Some deletions necessary edit

I have marked on 2 pages Abhishekh_Bachhan and Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar for deletion/redirection since there are already other pages with a more correct name on the topic. How to make someone take action? Supten 11:38, 4 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Done. Thanks. --Ragib 04:42, 5 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Your notes to Nemo edit

Thanks for the encouragement.

I've travelled a lot around India, etc., and regard myself as a not quite so provincial as most Americans. I'm discovering, however, that I must have been interacting with Indians who shared my sense of tolerance and scholarship.

It has been a major revelation to discover just how many people (apparently) are ready to shade, color, or ignore facts, or to make up "facts" in order to support a political viewpoint that is frankly bigotted and hateful. I had no idea how much this sort of behavior was tolerated or even encouraged. I am very very shocked by how very provincial I have been. I had no idea how pervasive this sort of shabby thinking had established itself. As a card-carrying US blue-state Liberal Democrat, this has forced me to re-assess my view of the world across the oceans. And now, seeing it abroad, I turn my eyes to my own country, and now recognize the same sort of behavior beginning to spread in the US as well.

I have begun to think that this is the end of civilization as I have known it. Not unlike what someone might have felt as Hitler began to come to power, or Aurangzeb in 1658. I'm not sure I much want to see what the next step looks like.

Hey ,so PhD in computer science eh.Well thats cool and the cartoon was funny lmao:) And did you know about the engineering/physics related contest at the 2005 year of physics because i was their and me and my team entered in it and we won :) and we had a lot of fun and it was pretty cool. Welcome and newbi question edit

Hi Ragib,

I added some information to the page Product Lifecycle Management. I notice that this is what is called a Stub. How can this become an article or a catagory. I think that PLM should be a catagory with sub-catagories which would include current catagories such as CAD (Computer aided design) PDM (Product data managment) and a number of others. Would I have to start a number of Move requests?

Congrats!!! edit

Dear Ragib, Heartiest congratulations for having become an administrator! Supten 04:27, 8 August 2005 (UTC) I shall try to look into the facts and figures you have asked for. If you can find someone based in Kolkata, he or she will get better access from the National Libray, Asiatic Society Library or other big libraries. I am presently working in Kochi in Kerala and am handicapped in that respect. Supten 05:40, 10 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Dear Ragib, From the Net I found the following:

1. http://www.discoverybangladesh.com/history.html (3 million people killed) 2. http://www.bangla2000.com/Bangladesh/war.shtm (The Pakistani army massacred 35,000 Bengali intellectuals and unleashed a brutal war against the Bangalees of East Pakistan to prevent their secession. But no one let the dream encircled flag fall down to dust . During the nine month struggle which ensued an estimated three million Bengalis died and and ten million refuges fled into India Sheikh Mujib was imprisoned in west Pakistan.) 3. http://www.virtualbangladesh.com/history/holocaust.html (An excellent account of the various global newspapers reporting the incident) The third source looks to be quite exhaustive. Khandakar Mushtaq Ahmed edit

Sorry, I should have explained it. The capital letters indicate the family name. So what I want to know is: what is Khandakar's family name? Is it Mushtaq Ahmed or Ahmed?

Also, what is his Bangla name? It should go in the article, and we might be able to find some standard transliteration system. --Taejo 10:52, 9 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Dear Mel Etitis,

Good day , you can block me anytime but you can't block the truth . this guy --Rajib is accusing others over the limitation. why am i using my time for him??? think about that! he is contionusly accusing some organization without getting proper prove. he had done a lot unwanted action but nobody is finding the truth . he is continously involving other's affair which he don't have enough knowledge. He may be too much over smart .. so better think about both side not my side. thanks --212.138.47.24 19:46, 9 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Dear Anon, thanks for your rant. First of all, please spell my name and user name correctly. Secondly, please provide a reason why you seem so upset with me in particular. Why? You haven't ever mentioned that at all, other than "How-dare-he-edits-some-articles" argument. I do involve in the affairs of wikipedia, in particular the edits from the ip block 213.138.47.* because many of the ips in this block seem to be engaged in vandalism. Proof of that is available in the contributions of , say, 212.138.47.24 (talk · contribs) and here is a diff of vandalism of my user page. I do look into such vandalism, and would always deal with them. As for the "truth", well, go ahead, you are welcome to add facts to the articles and contribute to wikipedia. But please don't take the path of vandalizing user and talk and article pages. Thanks. --Ragib 21:53, 9 August 2005 (UTC)Reply
rajib, you are again started the problem . i know you are problem maker who's trying to demolish rohingya page. What's the problem with that blog?? why are you edit again again??? don't tell me long procedure and etc.. We clearly know that you are giving us trouble.

be careful ..

