Lol, I thought you might know. Hm.. this is just a wild guess, but could it have something to do with the GIF format? Let me download the full image, convert it and upload it to the commons. If it doesn't work, I can delete it anytime. -- But first: Looking for copyright info, I noticed you claim to be the copyright holder. At the bottom of the image it says "U.S. DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE Economics and Statistics Administration U.S. Census Bureau" and "Prepared by the Geography Division (January 2005)". —AldeBaer (c) 16:45, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
Ok. I just tried to convert the source Image:U.S. Counties.gif to PNG (Image:U.S. Counties.png), but it doesn't seem to work. I then tried converting from indexed colors to RGB, but it leads to a file of about 9 megabyte, and commons prefers file sizes up to some 4.7 megs. —AldeBaer (c) 12:50, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

11-July-2007: The ID "User:Lanternix" (notified) was logged as overwriting an unsourced map image onto a map of Egypt developed by the American CIA, on 19-May-2007 at 1:09 a.m, which has been restored (after 52 days). As you are listed as a member of Wikiproject:AncientEgypt, I'd like to recruit your help in reviewing the article Ancient Egypt. The article is listed as top priority in the Wikiproject and as a vital article by the Version 1.0 Editorial Team, but appears to have failed to meet Good Article criteria at its last nomination. The article is in need of some serious attention.
In the past week, I asked for (and got) the article to be semi-protected to protect against the constant barrage of vandalism. This protection lasts for two weeks. I also did a little clean-up, added a map and so on. I would like to see everyone in Wikiproject:AncientEgypt have the chance to add their input to Ancient Egypt, and get the article up to featured status as soon as possible. I believe the article is at least 80% of the way there, and some focused attention will bring it the rest of the way.
The most pressing concerns seem to be the culture/architecture section, and the achievements/unsolved problems sections. Also, the entire article, especially the achievements section, the sources, and external links need to be seriously checked for accuracy. These sections also require a little organization too.
Ancient Egypt ought to be the top priority of Wikiproject:AncientEgypt, and I look forward to working with everyone to get this article cleaned up and hopefully promoted to featured status. Thanks for your help, Jeff Dahl 03:34, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

Nicktropolis (also known as NT, Nicktrop or Ntrop) is a game on Nick.com where users with a NickName (username) and password may safely chat to their friends by using either pre-written messages or the Nick Safe Chat dictionary, which blocks out offensive language. Users can also chat with chatterbots posing as Nicktoons such as SpongeBob, Danny Phantom, and Jimmy Neutron. Users may buy items in Nicktropolis "stores" with NickPoints, which is the Nicktropolis currency.

The Assessment Department is new. Please help to assess via quality and importance Saskatchewan articles by using the parent Canada wikiproject template{{WikiProject Canada |class= |importance= | sk=yes }} along with the Assessment guidelines.

What's New?:Portal:Saskatchewan has a new section! This new section gives access to complete instructions on adding articles and images directly into the portal - step by step. The Saskatchewan Portal was created via instructions in creating a boxportal. Clicking the edit button on the main Saskatchewan Portal page does not help at all to add to the various sections as is usually the case with creation of wikipedia articles. The instruction page give immediate access to the transcluded pages which need to be accessed to change additions to the Saskatchewan Portal!

A pilot project has also started in the creation of the to do listing. This project helps to narrow down the scope of Wikipedia's tags which relate to existing Saskatchewan articles.

The will help to identify articles which should be noted on the "Did you know?" talk page. Those articles selected should be added to Portal SK Did you know creation page. Just click on a red link, and add the DYK question. This will make the new DYK article randomly appear on the main portal page.

