Request for Help with Current FACEdit

Hello again! I hope that you are having a wonderful week so far. I was wondering if you could possibly help me with my current FAC? I would be more than happy to review anything in return for your help. Either way, good luck with your current work and your future projects. Aoba47 (talk) 02:08, 29 December 2017 (UTC)

Hey! I'll take a look soon. NumerounovedantTalk 06:10, 29 December 2017 (UTC)
  • Thank you! Aoba47 (talk) 06:34, 29 December 2017 (UTC)
I see that you've asked for a status report at the FAC. I've been through article and do not any glaring flaws that need to be discussed as such. I think it's pretty much FA ready, and should pass the review. That said, I'll offer comments if need be. Good luck with the nomination Aoba47. NumerounovedantTalk 14:04, 31 December 2017 (UTC)
  • Thank you! Aoba47 (talk) 19:10, 31 December 2017 (UTC)
Anytime. Happy new year! NumerounovedantTalk 19:26, 31 December 2017 (UTC)
  • Hello! I hope that you are having a wonderful new year. I apologize for asking for your help again so quickly, but since you did not get a chance to comment on my last FAC, I was wondering if you could do a review for my current one. I would be more than happy to review or help with any of your current or future projects in return. Either way, here is to the start of a great year! Aoba47 (talk) 21:56, 1 January 2018 (UTC)
I've left some comments at the page. I am sure the very minor prose fixes shall be taken care of during the review so i refrained from pointing them out. NumerounovedantTalk 05:21, 2 January 2018 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited My Friend Pinto, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Amazon (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

I need your help at the FAC regarding the review of the images in the "Themes and influences" section. Thanks.    — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 12:53, 10 January 2018 (UTC)

@Ssven2: I've left some comments there, hope they help. VedantTalk 14:57, 10 January 2018 (UTC)
Indeed yes. The only reliable one I got is from Swarajya magazine. I've used up what it speaks about the painting. Other than that, I got nothing. I've removed it.  — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 10:20, 11 January 2018 (UTC)
I think the description paints a pretty good picture of the painting itself. It did have some interesting motifs though, but they are nicely summed up in the text too. VedantTalk 11:11, 11 January 2018 (UTC)

The article has been promoted to FA! My first solo FA!    — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 14:13, 20 January 2018 (UTC)

Autopatrolled grantedEdit

Hi Numerounovedant, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. @Ssven2: Hey there, tbh I am not too sure about this one. College starts in a week, and I have a couple of articles that I'd like to be done with here. I'll try to offer whatever observations that I can come up with nonetheless. NumerounovedantTalk 11:25, 5 January 2018 (UTC)
No problem, Vedant. Do let me know when you do so.    — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 11:30, 5 January 2018 (UTC)
Sure, sir. NumerounovedantTalk 11:35, 5 January 2018 (UTC)
@Ssven2: I was wondering that since you dropped by at Margarita with a Straw, could you go through the Filming and post production section and let me know if reads fine? I am a little concerned about the clarity of the narrative in the first two paragraphs in particular. It'd be great help! NumerounovedantTalk 11:39, 5 January 2018 (UTC)

Margarita with a Straw filmingEdit

Here are my comments:

  • "Snow machines were used to create the artificial environment required for various sequences set during winter season. Koechlin and Revathi had to wear woollen clothes." — This portion doesn't have quite a good description, no offense. Perhaps "Snow machines were used to create the artificial environment required for various sequences set during winter season. As a result, Koechlin and Revathi had to wear woollen clothes."
  • Tweaked.
  • "The crew also faced difficulties in shooting certain scenes; the van that carried Koechlin's wheelchair broke and had to be manually held together while shooting." — Avoid repetition of "shooting" in the same sentence. BTW, it reads more like "the van" had a breakdown or something and not the chair. Do tweak it a little bit. Thanks.
  • It's quite ridiculous but it was the van broke down. xD Although they had no scenes where it was required to move, but the crew did hold the van manually whole Koechlin shot for a scene inside it.
Oh, LOL.  — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 12:22, 5 January 2018 (UTC)
  • "attended the workshop conducted by Bose herself." — Put a "a" instead of "the".

That's pretty much it. Otherwise, the section looks good.  — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 12:00, 5 January 2018 (UTC)

Thank you Ssven2! NumerounovedantTalk 12:19, 5 January 2018 (UTC)
BTW, I have resolved your comments at the FAC. Do let me know if there's anything pending. Thanks.    — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 12:22, 5 January 2018 (UTC)
Yes, I'll do that soon. NumerounovedantTalk 12:26, 5 January 2018 (UTC)

Koechlin is French, periodEdit

Not that I am arguing with you over the topic of her nationality, but from that recent source which proves she is legally French, I have removed "Indian-born" from the lead, since she is not genetically Indian. Feel free to rewrite, not revert. ----Kailash29792 (talk) 12:02, 9 January 2018 (UTC)

