New Jersey and New York succession boxes edit

Hey Mitch,

Love the new succession boxes, but I noted that they're, well, backwards. That is, the stations that appear on the left of the boxes appear on the right of the corresponding PVL boxes. Note Park Ridge (NJT station), where Montvale is on the left side of the PVL succession box, but on the right of the NJ&NY one. That may confuse readers, and they should be aligned for clarity. I'll help, but I don't want to screw up the succession templates. oknazevad (talk) 00:44, 27 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Union (NJT station)'s former line edit

NYC Meetup: Saturday, December 4 edit

We meet outside by the trees at 5:00 PM.

Our next Wikipedia NYC Meetup is this weekend on Saturday Dec 4 at Brooklyn Museum during their awesome First Saturdays program, starting at 5 PM.

A particular highlight for the wiki crowd will be 'Seductive Subversion: Women Pop Artists, 1958–1968', and the accompanying "WikiPop" project, with specially-created Wikipedia articles on the artists displayed on iPads in the gallery.

This will be a museum touring and partying meetup, so no excuses about being a shy newbie this time. Bring a friend too!

You can add or remove your name from the New York City Meetups invite list at Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC/Invite list.

To keep up-to-date on local events, you can also join our mailing list.

Other New Jersey RR Info edit

I don't know if you know about any other stations in New Jersey, but I have to ask about stations like Ocean City 34th Street Station and Ocean City Tenth Street Station; Are those old Pennsylvania-Reading Seashore Lines stations? And what about some of the other former stations that currently have no companies connected, like Long-A-Coming Depot, North Pemberton Railroad Station, etcetera? ----DanTD (talk) 01:30, 4 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sorry edit

Since the review page does not exist, I didn't know that you could "watch" it before it is created. I routinely send talk page messages at the start and a congratulations at the end. I look forward to working with you. Racepacket (talk) 06:40, 4 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Tiorati Brook Road edit

Like Seven Lakes Drive, Arden Valley Road and Lake Welch Parkway, Tiorati Brook Road officially qualifies as a parkway. It's entirley within Harriman State Park, it has a Palisades Interstate Park Commission shield, which clearly indicates that it's maintained by PIPC, and forbids trucks. Of course, you know better than to simply take my word for it. Take a look at the picture below.

Hardcore evidence that Tiorati Brook Road is considered a Parkway.

Featured Sound Candidates discussion edit

You are invited to comment at this discussion to see if we can tidy up the FSC page before Christmas (and / or one or more of the nominations). Thank you. BencherliteTalk 19:13, 17 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks - but when you said "No consensus on Patriotic Song", did you mean "close as no-consensus" or "keep upon until there is consensus"? If you could clarify, that would be useful. Thanks again... BencherliteTalk 21:53, 17 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
And Wikipedia:Featured sound candidates/Sergei Rachmaninoff, which you agreed could be promoted, now has an extra oppose. Can you take a look? Thanks, BencherliteTalk 01:33, 18 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Third sub-list of Suffolk County Roads edit

If you want to add small infoboxes to specific chapters of the List of county routes in Suffolk County, New York (51–75), then you should do that... or I'll do it, although I've noticed some problems with them such as the inability to make accurate year spans. The rest of that info is perfectly justified. ----DanTD (talk) 00:26, 19 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

I'd like to remind you of something else; The Rockand County lists, the very model for the lists I've been writing contains titles for some roads as being "Decommissioned"(Example; List of county routes in Rockland County, New York (41–75)). Therefore the roads that are listed as "Decommissioned," "Unsigned," and "Unbuilt" are worth keeping as well. ----DanTD (talk) 00:59, 19 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Do you mind giving my references a once over like you did on the 401 FAC? I'm just trying to clean it up as much as I can before I ship it off to FAC.

Oh and sorry about the FfD notices... --Admrboltz (talk) 04:27, 20 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Turnpike edit

The problem is, Rt 100 and 300 are not the "Turnpike before it was tolled". They were never built and the current Turnpike is not identical to the original proposals. More importantly, the Turnpike has never carried the Rt 100 or 300 designations. It's Route 700. That's why the succession boxes are potentially confusing, and why I removed them. oknazevad (talk) 20:34, 24 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Upper Montclair NJT Station image edit

I'm thinking of submitting File:UpperMontclair Stationremains.JPG to the commons before New Years Day 2011, and I know you're using it for your proposed List of stations on the New York & Greenwood Lake Line. Would you mind if I switched that image with the commons one once it's uploaded, or do you want to do that? ----DanTD (talk) 21:35, 24 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Another DL&W Station question edit

