Hi

"Hatebreed" and "the Unseen" were Just added . they haven't been here for about two years at least one . Neither are hardcore Punk . Why are you so on me about this . ? I am correct . The whole scene of hardcore punk doesn't consider Punk Rock or Metalcore "Hardcore Punk" .

So basically you are reverting something making a list less true and Pure and ACCURATE . Why not get off it . Its been left off for Years , That IS consensus . No Matter how many copies either may have sold . — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.39.152.45 (talk) 19:50, 16 June 2014 (UTC)

Hi,
I replied on your talk page in some detail before seeing this. So as to avoid parallel discussions, let's just talk there: User talk:68.39.152.45. --— Rhododendrites talk |  20:04, 16 June 2014 (UTC)

Ok , Thank You for your help and insight . This page Clearly states that the new wave of british heavy metal is one of the components thus the "heavy-ier" feel than punk . Someone put in metal I thought it was already there for a long time, it kept getting removed . after some careful thought (I was there) I studied music history from Johnny Dodds to "hardcore punk" , I looked it to it and it makes total sense. The complaint from one page is there was no source and it was tagged I think as as "fact claim" . I looked to see if there was a source there was , it got removed all of a sudden by 3 pages. No explanation . Except the kind of "cop" out, "Not reliable because its at about.com" , the writer is a college educated journalist since late 80s. Not "about.com" he just wrote something they "host" .

So a completely different page gets created and reverts it anytime I put it back, so I decided to further inspect the story and online history (section) at the page in the U.K section which is part of the creation (Next to a Picture of Lemmy) says "Referred to under a number of names including "U.K. Hardcore", "UK 82", "second wave punk",[66] "real punk",[67] and "No Future punk",[68] it took the previous punk sound and added the incessant, heavy drumbeats and distorted guitar sound of New Wave of British Heavy Metal bands, especially Motörhead.[69]" So I felt the "heavy metal" may have mislead and changed it to the more appropriate NWOBHM and this new page changes it its the only thing the page has ever done , created a few days ago, no explanation, no discussion on the talk page, removing sourced material and contradicting the article itself . Now that page has done 4 reverts. in one day....Can you go and see this please. I don't always sign in to my page and I realize I may have not reached the status to be able to handle this by not getting credit for all my work here . Ill probably never ask you for help again buy you seem to be Very helpful . Thank You.

This page doing the 4 reverts today ; basically by definition edit warring . http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Notavulgarusername — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.39.152.45 (talk) 07:45, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

Ps Im cool with whatever happens but I think "we" who ever of those people want to be involved should debate things out on the talk page and come to the right conclusion TOGETHER . There is no reason that it is being removed , unless someone is ashamed that "old style metal" made Punk Rock "heavier and thus HARDCORE Punk was the next "level" or "step" in punks growth . However its Actually In the Story from YEARS ago .68.39.152.45 (talk) 07:50, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

@68.39.152.45: I don't think I follow your line of argumentation (which is not to say I disagree with it). Regarding the back-and-forth at Hardcore punk, you could report Notavulgarusername for violation of 3RR, and you would be right to since the user doesn't show any indication he/she is willing to talk about this. The thing is, you are also in violation of WP:3RR, which if drawing attention to notavulgarusername would probably get you blocked, too. It's not a page I follow and you (and those who edit the page regularly) almost certainly know a lot more than I do on the subject, but I'll add this one additional thing to help you engage on the talk page: In my experience, if you were to judge about.com on the whole, it's not reliable, but on a case-by-case basis it has many times been determined to be reliable. Generally it should be treated as a self-published source and thus is dependent on the author -- if someone is a well known music journalist and publishes something on about.com, it can be treated as reliable for many purposes (again, very context-dependent). If the author isn't someone who has a reputation for work elsewhere, it's almost never going to be considered reliable. One more thing: the reason there's a perception that experienced users have more power on Wikipedia than new users is because everything is so driven by policies/guidelines with long deliberative histories behind each one -- and experienced users are good at understanding what kinds of things jibe with policy and what don't (not to mention very good at linking to policy to stand in for an argument). If you can support your edits that way, you have just as much power. Again, this is not me weighing in on this subject. I haven't even looked at the about.com article. Just trying to help. --— Rhododendrites talk |  18:16, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

You shouldn't be reverting to changes without knowing the subject.

