Dear Patriot1423 - I sincerely do not wish to deface your page but I want to send you a private message and cannot find a way to do it (clicking your name or talk leads to just editing your page, which is not that I want to do, however this system is very unintuitive). Anyway please delete this after you read it:

You have been editing the page "list of thermal conductivities" extensively over the past months, and in the process you have destroyed its most important function - which is to provide a scientifically-correct ordered list of average thermal conductivity values (for various elements and materials) in W/m.K. By listing multiple values for each item you've basically just made the table useless, it's completely unnecessary to do this and hugely detracts from the benefit of the table, since there are now hugely irrelevant fringe values padding out each box. As you can probably tell I am no wikipedia guru, but I am an engineer, and I find this page a useful resource. Please return it to its previous guise which was working sufficiently, and is viewable here: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=List_of_thermal_conductivities&oldid=703545180

Apart from listing many superfluous values in each box for thermal conductivity, you have completely broken the ordering system (which can be used by clicking the little up and down arrows - i.e. ascending and descending) of thermal conductivity. When descending (i.e. arrows clicked twice), the order should start with helium, graphene, etc, which are above diamond, which is above copper... it's the natural and correct order. With whatever you've done with the multiple values, it's confusing, and also breaks the correct conductivity order. The page was fine as it was, maybe just leave it be unless you are intimately aware of what you are actually editing. Thanks and please don't take any offence, it just hurts me to see a useful page destroyed. Sincerely - an avid user of wikipedia - however not an editor (as you can see).

Hello Engineer:
I hesitate to delete your important message so fast, as you have requested, since you have important objections.
I’m not so sure that the old list is sufficient since the thermal conductivities actually get around a lot over some large temperature intervals.
Would you measure your refractory insulation at only one temperature and then build a blast furnace with it? If so then I would get nervous about the safety of everyone who is going to work there over close to a whole bunch of molten iron!!!
Also I have noticed that the theoretical article on thermal conductivity has a bunch of theoretical stuff which could hardly get evaluated either one way or the other if we pay no attention to the facts.
I don’t want to throw away a simplified version and instead I would have thought that simplifications are the second part of it.
Now I’m going to copy your message and put it over in the talk section of the article where I am not the only one who has been concerned about the quality of the data. Also I will copy my response over there and so far my impression is that probably Wikipedia deserves more than one list of thermal conductivities.
Thank you for your comment and this matter has not yet been settled.Patriot1423 (talk) 09:10, 22 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Help me! edit

Can I enter tables or lists of values in the list of thermal conductivities with just one reference for the whole table or list (so far I have used the cumbersome method of putting a reference footnote for each value and that seems to be a waste of computer space).

Please help me with... the "List of Thermal Conductivities." Patriot1423 (talk) 15:43, 3 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Patriot1423 (talk) 15:43, 3 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hello, typically, if a list of consecutive entries have the same wource, you should be able to use one reference for them all. The only exception is if it unclear and someone objects. Thank you for your hard work. Happy Squirrel (talk) 16:59, 3 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Help me! edit

I'm still not sure how to enter data in the List of Thermal Conductivities. For example if you look up Fused Quartz over there then some other contributor has started the second column with ...etc. What does that mean? Should I be putting fancy brackets and numbers like that?

What I always did was to just enter the values in one column and the the corresponding temperatures in the next column.

Am I doing something wrong? Should I be entering those fancy brackets and some numbers for something?

Please help me with... List of Thermal Conductivities.

Help me! edit

My last question did not come out the way that I typed it. I was asking about some double brackets that are found in the wiki Markup and some Ntsh and etc for how other contributors have been formatting their contributions.

I don't know what that stuff means not whether I should be formatting that way nor how to do it.

Please help me with... List of Thermal conductivities.

Wikipedia allows users to make bold changes. Feel free to experiment with it. The edit can always be reverted if it goes bad. The way you are asking the question, no one can really help you out. Do what you think is right, and people will look after it for you!

List of thermal conductivities edit

Your Teahouse question was archived, but I thought it was necessary to respond to something you said. It doesn't matter who created the article. No one owns an article here. If it is appropriate to change the name of the article, and sometimes this requires discussion, then it should be done. See WP:RM#CM.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 18:54, 29 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. As far as I can tell this encyclopedia needs more than one list of thermal conductivities. The short list will deprive the critical minority of the information that they really need to understand even long established technologies, and from blast furnace to steam turbine, quite apart from any consideration for future technologies and current proposals, or the earth itself, and the longer version is inconvenient to the majority who want easy answers to simple questions with a sortable list. Can you advise me on how to found or start a new article?Patriot1423 (talk) 23:34, 30 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation link notification for January 9 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of thermal conductivities, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Grease (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

==Hello, can anyone help me with this? Is the bot right? If so, can I revert back to what the bot did before I put it back to my own way? (I didn't realize that it was I myself who must have divided the air and vacuum sectioin into two sections and also stuck a footnote on the label for the material Aluminum).Patriot1423 (talk) 18:29, 9 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