Dear Admin, please look at this problem . he had started again to make problem. please look at the history http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Rohingya&action=history.. i'm not expert in wiki but you should look at the truth even of what's happening over there.

thanks,--212.138.47.17 10:09, 11 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

I don't understand much of what's being said above, but all I can see at Rohingya is emotional and incoherent complaints that Ragib is editing the article. What exactly is the problem? What do you think that he's doing wrong? The nearest I can get is that you're infuriated that he described a blog as a blog... --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 11:41, 11 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

yeah.. he is editng rohingya article which is completely he don't know and he is trying to mess it . that's all i want to say now... everyone knows it and then he is continously attacked to an organization name and their website title. yes ..i agree the website build in blogger but you can't simply say blog. their organization got a suck after he mentioned wrong description. so better avoid such a thing. The website title is Free Rohingya Campaign (International) it has owns domain name : http://www.freerohingyacampaign.com not blog domain name . so better mention their original name and title . Do not try to mess their organization name . Thanks, --212.138.47.14 15:06, 11 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Conflicting numbers in the 71 war edit

Hi, if you look at Bangladesh_Liberation_War#Economic_exploitation, you'll see that in the first row, i.e. "1950/51-54/55" it reads 1129 524 and 20%. but as you can see 524 is not 20% of 1129. other years are fine except this one error. I would like to know if the error is in the W.Pak section or in the E.Pak section (my guess is E.Pak since the figure "524" is similar to the next 5 years below.). Or if it's just a calculation error in which case the percentage should read 46%.

Secondly, wasn't there a lot of simmering resentment from the bengalis that much of the income they produced to the state of pakistan was being used on kashmir. Some bengali and even a few indian and pakistani sources seem to concur on this fact that bangladeshi revenues was been seen as being spent in the himalayas. I do not have the exact reference for this but I do remember reading it more than a couple of times. If this is the case then a line on this economic diversion should also be mentioned. tx Idleguy 11:29, August 11, 2005 (UTC)

Question on lifting of geometrical diagrams edit

How do I lift geometrical diagrams to my article? See my article on Theorem on Friends and Strangers in which I want to lift two simple geometrical diagrams. --Profvk 21:18, 11 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

You can draw the geometric diagram using any software package/tool, then convert it to an image (jpg, png) and upload it. Then you can add that to the appropriate place using the [[Image:filename.png]] tag. That's the best option, that I know of. Thanks. --Ragib 21:31, 11 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

The site in question does not look like a conventional blog. I've checked out last revert and the following revert by the vandal. The two reversions seems to be only about the blog issue. Let it be as it is. Unless the article has copyvio material, I'd suggest you leave it alone and not revert. The other person is using all his resources to this article, whereas you dont have the same resources, since you have other articles to edit. Check it out in a week's time, I'm sure he'll get bored pinging the page every hour or so to check for changes. =Nichalp «Talk»= 13:56, August 12, 2005 (UTC)

I saw your request for help about Rohingya. But I need you to do something for me, first: help me to help you.

Stop labeling other users as racist immediately. And please review Wikipedia:Avoid personal remarks. Otherwise, I'll have to block the whole lot of of you for violating the policy Wikipedia:No personal attacks.

