Centennial, California edit

When you edit the above article, I'm sure we would all appreciate your awareness that just about everything in it is merely a proposal and may not even be approved by the Regional Planning Commission. To remind all editors, I have added a WP:Crystal tag, which really should be retained until the faults in the article (as suggested in the WP:Crystal advice page) have been corrected. Sincerely yours, and with a great deal of thanks for working on this article, I am, GeorgeLouis (talk) 22:41, 22 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

The cleanup of the above article is more or less complete now. Kindly take a look and see if any errors have been introduced (and also if you have any inline references you could add). Thanks so much for your valuable addition to Wikipedia. As one who lives in the Mountain Communities, I appreciate your work. Sincerely, GeorgeLouis (talk) 18:30, 23 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
Hello, Quentin. Just wanted to thank you for your hard work on Wikipedia. When I first started creating articles I got quite dismayed when people put tags on them saying they needed this or that or the other. I thought the tags were all addressed to me and that I was being attacked from all sides! But then I discovered that there are groups of editors specialising in tackling certain issues, and they go round looking at the tagged articles and doing the necessary. It's all part of collaborative authoring, and isn't meant to be a criticism of you. So please don't get discouraged when people change things, suggest things, and put tags on articles. I actually think you did a great job getting the Centennial, California article off to a really good start. Good to have you on board. -- Cheers, Hebrides (talk) 20:07, 23 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Centennial, California edit

{{editsemiprotected}} please for me anybody my Centennial, California wikkipedia and only give me acesss to it edit becuase the person who always edit my page messs it up and take way important information.

quentin

If I understand your comments here and [1] correctly, you wish the page Centennial, California to be restricted to you, so that only you can edit? If so, please see WP:OWN. As mentioned there, you do not own articles, and cannot ask for them to restricted to you. If you don't agree with what other people are doing, you should discuss this with them, and attempt to come to some sort of WP:consensus, asking for a WP:third opinion or whatever if you cannot do so. However if you are unable to accept collaborative editing, then I'm sorry to say but it is unlikely wikipedia is suitable for you. Cheers and I do hope you stay and learn to collaborate constructively Nil Einne (talk) 06:27, 2 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
Hello again, Quentin. I'm trying to work out what this means ("please for me anybody my Centennial..."). I'm guessing, but I think it might be something to do with other editors changing things while you are working on them.
A good solution to that problem is to work in your own "sandbox" (a private work area where you can develop articles and try things out) – you can easily create one – and this then provides a bit of private space. You can copy the article into your sandbox, then work on it over a period of days or weeks. When it's ready, you can copy it (just copy the text from the sandbox edit window) and paste it into the main Wikipedia article.
To create a sandbox for yourself, just go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Quentinwllcs/sandbox and since the page doesn't exist it will invite you to create it (just click on "Start the User:Quentinwllcs/sandbox page"). I use this technique a lot.
The other thing to mention is the note at the bottom of your screen whenever you are editing something. It says, "Please note: If you don't want your writing to be edited mercilessly or redistributed for profit by others, do not submit it." When I create an article, I know that everybody else is perfectly entitled to do what they like to it (within the Wikipedia guidelines of course). It's not "my" article! As soon as I click "Save page" I'm putting it there for the whole world to edit it as they see fit. It's a different mindset from creating your own website, and takes a bit of getting used to.
Regarding the Centennial, California article, I think it's now a good size and doesn't need to get much bigger. If you look in any encyclopedia you will find its articles give you a structured overview with all the salient points, and then give external links so that the reader can find out further details. It's already well on the way to being a good article – clear structure, concise and precise factual information without repetition, and good quality third-party references – those are the things to concentrate on and improve if you can – and other editors will be doing that too.
Thanks again for your work. Cheers, Hebrides (talk) 06:47, 2 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
I un-transcluded the template so that it won't show up on Category:Wikipedia semi-protected edit requests and make people think assistance is needed here. Good luck with your work. Celestra (talk) 16:39, 2 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

alright thanks will do i will create a sandbox quentin

I noticed your edits to Centennial, California, and replaced them with an {{inuse}} tag which just alerts people when you're actively editing the article and don't want edit conflicts. Please remove it when you're not editing the article so that we know you're not in the middle of editing…

Hebrides thanks will do but i try remove the {{inuse}} tag wouldnt allow me and i just tried adding something and wouldnt allow me to can remove it i dont need it quentin

Be sure all additions are Sourced edit

If anybody adds to this article, be sure the additions fit in with WP's policy on WP:Reliable Sources. The promises and predictions of the developers may not be the best Sources, but they can be used (with proper credit) if no better ones can be found. Sincerely, GeorgeLouis (talk) 04:34, 28 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