Thank you for making a report on Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Reporting and removing vandalism is vital to the functioning of Wikipedia and all users are encouraged to revert, warn, and report vandalism. However, administrators are generally only able to block users if they have received a recent final warning (one that mentions that the user may be blocked) and they have recently vandalized after that warning was given. The reported user has not yet been blocked because it appears this has not occurred yet. If this user continues to vandalize even after their final warning, please report them to the AIV noticeboard again. Thank you! GlassCobra 22:25, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

Develop quality articles. Increase the amount of good and Featured articles about Saskatchewan related content.
Develop top importance articles about Saskatchewan such as those about crown corporations. the provincial government and its several departments. From the Saskatchewan wiki meeting held back on 23 June 2007 it was discussed to develop an article on Health in Saskatchewan, and to improve to feature status articles: Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Regina.
The University of Saskatchewan became a good article to celebrate the 2007 anniversary of campus, and should now have a peer reveiw to continue on to becoming a feature article. The List of University of Saskatchewan alumni was developed to assist this article and help would be appreciated providing citations for each entry, and to help add to the list.

Create a Saskatchewan Roads and Highways outreach template to help new members become informed about the presence of this project online.
Highway Picture Template
Just as there is only one image needed for upload for Saskatchewan locator maps, and then various towns can be updated upon this image. So, too there should be a highway picture template, so that the various numbered highways 1, 33, 34, 58, 913, 914, etc can all have their own image without needing to create a bizzilion numbered images online.
2004 Election
Our 2004 Saskatchewan election has resulted in an amazing number of politician biographies coming online! This was an awesome achievement, and something to be proud of!
Qyd (talk·contribs) and Arctic.gnome (talk·contribs) are editors of a wide variety of Canadian related articles, and of note as of this date is the enormous amount of work they have undertaken to help amalgamate all the various provincial wikiprojects and Canadian sub projects into one umbrella assessment department. This unique assessment department means that Saskatchewan related articles can be assessed for their own provincial merit, and also belong to the Canadian wikiproject as well. It also means that editors from both Canada wikiproject and Saskatchewan wikiproject can unite in their efforts to provide banners and ratings to articles. This will result in a huge improvement in quality on wikipedia, resulting in Saskatchewan's spotlight award for Qyd (talk·contribs). Saskatchewan Roads and Highways
Saskatchewan Roads and Highways
The WikiProject Canada Roads is undergoing an overhaul. It is aiming to produce some Good articles and Featured articles of highway content pertaining to Canada, and for the Saskatchewan Roads and Highways for Saskatchewan highways. As Saskatchewan is still a work in progress this is a challenging endeavour for as the guidelines are followed as laid out at either Highway wikiproject, they become red link farms because wikilinked articles have not been developed regarding the communities, provincial and regional parks and rural municipalities which the highways meander through. Please keep apprised of the progress, and if any Saskatchewan articles rise above stub we will list it on the main page.
There is also discussion started about assessment and navigation boxes on the talk page. Please peek in to add any comments you may have.
Recently articles Saskatchewan Highway 1, 33, 34, 58, 913, 914 have been improved, but they need more help so they can become articles nominated as Good articles. Please help out if you are able, even to create community and rural municipality articles for these Highway articles would be an enormous help.
The List of ghost towns in British Columbia has given a base to create a new article named Ghost towns in Saskatchewan. Please help to contribute, as Saskatchewan has about 1/5 the number of towns that it had in its heyday between the boom years of the 1920's and the industrial revolution of the 1940's.

This is the monthly newsletter of WikiProject Tropical Cyclones. The Hurricane Herald aims to give a summary, both of the activities of the WikiProject and global tropical cyclone activity. If you wish to change how you receive this newsletter, or no longer wish to receive it, please add your username to the appropriate section on the mailing list. This newsletter covers all of January 2008.

Storm of the month
Cyclone Gene formed on January 26 over the open south Pacific Ocean. It drifted southward, and strengthened into Tropical Storm Gene on January 28 as it moved across the Fijian archipelago. There, it brought heavy rainfall, which caused the worst flooding in several years. Half of the country was left without power, and the cyclone killed seven people in Fiji. The storm turned southwestward, developing a cloud-filled eye and quickly strengthening by the end of the month.
In addition to Cyclone Gene, Tropical Storm Elisa and Cyclone Fuma occurred in the South Pacific ocean during the month, along with three tropical depressions.
Four tropical cyclones, three of which named, existed in the Southwest Indian Ocean during the month. The most notable was Cyclone Fame, which caused twelve deaths after striking Madagascar.
Member of the month