I suggest you make mild comments in talk:Rohingya, and do not revert more than once a day. Let the Administrators, like Mel and me, handle this for you. Uncle Ed 14:50, August 12, 2005 (UTC)

Thanks, Ed. I made that comment after receiving messages like I think Bengali sytle is like that huh! be shame on you pal..--Eddiewiki 19:57, 11 August 2005 (UTC). From the same set of IPs, I had received earlier this comment, NONE YOUR BUSINESS MR. MAGH.. Go back to Bengali wiki and do it whatever you like MR. MAGH. These, certainly, are nasty racist comments. I am not reverting the article anymore. Also, please review my comments and let me know if you think any of them is against any policies. Throughout my time in Wikipedia, I have always tried to comment in a civil manner. If I am at fault in any place, let me know, so I can improve. As for comments in Talk:Rohingya, you can I have been making pleas to the anon IP block and subsequent sockpuppets for a long time.
Finally thanks for handling the issue. --Ragib 14:59, 12 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Rohingya edit

Thanks for invitation to revert war, I will try to do what I can though I really know nothing about the topic :-o

Since the article is being reverted frequently I recommend to protect it for a week till hot heads cool down. This is very well in your new powers and compliant to written rules.

An user "Antiragib" is clearly personal attack in username and thus blockable on spot (as far as I remember this is part of rules too). Sockupppets of blocked user are subject of the same treatment.

An aside: if you didn't notice, on Village pump [1] someone announced that support for "stable versions" of articles is already in beta and planned to be released "soon". With such feature current power of vandals and trolls should be reduced, hopefully. Pavel Vozenilek 18:41, 12 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Rohingya edit

Hi Ragib:

I saw your note on my page; I am answering Red's questions (mostly newbie questions) at the moment. He should be back tomorrow.

First, let me say, hang in there. You're a good editor and administrator, and I'd hate to have something like this take you down. I checked that IP block, it is registered to "Internet Services Unit" in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It does seem to me that either the same user or a small collection of users are behind the edits (since they share the same style and interests, and tend to advocate for one another.) I don't think this can be settled by one admin, or even a small group of admins. I'd suggest brining it up on AN/I, where you can gather a consensus as to what to do about them; an AN/I decision could (I believe) be enough to authorize a range block of the IPs (if we had the per-article blocking tool available, this would be very easy.) Other than that, I can't offer a lot of help, except to offer moral support. If an AN/I ruling comes down, I'll be happy to help enforce it.

Hope this helps, and if you need to talk about it (to get your stres down, etc.) feel free to find me on IM or IRC. -- Essjay · Talk 04:57, August 13, 2005 (UTC)

You're welcome, I'm glad to be of help. A similar sentiment was expressed by my grandmother: "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me" (or more often, "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but I won't let words hurt me."). If any of those editors or IPs continues to make personal attacks, or resorts to vandalism of your page, let me know, and I will block them for violating NPA. Good luck, and hang in there. -- Essjay · Talk 05:34, August 13, 2005 (UTC)

Pakistan map edit

Asalam-O-Alikum

the offical map of Pakistan is here [2]
Kashmir is yet disputed and it should be shown disputed in all maps until it is not resolved.
Thanks .WiseSabre 16:58, 14 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Peace be upon you too.
I see that the map you linked here is the official pakistan govt map. Sorry for my previous comment, but what I actually meant was that the map in the info box is in the format used by all country level articles. If you can edit that map (location+map inset) showing the issue you raised, that's fine by me. I also suggest you add a non-copyvio detailed map in the subdivisions section of Pakistan. I understand the issue about Kashmir, and you can closely highlight that in detail in the more detailed map in the subdivisions section. Thanks a lot for contacting me. --Ragib 17:03, 14 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Rana,

Congratualations on your great achivement of becoming the administrator of Wikidedia.

rohingya edit

hi ragib

in linguistic terms, chittagonian is considered a separate language from the rest of bangla. it thus has many of its own dialects, including chakma, chittagonian proper, and rohingya. there is a dialect continuum stretching from chittagong into the hills and over the border into burma. in this sense, the rohingya are linguistically as bengali as the inhabitants of chittagong, although this has nothing to do with cultural or genetic relationship. just as the previously tibeto-burman chakma have adopted a form of chittagong bengali despite their non-bengali ancestry, the rohingya may have undergone a radical language change in distant history.

