiming he took photos which were pinched from websites/etc. You want just one example? Go through the diffs in this thread and see where the final editor says " This user is stealing from all over, and he is always removing the warnings."
3. You wrote "Also, you have removed all images on the Trevor Bayne article". I did not. I removed the image which User:Nascar1996 stole from a copyrighted site and claimed as his own work. Check the rest of his history.

I must add that your edit summary for this edit was misleading, where it says"restore images that were deleted". You didn't restore the copyrighted image I deleted at all, and the other two you placed on the page were not restorations but the addition of images that had not previously been in the article. I know that you didn't delete the images that I restored, nascar1996 removed them when he rewrote the article. I have made a comment to him about it. I had a poor word choice with "restore" which was misleading. I was hoping that you would have noticed that there were no images in the article - yet had a Commons category - when you correctly removed the final image which was a copyright violation. It's no big deal. As a photographer, I hate to see decent images which were uploaded then removed - especially when I was the photographer. It makes me feel like I wasted my time. Thats what I thought. I replaced the image, and of course it should be deleted. However, is File:The NASCAR nose for 2011.jpg alright. I cropped it from the other version that is here. Really? So, how come for every single 2010 motorsport season article I read (bar F1) - and every single 2011 article thus far - there is not a single source or reference located inside of the "results" heading on the article where the general race result and results tables are located. What about results tables on individual driver's articles? I never see sources there. (And the only source that 2010 F1 article has is a link to an overall end-of-year FIA page with just the points totals, not the individual race reuslts.

According to WP:VERIFY, sources are only really needed for "any material [..] likely to be challenged", and it's not like race results are someone that are necessarily challenge-able, seeing as they are fact. In fact, also in the same article it says "This means that a source must exist for it, whether or not it is cited in the article.". Yes, a source for race results and the like does exist, but it doesn't always need to be specifically cited, seeing as if anyone is really that bothered about believing it, they can go to the official page for it and check for themselves.

As I said before, this is ideally a discussion that should be done at WT:MOTOR, seeing as something like this affects all motorsport series' season articles, not just specifically the NASCAR Sprint Cup. TheChrisD ^{Rants•Edits} 17:31, 27 February 2011 (UTC)

Yes, I think it should be fine to propose. I think you should stop with this one because we don't want to get too many of a good thing. Perhaps some for another year? However, I don't understand your proposed hook at all - it must be grammar issues. I would appreciate trying to understand what you're trying to do - probably just a few prepositions. Is the mirror supposed to refer to the mirror in the camera? Also "The Sun" give away it over "the sun". The grammar in the article is pretty good. Thank you for the response. In the hook I played with the names of newspapers that reprinted the hoax as a real thing, those newspapers were The Times, The Daily Telegraph, The Sun,Daily Mail and Daily Mirror. If you are to click at those words, it would take you to the articles about those newspapers. I simply wanted to make the hook in such a way that it would be hard to understand, and the readers would be interested in going to read the article.

April Fools Reviews

Hey Royal, I was about to start reviewing april fools DYK's again since everyone is just proposing more and more ALTs and nothing is moving forward. The only issue is that i keep getting lost as to what the most current ALT is and/or what people are seeming to think is the funniest. I have been away for roughly the past week and have missed alot of the conversations. On the new NASCAR wiki format and some other things

Royalbroil, I'm not a big fan of the new NASCAR driver page format. On Trevor Bayne's page, there are alot of repeats of information, such as him being born in Knoxville Tennessee and how he started out in go-karts, won some awards, joined up with MWR, won the Daytona 500 etc. Alof of the sections aren't well filled in also. I was hoping to fix that because it looks kinda sloppy from my perspective. Also, the issue of transitioning from the use of # to number just looks weird to me. I'd much prefer to have it be No. for the article itself throughout. I hope this is making sense to you :|

I'm sorry that you don't like the format, but that's how all articles are supposed to be formatted according to the Manual of Style. The reason is so that a reader can look at the lead paragraph to find a summary of the person in just a few paragraphs. I recently found out why this is so helpful when I recently read some pages on my new cell phone. There's no way that I want to read a whole article on it - it would take forever. All information in the lead needs to be repeated later using reliable sources in the article per WP:LEAD. So you can change the summary in the lead but not very much. What you can do is expand the areas that are short like you've said. I don't know what you're talking about with transitioning from # to number. Do you mean in the infobox or how numbers below 20 should be written out (see WP:ORDINAL)? NASCAR articles need to comply with the Manual of Style just like the rest of the articles, especially if we want to improve them to Good or Featured standards (which is happening now that we've finally figured these issues out). It originally felt weird to start adding inline citations to reliable sources in NASCAR articles; now I can't imagine it any other way. I'd say there are about 5 contributors who regularly work on NASCAR articles. Royalbroil 04:42, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

