Speedy deletion of The black fashion museum edit

A tag has been placed on The black fashion museum requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. -- Swerdnaneb 20:45, 21 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Copy-vio and COI edit

I'm not really sure where to start... I don't think this is too complicated, but I'm also afraid that I'm going to leave something out. Here's the short version: I don't think Wikipedia can legally have those articles copy-pasted from your book until and unless you jump through a hoop or two regarding the licensing of the text. You, presumably, hold the copyright to this text. In order for this to all work out smoothly, you will need to follow the directions on this page. I am going to try to drag someone in here who knows more about this than me so that they can help you with this. After we get the copy-vio problem taken care of... some people might not be happy about the conflict of interest issues associated with you possibly being seen as promoting your book. -- Swerdnaneb 22:25, 21 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Serdnaneb asked me to review this as well. Put simply, there are a couple of issues here, but they are not unsurmountable. Firstly, you cannot put excerpts of your book onto Wikipedia. The book is copyrighted. Yes, you may own the copyright. But if you release it onto Wikipedia you would release the words under the GFDL licence. I cannot imaginge your publishers would be overly happy that you are freely releasing your work!! Secondly, I note that at the end of the articles we have "Source text from ...." with an ISBN number and a price. If you were merely citing your book as a reliable source why would you need the price? This, I'm afraid, makes it look more like advertising for your books than an encyclopedia article with references. In summary, please understand that due to the copyright and semi-advertising nature of the articles they had to be deleted. If you wish to recreate them citing multiple sources and with the text totally rewritten there is no problem, of course, at least in the context that we are within here. You may find some help at this page as well. Best Regards. Pedro :  Chat  07:02, 22 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