What references do you have for the article on the former Lackawanna Terminal in Buffalo that's now the NFTA Rail Maintenance Yard? None of the Railfan sites are giving me anything, and I want to get those damn tags off without the risk of engaging in another edit war. ----DanTD (talk) 23:52, 26 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Template:Erie stations edit

Hi Mitch,

The reason I changed the default tag on the template with this edit is because it bypasses a lot of redirects on the Bergen County Line and Montclair-Boonton Line. (Since most Erie Railroad bluelinked stations are now part of NJT) I have been manually adding stations with the "(Erie Railroad station)" suffix that are linked from another station (i.e. [1]). Thoughts? →GƒoleyFour← 04:59, 27 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Archived discussion edit

I have no problem with you archiving the discussion, it didn't go anywhere indeed, but I don't see how arguing would end up at ANI. Despite what you claim, I have no problem considering other opinions, contrary to DanTD and some others, and you can see this at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Trains#Sacramento RT Station Naming Revisited where we are getting somewhere, with many possibilities, but where it is DanTD who refuses to consider any possibilities except what he prefers. If you close a discussion with discussion of who did what wrong, some acknowledgment that DanTD has made strong claims again and again, without once backing them up after this was requested would have been more accurate than the current summary you provided. But anyway, I am done with the NYT discussion which I never wanted in the first place. Fram (talk) 15:37, 14 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Allright: as I said, I'll leave the NYT discussion alone, and stick to the WPTrain one, which seems to be making progress. I obviously don't completely agree with your reading of the discussion, but I do recognise that you weren't trying just to shoo me away or anything, but to be fair. Thanks! Fram (talk) 15:49, 14 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Another station to consider renaming edit

As I mentioned on Fram's talk page, I've been debating renaming Belle Mead (RDG station), which as you know is an ex-Reading Railroad station(hence the name) that New Jersey Transit wants to reopen for the West Trenton line. Right now, the current name, which has the reporting mark in suffix looks a little cumbersome. So should I spell the name out until NJT reopens it, or just leave it as is until that point? ----DanTD (talk) 16:36, 14 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

So sending it back to a New Jersey Transit station is the best course? Okay, I'll do it this afternoon since I have other affairs to take care of. For the record User:Clburton created a duplicate article with that name and I redirected it to the Reading station article. I hope that won't cause any problems when I get the name back, as duplicates tend to do. ----DanTD (talk)

Maybe? edit

I saw you work with road articles. I thought you would maybe be interested in getting California State Route 125 to GA maybe or atleast in good shape. It is an important to modern day Chula Vista and im trying to expand Chula Vista coverage for its centennial this year but some things i dont know much about like roads. Its ok if you dont want to work on it or interested. Spongie555 (talk) 04:09, 23 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

WikiCup 2011 January newsletter edit

We are half way through round one of the WikiCup. Signups are now closed, and we have 129 listed competitors, 64 of whom will make it to round two. Congratulations to   The Bushranger (submissions), who, at the time of writing, has a comfortable lead with 228 points, followed by   Hurricanehink (submissions), with 144 points. Four others have over 100 points. Congratulations also go to   Yellow Evan (submissions), who scored the first points in the competition, claiming for Talk:Hurricane King/GA1,   Miyagawa (submissions), who scored the first non-review points in the competition, claiming for Dognapping, and   Jarry1250 (submissions) who was the first in the competition to use our new "multiplier" mechanic (explanation), claiming for Grigory Potemkin, a subject covered on numerous Wikipedias. Thanks must also go to Jarry1250 for dealing with all bot work- without you, the competition wouldn't be happening!

A running total of claims can be seen here. However, numerous competitors are yet to score at all- please remember to submit content soon after it is promoted, so that the judges are able to review entries. The number of points that will be needed to reach round two is not clear- everyone needs to get their entries in now to guarantee their places! If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages, or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start receiving or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Erie RR Main Line station list edit

Where are you getting your info on all the stations along the Erie Railroad Main Line? Because for a moment I redirected one of your redlinks to Englewood Station (Chicago), and I can't return it back to a redlink. Something about it just doesn't seem right. In the meantime I found a map, although I don't know if it'll be useful to you or not. See for yourself. ----DanTD (talk) 04:29, 13 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Ehh, sorry that the map wasn't good enough. I just got a CSD A3 notice for Speedy Deletion of the blank page, despite the fact that the link was your creation. I hope this won't hinder your ability to create the page as you originally intended. ----DanTD (talk) 12:21, 13 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
If you're still interested, talk to User:Lavalamp from Mars. I left a message on his talk page, but he reverted it back to Englewood Station (Chicago). ----DanTD (talk) 16:48, 13 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