Well I'm here to help! My issue on Bayne's article is that the one heading that is supposed to be about his early and personal life only contains two sentences. Though I am surprised that there are such a low amount of fans editing the NASCAR sections. I'll keep updating on sponsorship changes in the series via Jayski. Dirt Track Racing 2

Not sure if this is where to put it, but the reason I put the link to the Team VLR site up in the Dirt Track Racing 2 article is because there were two other links to other sites in the same section. Those links had been there for almost three years, and both sites on their are no longer in existence. I simply updated it to put the VLR site on there in place of it since it is still going and updated daily. If it wasn't OK for it to be listed on there, then the other two web sites shouldn't have been either, but they were on there for a long time. Those other 2 links didn't belong either and I would have deleted them had I noticed them. Adding web sites that are not official get removed from Wikipedia. If you take a step back, non-official websites come across as being promotion for these websites. The question was asked "why should any tangential link be allowed?" and the answer is no links like that. I'm glad that we can discuss this rationally and I'm not upset with you. Question on images

Good job with helping with the Harley J. Earl Trophy at GA. I'm surprised that we didn't get edit conflicts. You definitely should link to the image at flickr. The flickr bot will find a discrepancy that the images are not identical but that's okay. I'd make it obvious in the file description that you're uploading a higher resolution which was agreed on the flickr talk page. A flickr reviewer or admin at Commons will need to verify the license which I can do if nothing else. Please ask the flickr uploader on the talk page if the original photographer agrees with Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike so it's documented. Crossing your i's and dotting your t's is real important with all images. I check out the background on images. It looks like Maverick Helicopters contracted a photographer to take these pictures, so this is one of the rare cases where the paying business owns the license over a photographer that they contracted for hire. This image would be very helpful for Las Vegas Motor Speedway's article if you would please ask about that one too. Thanks for asking! Royalbroil 04:48, 24 March 2011 (UTC)

When I upload the high resolution image on commons, I will also need to include the creator of the image (Tom Donoghue Photography). I believe that he did ask about the right license since I said, "However, the license would have to be changed to Attribution, Share Alike." However I will ask him again. Article of the month – 2010 Ford 400, a new Good Article The 2010 Ford 400 was a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stock car race that was held on November 21, 2010 at Homestead Miami Speedway in Homestead, Florida. The 267 lap race was the thirty-sixth in the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, as well as the final race in the ten-race Chase for the Sprint Cup, which ends the season. The race was won by Carl Edwards for the Roush Fenway Racing team. Jimmie Johnson finished second, and Kevin Harvick clinched third. Pole position driver Kasey Kahne maintained his lead on the first lap of the race. Edwards started in the second position on the grid, and became the leader of the race on the fourth lap. Shortly after a restart on lap 22, championship leader Denny Hamlin spun sideways, resulting with damage to his splitter. Martin Truex, Jr. took the lead on lap 73, but after the final pit stops Edwards was first. He maintained the lead to win the race, having led it for 192 laps. I don't understand your question. If you want to upload your personal photos for Wikipedia then upload to Commons. You can also upload them to flickr if you want to. I caught the ending of 2 straight NASCAR races and it was another excellent finish today again. I bet lots of Earnhardt fans weren't happy but it was good for someone who's driver don't do as well anymore (former local racer Kenseth who I saw come up thru the ranks in the 1990s). Hey RB, thanks for the help/work on the '57 article. I'm thinking of moving it out sometime next week, but hope to do a DYK for it. (not sure which hook yet). The reason I'd like to get the DYK is that it's the year I was born. (yea, pretty stupid reason, but there were a few rather notable things that year). I also started the 1954 one, and might push it out this weekend. Don't see much there for a DYK (other than Lee Petty's first championship) so probably won't nom it for DYK ... but what do you think? Also have 1969 just barely started too - but just barely. I'm going to try to get the rest of the years too that are now just redirects over the coming weeks/months: 1954 (working), 1956, 1958 (working) (not sure about DYK yet), 1959, 1960, 1962, 1964, 1967, 1968, and the '69 one. After doing a short amount of research I found that Johnson's 2010 championship last year broke Hendricks' tie (10) with Petty (9) [sports.espn.go.com/rpm/nascar/cup/news/story?id=5835698]. I think Richard Petty won a championship for someone else for 1 year. I still spend lots of time track chasing in Wisconsin. I've gotten into photographing National Register of Historic Places lists. I sold an image (which is used here on Wikipedia) which was published in a major magazine here in Wisconsin. I'm quite happy with how two sets from Road America turned out last year - this set from the Nationwide race and this set from the SCCA National champions. Royalbroil 03:33, 23 April 2011 (UTC)