The January member of the month is Ajm81. A tropical cyclone editor since he first joined in October 2005, Ajm81 plays a vital role in the project. Unlike other editors, who mainly edit articles, Ajm81 maintains and updates the track maps across the project. We thank Ajm81 for his timely contributions, and may he have some well-deserved downtime after the last tropical cyclone report is released.
Wikiwork and 1000 articles
In January 2008, the WikiProject began using a system called Wikiwork, or ω. It weighs the overall quality of the project's articles, and a lower number means a greater total quality. The weighed ω, as used above, is a relative number that can be used to compare groups of this article. As of this publication, the relative ω of the project is 3.404, corresponding to between Start and B class. However, when limiting it solely to storm articles, the number drops to 2.98, which is slightly better than B class. During the month, a new statistics page was created.

I see even though you an American citizen that you have taken an interest in stuff outside of the United States and I would like to welcome you to WikiProject Saskatchewan. This project focuses on the cities, towns, villages, rural municipalities, and Indian reserves that would otherwise get the chance to be started as an article on Wikipedia. Article Improvement Drive
Article Improvement Drive: Articles can now be assessed, and this is the showing for top rated GA and FA class articles as well as stub articles. Please help rate articles, and contribute to improved status.
There are currently about no Saskatchewan articles at WP:GAN waiting to be reviewed. :-( If you have not considerably edited one of the articles, you can perform a review by following these instructions.
There are currently no Saskatchewan related articles waiting to be assesed for feature article... :-( FACs.
Please help B class articles move into GA class and GA class articles move toward Feature status.
Add content to stub articles to improve their status.
In December there were over 797 articles which needed template changes from the original Saskatchewan talk page banner to the new Canada - provincial talk page banner. This has been completed!!!
Wikiproject Saskatchewan now has 0.5% FA articles 0.22% GA articles, about 5% B class articles, about 35% Start class articles and 68% stub class articles.
Saskatchewan related articles contribute 1,799 / 19,566 articles, or 9.19 % of Canadian related articles!!!

Canadian Federal Government articles which relate to Saskatchewan are the following 14 articles, a couple of which are rated FA.
The most tagged articles are Saskatchewan communities. Saskatchewan Communities & Neighbourhoods comprise 551 articles - tagged with both the Saskatchewan communities and neighbourhoods template, as well as the new Canadian - provinces template.
The Portal Saskatchewan peer review has produced some excellent suggestions, many of which have been enacted. Some of the portal categories should be added to Saskatchewan wikiproject such as the instructions on how to add content to a box portal concept.
To go forward to apply for PORTAL feature status, 10 articles, 10 biogrphies, 10 images which are qualified as good or feature should be added to the portal in the various areas.
Shanemcd (talk·contribs) has contributed to the organization of which placenames are town, villages, hamlets, etc by going above and beyond the call of duty. Sorting out List of communities in Saskatchewan and the various section lists have shown significant improvements. Consistency and attention to detail on the various incorporation dates, and status of the many and several communities is producing more accurate lists for visitors to wikipedia viewing Saskatchewan articles. This provides an improvement in quality on wikipedia and so a large thank you goes out to Shanemcd at this time.