Thank you, Rhododendrites. The BLP can't promote falsehood, read like CV and talk puffery. As someone who edit here for long, you should understand. The article has wrong information like BPL Mobile (this existed earlier and is now shut). It says 'established' entrepreneur, and uses a horde of other adjectives to describe falling in the category which Wiki doesn't allow. Besides, some of verified facts that has been put is supported by citation. So please don't make haphazard changes. Many thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Holzman1964 (talkcontribs)

I see that you're familiar with some Wikipedia policies, so perhaps also check out WP:BLP, WP:EDITWAR, and most importantly in this case WP:GAME. Despite your edit summaries, replacing date of birth information, adding things like "second rung politician" ... "better known for wealth and fancy cars" is entirely vandalism. --— Rhododendrites talk |  06:10, 1 July 2014 (UTC)
If you want to make specific changes, I'd recommend mentioning them on the talk page rather than resorting to vandalism and edit wars. You're right that I know nothing of the subject -- I just saw someone adding "better known for wealth and fancy cars" to an article -- obvious vandalism -- and reverted. --— Rhododendrites talk |  06:16, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

CSDs of sock-created articles

User Binksternet is not interested in any dialog with other editors, because he is determined to have every article by a banned user deleted, regardless of their merit or the objections of other editors. Six years and 150,000+ edits do not mean I am not caught off guard by some technicality. I hope to get all the Philadelphia streets articles which were speedy deleted back in existence.

Please call on me if you need any assistance or support.--DThomsen8 (talk) 21:36, 2 July 2014 (UTC)

Sphilbrick created a thread at WP:Village pump (idea lab) you should take part in. Binksternet did seem quite dead-set on having them deleted, but having dealt with sock puppets myself (which is frustrating and time consuming) I can understand the WP:DENY perspective even if I don't always agree with it. Regardless, I think the easiest solution would be to basically count other editors in good standing "vouching" for the content as equivalent to other editors making contributions to the article (which prevents CSDG5), but I guess we'll hash that out at VPI. --— Rhododendrites talk |  23:15, 2 July 2014 (UTC)

Sorting things

Hello Rhododendrites. We have just finished up the Almedalen Week here on Gotland, and I took your advice given to me earlier here, section "Bunge", and photographed the whole thing. Those pictures are now here. It was fun and I think I'll do some more roaming here with my camera, so thanks for the idea. :) I have also started to structure my user page a bit, and since my archiving bot has kicked in I want to move my barn stars to a separate page (vain as I am). How is this done best? Is it a simple matter of cut & paste and just writing "Moved to..." on the archived page, or do I use some "Move" option? I know how to move whole pages, but these are just sections, so... Some advice would really be appreciated. Best, - W.carter (talk) 14:19, 6 July 2014 (UTC)

James Wardell

I declined the PROD - too many refs. We must expect refs to vanish with time - WP:LINKROT - that can never be an excuse on it's own to delete an article. I tried to see if the refs are repairable, and some are with the wayback machine (e.g. http://web.archive.org/web/20100220215548/http://www.oce.com/es/News/Newsbulletins/jameswardell.htm). Suggest AfD if you are still convinced it needs to go. Ronhjones  (Talk) 19:43, 8 July 2014 (UTC)

Hi! Would you care to review my FA nomination for the article Of Human Feelings? The article is about a jazz album by Ornette Coleman, and the criteria for FA articles is at WP:FACR. If not, feel free to ignore this message. Cheers! Dan56 (talk) 05:13, 7 July 2014 (UTC)

Hi Dan56, sorry I wasn't available to take care of this (wikibreak). Glad to see you found a reviewer in the meantime. --— Rhododendrites talk |  05:24, 14 September 2014 (UTC)

Request for assistance

You've already done so much to try to mediate this dispute, but if you're able to offer any additional help now at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/incidents (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Administrators%27_noticeboard/Incidents#Harassment_by_user_Festal82), I would appreciate it more than you know. I've been one person taking on three for weeks now and I've become exhausted. Festal82 (talk) 14:49, 9 July 2014 (UTC)