I also noticed you're the author of some of the images of Crandon. Are you from around here? I grew up in Crandon and my parents still live there. I've been either in Madison or Wausau the last two years for school but I'm there pretty much every weekend and all summer long. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help out any related articles (editing, images, etc...). Article of the month – 2011 Budweiser Shootout, a new Good article The 2011 Budweiser Shootout was a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stock car race that was held on February 12, 2011 at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. Contested over 75 laps, it was the first exhibition race of the 2011 Sprint Cup Series season. The race was won by Kurt Busch for the Penske Racing team. Jamie McMurray finished second, and Ryan Newman clinched third. Pole position driver Dale Earnhardt, Jr. maintained his lead through the first corner, but Clint Bowyer, who started seventh on the grid, led the first lap. On the 25th lap, the first caution was given, as Jeff Burton became the leader. During the caution all the teams made a pit stop . Two laps later, an accident involving several racecars prompted the second caution to be given. On lap 63, Newman became the leader. He maintained the lead until the final lap, when Denny Hamlin passed him below the yellow line (out of bounds line), as Busch passed him on the other side. Hamlin passed Newman below the yellow line giving the win to Kurt Busch. There were four cautions and 28 lead changes among ten different drivers throughout the course of the race. It was Busch's first win in the 2011 season, as well as his first win at a track that uses restrictor plates, such as Daytona International Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway. The Paulding, Michigan article is done-The Catalyst 31 started it. I finally figure out the gnis citation so that helps. You are current with your things to do list with new communities. Some editors do not like the Hometown locator website a little spammish but the GNIS citations make reference to it. In defense for the Hometown Locator website, this does serve its purpose for a citation especially if you can not get to the GNIS site right away. Hi-I started some articles on some unincorporated communities in Wisconsin. I used the US Geological Service citation. One or 2 editors do not like the Hometown Locator-a little spammy. However, the GNIS citation also has reference to the Hometown Locator. I notice you have photos concerning Hayton, Wisconsin so I started the article. Anome's bot puts in the coordinations for the various articles involving geography so I am not too concern about that. I had been doing articles on the various members of the Wisconsin Legislature and other public officials and am getting a little burnt out so I am going back to the unincorporated communities in Wisconsin. Bummer about Hayton. I was planning to work up that article myself since I'm very familiar with the place - enough to do something real good versus the sub-stub that you put up. I even put the photos in a section titled "Articles that I'll do by myself". I used the edit summary "remove completed items, add one that I'll do myself". Oh well, too late. I haven't looked at the quality of either of these references but thanks for making me aware of these concerns. The unincorporated community articles are a lot less stress than politicians. Article of the month – 2011 Subway Fresh Fit 500 The 2011 Subway Fresh Fit 500 was a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stock car race held on February 27, 2011 at Phoenix International Raceway in Avondale, Arizona. Contested over 312 laps, it was the second race of the 2011 season. The race was won by Jeff Gordon for the Hendrick Motorsports team. Kyle Busch finished second, and Jimmie Johnson clinched third. Pole position driver Carl Edwards maintained his lead on the first lap to begin the race, as Kurt Busch, who started in the second position on the grid, remained behind him. On the 29th lap, the first caution was given because of debris. Forty-eight laps later, a multiple car accident occurred, which involved 13 drivers. Afterward, several lead changes, and four more cautions occurred. With nine laps remaining, Gordon passed Kyle Busch for the first position. Gordon maintained the lead to win his first race of the season, and his first in more than 60 races. There were eight cautions and 29 lead changes among 12 different drivers throughout the course of the race, Gordon's first win of the season. The result moved Gordon to the sixth position in the Drivers' Championship. He remained 15 points behind first place driver Kyle Busch and one ahead of Bobby Labonte in seventh. In the Manufacturers' Championship, Toyota, Ford and Chevrolet had twelve points, four points ahead of Dodge. A total of 75,000 people attended the race, while 10.36 million watched it on television. Template opinion

Could you please express your opinions on templates similar to {{2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup}}? I don't think the table is needed on the race articles. It also makes it seem like a infobox goes all the way down the article. Could we change it into a template similar to {{F1GP 10-19}}? --Nascar1996 (talk • contribs) 20:23, 29 May 2011 (UTC)

Either way is fine with me. Most of the time it is done with a template link on the bottom like you suggest changing to and I prefer it to be changed.