hope that helps! SameerKhan 00:50, 15 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

oh also - just so you have a scholarly reference to this classification, here's what SIL (one of the most respected authorities on linguistic classification) has to say about chittagonian and ronhingya, which they spell rohinga:

http://www.ethnologue.com/show_language.asp?code=cit

SameerKhan 00:54, 15 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Great ... I was born and brought up in Chittagong, (though my ancestors are not from there), and I always wondered why Chittagonian is so much different from other Bangla dialects. The difference is substantial ... I don't know if you heard 2 people chatting in proper chittagonian ... no one outside Chittagong can understand a single word. And the thing about Chittagonian being a larger group of languages spoken in Greater Chittagong/Cox's Bazaar and Arakan is also very true ... my friends from Cox's bazaar also speak in a dialect of Chittagonian, and so do the Rohingya's exiled there. Thanks for the reference ... I'll add that in the article. As you might have seen, some Rohingya editors are quite incensed at having the information on the relation between Chittagonian and Rohingya dialect ... the SIL reference should be ample proof to justify the language relationships. Thanks a lot for the information. --Ragib 01:26, 15 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

No, I have not heard full-on Chittagonian spoken at all, but I have always wanted to - the linguistic descriptions of it are intriguing - both phonologically and syntactically it is so different from Bangla... I hope to hear it spoken someday. I've noticed that some of the editors on the Rohingya article are far more violent and disrespectful than I would have expected from educated people, but what can I say. The truth is, no one can "prove" where the Rohingyas come from; we can only see what relations they currently have with the surrounding population. In the end, that shouldn't matter anyhow, as we all deserve our basic human rights from whatever country we happen to live in. I hope our small but significant changes are accepted by the editors of that article. SameerKhan 09:57, 15 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Akhtar Abdur Rehman copyvio edit

Hola Ragib, you've rightly listed the Akhtar Abdur Rahman page as violating copyright, but i suggest you inform the chap who created the article of the fact. He seems to either be unaware of the fact that copyright violations are not permitted on Wikipedia or is plainly ignoring Wikipedia rules, since this is not his first copyvio. David Lifschultz report edit

I am not sure if you have seen it, but there has recently been a report published in The Daily Star and in the Prothom Alo from an American journalist, David Lifshultz. This article is mainly about this journalist's investigation into the "Bonghobondhu killing" but it includes US conspiracy against Bangladesh's formation and Ziaur Rahman's "green signal" to the army officers who are supposed to have murdered Mujibur Rahman. Do you think it is wise to include such information in sections under Ziaur Rahman, Mujibur Rahman and US involvement in Bangladesh Liberation War?

Urnonav 17:52, 21 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

I think the name is Laurence Lifschultz...., I read parts of the report in Prothom-Alo, and the original report may be found from the Internet. The info may go to Ziaur Rahman, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman etc articles, but I don't think post-independence incidents are relevant to BD Liberation War. Incidentally, I started a page titled Military coups in Bangladesh, this is very appropriate for that page. --Ragib 17:59, 21 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

HINDI edit

I have created the Hindi name for this movie, I have just noticed that name has been changed. I find this an insult, as the name is been changed to Devanagri, Devanagri is a scriptural system used by languages such as Hindi, Marathi, Sanskrit, Punjabi, Nepali and Bengali. I'm the only one who knows the Hindi language which gives me the ability to write in Hindi. I'm not inserting the name of the move in Hindi until I get a written apology by the author of this page. The apology can be e mailed to be at Ashraydos@yahoo.co.in

YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO CHANGE IT

First of all, what movie? Secondly, you can't bully anyone in Wikipedia. And finally, if I recall correctly, you are the person who vandalized several articles with the "Asray Doshi was here" or something like that. You don't own any article in wikipedia. Please read GFDL before contributing any article here. Thanks. --Ragib 08:58, 22 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Bangabhumi/Bongobhumi? edit

I recently saw some pages on a so-called Bonghobhumi Revolution. There even exits a page on Bangabhumi. It seems this entire page is a propaganda that tries to exaggerate and presence and importance of the reveries. Being from the region that this so-called State of Bangabhumi includes, I'm a little shocked that for so long we had never known our "government" or any officials from our "government"! Would you happen to know any thing more about this revolution or may be point me to some sources on this? Urnonav 21:58, 22 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

The whole so-called "Bangabhumi" movement is the creation of a guy named Chittaranjan Chhutar, and nothing beyond that. I recall reading a news item on that almost 15 years ago, but other than that there was nothing as such. I read the Bangabhumi article, which also refers 2 other articles from the same anon IP from Ireland. Seems like over elaboration of a single or few person group. There hasn't been a single major mention of these groups in Bangladeshi news papers over the last decade or so. I saw some other edits from the same IP, to Demographics of Bangladesh, which purported that the number of minorities dropped from 16% in 1998 to 10% now, due to "genocide"!!!! Which implies 9 million out of 150 million Bangladeshis have left for India during that time!!!!!! This is sheer propaganda, and I reverted his edits. I don't think this is a random edit, and I'll keep an eye on the articles. As for the revolution, it never was there, and never gained even a small whiff of steam. Thanks. --Ragib 22:41, 22 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

reverting edit

hey, i have a quick question: how do you revert changes by trolls? is there any easy way to do it?

