q And qw

In the http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Ku_%28kana%29&diff=198155624&oldid=195292345 of Ku (kana), why is q appearing before qw in the "Other additional forms" table? Is it because it appeared first in Japanese literature or is it because it is more common?Asrghasrhiojadrhr (talk) 04:31, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi Nihonjoe, I was hoping you could please look up for me in Mechademia 1 the review/commentary which compares Maria-sama ga Miteru and Azumanga Daioh by Marc Hairston, of course, at your convenience and leisure. Thanks for your time. -Malkinann (talk) 06:31, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Advice request

I notice from the MoS guideling on Japanese stlye that you have a template there and appear to know a thing or two about it. I was wondering if you could give me your advice about a page I came across recently. 坂本 is the redirect. I had figured it for nonsense until it was redirected to a disambig. I had requested speedy on it and the author kept removing the tag. I now think it just needs a more clear title but I can't make out what I'm looking for in the MoS. Any thoughts would be appreciated. SynergeticMaggot (talk) 09:36, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

I have several templates there (meaning I made several of the templates there), so which one are you talking about? As for the kanji redirect, there is an entry at Wikipedia:Disambiguation#Disambiguation of CJKV character names which addresses this point specifically. I also just created the CJKV taskforce which seeks to coordinate the efforts of this sort of disambiguation. You're welcome to participate. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 19:14, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
No this clears up my mistakes. I know next to nothing about the topic but thanks for responding. :) SynergeticMaggot (talk) 12:51, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

The CJKV taskforce has been created to assist in disambiguation of Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Vietnamese when using Kyūjitai, Hanja, Hán tự, Simplified Chinese, and Shinjitai (Kanji). David Weber

Hi Nihonjoe and thank you for your message. Sorry I didn't know the standard way of moving the article. I first moved David Weber to David Weber (science fiction writer). I then made the David Weber page into a list of people named David Weber with appropriate links to the clarinetist and science fiction writer. Somehow someone changed the David Weber page to make it loop back on itself and I couldn't find the science fiction writer's page to restore what had been changed. I saw something about a "housekeeping" measure and it wasn't clear what was meant by this. So as a interim measure until the David Weber (science fiction writer) page was restored/found, I undid the self-loop on the David Weber page and directed it to the David Weber (clarinetist) page, with the intention of changing it to a page with links to both the clarinetist and science fiction writer once the latter's page reappeared out of housekeeping. Could we model the David Weber page after this one on Emma Johnson? - Casadesus —Preceding unsigned comment added by Casadesus (talkcontribs) 02:49, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

I don't think there are any other David Weber's that are anywhere near as well known as the science fiction author. Additionally, there are only two David Weber articles on the site, so there's no reason to make a disambig page. If one is necessary in the future, I would support one at David Weber (disambiguation). ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 02:57, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

LardAss-tro Boy

Hi, Nihonjoe. Mainichi has this interesting little article on Tezuka Productions' newest incarnation of Astro Boy. Not sure which article it should go in, but it should go somewhere, I would think:

  • Connell, Ryann (April 15, 2008). "New, fat version of Japan's most famous superhero creates 'LardAss-tro Boy'". Mainichi Shimbun. Retrieved 2008-04-15. {{cite news}}: Check date values in: |date= (help)

Re: Hiromi Ishikawa (and others)

Oh. Sorry. Didn't know that. I just don't want to make a redirect out of my own test page.Kitty53 (talk) 00:53, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

If I moved the test page after testing it, since there is a message on my test page, I'd bring the whole message with it when I moved it. I'd be turning it into a redirect. Then I'd have to copy and paste the entire message that came with it! Then it would be ridiculous! I just want to create articles! And I do need to test my articles! If I moved my test page, it would give me more work. That's all I'm saying.Kitty53 (talk) 02:21, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Japanese Music Charts

Hi, I'm just writing to you to request your help and assistance in referencing the Japanese Music Charts. Through out alot of popular english songs I have viewed I have noticed that they have been noted as performing well in Japan and have also read that the Japanese music market it very big. But in saying this every song I have seen has not got a Japanese chart position in the charts box. So if you are into music and willing to try and provide information on the Japanese Music Charts it would be greatly appreciated so then wikipedia users can start adding the Japanese chart positions into the chart boxes for popular songs. JA Wikipedia

Hi, Nihonjoe. I know this has nothing to do with English Wikipedia, but there are some errors I have fixed on Japanese Wikipedia, but some of those revisions I have made to fix the errors were reverted. That's what bugs me about that Wikipedia. For example, the Japanese article on Norio Wakamoto has his blood type listed incorrectly, and the JA article on Yasunori Masutani has the incorrect birthyear. I've corrected both of those, but they were later changed back to the misinformation.Kitty53 (talk) 21:01, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi! Please take a look at the intro of the article. I don't understand the edit by the user Globalscene. It seems to me that is a pro-Korean edit. And as far as I know, yakuza has nothing to do with the Japanese culture but the recent pop culture. I reverted the user's edit a few times, thinking it was a mistake or vandalism. You know, you're being a real ass about this. You complained that there weren't refs for everything, so I provided them and removed the unreferenced stuff. Now you just want to remove it altogether. Why don't you go do something actually useful instead of removing relevant and referenced material from an article. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 02:53, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
Would you please tell me your idea how to edit the article?--Michael Friedrich (talk) 11:50, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
I've expressed my opinions, and I've edited the section to be fine all by itself. I don't think there should be an "every Japanese cultural element we can think of" section as that belongs somewhere like Nausicaa.net. In fact, I suggest you submit that information there, with references, as they may be interested in something like that. They are always looking for new information and new ideas for content. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 03:32, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

New Project

Myself and several other editors have been compiling a list of very active editors who would likely be available to help new editors in the event they have questions or concerns. As the list grew and the table became more detailed, it was determined that the best way to complete the table was to ask each potential candidate to fill in their own information, if they so desire. This list is sorted geographically in order to provide a better estimate as to whether the listed editor is likely to be active.

If you consider yourself a very active Wikipedian who is willing to help newcomers, please either complete your information in the table or add your entry. If you do not want to be on the list, either remove your name or just disregard this message and your entry will be removed within 48 hours. The table can be found at User:Useight/Highly Active, as it has yet to have been moved into the Wikipedia namespace. Thank you for your help. Useight (talk) 17:47, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

Userpage

Deepest apologies. I'm more than willing to oblige. It's an extremely rare thing that I edit someone else's userspace (with the exception of User:NoSeptember's admin project); I was merely adding the members of WP:HAU to the required category to ensure that HAU's online/offline mechanism works correctly. Without this category in place, the functionality of HAU is limited. Useight (talk) 05:43, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

No problem. It just uses some tricky formatting and such, so I prefer to mess it up myself rather than having others do so for me. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 05:58, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
I hope I didn't mess anything up too badly, usually categories are down at the bottom of the page away from the rest of the formatting, but your userpage is way more complex than mine. Obviously, feel free to revert my edits, just know that without that particular category on the page, your entry at WP:HAU won't update automatically. Useight (talk) 06:50, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

Sourcing "Igzex"

Thanks for the reply on MOS. Concerning "igzex", how exactly could that be sourced? I imagine the language iself cannot be claimed as a source. Satoryu (talk) 05:54, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

If there are any game magazines (or sites) which explain how it's pronounced, that would be a good place to start. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 06:01, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
Why couldn't the language itself not be considered a source? Katakana tell us how the title is to be pronounced. That's a source. 88.161.129.43 (talk) 23:41, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
If it's in a third-party source such as a magazine, then it could be used. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 22:49, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