I saw the end of the 600 race this weekend and it was enjoyable even if my driver (Kenseth) had the best car and didn't win it. I bet a lot of Jr. fans were upset. I guess it was fate that he ran out of gas in the final corner. Royalbroil 04:39, 31 May 2011 (UTC)

Another editor and I are discussing the template on WT:NASCAR.

I watched the entire 600 race, it was quite enjoyable. I'm surprised Harvick ran with victory, I didn't even know he was second!. I would have rather Earnhardt, Jr. win the race since, my favorite driver's (Johnson) engine failed. This season has seemed like it is bringing more fans to the race track and watching on tv. I just ordered the tickets for Road America. I have several friends who know people on the track's board which helps get a good deal. Since there is surprising consensus expecting someone to reconfigure the template someone theoretically should change it. Why the commentators expect you to do it when you disagree is beyond me (I wouldn't do it if I strongly disagreed - I just wouldn't add it to any more articles). Royalbroil 03:24, 1 June 2011 (UTC)

Thats nice to have. Also, I did take some photos at the All-Star race, but they didn't turn out to well. I also figured out what happen to my other pictures (the lines.) I researched it on the internet and it said that it had that because the lighting was bright, etc. I'm already wanting another camera because of this feature. I'm peer reviewing that article? I'm just too busy right now to work on it now. I haven't even checked my watchlist in about 1 week. I urgently needed to get a book back which is why I worked on that today. Also, I see on Commons that you have more flickrwashing for me to address. Yet another Asher IP; he attempted to friend me on Facebook this evening and lashed out on Twitter (blocked on both counts) for reverting his addition of his personal site to the Sheboygan article a few months back. Nate • (chatter) 02:31, 30 May 2011 (UTC)

Here's what I think when I read WP:EL in this situation. Any newspaper or news media doesn't belong in the city's article. The only link that I think should remain is the official city website. Fewer articles now have more than the official website on the topic. Not the police's official website. Not a tourism website. (Does this belong to something official, and even if so, why should it remain?) What is this Sheboygan History website and why should it remain? Doesn't look official to me. The burden of proving why it should remain belongs on the person who wants to keep it. I never had problems with Asher's conduct but others were taken off by him. I felt like he was young person who could be molded if given the proper mentoring. After he was blocked I met another new Wikipedian from another part of the country who was a NASCAR fan. Others were getting irritated but I ended up being a big help with mentoring him to the point where he now has done several Good Articles. Too bad others didn't have enough patience with Asher. I decided to remove the tourism and history sites (the latter doesn't look official at all or from at the very least the county historical society), but keep the police site; I was wavering towards doing that in the last couple days. As for the other issue I was patient with them in the beginning, but their push for self-promotion of themselves in all venues here (including this AfC attempt about themselves three months ago) tried my patience, and I think they even had a mentor here before they gave up on him. To me, unless they can abide by the rules and stops their self-promotion (or as in this edit by the IP, claims their group bought the school district radio station at a lowball price), I cannot welcome their contributions. Vulcan Street Plant

Sorry, I had to leave abruptly in the middle of adding the image. I went to the site several times and I actually toured the Paper Discovery Center which is now at the site. A few hundred feet away are signs and maps that describe the history of the area along with a detailed map of what is there now and what had been there when the Vulcan plant was there. I photographed the signs for future reference and I'm using them to make this determination. I can't post them here because it would be a copyright violation. They have a postcard image of the Vulcan Street Plant along with the Tioga Mill and Appleton Paper & Pulp Mill (its foundation is still remains at the edge of the Fox River). The Vulcan Mill looked NOTHING like the image that you linked to. I don't recognize the locale but I'm not a local person. The coordinates on the map that you linked to is located over 1 hour's drive from Appleton so I'm confused. Royalbroil 03:51, 2 June 2011 (UTC)