Well, you can open the history page, and find a version before the trolls vandalized it, then open that version, click edit, and then save (You may get a message like "You are editing an out of date version of the paper". Anyway, remember to have an edit summary stating that you have reverted it. Also, except for dealing with clear vandalism, do not revert a page more than 3 times in any 24 hour period, more than 3 reverts are not allowed under the 3 revert rule. Finally, if you face a vandal, you can contact me or any other admin who can ban the vandal. Thanks. --Ragib 02:30, 24 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

You signed my welcome message, and I have in fact just emerged from a 2-day block for 3RR when I was fighting an organised campaign by several users to make a deletion stick that was vandalism because,as the talk page shows, they were arguing entirely from personal hate to justify it and wouldn't negotiate a commmon edit, they were determined to completely suppress all mention of the issue. Under an admin's outside scrutiny they have had to crack in that stance during the block period. Talk: Asperger's Syndrome From this experience I seek to propose to the whole of Wikipedia, from the top to every user, that its ethicality needs to be protected by modifying the 3RR rule. The way it works at present is not always impartial, it can be exploited to vandals' advantage if a page comes under a hate attack from a mob who outnumber the defence or target one person.

I don't mind the block being used to see if it cools the situation. Non-aggressive users have been helped vy feeling they had a period of protected calm to reassess, and I actually don'tcontest my block ifit had been applied also to every edit war opponent I had during the preceding day. But - if 1 person gets a block and organised personally antagonistic opponents who had made the first move don't get a block, because no single one of them has committed 3RR, then bullies are rewarded and their attack on the page gets protected and encouraged. My edits were not even simple reversions but new adaptations trying to be consensual with others,as I kept asking the opposaition to do too. But because I did not lie down and accept them attacking the page every few minutes by organised force of numbers targetted personally, without any one of them breaking 3RR, it was me who ended up with a block when in this circumstance 3RR should not have applied on grounds of vandsalism. You see how the balance of power was unbalanced?

How then is Wikipedia to guard against having neutrality destroyed by the 3RR rule working in favour of bullying campaigns and organised frequent attacks on pages? Simply enact this:

(i) the 3RR rule also to apply when different people make the same revert, exactly the same as when 1 person does. (ii) When a 2-sided high-frequency edit war is happening, if a 3RR block is made it must be made simultaneously on every person on both sides who took part during the preceding day. Admins with discretion whether to apply a 3RR block or not, shall not have discretion to apply one to only 1 side of such a dispute. (iii) Except as part of a 2-sided parity, a reverter who does new adaptations not simple reverts to past content can't be given a 3RR, unless: there is a discussion in progress that is about content not personal attacks, and is about factuality not an insistence to simply delete an item on grounds of not thinking it important.

Without these rule changes, Wikipedia can be dragged into giving non-neutral positions with content censored by attackers' agendas, on serious issues of how children are treated. On the basis of this case that has just happened, I contend that Wikipedia visibly owes to its members to make this rule change. tern 02:56, 25 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

The pakrev spam edit

It seems an anon keeps ading the site [3] in all the military articles related to Pakistan like Pakistan Army, Pakistan Navy etc. I've tried to explain in my edits and removed more than a couple of times. The problem is he keeps coming back for more and adds that site which i think he's trying to promote. to top it, the site is nothing more than a carbon copy of wikipedia's article on the same subject!! Is there any way of blocking the entry of the words pakrev.com ? because that would instantaneously solve the problem permanently. if not, what are the alternatives? please look into the history of all the branches of pakistan military, army, navy and airforce to understand what i mean. he seems quite determined to keep linking to "his" articles which is nothing but a case of violation. Idleguy 04:21, August 26, 2005 (UTC)

Just to make it clear, just open Pakistan Air Force and click on the pakrev external link that is a cut and paste from wikipedia's own article which he passes as his own. Idleguy 04:23, August 26, 2005 (UTC)

I looked into the site, and indeed this is a wikipedia mirror for Pak Military articles. I don't think we can block the entry of the link. The best we can do is to remove the link whenever inserted. If the vandal comes again, and violates 3RR, s/he can be blocked. --Ragib 15:21, 26 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Vandalism! edit

Where do I go to report?

