Wikipedia and copyright edit

  Hello Ritarko2015, and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your addition(s) to Baghini (2016 film) has had to be removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 17:16, 9 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

December 2016 edit

  Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. You can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing →   Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Thanks! 220 of Borg 00:44, 29 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Managing a conflict of interest edit

  Hello, Ritarko2015. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Rita Jhawar, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. Winged Blades Godric 06:01, 25 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

June 2017 edit

  Thank you for your contributions. Please mark your edits as "minor" only if they are minor edits. In accordance with Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes or rearrangement of text without modification of content. Additionally, the reversion of clear-cut vandalism and test edits may be labeled "minor". Thank you. Winged Blades Godric 06:02, 25 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Your submission and about sourcing edit

Greetings. The sole reason for your declination was your sources. In your long list of references, some are alright but most are not. Source #1, Times of India is a good sources and source of such quality should be cited more. However, there are some references which are not reliable, especially #17. For reliable sourcing, you should go for: major newspaper, a factual, widely-published book, high-quality generally trusted mainstream publications. Not blogs, MySpace, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, fansites, Twitter, wikis, or other sites with user-generated content. I've also seen twitter and insta sources posted on my talkpage by you regarding this submission. Read: WP:RS Another dire situation would be that most of your sources are the same. They are routine publishing, sources you give are different websites but their article and content are the same. Please do not spam the references. Instead, try to look for quality sources from or of prestigious Indian names like Times of India, Deccan Chronicle and etc. For your "Official selection" section, your sources didn't mentioned the phrase Marché du Film at all. Or perhaps you would like to change it to 71st Cannes Film Festival ? To avoid the confusion that is.

Now, about sourcing, it is best for references to have significant coverage about the subject. Not passing mentions, not directory listings, not just any old thing that happens to have the name in it. Secondly, nothing written by the subject, paid for by the subject, or affiliated with the subject are considered reliable sources. Not their website, and not a press release. The sources must be independent. Do improve on your sourcing as this movie is a notable subject. If you have anymore questions, ping me or post it at the AfC Helpdesk, cheers. EROS message 11:08, 14 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Another thing, please do not insert user-generated content. This also includes Wikipedia itself. Wikipedia is edited by editors like you and me. Hence, it is user-generated as well. EROS message 07:11, 15 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Reply edit

Greetings. About your question of why some articles do not have sources, please read: WP:OTHERSTUFF. Some new editors fail to insert quality sources and some did not cite any at all. Just because one poor article exists doesn't mean we should create a new one; poor articles should either be fixed or deleted. The need to cite such quality sources and go through such stringent procedures is to ensure that the quality of Wikipedia is in no way jeopardised or compromised. Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia. It is the duty of editors to give correct and reliable information to those out there, and to uphold the standards of Wikipedia. Nevertheless, I have tagged the articles for deletion. 1. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kichu_Na_Bola_Kotha, 2. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rana_Mazumder

Cheers and may you explore and get use to Wikipedia. Have fun editing. EROS message 11:43, 16 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation link notification for April 23 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Sudeep Ranjan Sarkar, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page English (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver).