May Day, May 1, marks the end of the uncomfortable winter half of the year in the Northern hemisphere. To celebrate May Day in Saskatchewan expand Geography of Saskatchewan climate section with photos or articles of spring weather. Expand or create some festival articles to fill out the Saskatchewan festival template.
What's New?:
The new articles are now being identified by a robot, and new members are being invited. At Wikipedia:WikiProject Saskatchewan/New articles please check out our new Saskatchewan related articles - of which there are an assorted variety numbering close to 50 new items since the last news letter! Wikipedia:WikiProject Saskatchewan/New articles about curling, crown corporations, Government ministries, aviation pioneers, and communities are a small sampling of the newest arrivals about Saskatchewan!
Assessment of articles has shown improvements since the last update in the March newsletter. At that time there were 1,799 assessed articles, compared to 2,138 today; a 119% increase. Feature articles and lists were at 5, and have climbed to 8 articles. 4 GA class articles for Saskatchewan have increased to 6 at GA. 39 B class articles have increased to 89 at B Class, a 228% increase. Start class are currently at 505, Stub at 1,503, and List class at 27. There are currently 2 articles which rate top importance, 40 at high, 652 at mid, and 1,444 articles rated as low importance.
Canadian Projects which overlap with Saskatchewan articles have been listed. The Canadian projects are:Music, Television, Geography, Governments of Canada, Education, Electoral Districts, Politics, Law, Roads, Communities, Military History, Sport and CFL. There are now more than 31 sports articles with both Saskatchewan and the sports project tagged. The Saskatchewan communities have both the Saskatchewan and community tag upon several articles. Wyldkat (talk·contribs) has contributed several articles about the province of Saskatchewan amongst these have been Politics of Saskatchewan, Fort Carlton, Fort Carlton, and Malcolm Norris to name a few. As well, Wyldkat keeps an eye on existing articles, categories and listings and brings them into line with many of Wikipedia's policies and Manual of Style proceedings. Presently Wyldkat has been maintaining talk page banners and initiates the rating system. For the past few years Wyldkat has provided coherency and standardization for Saskatchewan related articles.

WikiProject Christianity Coordinators : The project coordinators are generally responsible for maintaining all of the procedural and administrative aspects of the project, and serve as the designated points-of-contact for procedural issues. They are not, however, endowed with any special executive powers, nor with any authority over article content or editor conduct.The Lead Coordinator bears overall responsibility for coordinating the project; the Assistant Coordinators aid the Lead Coordinator and focus on specific areas that require special attention.

Canadian Rivers Day occurs on the second Sunday of June, this year, June 8, 2008. Please help commemorate this special day by expanding existing SK river articles or creating Sk river articles which do not yet exist!
In 2008, the solstice occurs and summer begins in the Northern Hemisphere on June 20 at 7:59 p.m. EDT or 6:59 p.m. CST. Welcome to the Sixth issue of the WikiProject Christianity newsletter! Use this newsletter as a mechanism to inform yourselves about progress at the project and please be inspired to take more active roles in what we do.
Luckily, you all won't have to see my comments very often, as very little I have to say is really that important. But I would like to take the opportunity to say that I hope everyone finds the new General Forum page useful for discussing ideas relevant to Christianity in general, and feels free to make any additional comments regarding general Christianity there. Also, if any of you feel that you want to place a comment here in the future, please let us know what you want included. As many of you will know, we currently have several articles relating to the same basic topics. The articles in the Category:Baptism are one example of such. It is really in the interests of all of us to try to place as much content in the main article of such topics, and then have the other articles "branch off" from there and making the central article as good an article as possible. We also now have a proposal for a new general "Christianity" related award, similar to the Military history project's chevrons, at Wikipedia:WikiProject Christianity/General Forum. OK, I have created a script to make the moves easier. You just click a link and the move is completed automatically, with the move summary and all.
I can't do the 397 moves myself, so I am just requesting a little help.
The way this works is that I have this page, here that lists all of the pages, and links to the auto-move page. Then, the auto-move script automatically fills in everything and clicks the button. But, that takes browser and server resources, so I am asking if you can help balance the load.
All you need to do is go to your monobook.js and enter:
importScript('User:GeorgeMoney/TEMP/Rpotd.js');. Then, when you click the "Move" link on the page linked to above, it will automatically complete the move. Also, remember you must clear your browser's cache "Shift + Reload" or "Ctrl + Reload".
For now, I will take the first 50, so you can leave those. I will come back later to do more, so if you do want to help out, then please tell me which ones you plan on doing in your first run so we can coordinate the moves.
You don't have to do this, it would just be nice to be able to balance out the nearly 400 moves.
P.S. When you are done with the script, REMOVE IT FROM YOUR MONOBOOK. It is a MAJOR security risk (because anyone with an external link could force you to move a page.)