To any NASCAR related administrators,

I need you to ban a certain anonymous user's IP address. It is 97.83.123.13 He keeps making false changes to the Sprint Cup Limited Schedule section of drivers, claiming that HP is running the #55, with Family Dollar and "Transformers 3, Turner Motorsrpots is running in the Cup Series (which they're not). The problem with the user is that he keeps making so many tiny edits that it's impossible to fully undo all of the damage he's done. The Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help

Featured Article is a HUGE task which I'm not apparently not capable of. I've tried and Good Article is the best that I'll shoot for. I have better things to do than spend months of my time on one article just to find that some minor detail isn't done by some obscure method that is constantly changing. This article is very small so extremely far from featured. FA is a long, difficult and involved process that is very formal. Asher's at it again

I just removed one of Asher's websites from the Above & Beyond article. The website says: "Website Designed by Sheboygan Communications" which is linked to Asher. I thought he was banned from editing?? 66.190.32.220 (talk) 22:13, 19 June 2011 (UTC)

Yes, he is indefinitely banned. I don't know if he's tied in with Sheboygan Communications, but that doesn't matter to me. It is their official website, it looks appropriate, Asher is not mentioned anywhere on the website, so I think it should be returned. I'll add it back but on the Sheboygan Communications website says: "Asher Heimermann is the President & Chief Executive Officer of Sheboygan Communications. Banned means that he's not able to edit and he's not welcome to be a member of the community, see Wikipedia:Banning policy. I don't see why that prohibits linking to an official website for a valid Wikipedia entry just because he has designed their website. It's not like he's adding it to their article. I can see a good case on both sides and I'm not concerned either way. If you want to nominate it for deletion, then the reason to do so is because it doesn't have reliable sources. The reason to keep is because they have been a long-term NASCAR sponsor, especially the Winner's Circle program has been a really good money making program for the drivers. Article of the month – 2010 Toyota/Save Mart 350, a good article. The 2010 Toyota/Save Mart 350 was a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stock car race held on June 20, 2010 at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California. Contested over 110 laps, it was the sixteenth race of the 2010 Sprint Cup Series season and the first of two road course competitions on the schedule. The race was won by Jimmie Johnson, for the Hendrick Motorsports team. Robby Gordon finished second, and Kevin Harvick, who started fourth, clinched third. Conditions were sunny at the start of the race, making the track potentially slippery. Pole position driver Kasey Kahne maintained his lead into the first corner, but Johnson, who had started in the second position on the grid, took the lead before the first lap was over. Kahne suffered an ill-handling car during the beginning of the race, causing him to fall to seventh by the sixth lap. Seven laps before the finish, race leader Marcos Ambrose, turned his car off to try to save fuel, but he could not refire the engine and subsequently stalled. He dropped back from the lead to sixth place with seven laps remaining, allowing Kahne to finish fourth and Jeff Gordon fifth. There were eight cautions and twelve lead changes among eight different drivers throughout the course of the race, Johnson's fourth win of the season and his first ever at Infineon. The result moved him up four spots to second in the Drivers' Championship, 140 points behind of leader Kevin Harvick and one ahead of Kyle Busch. I think the image looks centered wrong. Nothing is straight on it. I'd rotate it so that the backstretch goes straight left-right either on the top or the bottom of the image. That's how I've always seen speedways done. The font is too hard to read. I'd pick one that less loopy like Arial and make it several sizes larger. I'd probably drop the north arrow. Calumet County

Hi- I hope you are doing well. I had been starting articles about the various Wisconsin unincorporated communities especially those who had redlinks and are on important highways. Sheboygan South High School

Thanks for your help. It looks much better. I added the SHS Facebook page, since it has nearly 1,500 fans and it appears to be directly connected to the school. I left just around the time before they started using it but I know they are behind it since they promote it via the P.A. system and announcements.

