False information in edit you reverted edit

You have replaced an edit with FALSE INFORMATION. (The edit about 'Ukrainians refusing to surrender having caused the destruction of Mariupol' IS NOT FOUND IN THE CITATION SOURCE ARTICLE WITH IT).

This is WP:Vandalism and you could be Blocked from Wikipedia if you persist.

PLEASE NOTE: In your revert comment, you seem to be focused on LINE 1 of what you reverted, but you ALSO THEREFORE REVERTED LINE 4.

On line 4-- there is a FALSE INFORMATION POST (text did not match-- in any way-- the content in the sourced article).

Please pay attention and carefully read everything that you revert.

You can reasonably revert LINE ONE (ONLY) and then discuss it on the Talk Page, if needed. However if you revert Line 4 (along with it) you will be persisting in vandalsm.

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing.

Chesapeake77 >>> Truth 14:54, 26 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Wtf are you on about? The edit I restored after it was deleted for no apparent reason says "due to prolonged fighting", not "due to Ukrainians refusing to surrender". Anyway you can remove it again if you want, don't really care about it. --Potionkin (talk) 19:55, 26 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Italian biographies edit

Thank you for your excellent Italian biographical articles. Could you tell me whether these are translations from the equivalent articles on the Italian Wikipedia? Best, Ingratis (talk) 22:56, 21 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello, yes, the biographies I usually translate from the Italian Wikipedia. --Potionkin (talk) 06:52, 22 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for letting me know. Good translations like yours are very welcome and I hope you'll continue with them. I should mention however that for copyright reasons any translations from other Wikis must be attributed as described here: WP:TFOLWP. The prescribed edit summary (for translations from Italian; for other languages change as required) is: Content in this edit is translated from the existing Italian Wikipedia article at [[:it:Exact name of Italian article]]; see its history for attribution.. Thanks and best wishes, Ingratis (talk) 08:27, 25 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

No, in that case (and a few others) I did not put the 'translated' template because as you can see by comparing it to the Italian version, which consisted of two lines, I basically wrote the page myself rather than translating it from the Italian wiki. --Potionkin (talk) 10:07, 21 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi thanks for creating this article. When we translate or borrow from other language wikis it’s a requirement to acknowledge the source. The best way to do this is to include it in your edit summary (e.g. “translated from it.wiki”) and there’s also a translation template you can add to the talk page. I’ve added it for you. Happy editing and please leave a message on my talk page if you need any help Mccapra (talk) 12:10, 23 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Deduplicating references edit

I saw your work on the article Melchiade Gabba. One thing that stood out to me was the number of references. If you use the same source multiple times, you only need to define the true reference once, and then you can reuse it as much as you'd like by naming it. This is even easier when using the Wikipedia:VisualEditor, which automatically handles the naming for you. You can also use Wikipedia:ReFill (at https://refill.toolforge.org/), which does a combined job of filling in information from websites and deduplicating references.

Finally, if you use information from a source multiple times in a paragraph, you only need to re-specify the reference at the end of a paragraph, or when you mention information that's not from the source. For example, if my first two sentences are from one reference, I will only include the reference at the end of the second sentence. RPI2026F1 (talk) 15:08, 13 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

November 2023 edit

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Alpine foothills. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Ways to improve Monticchio (mountain) edit

Hello, Potionkin,

Thank you for creating Monticchio (mountain).

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

The same citations are repeated in each paragraph. Instead, they should be named like [1] and reused as [1]

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Chaotic Enby}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Thanks for your contributions to Pizzo Proman. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because References is extremely poor. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. scope_creepTalk 07:59, 26 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Potionkin: Take a look at WP:REFB which is a small tutorial on how to do references properly. This is really badly formatted. scope_creepTalk 08:01, 26 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Potionkin: Ping me when its done and well get it back to mainspace. Google Gbooks is a good reference. You copy the url in the cite book dialog on the editor and it expands it out to a full reference. Very handy. scope_creepTalk 08:04, 26 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