WikiProject Saskatchewan Communities & Neighbourhoods has undergone a new facelift and revamping just in time to putter away at new civic articles on the August civic holiday, the first Monday of August. Drop by and see the new colour scheme which corresponds the the provincial colours. The assessment department provides quality ratings to articles via the talk page. At the current moment the assessment department combines the communities project with the province on the Canada talk page bannerr. There is a request out to make an assessment table from the parent talk page banner or if a new banner is advised. The challenge has been met! User:CBM figured out the coding necessary! A number of various editors and administrators puttered at applying the code, and it works!! Thank you very much.
C class assessment is the newest addition for articles which need more TLC before being assessed as B class such as citations or wiki clean up. The article is more useful than a start class article, but isn't quite as rounded as a B class article.
A class articles will need more than one reviewer for reaching A class article criteria.
Chcek out the List of basic Canada topics which brings to the forefront a grouping of material about Canada for the WWW surfer. The variouse lists of basic topics has recently been undergoing an overhaul.
Canadian related articles for deletion have been listed here to encourage article development and conversations at the AFD talk page. There is now discussion to identify such articles via robot similar to Australia's notice board, to enable a better canvassing of deletion tags on articles. Should there also be discussion started for a robot notification of Saskatchewan articles for deletion? A new proposal by Wolterding encompassing Article alerts would identify tagged as well as promoted articles to give a rolling new view of articles moving forwards as well as articles in need of TLC.

Mitchazenia (talk·contribs) This months spotlight award to goes to Mitchazenia. Even though he might not be heavily involved all things Saskatchewan, one area he is greatly involved in is roads and highways. Not only that he started the Saskatchewan Roads and Highways WikiProject. His other edits don't go un-notice. So much so that he was even awarded the WP: Sask Barnstar for his contributions to highway and road articles of Saskatchewan.

Labour Day & Saskatchewan's Anniversary Article Drive
Labour Day is Monday September 1, and Saskatchewan celebrates its 103 anniversary of joining confederation on September 4, 1905. Goal would be to improve the Saskatchewan article to feature status. Please leave a note on the tip line, if you are able over the next month to make improvements to the provincial article.

Welcome to the seventh issue of the Birds WikiProject newsletter. Ties to our project are growing: Avibase, one of the internet's largest generators of database-driven country checklists, now directs its users to Wikipedia's pages for more information on individual species.
Bird of prey, this month's collaboration article, is an overview of the many species of diurnal and nocturnal raptors. Please help us boost the quality and content of this important article—which is currently a mere start!
In a related note, be sure to vote for November's collaboration, which will be chosen on 21 October. As always, we could use a few new nominations...
Project news
A listing of bird-related articles destined for the next Wikipedia DVD is available here.[2] Unfortunately, a few of the identifed articles are currently stubs (Apodiformes, Columbiformes and Cuculiformes), and others have banners indicating various problems. We should try to get as many as possible updated and upgraded before the October 20 cutoff—the date by which we need to identify "safe" versions for inclusion.
The bot that runs the project's cleanup list has unfortunately developed some problems since its last run (in August), but there are still plenty of corrections to make on the existing list!
We're still on course to reach our (informal) target of 100 good / featured articles or lists by the end of the year, with only 12 more to go. Antbird is currently at FAC (where reviews would be helpful). Do you have an article nearing completion that needs some copyediting, reference searches or writing assistance? Let the project know!
Bird news
A new species of white-eye is described in October's issue of Ibis. The bird, dubbed Vanikoro White-eye (Zosterops gibbsi) by its describers, is endemic to the Vanikolo Islands, which are part of the Solomon Islands. The Wikipedia editor who creates a new article on this species (containing at least some basic information) will be named in next month's newsletter. Individual categories for each rural municipality are being created. It would be good to gather consensus as to which articles should be tagged with an individual RM category. The places names which an RM provides rural government for should be within the individual category for the RM. However, should these areas also be added into the individual RM category: political divisions, points of interest, notable people from the RM, towns with their own urban governments which host the RM office? Add your comments.