@Kailash29792:It's perfectly fine Kailash. I just read the context section here and thought that the "place of birth should not be mentioned in the lead unless they are relevant to the subject's notability" bit was particularly relevant in her case. She is not widley known in the French film industry or the country as such. So, I believe that her being born and brought up in India is an especially significant detail (I know that you'd mostly agree that her being Indian is relevant, just pointing out the reasoning for my actions here). Let me know if a sentence like: "Born in Pudducherry, India to French parents..." sounds like good option. Thank you. VedantTalk 12:29, 9 January 2018 (UTC)
@Kailash29792: People don't seem to be convinced. What do you suggest be done? VedantTalk 14:00, 9 January 2018 (UTC)
The obvious: revert, since Koechlin is not Indian both legally and heritage-wise. Perhaps we could mention her Indian upbringing in the subsequent paragraph? ----Kailash29792 (talk) 14:12, 9 January 2018 (UTC)
Hmm, is the current version good? VedantTalk 14:37, 9 January 2018 (UTC)
The categories describing her as Indian can be removed. --Kailash29792 (talk) 15:49, 9 January 2018 (UTC)

January 2018Edit

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Sonia Gandhi. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing.

  • Given you have spent entire month of December 2017 edit warring over the lead on Sonia Gandhi and now you are making mass changes again without sources or consensus and mostly those edits that were only supported by you, it is now time for you to stop this. Capitals00 (talk) 14:49, 12 January 2018 (UTC)
The only problem is that that nothing constructive has been done. I told you exactly where to look for refs in the summary; mentioned policies that are supposed to support the changes; started a talk discussion; you may want to put this message on your own talk page too. Let the page be as it is, it deserves peace more than anything else. VedantTalk 15:07, 12 January 2018 (UTC)

Nationality of Kalki KoechlinEdit

Hi Numerounovedant,
I was correcting dablinks when I removed the nationality as French in the infobox, without knowing that there have been disputes on it. I haven't made any further changes than that. While in the Ouest website she mentions of having a French passport, they also mention [qui a été son mari pendant sept ans] on her being married to Anurag Kashyap for 7 years, which is incorrect. In these sources 1 and 2, she mentions of having an Indian citizenship. Now as India doesn't grant dual citizenship, there's some issue with the nationality in the article. Your thoughts?,
Thanks, MT TrainDiscuss 15:09, 20 January 2018 (UTC)

Hey Mark the train, thanks for dropping by; I wasn't too sure about the Ouest source at first either. What makes it even more ambiguous is the lack of a proper date (I couldn't find one in the article). Now that you came up with a source that is as recent as November 2016, I would ideally like to go by it. It is her word against her, literally, in which case we should go by more recent source which I believe is The Hindu piece (The Ouest source mentions that she has been a part of about a "dozen" films, which suggests that it must be a lot older than 2016). I think we can back to the Indian nationality then. VedantTalk 15:20, 20 January 2018 (UTC)
I also had doubts with the date of that article as the only reference to her Bollywood work is mentioned as Dev D, which was released way back in 2009. MT TrainDiscuss 16:02, 20 January 2018 (UTC)
Did any of you try viewing the French site's source page to find its' publication date? There has to be some way. --Kailash29792 (talk) 16:30, 20 January 2018 (UTC)
After some efforts, I could find a similar article by the same correspondent in June 2016: https://mediaindia.eu/dossier/kalki-koechlin/ which has been worded a bit differently. If you click on the the next image in the Ouest article, the date shows as May/June 2016 for the same edition. It's also interesting to note that fr:Kalki Koechlin mentions her as an Indian actress of French origin though it also contains the same Ouest source. MT TrainDiscuss 17:31, 20 January 2018 (UTC)
So, it cannot be any newer. We could go back to the Indian nationality on principle then, once we come up with a consensus on whether The Hindu source can be used to declare her Indian. Thoughts Mark the train, Kailash29792? VedantTalk 17:56, 20 January 2018 (UTC)
Meanwhile I found this, a lesser reliable site that terms her an Indian actress. Would it be fine if I link this conversation at WT:IN? Hoping others might help. MT TrainDiscuss 18:51, 20 January 2018 (UTC)
Sure, but I doubt the value of the above listed source. There are numerous articles referring to her as an Indian actress, which don't really explicit her nationality. That would be the case here too. VedantTalk 20:10, 20 January 2018 (UTC)
Thank you. I'll leave this reference and mention the other three. MT TrainDiscuss 04:25, 21 January 2018 (UTC)
Thank you rather. VedantTalk 04:55, 21 January 2018 (UTC)

HBJEdit

I look at Loev's FAC soon. BTW, I would very much like to review HBJ if you are planning to take it to GA, if that's alright. You can review KHNH when I've nominated it for GA.    — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 16:36, 22 January 2018 (UTC)

