I have been involved in New Zealand’s visual art scene most of my life and are familiar or friends with many of its key members.

When I am editing Wikimedia pages or contributing to Wikimedia Commons I am very aware of the accepted practices around conflicts of interest and neutrality. I will not make edits that I do not believe are in accordance with that Wikimedia Foundation projects practices and procedures. As a result I will not make substantive edits to articles related to any specific project I have work on or artists with whom I have a close current personal connection an all my contributions will be made with these boundaries in mind.

I have sent you a note about a page you started

Hello, Manymanydogs. Thank you for creating Teststrip. User:Netherzone, while examining this page as a part of our page curation process, had the following comments:

Thanks for creating the article. It can be improved by removing the section on selected exhibitions, then re-adding some of the content in prose form (I'd suggest choosing 3 to 5 of the most prestigious shows) and adding references for each these. Otherwise it is too CV or resume-like. Cheers!

Micrograph edit

Hello, I was just looking over the Teststrip gallery article, and am wondering what a "Micrograph" is within this topic. I'm familiar with the term as described in this link: Micrograph, having to do with micro-photography in the scientific sense, but not in terms of publishing. (Unless it is another word for microfiche, in which case it would be useful to wikilink to that article.) Also, wondering why it is capitalized in the article. Best regards, Netherzone (talk) 13:33, 17 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi, It was an invented word by the group for the publications, hence the capitallization. They were very small publications so I figure it's mashing Monograph with Micro size. And thanks again for your interest. Manymanydogs (talk) 01:55, 18 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hi, is there a citation for that neologism? I think it needs to be explained to the readership along with a source for clarity. Netherzone (talk) 02:19, 18 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Yes, fair enough. I'm out of my country and away from my primary source material for a month or so, but will deal to it when I get back. Manymanydogs (talk) 02:26, 18 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Sounds good. Enjoy your travels! Netherzone (talk) 02:29, 18 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hi there, Have made a few changes to the Publication section as per your thought's. On reading the Hyland piece cited the Micrograph issue is pretty well covered. Thanks again for your interest in this. Cheers, Jim Manymanydogs (talk) 09:09, 13 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Can you help me out. I changed the exhibition section to include some of the exhibitions in the deleted list. When I cut and pasted into Wiki the font was different to the regular Wiki font. cheers, Jim Manymanydogs (talk) 01:42, 25 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Gambia Castle edit

It looks like you created this with a lower case 'c' by mistake. I've moved it to Gambia Castle and fixed the links to it.-gadfium 22:48, 31 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Oh, thanks so much for that, appreciated. Manymanydogs (talk) 00:12, 1 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hi there, I notice when I look up Gambia Castle on Google it gives a link to the Gambia castle with a small c and then Wiki says there is no such page. Do you have the skills to redirect the small c site or correct this? I know I don't! Cheers, Manymanydogs (talk) 01:34, 2 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
I had hoped to avoid having the redirect as Wikipedia search is quite capable of dealing with incorrect capitalisation. Google will eventually catch up to the new name, but I've put Gambia castle in as a redirect anyway.-gadfium 03:21, 2 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
It's done. Thanks for that, I didn't realise Google had the ability to do that, an inner distrust of them I guess. Thanks again. Manymanydogs (talk) 05:55, 2 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Ways to improve Michael Lett (gallery) edit

Hello, Manymanydogs,

Thank you for creating Michael Lett (gallery).

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

Hi Manymanydogs, nice work on your new article. In my opinion, it could be improved with additional categories and by being added to appropriate Wikiprojects. An infobox would also be useful. I have a concern about some of the references - e.g., the current reference 1 is unclear as to the source; reference 2 should probably have a hyperlink available? All in all, though, good job!

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Bastun}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Thanks so much for your comments which I will attend to. I am still fairly new at all this and need and apreiciate the help! Manymanydogs (talk) 22:31, 18 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for all your work edit

I've noticed all the mahi you've been doing on New Zealand artists, and it's much appreciated. Particularly welcome is where you've been able to donate one of your own photos to Commons, to fix the (sadly common) situation where there's no openly licensed image of a significant artist. I'm happy to draw other NZ Wikipedians' attention to your articles so they can help with infoboxes, categories, references and other such technical stuff. It would also be good when you're significantly expanded an article for us to feature it in the Did You Know section of Wikipedia's main page for 24 hours, and we have people who can help make that happen. We can also help with arranging small Fair Use images of particular artworks, such as the Urewera Mural featured in Colin McCahon's article. Again, thank you for your valuable contributions, and if you have any questions or problems feel free to get in touch. —Giantflightlessbirds (talk) 02:34, 14 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi there and thanks for your kind comments. I'm still finding my way around Wiki and only use the visual editor so any help is very warmly received. I sort of messed up a bit on the Hotere pic but having him represented as such a wasted figure was a bit unfair - they often do it to McCahon too, but as you say it is hard to get images unless you have taken them yourself. Again thanks for looking out for me. cheers, Manymanydogs (talk) 06:57, 14 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Manymanydogs. Thank you for your work on Michael Illingworth. Bastun, while examining this page as a part of our page curation process, had the following comments:

Hi Manymanydogs, nice work on your new article. Although they're not necessary, you might consider adding an infobox. Good job!

Thanks for that. I'm afraid I'm rather new here and only use the visual editor. So far I have not been able to work out how to make an info box without using code. Have to say code is a bit beyond me at this stage. cheers, mmd Manymanydogs (talk) 19:38, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
