Disambiguation link notification for July 20 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Ebertfest: Roger Ebert's Film Festival, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Albert Parker. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Bullying on the Nina Paley Article edit

You have jumped to reverting edits that you have no basis to revert and made this article about you bullying other . Nina Paley has done no work as a gender critical feminist. None. She is a trans exclusionary radical feminist. She discussed that in the TERFING . Her only discussion of gender are that she says transgender people are only the biological sex and not the gender they identify as. Her sources say that OUTRIGHT! She can call herself whatever she chooses. the same way she claims that transgender can but her identity is as a TERF and nothing more. 104.34.202.79 (talk) 19:25, 11 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

A page you started (Radical Harmonies) has been reviewed! edit

Thanks for creating Radical Harmonies.

I have just reviewed the page, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

Very well put together article. Such a shame there is no RT or Metacritic data but it is notable and the creator is also notable. Well done.

DYK for Inez Catalon edit

On 8 February 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Inez Catalon, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that during her final performance at the 1994 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Louisiana Creole singer Inez Catalon chastised female audience members for dressing immodestly? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Inez Catalon. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Inez Catalon), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

WP:ALUMNI does not require material in embedded lists to have an article edit

In a recent edit summary, you wrote that "notability requires a WP article, per WP:ALUMNI." I just wanted to let you know that the advice article you cited does not actually say that and material included in embedded lists does not have to meet our standards for notability. Specifically, our current guideline says: "Inclusion in lists contained within articles should be determined by WP:SOURCELIST, in that the entries must have the same importance to the subject as would be required for the entry to be included in the text of the article according to Wikipedia policies and guidelines (including Wikipedia:Trivia sections)."

The specific edit you made is still totally fine as the material was also unsourced and that is almost always an acceptable reason to delete material so no worries about having to go back to that article and make changes or revert your edit! This is just a friendly note about a policy that has been commonly understood differently by some editors (and I think it was slightly changed at some point to try to make it more clear). DYK for I've Heard the Mermaids Singing edit

On 5 June 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article I've Heard the Mermaids Singing, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the Canadian film I've Heard the Mermaids Singing was the second production screened at 1987 film festivals to have a title taken from T. S. Eliot's poem "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/I've Heard the Mermaids Singing. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, I've Heard the Mermaids Singing), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Love for Sale FAC edit

Hi. I saw your name in my edit watchlist (Gaucho) and wanted to ask if you could comment on or review my FAC for Love for Sale (Bilal album). It is a not a long article, but the review has become a sprawling mess with ambiguous or reluctant takes on the sourcing in particular, and no new comments have been made in a week or so. So any thoughts would be welcome. Thank you. isento (talk) 20:22, 13 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

  • Greetings, isento. Thank you for the invitation to participate in the FAC discussion. I'm flattered that you think I might have something to add to the discussion, but I intentionally do not get involved in those kinds of WP activities. Best wishes for your campaign, however. It's an interesting article. NOLA1982 (talk) 17:44, 14 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Autopatrolled granted edit

Hi NOLA1982, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the autopatrolled right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. However, you should consider adding relevant wikiproject talk-page templates, stub-tags and categories to new articles that you create if you aren't already in the habit of doing so, since your articles will no longer be systematically checked by other editors (User:Evad37/rater and User:SD0001/StubSorter.js are useful scripts which can help). Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! Schwede66 22:14, 17 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

A belated thank you, Schwede66. NOLA1982 (talk) 02:32, 12 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Matthew Shepard Article Sourcing edit

Hey, just want to explain my motivation for those citation edits on the Matthew Shepard article. The author of that source is a notable anti-LGBT journalist, so I worry that it might have excessive bias. Would it work better if I found another source with the same information? ChekhovsGunman (talk) 18:19, 10 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

When I undid your @ChekhovsGunman original edits, it was based on comparing your edit summary with the article content and edit history. At that time, I skimmed The Guardian article but had not read the entire work. And I had no previous knowledge about the author of The Guardian piece. Since then, I have read both. I don't claim to be an expert on this topic, but I did once made a public presentation about it, which required a fair amount of research. In my humble opinion, The Guardian article is not an opinion piece and the facts presented mesh with almost everything I have read about the case. The author appears to be controversial because of comments she has made about transgender issues in general and because she did not disagree with conclusions in the controversial book The Book of Matt by Jimenez. The Shepard article has a section about that book, with refs in support of both sides of the controversy. If you want to add additional references to support the claims, that would fit with the WP policy of Wikipedia:Neutral point of view.
That said, I try to stay out of discussions about WP controversies. If you want other opinions about this particular article, you should post your query to the Shepard article talk page. Thanks. NOLA1982 (talk) 02:52, 12 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello again and Judith Hill edit

Hi. I just deleted "harp" from the "instruments" field on Judith Hill -- I can't find a reference. (I have been following her since Michael Jackson died and have never seen her with a harp!) Please revert if I am mistaken. Thanks and hope you are well! Julie JSFarman (talk) 18:33, 15 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thank you, Julie. I don't have a problem with your edit. I don't claim to be an expert on Hill, but harp does seem a bit far-fetched. If you can't find a ref, I believe you. Be well! NOLA1982 (talk) 21:31, 15 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

PJ Hirabayashi edit

hi NOLA1982, I see you've deleted the Further Reading section for PJ Hirabayashi because the book listed is used as a source for citations. The article in the book has much much more than the wiki page on this musician and is an excellent source for finding out more. It does also verify much of the info in the page that was not cited. Please return the Further Reading section. I don't want to undo what you have done, but rather want to point interested persons to an excellent source on Hirabayashi. Thank you, Surefirebrand

Greetings, Surefirebrand. Thank you for discussing rather than reverting on this topic. I don't necessarily agree with you in this case, because the WP:Further reading documentation states "In articles with very many footnotes, it may not be obvious which references are suitable for further reading, and such entries may be selectively duplicated in Further reading". At this time, the PJ article has only 11 citations and the book is ref number 1. But I won't edit war with you over this, so feel free to undo my prior actions if you wish. Thanks. NOLA1982 (talk) 17:00, 21 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
IMHO, what would be terrific for the quality of the article is for you to add inline refs from the book to the claims in the article that are not currently supported with a WP:RS. NOLA1982 (talk) 17:04, 21 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