Sure Ssven2, that'd be great. You must watch Happy Bhag Jayegi, if at all. Logic might not be the very dear to comedy films (especially Bollywood), but this one is a laugh riot and a pure delight all at once! VedantTalk 16:41, 22 January 2018 (UTC)
I do need to watch it as I must have knowledge of the articles I deal with in my reviews as it would help the reviewer have an in-depth understanding of the topic aka be a "keener pair of eyes". I'll also watch Loev too. BTW, have you seen KHNH? Silly me, of course you would have. I do think it is KJo's most mature script along with K3G and MNIK.    — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 16:46, 22 January 2018 (UTC)
I was a die hard Zinta fan growing up, so yes, I've seen pretty much everything that she has done. And, KHNH is one the finer ones of course! The other two, I could simply watch for Kajol! Also, do let me know once you are through with Loev and Happy; I'd love me a review. VedantTalk 16:52, 22 January 2018 (UTC)
Those dimples are to watch out for! Personally, I watched it (I've lost count of the number of times BTW) for her, SRK and Saif (who was brilliant, more than in DCH). My mom loves Kajol, she's a die-hard fan. The thing about Kajol is her comic timing and the way she makes her roles look believable. I mean, any young woman can identify with Simran from DDLJ.    — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 16:57, 22 January 2018 (UTC)
Oh boy, I think we all get our Kajol love from out mums. xD But yes, you are absolutely on point! Her comic timing is crazy, especially her character in Kabhi Khush Kabhi Gam! VedantTalk 17:02, 22 January 2018 (UTC)

Anything for a friend.    — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 14:52, 24 January 2018 (UTC)

I need your help with KHNH's GA. Bollyjeff prefers a copyedit of the article and, in his own words: "if you could have another editor check the grammar I would feel better about it." So do help me out here.    — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 16:38, 26 January 2018 (UTC)

Ssven2, I've offered some quick copy-edits to article's major sections (Production, Release, and Reception). Considering the article's size, I think that it would still need substantial work, but that can be done at a later point. It should do for now IMO. Let me know if there is anything else. VedantTalk 18:50, 26 January 2018 (UTC)
I do have some queries and suggestions, but I can discuss them later at the article's talk page, away from the time restrictions of the GAR, which it should pass. It is very thorough; you did a great job expanding the article. VedantTalk 18:55, 26 January 2018 (UTC)

Done as requested.    — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 13:06, 30 January 2018 (UTC)

Vedant, isn't it time to create a separate filmography for Kalki Koechlin? She has 25+ films under her kitty now as well as 4 television appearances.    — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 10:17, 31 January 2018 (UTC)

Idk Ssven2, I am never too sure about when it is the right time. Lists are just not my thing; Yashthepunisher had reservations when I created Knightley's Filmography (she has 30+ credits), but I mostly agreed with him. Also, I do not know how the article would look with a separate filmography, but the awards still in it. That'd be a little odd too. Maybe wait till both filmography and awards get there? Meanwhile, I'll try and come up with a comprehensive list of theatre credits as well. How you do feel about that? VedantTalk 12:47, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
Sounds good. Watched Padmaavat today. Jhakkas Ranveer Singh in full form! Can watch it at least once for his spirited, out-of-control, mad, crazy performance.    — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 16:55, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
@Ssven2: Oh, I believe that he's crazy alright in all his films. 😂 Not sure if I am going to watch Padmavat anytime soon; too many people at the movies at the moment. Maybe next week when the mania wears off. VedantTalk 17:01, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
Speaking of his craziness, take a look at this.    — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 15:14, 2 February 2018 (UTC)
Hey Ssven2, I finally got a chance to watch it. I see the crazy; although I must say it's another one of the gloriously unimpressive sagas. Also, the actors with restrain impressed me a lot more than the crazy lot. Sarbh and Hydari were magnetic with their measured performances. Even Shahid did just fine with whatever was given to him (No one can save the vo rajput speech though). I'd chose them over the crazy anyday. VedantTalk 18:13, 2 February 2018 (UTC)

Margarita with a Straw editing questionsEdit

So far, it's well written and clear, so my edits are minor. But you finish the plot with, 'a date outside, by herself'. I'm guessing the meaning is 'a day in the country, by herself'. I just wanted to alert you in case this is wrong and you need to rephrase it. JimHolden (talk) 22:13, 26 January 2018 (UTC)

Yes JimHolden, pretty much. VedantTalk 12:31, 27 January 2018 (UTC)

I've hopefully resolved your last two queries in case you did not receive my ping.    — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 15:56, 2 March 2018 (UTC)

I really need your help, Vedant. Eric Corbett has provided an oppose to the article on the grounds that its grammar has a rather "disjointed" and "staccato"-like style. Could you do me and Kailash the honour of performing a copyedit on the article to better it from the current version? Thank you.    — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 10:02, 8 March 2018 (UTC)

