Hello. Please note that the Ruth Bidgood page will give us copyright problems, if it taken directly from the source book. Also, texts of poems are not suitable for Wikipedia; if they are out of copyright they can be posted to the Wikisource project. Charles Matthews 15:22, 25 May 2005 (UTC)Reply

Hello fellow Huazhong Zidi! edit

Welcome!

Hello, Oonml29, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!

editing style edit

BTW, when you edit pages like poetry (Kindred, Never seek to tell thy love), it would be good if you could add more information about them. This is wikipedia, and we make articles that are encyclopedic, ie with explanations. There is also wikisource which you can dump any text in.

Also, you might want to check out the WP:MOS.

Singlish! edit

Hi Oonml29,

I gather from your Babel that you can speak excellent Singlish (I'm still learning and doing an awful job). I am currently doing some research on it, and was wondering whether you'd be happy to be of help. One of the stereotypical features of Singlish is already, which is used to mark the completive aspect of sentences (i.e. where the action talked of has been completed). Now look at these sentences:

  1. I wash my hand already.
  2. I got wash my hand.
  3. I wash finish hand, then I eat.

Now how do these sentences differ, in your view? Are they putting the emphasis on different points of view? If so, can you paraphrase them, explain in which way they convey different nuances? That would be of great help. Feel free to leave a message me on my talk page. Thanks in advance! JREL 18:25, 8 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

A request for assistance edit

Would you support the concept of moving the Earhart "myths" to a separate page or article? The reason for my suggesting this is that the main article should be an accurate and scholarly work while the speculation and conspiracy theories surrounding the disappearance of Amelia Earhart are interesting, they belong in a unique section. Most researchers, as you know, discount the many theories and speculation that has arisen in the years following her last flight. Go onto the Earhart discussion page and register your vote/comments...and a Happy New Year to you as well. Bzuk 05:02 3 January 2007 (UTC).

WP:CVU status edit

The Wikipedia:Counter-Vandalism Unit project is under consideration to be moved to {{inactive}} and/or {{historical}} status. Another proposal is to delete or redirect the project. You have been identified as a project member and your input as to this matter would be welcomed at WT:CVU#Inactive.3F and at the deletion debate. Thank you! Proposed deletion of Up-Hill edit

The article Up-Hill has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not a particularly notable poem. Unsourced.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Gobonobo T C 14:41, 21 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (File:Crest maha bodhi.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading File:Crest maha bodhi.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:11, 20 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