Thank you for removing the links. I'm not offended by them, but I think it helps you by showing that you mean business instead of using it as a social networking place like you did years ago. Also, the external links for articles changed about 1 year ago. For some reason unknown to me, consensus decided against listing all of a subject's social media (like Facebook). Justin Allgaier leads the field after the final caution brought out by the spun out car in the background at Road America during the 2011 Bucyrus 200 Nationwide Series race. All that Allgaier had to do was drive slowly under a caution flag around the track but he ran out of the fuel and could not complete the final lap. He only went a few hundred meters (yards) before running out of fuel in the next corner. Second place car Ron Fellows was ruled to have passed the third place car so he was given the second place finish. Article of the month – 2011 Daytona 500, a new Good Article The 2011 Daytona 500, the 53rd running of the event, was held on February 20, 2011 at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida over 200 laps on the 2.5 mile (4 km) asphalt tri-oval. First race of the 2011 Sprint Cup Series season, it was won by the Wood Brothers Racing team entrant Trevor Bayne who became the youngest winner of the race. Carl Edwards was second ahead of David Gilliland. Pole position driver Kurt Busch led from the start ahead of Jeff Gordon who started second on the grid. The crowd stood in silence during lap 3 to mark the tenth anniversary of the death of Dale Earnhardt. On lap 30 a multiple accident occurred involving 17 drivers. On lap 197 the fifteenth caution was flagged causing a green-white-checker finish. David Ragan was leading at the time but was black flagged for moving into the lower lane before the finish line. Immediately after the restart, a sixteenth caution was given. Bayne took the lead on the lap 206 restart and maintained it to win his first NASCAR race and Wood Brothers' fifth Daytona 500. There were 16 cautions and 74 lead changes among 22 different drivers throughout. Following the race, Edwards led the Drivers' Championship with 42 points, one ahead of Gilliland and Bobby Labonte. Ford led the Manufacturer Championship with nine points, three ahead of Toyota and five ahead of Dodge. A total of 182,000 people attended the race, while 15.6 million watched it on television. Article of the month – Tim Richmond, a good article Tim Richmond (June 7, 1955 - August 13, 1989) was an American race car driver from Ashland, Ohio. He competed in IndyCar racing before transferring to NASCAR's Winston Cup Series (now Sprint Cup Series). Richmond was the first driver to change from open wheel racing to NASCAR stock cars, which has since become an industry trend. He won the 1980 Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year award and had 13 victories during eight NASCAR seasons. Richmond achieved his top NASCAR season in 1986 when he finished third in points. He won seven races that season, more than any other driver on the tour. When he missed the season-opening Daytona 500 in February 1987, media reported that he had pneumonia. The infection most likely resulted from his compromised immune system, which had been weakened by AIDS. The disease would drastically shorten his life. Despite the state of his health, Richmond competed in eight races in 1987, winning two events and one pole position before his final race in August of that year. He attempted a comeback in 1988 before NASCAR banned him for testing positive for a banned substance. Richmond grew up in a wealthy family and lived a debauched lifestyle, earning him the nickname "Hollywood". In describing Richmond's influence in the sport of racing, Lowe's Motor Speedway president Humpy Wheeler said: "We've never had a race driver like Tim in stock car racing. He was almost a James Dean-like character." When Richmond was cast for a bit part in the 1983 movie Stroker Ace, "He fell right in with the group working on the film," said director Hal Needham. Cole Trickle, the main character in the movie Days of Thunder, played by Tom Cruise, was loosely based on Richmond and his interaction with Harry Hyde and Rick Hendrick. (More...)

Nope, none of them. Last week I took a huge amount of photographs while traveling around the top of Lake Michigan to Mackinaw City, Michigan / Mackinac Island and Traverse City, Michigan. I took over 3000 but most are duplicates and scenery shots. It will take me a long time to process all of them. It was a great trip. I'm planning a trip to Crandon, Wisconsin next weekend and if the weather is good for Saturday I'm heading to races at Tomahawk, Wisconsin for my first time. I'm hoping to get a bunch between Tomahawk and Crandon especially Rhinelander. Unfortunately the races start at 9am so I doubt I'll time to do more than a quick drive through. Driver History?

Some drivers who have raced for more than 10 seasons are getting extremely long "Cup Series career" sections. Should we make a new Article and separate the complete race by race commentary into another article? For example, should I split Jeff Gordon into Jeff Gordon Cup Series career? User:Nascar1996 referred me here. WP:SIZEGUIDE would say to split the article, but in the real world, should we split the article? Thanks.--intelati^talk 21:30, 7 September 2011 (UTC)

I wouldn't split it without doing a serious review of the article as a whole. In a quick glance, it looks like the article has WAY too much detail from 2007 until the present. We don't need to know every time that he finished 3rd during each season. Do you think that an average reader wants to know at that level? I doubt it. Marian University