Yes, I see that Ssven2, I'll go through the article again later today. VedantTalk 10:06, 8 March 2018 (UTC)
Eric Corbett has struck off his oppose as per the article's current version. Thank you so much for your help, Vedant.    — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 12:58, 9 March 2018 (UTC)
Hey, Ssven2, you still might want to incorporate the changes that I made? I think the article reads better that way. Good luck with it now! VedantTalk 13:37, 9 March 2018 (UTC)
You can do so, Vedant. Thank you.  — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 17:15, 9 March 2018 (UTC)
I did, Ssven2. I also tried to make all the changes that have been made since, but that was a little tricky. You might have to take a look to make sure that everything is in order. I cannot seem to understand anymore, my brain might explode if I continue. 😅 VedantTalk 15:29, 13 March 2018 (UTC)

I have a feeling that we can shape the article better in a sandbox and paste it after expansion. Your call though.    — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 07:07, 27 March 2018 (UTC)

Yes, Ssven2, considering that the most of it has to begin from scratch we should do that. Should we add the useful bits to the sandbox or start with a completelynew structure? VedantTalk 07:15, 27 March 2018 (UTC)
A completely new structure should be implemented IMHO. We can get a better flow in the prose that way. I've started a bit in the sandbox already.    — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 07:24, 27 March 2018 (UTC)

WikiCup 2018 March newsletterEdit

And so ends the first round of the competition, with 4 points required to qualify for round 2. With 53 contestants qualifying, the groups for round 2 are slightly smaller than usual, with the two leaders from each group due to qualify for round 3 as well as the top sixteen remaining users.

Our top scorers in round 1 were:

  •   Aoba47 led the field with a featured article, 8 good articles and 42 GARs, giving a total of 666 points.
  •   FrB.TG , a WikiCup newcomer, came next with 600 points, gained from a featured article and masses of bonus points.
  •   Ssven2, another WikiCup newcomer, was in third place with 403 points, garnered from a featured article, a featured list, a good article and twelve GARs.
  •   Ceranthor,   Numerounovedant,   Carbrera,   Farang Rak Tham and   Cartoon network freak all had over 200 points, but like all the other contestants, now have to start again from scratch. A good achievement was the 193 GARs performed by WikiCup contestants, comparing very favourably with the 54 GAs they achieved.

Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 1 but before the start of round 2 can be claimed in round 2. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews.

If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to help keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. OrphanReferenceFixer: Help on reversionEdit

Hi there! I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. Recently, you reverted my fix to Nicholas Hoult.

If you did this because the references should be removed from the article, you have misunderstood the situation. Most likely, the article originally contained both <ref name="foo">...</ref> and one or more <ref name="foo"/> referring to it. Someone then removed the <ref name="foo">...</ref> but left the <ref name="foo"/>, which results in a big red error in the article. I replaced one of the remaining <ref name="foo"/> with a copy of the <ref name="foo">...</ref>; I did not re-insert the reference to where it was deleted, I just replaced one of the remaining instances. What you need to do to fix it is to make sure you remove all instances of the named reference so as to not leave any big red error.

If you reverted because I made an actual mistake, please be sure to also correct any reference errors in the page so I won't come back and make the same mistake again. Also, please post an error report at User talk:AnomieBOT so my operator can fix me! If the error is so urgent that I need to be stopped, also post a message at User:AnomieBOT/shutoff/OrphanReferenceFixer. Thanks! The Legend of Bhagat SinghEdit

I managed to work on this and am planning for this as my next GA. I was hoping you would review it. As for Three Billboards, I would like the both of us to work on it equally and hence I will wait for you to start editing on it first.    — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 08:40, 3 April 2018 (UTC)

Hey, Ssven2. I think I can find some time to review the The Legend. I have been extremely occupied otherwise and haven'treally thought about the other Wiki-work in the past couple of days. I might not edit regularly until after the CWG as I planned on extending my break and it was the perfect reason. • Replying to your comment: "Again, it should be either Bhagat or Bhagat Singh throughout." I've mentioned the revolutionary's name as "Bhagat" save the instances where his full name is quoted/stated/said by the cast and crew.
  • Another one: "he had not watched Shaheed before signing up for the project": I have already linked Shaheed to the 1965 Manoj Kumar film at the start of the Production section under the first line of the development sub-section. I did not want to link it a second time due to WP:OVERLINK. Kailash29792 has resolved it on my behalf. Thanks, buddy.    — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 11:05, 12 April 2018 (UTC)

WikiCup 2018 May newsletterEdit

The second round of the 2018 WikiCup has now finished. Most contestants who advanced to the next round scored upwards of 100 points, but two with just 10 points managed to scrape through into round 3. Our top scorers in the last round were:

  •   Cas Liber, our winner in 2016, with three featured articles
  •   Iazyges, with nine good articles and lots of bonus points
  •   Yashthepunisher, a first time contestant, with two featured lists
  •   SounderBruce, a finalist last year, with seventeen good topic articles
  •   Usernameunique, a first time contestant, with fourteen DYKs
  •   Muboshgu, a seasoned competitor, with three ITNs and
  •   Courcelles, another first time contestant, with twenty-seven GARs

So far contestants have achieved twelve featured articles between them and a splendid 124 good articles. Commendably, 326 GARs have been completed during the course of the 2018 WikiCup, so the backlog of articles awaiting GA review has been reduced as a result of contestants' activities. As we enter the third round, remember that any content promoted after the end of round 2 but before the start of round 3 can be claimed in round 3. Remember too that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them. When doing GARs, please make sure that you check that all the GA criteria are fully met; most of the GARs are fine, but a few have been a bit skimpy.