Currently, User:Sjakkalle has been vandalised. Looks like the same person who vandalised Template:Jews and Judaism sidebar so that it's currently protected.

— <TALKJNDRLINETALK>

Report the vandalism with evidence presented in terms of diffs, to Wikipedia:Vandalism in progress. I'll also take a look into it. --Ragib 17:12, 26 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Vandalism ? edit

Hi, not sure if this is related or not, but I just was browsing the net, got redirected to a wiki link, and noticed somthing I don't normally see: "You have a new message". Boy was I excited, considering I haven't even registered a wiki account yet (though I'm a big fan).

I must say, I was quite heartbroken when I saw that the message was from you warning me not to spam wiki pages (from User_talk:69.19.14.30). Just thought I'd let you know that this IP is shared by probably thousands of direcway.com users as a default web acceleration proxy. Please don't block from reading at least, if you must block from writing at least let authenticated wiki users post from this IP address. I'll copy the User_talk page with this too just so I'm sure you'll see it. Thanks for understanding!

Possible Copyvio edit

Hi,

am writing to you as you are an admin. I'm still finding my way on Wikipedia and hence seek your help on this.

The page Maneka Gandhi created by rohitde (in its very first edit-Dec.2004) has verbatim comments from http://www.indian-elections.com/keycontenders/maneka-gandhi.html (accessed on http://66.102.7.104/search?q=cache:-EeFAVscof8J:www.indian-elections.com/keycontenders/maneka-gandhi.html+Maneka+Gandhi+model&hl=en). While there have been many edits and expansions after that, the verbatim comments remain. I've posted a msg on his talk page, but there is no response. Or is it possible that the above website copied frm the very first edit in wikipedia? I've visited WP:CP but am at a loss as to what to do since this is an existing page and no revert can solve the problem, hence this msg.---Gurubrahma 07:25, 27 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

It is User:Rohitde, sorry for that.Gurubrahma 07:31, 27 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

As you may know, there are two situations when you find a copyvio: 1. If it is a new page, blank all copyvio content and put a copyvio tag into the page. 2. If it is an existing page, and has other non-copyvio content, remove the copyvio portion. Since the situation you described fits the 2nd rule, you should remove the comments from the page in question. Also, you can reword the copyvio text. Let me know if you need any more information. Thanks a lot for contacting me. --Ragib 16:29, 27 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Congrats! edit

Hey Ragib, congrats on making admin! I'm glad someone from the BD portal has got the honour. I havent been able to do much on WP recently (work and academic pressure) but I hope to make a gradual return in a couple of months. In the meantime, I just wanted to mention something very minor - the Dr Muzaffar Ahmed stub was started by myself, although it's listed in your starts. I'm sure it's an inadvertent error - so not a big deal :-) Anyway, congrats again, and keep up the nice work! --Peripatetic 19:44, 27 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your compliments. When you have time, you can help with Constitution of Bangladesh or the 64 district level articles. As for Dr. Muzaffar Ahmed, sorry for the confusion, I'm removing it. Thanks. --Ragib 19:57, 27 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Fulcherry edit

Would you be having more knowledge on this place? I'd created Teesta River earlier this year, and apparently the river meets the Bram'tra at this place. =Nichalp «Talk»= 15:21, August 31, 2005 (UTC)

Hmmm, I don't know anything about the place, I'm not sure I heard the name before. However, I checked into Banglapedia, and there is [an article http://banglapedia.search.com.bd/HT/T_0179.htm] on it which you may find useful. One small correction, Teesta river falls into Jamuna River which is the main branch of Brahmaputra River in Bangladesh (Since the earthquake of the 18th/19th century). In BD, the Brahmaputra river is called the Old Brahmaputra river, and is not really as large as Jamuna. I read that article on Banglapedia, and it mentions that Teesta meets Jamuna near Chilmari in Rangpur District. Anyway, I'll look into other source. Thanks. --Ragib 04:06, 1 September 2005 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the info. =Nichalp «Talk»= 07:21, September 1, 2005 (UTC)

