August Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: To-Do List The Esperanza To-Do List is a place where you may list any request, big or small, for assistance. If you need help with archiving your usertalk, for example, all you need to do is list it here and somebody will help you out. Likewise, if you need help with some area of editing on Wikipedia, list it here! Again, any matter, trivial or not, can be placed on this page. However, all matters listed on this page must not be of an argumentative nature. You do not need to be a member of Esperanza (or this program) to place or fulfill requests on this page. If you don't have any requests, consider coming by and fulfilling a few! This program has not been very active, but has lots of potential! What's New? In order to help proposed programs become specific enough to make into full-fledged programs, the In development section of the proposals page has been created. Proposals that are promising, but need to be organized in more detail are listed here. Please take a look at what is there, and help the proposals turn into programs. To improve both the layout and text of the front page, in an attempt to clarify the image of Esperanza, the front page is going to have some redesigning take place. Two small pieces of charter reform will be decided on in a straw poll at Wikipedia talk:Esperanza/Governance. One involves filling the position of any councillors who may leave, the other involves reforming the charter. Edits to EG White

Thanks for your welcoming message - but I did not quite understand it. I see that you removed my attempt to place the discussion about criticisms and responses in a less dichotomous context, and your note suggests I more closely observe NPOV, but I would appreciate understanding what aspects of my comment you saw as POV. I gladly submit to the better wisdom of the group on how to communicate this, but I think it is important to include in the article the fact that there is a variety of views of EGW and her visions both within the SDA membership and within the academic community. As currently written the article gives the impressions that all members who value EGW reject all criticisms, which is simply inaccurate.

I apologize if I did not sign my comments on the discussion page for EGW - I thought that I had.

Also, I think you should add the reference to *The White Lie* to the footnotes. Gogh 18:22, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your response. I have not yet mastered the finer points of wiki editing. I noted that I had not properly referenced my contribution in my discussion post and provided the reference information hoping someone else could do it before I figured out how.

I note now that someone has reverted my edit, and the EGW article again has the Rea book coming before the Numbers book. This is clearly an error. Whoever reverted this did not explain the action, so I don't understand why they did it. A-League Newsletter II, 2006

WikiProject A-League Newsletter Issue II – September 2006
Current Player project status 10% complete
A-League News The 2006-07 A-League season is now two rounds old, with the early front-runners being Queensland Roar and Melbourne Victory. Adelaide United won the Pre-Season Cup, defeating Central Coast Mariners 5-4 on penalties. Project News The Player project has been moved, overhauled and refined. It now is not limited to the 2005-06 player list. However, only 10% of articles are considered "complete", and hopefully we can get this figure to approach 100% by the end of the season. Major changes to the layout of the 2006-07 A-League season page have taken place recently, and an infobox created. A table for attendances, as well as top scorer etc. are now in place. All users are encouraged to update the scores for completed matches as they come in. Recently, Perth Glory F.C. was moved to Perth Glory FC after no objections were raised at the Wikiproject talk page. All links to the old page (including various templates) were changed. The project requires pictures of games and stadiums to help improve articles. Any pictures are much appreciated. The A-League Portal has been set up. Feel free to update the scores, and make sure you check out the selected article and picture each fortnight. The football (soccer) barnstar has recently became the official award of the Wikiproject. Feel free to hand it out to anyone you see making excellent contributions to all things A-League related. Program Feature: Barnstar Brigade Here in Wikipedia there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go unappreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go unnoticed. As Esperanzians we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. This is where the Barnstar Brigade comes in. The object of this program is to seek out the people which deserve a Barnstar, and help them feel appreciated. With your help, we can recognize more dedicated editors! What's New? September elections are upon us! Anyone wishing to be a part of the Advisory Council may list themselves as a candidate from 18 September until 24 September, with the voting taking place from 25 September to 30 September. Program Feature: Admin Coaching (needs coaches!) Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach. Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins. What's New? The Tutorial Drive is a new Esperanza program! In an effort to make complicated processes on Wikipedia easier for everyone, Esperanza working to create and compile a list of tutorials about processes here on Wikipedia. Consider writing one! I am posting this at a couple other pages. I have to be careful and not break the WP:3RR on Seventh-day Adventist Church‎ because of some biased edits. I would like to ask a few of you to help monitor it. I've basically been following protocol of other pages I edit. The editors will not allow links unless they lend value to the article and I am sticking to this with the Adventist article as well. There is a current discussion, however two editors feel compelled to usurp the consensus and stick in their edits. If you wish to weigh in and keep control, I welcome it. I have been proven right!

I remember you not believing my testimony that the Creation Seventh Day Adventist Church is a hoax. You should then find this interesting: It appears that the Creation Seventh Day Adventist Church has admitted in court to only having three members. See Case 1:06-cv-01207-JDB Document 70 Filed 06/11/2008 page 3. Doesn't that prove the central thesis in Walter McGill and the Creation Seventh Day Adventist Church Hoax is true and therefore that Creation Seventh Day Adventist Church is not notable and therefore should be deleted? --e.Shubee (talk) 22:08, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

I have denied the unblock request. If you are interested in getting him unblocked, by all means, start a dialogue on his talk page. However, I highly doubt any admin would ever unblock a person based on a third-party's view. At the very least, if he is interested in not playing around, he can request an unblock. You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. Hello, MyNameIsNotBob. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