If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article nominations, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! Congratulations on your many FAs! You are an amazing writer. BTW, I was planning to nominate Ventilator for FAC. Can you give some input? I would appreciate it.Krish | Talk 06:17, 10 May 2018 (UTC)

That's a generous remark, thank you Krish!. I'd love to help, do you plan on opening a peer review? VedantTalk 09:10, 10 May 2018 (UTC)
Should I open a peer review? I didn't do anything for Aitraaz yet it passed and I did do that for Mary Kom and yet it failed. LOL. I really don't know. I wanted you to take a look at the article and say whether it's FA worthy or not.Krish | Talk 10:55, 10 May 2018 (UTC)
Yes, that's okay. I'll leave some comments at the article's talk page itself once I read through it? VedantTalk 11:49, 10 May 2018 (UTC)

Hi vedant, hope things are alright with you. Can you please review this article? Yashthepunisher (talk) 19:42, 18 May 2018 (UTC)

Sure Yash, I have a very busy weekend. How about Monday? VedantTalk 19:43, 18 May 2018 (UTC)
Okay. Yashthepunisher (talk) 19:44, 18 May 2018 (UTC)

AwardsEdit

How about a bit of lead for the list article, saying in prose that he was nominated often and won a few, and the highlights of the acting career? I have little time, may get to the FAC review later. Just a minor thing: I have been criticised for saying "Selected" in discographies, and have begun to say "Recordings" instead of "Selected recordings". --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:28, 19 May 2018 (UTC)

I've been meaning to add a lead to the list for a while too now, but haven't really had the time. I think you're right about the mention on his win percentage would be an interesting detail. I'll try and get to it ASAP (the heading too). Thanks for the help, Gerda. VedantTalk 08:34, 19 May 2018 (UTC)
Did you ever read about my simple dream, in a nutshell: that infobox parameters are normal things to be discussed and changed, always granting the assumption that others act in good faith. Asking for AGF is saying it's missing ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:07, 19 May 2018 (UTC)
Oh that's a lovely way to put it Gerda! I had not come across that before, but yes, we learn everyday. I hope everyone can still discuss freely at the talk page. VedantTalk 12:14, 19 May 2018 (UTC)
I just got what you meant Gerda. i didn't mean that and I Have rephrased! VedantTalk 12:17, 19 May 2018 (UTC)

Hello again! I hope that you are having a wonderful week so far. I was wondering if you could possibly help me with my current FAC? Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:04, 19 June 2018 (UTC)

PR for Fawad KhanEdit

Hi, I've recently requested a PR for the article Fawad Khan (see here). It'd be an honour for me if you consider reviewing it. Thanks. Amirk94391 (talk) 05:45, 24 June 2018 (UTC)

I'll try and a take a look soon, Amirk94391. I did take a quick look at the article and you might want to work on the refs which have missed publisher names a couple of times, use improper names as indianexpress.com and such, and have some questionable sources as India.com. VedantTalk 08:35, 24 June 2018 (UTC)
Thank you so much for your response, I've replaced india.com's refs with reliable news source. I hope to see you on PR page soon, but for instance can you please tell me that besides india.com and Bollywoodlife, what other sources you found unreliable? Thanks Amirk94391 (talk) 10:40, 24 June 2018 (UTC)
idiva and Mid-Day aren't particularly high quality but they might just qualify as reliable. The rest look good for now. VedantTalk<Talk 11:32, 24 June 2018 (UTC)
Well I guess these are alright, I mean a platform launched by Times Internet (iDiva) and a prominent newspaper (Mid Day) are enough to be reliable. I'm considering it for WP:FA but once I've it peer reviewed, So I hope you'll consider reviewing it. Amirk94391 (talk) 20:14, 24 June 2018 (UTC)
Yes, I'll try and get to it soon. VedantTalk 20:18, 24 June 2018 (UTC)

Hello, Vedant. This article is my latest GA attempt. I was hoping if you could review it. Do let me know if you wish to do so by pinging me. Thank you.    — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 07:40, 1 July 2018 (UTC)

Hey, Ssven2. I might not have time before the weekend as I am shifting places, is it alright if I get to maybe by Sunday? VedantTalk 11:04, 2 July 2018 (UTC)
No problem. Do let me know when you take it up. Thank you.    — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 13:46, 2 July 2018 (UTC)

I've resolved the first three ("Scroll.in should be italicised", "Link Sify" and "Why mention the agency specifically for ref 16?"). As for Behindwoods, Silverscreen.in and IndiaGlitz, I've included exclusive interviews only and would not have considered them had they been just mere gossip/bilge. Do take this into consideration and have a look at the article before giving your verdict. Thank you.    — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 17:30, 19 July 2018 (UTC)

