The Belgariad

I noticed you redirected Pawn of Prophecy back to the Belgariad, it would be nice if you provided your reasoning on a talk page, I am planning on greatly expanding the plotlines of this series as I reread the books, so having seperate pages is going to be approprate. List of Mortal Kombat games and List of Pac-Man games

Rating articles

I saw that you attempted to rate the article Digital puppetry for us. However, WikiProject Machinima's worklist is controlled by the {{MachinimaWikiProject}} template that appears on talk pages; it takes class and importance parameters to categorize articles automatically. Mathbot comes along nightly and updates the master list, overwriting manual changes to that list. A lot of WikiProjects use this protocol as well, so just thought that you'd like to know so that you don't waste time having your edits undone by the bot. — TKD::Talk 03:17, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

Anchorhead marked as stub.

On the talk page you marked Anchorhead as being in the "Stub" state. I'm relatively new to this ranking system, but based on my reading, I think Anchorhead would solidly qualify as a "Start" page. It features multiple links to explain the topic as well as the "Plot" subheading which reasonably completely treats the plot summary. As I'm new to the rating system and not familiar with the guidelines in question, I'm hesitant to change it myself. While I'm mentioning it, based on the scale, I believe Anchorhead is of "Low" importance. It's an important game within Interactive Fiction, but otherwise not terribly influencial. Someone feeling generous might mark it as "Mid" on the grounds that within IF it's an important game; it's existance is relavent to the depth of knowledge within IF. (I'm not necessarily expecting a reply, but if you'd like, I'll see any replies on Talk:Anchorhead (game), or feel free to ping me on my own talk page.) Jean Charles de Menezes

Hello,

I am wondering if you would re-evaluate Jean Charles de Menezes for Good Article status, as you said you might. The {{POV}} tag and the "dispute" over neutrality were caused by a single editor (fairly new to Wikipedia, as well) who did not provide any sources for their claim and who has not returned to the article in over a week. In addition, the verifiability has been improved by locating cited sources for the section which was previously missing them. Thanks, KWH 03:22, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

By the way, thanks again for taking the time! KWH 06:15, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

Michelle Kwan GAC

Thank you for reviewing this so thoughtfully. Yeah, after I saw it'd been nominated for GA I started working on it like crazy, so there's a lot of recent edits. Also she has a lot of fans who like to insert fanspeak.. hence the back and forth (I hesitate to call it edit warring). Your points about the trivia and sources are well taken. I (or someone else working on this) will message you when it's ready for another look. Thank you again! --Fang Aili talk 13:25, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

CVG selected articles

I noticed you're marking some articles as being selected, when they haven't appeared on the portal — some aren't even featured! May I ask why? Pagrashtak 21:08, 23 September 2006 (UTC)

I was just marking all of the Featured , formarly featured, and GA articles as selected. It's because it appeared that all FA's and GA's that were old enough were marked, and I was just rolling them into the new templaty box. If there's some procedure to being "selected", please tell me- If it means being selected for the Portal, then that's the first I've heard of it, though it'd make more sense. --PresN 21:12, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
"Selected" across WikiProjects generally means selected to appear on the portal, and that's how we use the term, at least the last time I checked. If we wanted every single FA and GA to be selected, we would just write it into the template code instead of having a selected parameter. I can see the confusion, though; our guidelines seem a lot more confused than they used to be. With our list of featured articles, there used to be a section called "Selected articles" that listed articles that had appeared on the portal; it was only about four or so, since the portal had long periods of not being updated. There's some talk about setting up a procedured for selected articles, so hopefully we'll be able to define this better soon. Pagrashtak 21:17, 23 September 2006 (UTC)

Portal & Current events

Hi PresN, I was wondering what you thought of the Current events page & the portal. If you have an opinion on how I could improve them that would be much appreciated. Also, I could use a hand in keeping the current events page up to date. So if ever you see that an important event is missing from the page, please add it. You're already doing a great job maintaining the different CVG pages so please keep that up, but if you have some free time I'd appreciate it if you'd look at these pages from time to time. I've checked the updates at Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Computer and video game articles by quality statistics, and recently (at least) there is only minor changes in the totals. There is still 3500+ articles (plus articles not yet tagged with CVG project on talk page). Do you have time to help assess? I try to do as many as I can in each day, but I can't do this on my own. Thanks for re-adding Óengus I of the Picts to the good article list. I now think its removal may have something to do with being the last article in the good articles category. PresN, thank you so much for reviewing my article on ONj and for your very positive comments. It is most appreciated. The suggestion to propose the article for FAC is noted. As you wrote it is a complex subject. There could be a layperson article and a more detailed one or, as in this particular case, the intro is writtent more at a layperson level while the body of the article goes into the details that are also relevant. Any suggestion to bring the article to FAC level is appreciated :-) Dr. Imbeau 20:06, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

Blomby Car

Hi thanks for your prod alert. Do you agree with the prod? I've messaged the person who did that. Kind of halts my momentum with arcade games as I was on a roll there. Don't want to do any more unless I am sure I am not going to get proposed for deletion. Sandman30s 22:18, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

PS/ Why so little activity on WikiProject_Computer_and_video_games/New_article_announcements?

Please can you speak to BlueValour about the deletion. If I am now going to choose which Mame games are noteworthy or not - makes it very difficult to continue. Sandman30s 09:03, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

Hi, please point me to the policy that says that video games are inherently notable. In any case, Sandman needs to slow down a touch and source as he goes. It would be of much greater benefit to the project to have a smaller number of sourced, well filled out articles than to produce a trail of part-cooked ones that may never be finished off. BlueValour 02:59, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

Thanks PresN for the support :) BlueValour, point taken, will try and fill out my articles as I go along, but this is going to take me *way* longer per article, and I might never reach the end point (Z) out of boredom/frustration. As it is, it takes long enough to fill in the CVG templates, which I am doing pretty thoroughly I think. Another problem - in South Africa we have limited ADSL international bandwidth per month due to a ridiculous cap, and I can only do this at the start of each month, before we are capped down to local. Sandman30s 07:48, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
OK, we have a way forward. I won't Prod/AfD any and Sandman will source/fill out as he goes. Good luck! BlueValour 16:28, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

My monobook.js problem

Thank you for pointing that out. I was confused at first why it was adding me, then I figured out that in my monobook code, I had [[Category:Unassessed ...]] instead of [[:Category:Unassessed ...]], and since monobook pages don't contain categories at the bottom, I never noticed it before. It was also showing up at the category for unassessed novel articles. Again, thanks for pointing this out. -- moe.RON Let's talk | done 18:41, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

Stub class?

Hi! I notice you'd flagged several recent CVG articles as stubs, and was curious about the rationale. (The Halley Project is an example.) The assessment scale suggests it should be ranked higher, since the article contains an infobox with accurate data (including a PNG screenshot) and some clear (though concise) descriptions of the its premise, features, etc. Plus, being an Apple II game, its complexity's inherently limited, and doesn't necessarily warrant pages of verbose detail.