A list of possible candidates—articles already containing significant amounts of information, which only need a bit more work to nudge them into contention—can be found here, if you'd like to help.
This month's collaboration article is Penguin—an iconic and well-known family that is the project's third most popular "read" (after Bird and Chicken). With more than 80,000 readers a month, this article deserves to be one of our first-class entries. Though it's in reasonable shape at the moment, it needs the expansion of a few key sections, and could use considerable referencing as well as some copyediting. Can you help?
In a related note, be sure to vote for December's collaboration, which will be chosen on 30 November. As always, we could use a few new nominations—Birdwatching is the only contender at the moment.
Project news
Over the last month, we've obtained many new photos from the photosharing website Flickr. Some photos on Flickr are already suitably licensed for use on Wikipedia. However, it's also possible to ask uploaders to change the license of those photo(s) which are unsuitably licensed (by far the majority), and a good proportion of them have been willing to release images when asked. This is particularly useful for articles that currently have no images. There are still thousands of bird articles needing photos and few people involved in this process. Contact Richard001 (talk·contribs) or Snowmanradio (talk·contribs) for more information about how you can help.
We have a newly-generated cleanup list to work on. According to its latest stats, we now have more than 13,750 articles in the project, with 760 (5.5%) tagged as needing corrections or improvements of some kind.
Newletter challenge
Maias (talk·contribs) took up last month's challenge, and started our article about the newly-described species Vanikoro White-eye. This month, we're looking for someone to create an article on the Northern Rockhopper Penguin, Eudyptes moseleyi, which has been split by many of the world's authorites; this will remove a redlink from our Penguin article as well. The editor who starts this article and gets it to at least a reasonable stub class will be mentioned in next month's newsletter.

Slight layout changes
We have made a few layout changes, some of which are temporary. You'll notice, compared to last month's issue, that there was an image in this column. It is now gone temporarily for the holiday (double) issue. Also, we have removed the box with the delivery notice to make it less flashy (and there were div issues, if you're techie).

According to the December 2007 newsletter, it is one year since Saskatchewan articles have had an assessment department which enable Saskatchewan articles to be rated for importance and quality. The Canadian banner was modified one year ago to help improve Saskatchewan content. Please help to assess via quality and importance Saskatchewan articles by using the parent Canada wikiproject template{{WikiProject Canada |class= |importance= | sk=yes }}
One year ago the new article department was also established. This new articles department introduces new wikipedia editors who are interested in Saskatchewan and also helps to monitor the expansion of Saskatchewan related articles. The new article department also alerts editors to fledgling articles which may receive tags for improvement.

There will be a Saskatchewan barnstar sent out to any editors who can provide a facelift to the Saskatchewan wikiproject over the next few weeks. There has been a large influx of material to the wikiproject since its inception, and now the material should be re-organised and re-distributed for ease of access.

Bearcat (talk·contribs) The February 2009 award is presented to Bearcat who has kept abreast of political party and people (PPAP) articles and their content. Bearcat not only improves and updates politically inclined articles but provides guidance and coaches others in their edits of political articles as well. Swing on over to the talk page of Bearcat and present them with a barnstar or two, along with a thank you or two for their contribtions to wikipedia as a veteran editor, and for keeping articles with dated content up to date.
Saskatchewan B Class articles and Importance ratings
An opportunity to Be bold and find out what is required to raise an aritlce past B class into GA or FA. Some information is included below about how to raise an article to B-class
For B-class articles the pre-requisites have been posted also at a few wikiprojects for the minimums required for B-class before advancing on to GA. Some wikiprojects offering B class outlines are Military History FAQ, Ships WP FAQ and WP UK roads The criteria for B-Class have been tightened up with the addition of a rubric, and are now more in line with the stricter standards already used at some projects.
The new C-Class represents articles that are beyond the basic Start-Class, but which need additional references or cleanup to meet the standards for B-Class.
A-Class article reviews will now need more than one person, as described here.

Thank you for making a report on Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Reporting and removing vandalism is vital to the functioning of Wikipedia and all users are encouraged to revert, warn, and report vandalism. However, administrators are generally only able to block users if they have received a recent final warning (one that mentions that the user may be blocked) and they have recently vandalized after that warning was given. The reported user has not yet been blocked because it appears this has not occurred yet. If this user continues to vandalize even after their final warning, please report them to the AIV noticeboard again. Thank you! GlassCobra 22:25, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