WikiCup 2018 July newsletterEdit

The third round of the 2018 WikiCup has now come to an end. The 16 users who made it to the fourth round had at least 227 points. Our top scorers in round 3 were:

  •   Courcelles, a first time contestant, with 1756 points, a tally built largely on 27 GAs related to the Olympics
  •   Cas Liber, our winner in 2016, with two featured articles and three GAs on natural history and astronomy topics
  •   SounderBruce, a finalist last year, with a variety of submissions related to transport in the state of Washington

Contestants managed 7 featured articles, 4 featured lists, 120 good articles, 1 good topic, 124 DYK entries, 15 ITN entries, and 132 good article reviews. Over the course of the competition, contestants have completed 458 GA reviews, in comparison to 244 good articles submitted for review and promoted. As we enter the fourth round, remember that any content promoted after the end of round 3 but before the start of round 4 can be claimed in round 4. Please also remember that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them. When doing GARs, please make sure that you check that all the GA criteria are fully met. Please also remember that all submissions must meet core Wikipedia policies, regardless of the review process; several submissions, particularly in abstruse or technical areas, have needed additional work to make them completely verifiable.

Good luck! Hello again! I hope that you are doing well. I have been inspired with your work on film articles, and I have recently expanded the The Beautician and the Beast article; I was wondering if you could possibly gauge whether or not it would be ready for an FAC? Apologies for the inconvenience. I hope that you are having a wonderful week so far! Aoba47 (talk) 02:12, 22 August 2018 (UTC)

I'll surely take a look, Aoba47. Sometime this weekend? VedantTalk 12:24, 22 August 2018 (UTC)
  • Thank you! Aoba47 (talk) 16:18, 22 August 2018 (UTC)
Hey, Aoba47. The basics look right (I'm not going into the prose just yet.), but you've missed a couple of things: technicians as cinematographer, editor etc have to be incorporated into the prose in the production section (they remain unsubstantiated otherwise); same thing for the film's runtime; also, is there a reason for putting the analysis before the production section? VedantTalk 11:58, 27 August 2018 (UTC)
It should be good to go then, Aoba47! Prose can be scrutinized at FAC. VedantTalk 17:00, 29 August 2018 (UTC)

WikiCup 2018 September newsletterEdit

The fourth round of the 2018 WikiCup has now come to an end. The eight users who made it to the final round had to score a minimum of 422 points to qualify, with the top score in the round being 4869 points. The leaders in round 4 were:

  •   Courcelles scored a magnificent 4869 points, with 92 good articles on Olympics-related themes. Courcelles' bonus points alone exceeded the total score of any of the other contestants!
  •   Kees08 was second with 1155 points, including a high-scoring featured article for Neil Armstrong, two good topics and some Olympics-related good articles.
  •   Cas Liber, with 1066 points, was in third place this round, with two featured articles and a good article, all on natural history topics.
  • Other contestants who qualified for the final round were   Nova Crystallis,   Iazyges,   SounderBruce,   Kosack and   Ceranthor.

During round four, 6 featured articles and 164 good articles were promoted by WikiCup contestants, 13 articles were included in good topics and 143 good article reviews were performed. There were also 10 "in the news" contributions on the main page and 53 "did you knows". Congratulations to all who participated! It was a generally high-scoring and productive round and I think we can expect a highly competitive finish to the competition.

Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 4 but before the start of round 5 can be claimed in round 5. Remember too that you must claim your points within 10 days of "earning" them. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. It would be helpful if this list could be cleared of any items no longer relevant. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck, and let the best editor win! WikiCup 2019 March newsletterEdit

And so ends the first round of the competition. Everyone with a positive score moves on to Round 2. With 56 contestants qualifying, each group in Round 2 contains seven contestants, with the two leaders from each group due to qualify for Round 3 as well as the top sixteen remaining contestants.

Our top scorers in Round 1 were:

  •   L293D, a WikiCup newcomer, led the field with ten good articles on submarines for a total of 357 points.
  •   Adam Cuerden, a WikiCup veteran, came next with 274 points, mostly from eight featured pictures, restorations of artwork.
  •   MPJ-DK, a wrestling enthusiast, was in third place with 263 points, garnered from a featured list, five good articles, two DYKs and four GARs.
  •   Usernameunique came next at 243, with a featured article and a good article, both on ancient helmets.
  •   Squeamish Ossifrage was in joint fifth place with 224 points, mostly garnered from bringing the 1937 Fox vault fire to featured article status.
  •   Ed! was also on 224, with an amazing number of good article reviews (56 actually).

These contestants, like all the others, now have to start scoring points again from scratch. Between them, contestants completed reviews on 143 good articles, one hundred more than the number of good articles they claimed for, thus making a substantial dent in the review backlog. Well done all!

