Request for Adoption.

I would like to be adopted by a (more) experienced editor. I know most of what and editor needs to know, but there is still some stuff I'd like to learn. I am active every day (all day) EXCEPT weekends. Please let me know if you are interested in another adoptee, on my talk page. I spend a lot of time on the Simple English Wikipedia too, this is where I have created 30 articles, and made over 2,300 edits. Thank you for your time.-PendingTell me I screwed up! 18:47, 24 January 2014 (UTC)

Why do all the adoptees I consider accepting turn out to be sockpuppets? This is about the third one.   Rcsprinter (chinwag) @ 15:41, 28 January 2014 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Q-go

Hi. You closed Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Q-go (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) last year. I since found some sources and have now reinstated the article (rather than taking it to DRV). You may wish to comment at Wikipedia talk:Deletion review#Template:Olddelccc. Cheers. -- Trevj (talk · contribs) 15:52, 30 January 2014 (UTC)

WikiCup 2014 January newsletter

The 2014 WikiCup is off to a flying start, with, at time of writing, 138 participants. The is the largest number of participants we have seen since 2010. If you are yet to join the competition, don't worry- the judges have agreed to keep the signups open for a few more days. By a wide margin, our current leader is newcomer   Godot13 (submissions), whose set of 14 featured pictures, the first FPs of the competition, was worth 490 points. Here are some more noteworthy scorers:

Featured articles, featured lists, featured topics and featured portals are yet to play a part in the competition. The judges have removed a number of submissions which were deemed ineligible. Typically, we aim to see work on a project, followed by a nomination, followed by promotion, this year. We apologise for any disappointment caused by our strict enforcement this year; we're aiming to keep the competition as fair as possible.

Wikipedians interested in friendly competition may be interested to take part in The Core Contest; unlike the WikiCup, The Core Contest is not about audited content, but, like the WikiCup, it is about article improvement; specifically, The Core Contest is about contribution to some of Wikipedia's most important article. Of course, any work done for The Core Contest, if it leads to a DYK, GA or FA, can earn WikiCup points.

If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to help keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. DYK prep set

Is there a reason why you assembled Prep 4 out of sequence? Could it be inserted into the queue earlier than prep 2 or 3, or is it reserved for a particular time? --Orlady (talk) 19:36, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

Same issue, there are two Czech DYKs on top of each other in Prep 4, could they be at least separated, preferably onto different updates? Thanks, C679 19:39, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
It's not reserved, it's just that it looked like someone already started prep 3 and I didn't want to have a conflict with them. And sorry for not noticing the two Czech hooks, yes one can be moved elsewhere. Rcsprinter (tell me stuff) @ 19:51, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
Ok, I have moved one into Prep 3. Thanks, C679 20:11, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
I moved it back as the other Czech one had got removed as it was due for a different date. Rcsprinter (gossip) @ 21:37, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
Excuse me, Rcsprinter123. Can we have the Jazz Club back on P3 (slated for Q1), please? The hook is most likely to draw interest from people in the Czech Republic and the United States, so it's better to have the hook on MainPage when it's not bedtime in these places. Also, the nominator will be more likely to be available to respond to any problems that may arise while the hook appears on MainPage. Thanks for your consideration. --PFHLai (talk) 21:54, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
Yes, done. Rcsprinter (shout) @ 22:21, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
Thank you, Rcsprinter123. --PFHLai (talk) 22:26, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

Coat of arms of Groningen

I was really surprised to see that you've rejected my DYK nomination for Coat of arms of Groningen (province). I only became aware of the issue of the single source an hour ago, after waiting several days without a response to the nomination. I have immediately added two additional sources to the article, which seemed to be the only issue with the DYK nom. Can you perhaps reconsider your rejection? – Editør (talk) 23:33, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

Now that I see your circumstances, that's fine. I have undone the rejection. The rejection was partly based on the article being at AfD but I now see that is being addressed. Thank you for contacting me. Rcsprinter (tell me stuff) @ 00:06, 10 February 2014 (UTC)

DYK Claims for WikiCup

Hi there, I've just reverted the addition of claims for two DYKs on your WikiCup points page - significant work on the article would be expected by a user who was claiming the points. With each of those two articles there was not enough work to warrant the points being awarded. Miyagawa (talk) 19:17, 19 February 2014 (UTC)

@Miyagawa: Well, I was allowed to do that last year. Rcsprinter123 (chinwag) @ 23:29, 19 February 2014 (UTC)
I've just double checked this with the other admins and it seems that you shouldn't have been last year either. Miyagawa (talk) 14:18, 20 February 2014 (UTC)
