Hello, Perseus25. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Giles Auty edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Giles Auty requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://www.21pronto.com/giles_auty.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. @Sphilbrick, I posted text from the other website as a note to myself for further points to research. I did not realise I was breaking Wikipedia rules as the text was not published on Wikipedia but in a draft state only seen by myself (or so I believed). I understand now that I should not have done that. Unfortunately, by this draft having been deleted, I have lost all my other research, including my bibliography of books and articles. How can I recommence this draft -- with the text from the copyrighted page deleted? Perseus25 (talk) 21:59, 9 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Perseus25, I emailed the content to you. S Philbrick(Talk) 22:01, 9 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Sphilbrick, Thank you for your prompt response and email. I am most relieved to have retrieved a copy of my other research. I intend to now recommence the Giles Auty page with all of the copyrighted material deleted. I will do that using the Articles for Creation system as I normally do. Perseus25 (talk) 22:14, 9 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
@RHaworth, I have become aware my Giles Auty draft has been speedily deleted. I had posted copyrighted text to that draft from the other website as a private note to myself for further points to research. I had not realised I was breaking Wikipedia rules as the text was not published on Wikipedia but in a draft state only seen by myself (or so I believed). I understand now that I should not have done that. I am contacting you to let you know that I would like to recommence a draft page for Giles Auty -- with all of the copyrighted material deleted. I will add only content written by myself. I will do that using the Articles for Creation system as I normally do. I would be happy if you could inform me if I am proceeding correctly. Perseus25 (talk) 22:40, 9 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • Yes, before you do anything about Giles Auty, I suggest you address yourself to completing and submitting the two dozen bios that you already have in draft space. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 23:00, 9 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Bookstores in Nepal edit

A tag has been placed on Category:Bookstores in Nepal requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Your draft article, Draft:Lionel McColvin edit

Hello, Perseus25. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Lionel McColvin".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

I'm curious why you've been submitting your articles through AfC. They are all clearly notable and quite well-developed, so there shouldn't be any problems if you create them directly in mainspace. (And that way you won't have to wait several months for a review). Spicy (talk) 14:58, 28 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Spicy: Thank you for approving my Andrew Fabinyi article and for your timely suggestion about creating articles directly in the main space. I would appreciate it if you could give me a link to instructions on how exactly to do that (for some reason I can only find instructions on how to create pages using the AfC process). -- Perseus25 (talk) 09:43, 29 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

The easiest way to do it is to type the title of the article you want to create into the search bar. You will see a prompt saying, " You may create the page "An article", but consider checking the search results below to see whether the topic is already covered." Click on the red link and you will be able to write the article. Alternatively you can create articles in draftspace and use the move tool (under "More" at the top of the page) to move them to articlespace when they're ready. Spicy (talk) 11:32, 29 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Spicy: Thank you. Those instructions are very clear.-- Perseus25 (talk) 14:00, 29 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