If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! •   Cas Liber (1210), our winner in 2016, with two featured articles and three DYKs. He also made good use of the bonus points available, more than doubling his score by choosing appropriate articles to work on.
  •   Kosack (750), last year's runner up, with an FA, a GA, two FLs, and five DYKs.
  •   Adam Cuerden (480), a WikiCup veteran, with 16 featured pictures, mostly restorations.
  •   Zwerg Nase (461), a seasoned competitor, with a FA, a GA and an ITN item.

Other notable performances were put in by   Barkeep49 with six GAs,   Ceranthor,   Lee Vilenski, and   Canada Hky, each with seven GARs, and   MPJ-DK with a seven item GT.

So far contestants have achieved nine featured articles between them and a splendid 80 good articles. Commendably, 227 GARs have been completed during the course of the 2019 WikiCup, so the backlog of articles awaiting GA review has been reduced as a result of contestants' activities. The judges are pleased with the thorough GARs that are being performed, and have hardly had to reject any. As we enter the third round, remember that any content promoted after the end of round 2 but before the start of round 3 can be claimed in round 3. Remember too that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them.

Good luck! Peer Review for Raja HarishchandraEdit

Hey. I hope you are doing well. I have started peer review for India's first feature film Raja Harishchandra here. I am planning to take it to FAC in the near future. However, I dont have any previous experience with FACs so thought of putting PR first. I would appreciate if you can put your comments. - Vivvt (Talk) 07:50, 22 June 2019 (UTC)

WikiCup 2019 July newsletterEdit

The third round of the 2019 WikiCup has now come to an end. The 16 users who made it to the fourth round needed to score at least 68 points, which is substantially lower than last year's 227 points. Our top scorers in round 3 were:

  •   Cas Liber, our winner in 2016, with 500 points derived mainly from a featured article and two GAs on natural history topics
  •   Adam Cuerden, with 480 points, a tally built on 16 featured pictures, the result of meticulous restoration work
  •   SounderBruce, a finalist in the last two years, with 306 points from a variety of submissions, mostly related to sport or the State of Washington
  •   Usernameunique, with 305 points derived from a featured article and two GAs on archaeology and related topics

Contestants managed 4 (5) featured articles, 4 featured lists, 18 featured pictures, 29 good articles, 50 DYK entries, 9 ITN entries, and 39 good article reviews. As we enter the fourth round, remember that any content promoted after the end of round 3 but before the start of round 4 can be claimed in round 4. Please also remember that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them, and it is imperative to claim them in the correct round; one FA claim had to be rejected because it was incorrectly submitted (claimed in Round 3 when it qualified for Round 2), so be warned! When doing GARs, please make sure that you check that all the GA criteria are fully met.

If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article nominations, a featured process, or anything else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! File permission problem with File:Happy bhag jayegi tgeatrical poster.jpgEdit

Thanks for uploading File:Happy bhag jayegi tgeatrical poster.jpg, which you've attributed to https://www.bollywoodhungama.com/photos/first-look/happy-bhag-jayegi/happy-bhag-jayegi-11/. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ♠PMC(talk) 09:03, 9 July 2019 (UTC)

WikiCup 2019 September newsletterEdit

The fourth round of the competition has finished in a flurry of last minute activity, with 454 points being required to qualify for the final round. It was a hotly competitive round with two contestants with over 400 points being eliminated, and all but two of the finalists having achieved an FA during the round. Casliber, our 2016 winner, was the highest point-scorer, followed by Enwebb and Lee Vilenski, who are both new to the competition. In fourth place was SounderBruce, a finalist last year. But all those points are swept away as we start afresh for the final round.

Round 4 saw the achievement of 11 featured articles. In addition, Adam Cuerden scored with 18 FPs, Lee Vilenski led the GA score with 8 GAs while Kosack performed 15 GA reviews. There were around 40 DYKs, 40 GARs and 31 GAs overall during round 4. Even though contestants performed more GARs than they achieved GAs, there was still some frustration at the length of time taken to get articles reviewed.

As we start round 5, we say goodbye to the eight competitors who didn't quite make it; thank you for the useful contributions you have made to the Cup and Wikipedia, and we hope you will join us again next year. Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 4 but before the start of round 5 can be claimed in round 5. Remember too that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them (some people have fallen foul of this rule and the points have been removed).

If you are concerned that your nomination, whether it be for a good article, a featured process, or anything else, will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to help keep down the review backlogs! Thank you for those edits of generosity. During the article's fourth FAC, Fowler&fowler made a mountain of hard-to-resolve comments that caused the failure. Ssven was not as active as he promised he would be, and I won't re-open the FAC until he returns or Fowler's issues are solved (he has continued to make comments in multiple sections even after the FAC, but I hope he doesn't return for the next FAC). WikiCup 2019 November newsletterEdit

The WikiCup is over for another year! Our Champion this year is   Adam Cuerden (submissions), who over the course of the competition has amassed 91 featured pictures, including 32 in the final round. Our finalists this year were:

  1.   Adam Cuerden (submissions) with 964 points
  2.   Lee Vilenski (submissions) with 899 points
  3.   Casliber (submissions) with 817 points
  4.   Kosack (submissions) with 691 points
  5.   SounderBruce (submissions) with 388 points
  6.   Enwebb (submissions) with 146 points
  7.   Usernameunique (submissions) with 145 points
  8.   HaEr48 (submissions) with 74 points

All those who reached the final will win awards. The following special awards will be made based on high performance in particular areas of content creation. So that the finalists do not have an undue advantage, these prizes are awarded to the competitor who scored the highest in any particular field in a single round, or in the event of a tie, to the overall leader in this field. Awards will be handed out in the coming weeks. Please be patient!