@Festal82: - Sorry, life called and wanted me to take a wikibreak. I'm curious where the article and associated editors are these days, but I'm haven't checked it/the talk page since I won't have enough free time to wander back into that mire for another few weeks. --— Rhododendrites talk |  05:48, 14 September 2014 (UTC)

The Spirit of Truth

Were you ever able to come up with enough reliable sources for the article The Spirit of Truth, or should we just delete it for the time being? --Bejnar (talk) 17:16, 22 July 2014 (UTC)

@Bejnar: - Yeah, I figured it was heading in that direction. I had found mediocre sources, but don't know if they would've been sufficient and went on an extended wikibreak before the end of the AfD anyway. Regardless, if I feel like I amass enough I'll just recreate the article or a draft and see where it goes -- won't be any time soon, though. --— Rhododendrites talk |  06:03, 14 September 2014 (UTC)

AfDs need more input

Hi.

There are a couple of AfDs the desperately need additional high-quality input, either because they are relisted twice so far or have extremely low inputs so far. I thought it was high time I publicized them. Here they are:

Your input would be appreciated.

Back in early July you were involved in a situation concerning the notability of the four Legends Football League Australia teams where I (under the IP of 101.160.135.215 at the time) was maintaining what I saw as a perfectly acceptable re-direct. On the talk page of that IP I made my points - firstly in opposition to the 31 hour block, and then in follow up over the issue at hand. It was pointed out to me that there were other channels to use, and I maintain that there are not - creating a conflict issue. As explained to JPGordon on that talk tage, I can't use DR because that concerns one page only (this is four pages) and I can't start AfD's because according to the talk page there, IP's shouldn't be doing that. (I tried to locate the relevant discussion but was unable to - it included an accusation that all IP's are suspected to be a banned user which was paranoid although apparently understandable at the time IIRC). So I'm at a loss as to what to do here. You'd be helping a lot if you were to nominate them for me (if you agree that they aren't notable but offer the re-direct instead of the delete) but otherwise some help is needed. 144.137.40.224 (talk) 22:27, 29 September 2014 (UTC)

Ok so the articles we're talking about are Western Australia Angels, Queensland Brigade, Victoria Maidens, and New South Wales Surge, right? I couldn't remember the specifics of what was going on, but based on the edit history it looks like you (and several other unregistered users) were trying to force a redirect. Since Wikipedia operates by consensus and has strict rules about edit warring, even if it meets all of the requirements for a redirect or deletion, trying to create it that way doesn't work. That said, it's not at all clear to me that these merit deletion (or turning into redirect), so I wouldn't feel comfortable nominating them for you. But here's what you can do:
  • Register a username and nominate one (or more) at WP:AFD.
  • Propose deletion, which is different from AfD -- less formal -- but any one person can shoot it down.
  • Talk about it on one of the article talk pages.
  • Dispute resolution is typically about one article, yes, but you can choose any one of them to talk about. Regardless, though, DR is for article content disputes not disagreements about whether or not an article should exist. So this probably isn't the right way to go anyway, unless I misunderstand your intentions.
I'm happy to help you through the various processes, but based on the previous exchanges on the subject I'm going to guess (with or without my help on one side or the other) that a redirect isn't going to fly here, sorry. --— Rhododendrites talk |  15:03, 30 September 2014 (UTC)
*Registering a username and then going straight to AfD is not SOP.
*IIRC the prod has already been tried, and another IP (who I believe is being disruptive but he keeps changing IP every time he or she comes in to WP) always removes it or does something else.
*I've tried that tactic before with other articles, and the creator has always totally ignored it.
*Why doesn't a re-direct "fly"? LFL Australia has a section on the Legends Football League page so it's the perfect target. The clubs are utter fails of WP:N and I stand by that. The coverage given fails the test, and it is even close (but doesn't violate] WP:ADV. I did try to tag them as such and was told it wasn't. 144.137.40.224 (talk) 23:46, 30 September 2014 (UTC)