Hi-Apparently someone from Marian University put a deletion templete on the Marian University article-the university is in Fond du Lac. Good job! It's not up to their administration whether or not there is an article on Wikipedia. I guarantee you that the article won't be deleted. It's probably someone acting like a member of their administration. Hi Royalbroil, sorry to keep you waiting so long for my reply. After giving this some very serious thought, I've decided not to accept nor decline your proposal at this time. Adminship is a direction I hadn't previously given much thought to, and never a direction I thought I was heading. Your recent message however, has indeed planted the seeds of consideration, and it now seems plausible that I may wish to pursue adminship at a later date. At present, I feel that I may be lacking experience in some critical areas such as ANI and RfA participation, general consensus discussions, and even participation in AfD debates (though steady but infrequent). I also lack interest in large-scale writing and creation of new articles. Though I have stalked and lurked over a few RfAs in the past, one thing that really gets me is the forum's frequent use of unusual grammar and terminology that I don't always understand clearly... not about the policies themselves, but more about the description of tasks and processes used to apply them. I think walking into an RfA at this point, would almost be like walking into court without a lawyer ;). If trust, dedication, ability to work peacefully with others, and the ability and make rational judgement calls (based on good common sense and policy) is what the community is looking for, I would probably feel much more confident as an RfA candidate. I take issues of vandalism, abuse, quality control, functionality, and presentation very seriously. I would be much more inclined to accept a proposal for admin mentorship at this point, if only I felt that your personal life would allow you the time. If you or someone you know and trust would be interested in taking me under their wing to show me the extended ropes and help gain more experience in key admin areas (and jargon), I would be far less hesitant to give you a definite answer.

Please excuse the awkwardness of my reply, as our topic is completely random to anything I had been thinking about prior to receiving your message. I clearly understand that the standards for adminship are very high, and honestly never thought that my approach to Wikipedia would ever be held in such regard. My respect for admins stems mainly through my acknowledgement that they have been trusted to be admins by the wiki-community by consensus... and I respect consensus even when I don't agree. I don't think any of us totally agree with the entire package all the time, but the best contributors are those who can put personal opinions aside and continue following the scheme as it's been decided by the community. With that said, it's not every admin that gets my personal golden seal of approval, but there are many others who I think are simply incredible and clearly demonstrate why they've been trusted by the wiki-community to be admins by their actions and contributions alone. It's safe to say that I could never imagine living up to the quality level of some of my favourite admins, but the same could be said about many non-admins who I cross editing paths with frequently. I realise (as you say) that admins are really just contributors with mops, but I know there are times when I get stuck and really depend on that mop and its second opinion... and the element of trust in these situations often goes a long way. I'm not at all disappointed that you've declined to mentor as it's clear that we both understand what areas I should be applying myself to, and it's probably something I could chew off on my own without burning up a lot of your valuable time. Perhaps I could check in with you periodically by email if I happen to run into any snags along the way. Article of the month – 2010 AAA 400, a good article The 2010 AAA 400 was a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stock car race held on September 26, 2010 at Dover International Speedway in Dover, Delaware. The 400 lap race was the twenty-eighth in the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, as well as the second race in the ten-race Chase for the Sprint Cup, which ends the season. The race was won by Jimmie Johnson, of the Hendrick Motorsports team. Jeff Burton finished second, and Joey Logano, who started nineteenth, clinched third. Pole position driver Jimmie Johnson maintained his lead on the first lap to begin the race, as A. J. Allmendinger, who started in the second position on the grid, remained behind him. Fourteen laps later Allmendinger became the leader of the race. Chase for the Sprint Cup participants Clint Bowyer, and Tony Stewart were in the top ten for most of the race, but in the closing laps all of them suffered spins or other problems. Afterward, Johnson became the leader of the race, once Allmendinger pitted because of a loose wheel. Johnson maintained the first position to lead the most laps of 191, and to win his sixth race of the season. There were four cautions and eighteen lead changes among ten different drivers throughout the course of the race. It was Jimmie Johnson's sixth win in the 2010 season, and the fifty-third of his career. The result moved Johnson up to second in the Drivers' Championship, thirty-five points behind Denny Hamlin and ten ahead of Kyle Busch. Chevrolet maintained its lead in the Manufacturers' Championship, thirty-five ahead of Toyota and eighty ahead of Ford, with eight races remaining in the season. A total of 88,000 people attended the race, while 3.966 million watched it on television. (More...)