National Awami Party

Firstly, belated felicitations on becoming an admin! You definitely do deserve it. On a different note, the article above caught my attention. The National Awami Party also exists in Bangladesh and as if that were not enough, there are multiple branches of the party too. However, the article as is uses a template for Pakistani politics. It could be argued that without any other addition like National Awami Party (Pakistan), the article National Awami Party should refer to the party that continues to reside in Dhaka. Is there a need for a disambiguation page? Well, it's a stub, I know, but I am getting a little interested in adding articles about the centre-leftist politics in Bangladesh.

Thanks,

Bangla font edit

For quite some months now, I see the Bengali characters really tiny as compared to Devnagiri. Do you have the same problem? =Nichalp «Talk»= 11:39, September 1, 2005 (UTC)

Bangladesh images edit

I got you some free Bangladesh images: [4]. Enjoy! Upload in commons, credit the source. =Nichalp «Talk»= 13:22, September 2, 2005 (UTC)

A request to u edit

Due to the continous vandlism of User:Truth aspirant-- the article Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman has become a ‘business-propaganda-feature’ rather an ‘encyclopedic article.’ Just see history of the article [[Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman and Talk:Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman page--You are requested to take intrest in this serious editorial issue and make things straight in this global phenomena (Wikipedia). More inputs needed on Suhrawardy Udyan edit

I just wanted to inform you that I'd created a new article on Suhrawardy Udyan aka Racecourse as you might know in Bangladesh. It is quite a historical place so I decided that it was time to have its own article. I hope you can contribute whatever you might know on this place to expand it further. Also I'm submitting this for Did You Know section. Tx Idleguy 08:33, September 3, 2005 (UTC)

Reply edit

User Talk: Felix Frederick Bruyns I have twice been told to make those curved lines on my posts, but I have no idea how to do it, since my keyboard doesn't have anything of the sort. Do you know of a solution? Thank you very much.

A Missing Message (and Thank You) edit

I sent a message a while back to thank you for pointing out that key. It was stupid of me not to notice it. My message mysteriously disappeared though, so I don't know if you got it. Felix Frederick Bruyns 03:19, 5 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Nazia's page edit

Raqib why did you removed the edits at Nazia Hasan ?
the unknown user had added this link there *Nazia Hassan Songs الثاقب (WiseSabre| talk) 17:45, 6 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Have you visited the link? The same link spammer tries to add links to this website. On visiting the link, you'd find a plethora of adverstisements. After a bit of scrolling, you might find some links to songs, but alas!! those links yield even more advertisement. Wikipedia should not be abused to promote a site full of ads. I am sure there are better websites with Nazia's songs, but this is not one such site. I hope you got my point. Thanks. --Ragib 17:55, 6 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Thanks edit

Hi Ragib:
Thanks for support and your confidence in me in my recent RFB nomination. I'm now WP's newest bureaucrat. :) Regards, =Nichalp «Talk»= 19:57, September 6, 2005 (UTC)

What Can I Do? edit

Hi. I'm just bringing this up with you since you're the only administrator I 'know'. (You welcomed me Wikipedia! Lol!

I have recently created a page on the comic series The New Avengers, and it has been put to a vote to merge into the page for The Avengers comic series.

Some people have a personal dislike to the page, and I think that since they have been around so long, and been building the Avengers page, they are unwilling to see it end, despite the fact that the comic itself has ended and is under a new title.

All of the facts that have been presented are in favour of keeping the two pages seperate, but these people who have been around for some time together are all voting together and using that to bully newcomers - even accusing one new member who voted against the merge of being me! There is a general concensus on Wikipedia to have individual pages for individual comic series' (The Spider-Man comic series' all have their own individual pages).

I know my New Avengers page is limited at the moment, and I am not the only member to have contributed to it - but I thought the point of Wikipedia was to expand. I don't want to see my work deleted. Is there anything I can do to stop my work from unjustly becoming just a footnote on another page?