Congratulations to everyone who participated in this year's WikiCup, whether you made it to the final rounds or not, and particular congratulations to the newcomers to the WikiCup who have achieved much this year. Thanks to all who have taken part and helped out with the competition, not forgetting User:Jarry1250, who runs the scoring bot.

We have opened a scoring discussion on whether the rules and scoring need adjustment. Please have your say. Next year's competition will begin on 1 January. You are invited to sign up to participate; the WikiCup is open to all Wikipedians, both novices and experienced editors, and we hope to see you all in the 2020 competition. Until then, it only remains to once again congratulate our worthy winners, and thank all participants for their involvement! Removal of Seats in InfoboxEdit

Hi @Numerounovedant: I noticed you have removed the "Seats parameter" inside the infobox of Indian National Congress and the reasons you gave are justified. But, I noticed in other Indian political parties like Bharatiya Janata Party, Nationalist Congress Party, Communist Party of India (Marxist), Bahujan Samaj Party, and Samajwadi Party. In all these parties infobox those whole List of seats of individual states were mentioned. Will you removed those or keep them. I agree with your view it very difficult to manage particularly for mobile users. Thanks--Metatheria (talk) 06:31, 4 November 2019 (UTC)

Hey, Metatheria, thanks for dropping by. I've removed the listings from BJP and CPI (M) infoboxes considering that they were long and a disruptive. I'm not too sure if the same is the case with SP and BSP. Their lists can stay? VedantTalk 09:51, 4 November 2019 (UTC)
@Numerounovedant:, I would suggest better remove NCP, SP and BSP as well, its not only managing by mobile users but every now and then by- elections take place its very difficult to monitor them, which party losses seats or wins seats, then respective changes have to be made according to the results. Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha seats are enough.Thanks--Metatheria (talk) 04:45, 5 November 2019 (UTC)

Happy New Year, Happy New Decade and Happy New WikiCup! The competition begins today and all article creators, expanders and improvers are welcome to take part. If you have already signed up, your submissions page can be found here. If you have not yet signed up, you can add your name here and the judges will set up your submissions page. Any questions on the rules or on anything else connected to the Cup should be directed to one of the judges, or posted to the WikiCup talk page. Signups will close at the end of January, and the first round will end on 26 February; the 64 highest scorers at that time will move on to round 2. Good luck! WikiCup 2020 March newsletterEdit

And so ends the first round of the competition. Everyone with a positive score moves on to Round 2, with 57 contestants qualifying. We have abolished the groups this year, so to qualify for Round 3 you will need to finish Round 2 among the top thirty-two contestants.

Our top scorers in Round 1 were:

  •   Epicgenius, a WikiCup newcomer, led the field with a featured article, five good articles and an assortment of other submissions, specialising on buildings and locations in New York, for a total of 895 points.
  •   Gog the Mild came next with 464 points, from a featured article, two good articles and a number of reviews, the main theme being naval warfare.
  •   Raymie was in third place with 419 points, garnered from one good article and an impressive 34 DYKs on radio and TV stations in the United States.
  •   Harrias came next at 414, with a featured article and three good articles, an English civil war battle specialist.
  •   CaptainEek was in fifth place with 405 points, mostly garnered from bringing Cactus wren to featured article status.
  • The top ten contestants at the end of Round 1 all scored over 200 points; they also included   L293D,   Kingsif,   Enwebb,   Lee Vilenski and   CAPTAIN MEDUSA. Seven of the top ten contestants in Round 1 are new to the WikiCup.

These contestants, like all the others, now have to start scoring points again from scratch. In Round 1 there were four featured articles, one featured list and two featured pictures, as well as around two hundred DYKs and twenty-seven ITNs. Between them, contestants completed 127 good article reviews, nearly a hundred more than the 43 good articles they claimed for, thus making a substantial dent in the review backlog. Contestants also claimed for 40 featured article / featured list reviews, and most even remembered to mention their WikiCup participation in their reviews (a requirement).

Remember that any content promoted after the end of Round 1 but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2. Some contestants made claims before the new submissions pages were set up, and they will need to resubmit them.

If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! WikiCup newsletter correctionEdit

There was an error in the WikiCup 2020 March newsletter;   L293D should not have been included in the list of top ten scorers in Round 1 (they led the list last year), instead,   Dunkleosteus77 should have been included, having garnered 334 points from five good articles on animals, living or extinct, and various reviews.
