Special enforcement measures apply to blockchain and cryptocurrency related content edit

  Hello, LaMoille123. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you.

Please read this notice carefully.

You are receiving this notice because you recently edited one or more pages relating to blockchain or cryptocurrencies topics. You have not done anything wrong. We just want to alert you that "general" sanctions are authorized for certain types of edits to those pages.

A community decision has authorized the use of general sanctions for pages related to blockchain and cryptocurrencies. The details of these sanctions are described here. All pages that are broadly related to these topics are subject to a one revert per twenty-four hours restriction, as described here.

General sanctions is a system of conduct regulation designed to minimise disruption in controversial topic areas. This means uninvolved administrators can impose sanctions for edits relating to these topics that do not adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, our standards of behaviour, or relevant policies. Administrators may impose sanctions such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks. An editor can only be sanctioned after the editor has been made aware that general sanctions are in effect. It is only effective if it is logged here. Before continuing to edit pages in these topic areas, please familiarise yourself with the general sanctions system. Don't hesitate to contact me or another editor if you have any questions.

You are required to strictly adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, and the letter and spirit of the conflict of interest guideline. You are also required to cite reliable sources to support blockchain or cryptocurrency content you add. Cryptocurrency enthusiast websites, social media and the company's own website are not reliable sources. MER-C 10:56, 9 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of ALQO edit

The article ALQO has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable, no independent sources

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Speedy deletion nomination of ALQO edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on ALQO, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Editing privileges terminated for suspect covert advertising and meatpuppetry edit

To enforce community authorised sanctions,

you have been blocked from editing for 1 year. You are welcome to make useful contributions once the block expires; however, please note that the repetition of similar behavior may result in a longer block. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}. However, you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

Reminder to administrators: Community sanctions are enacted by community consensus. In order to overturn this block, you must either receive the approval of the blocking administrator or consensus at a community noticeboard (you may need to copy and paste their statement to a community noticeboard).

The following sanction has been imposed on you:

Indefinite topic ban from blockchain and cryptocurrencies, broadly construed.

You have been sanctioned for creating ALQO, a poorly sourced and promotional article.

This sanction is imposed in my capacity as an uninvolved administrator as authorised by the community's decision at WP:GS/Crypto, and the procedure described by the general sanctions guidelines. This sanction has been recorded in the log of sanctions for that decision. If the sanction includes a ban, please read the banning policy to ensure you understand what this means. If you do not comply with this sanction, you may be blocked for an extended period, by way of enforcement of this sanction—and you may also be made subject to further sanctions.

You may appeal this sanction at the administrators' noticeboard. You may also appeal directly to me (on my talk page), before or instead of appealing to the noticeboard. Even if you appeal this sanction, you remain bound by it until you are notified by an uninvolved administrator that the appeal has been successful. You are also free to contact me on my talk page if anything of the above is unclear to you. MER-C 19:50, 5 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

Hello. I notice in addition to the article having been deleted, my sandbox page has also been deleted. Can I please get access to the content somehow? I understand it will not likely ever be acceptable for Wikipedia but I'd still like to have the information. Please let me know how I can get it, thanks.LaMoille123 (talk) 23:25, 28 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

This is not an unblock request. Please read WP:GAB to understand how to craft an acceptable unblock request. Yamla (talk) 23:59, 28 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Requesting deleted content edit

@MER-C: hello. Could I please get back the content I submitted for the ALQO article (or at least what was in my sandbox)? I understand it cannot be used on Wikipedia but I'd like to keep the information for myself, thanks. LaMoille123 (talk) 20:21, 2 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

@RHaworth: as the deleting admin, I'd like to bring you in on this request as well, thanks. LaMoille123 (talk) 17:00, 3 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Please enable email in your preferences so that the content can be provided privately. MER-C 17:18, 3 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • I've emailed you the content of the sandbox. Hut 8.5 21:31, 7 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Unblock Request edit

Request reason:

I'm requesting to be unblocked because I have a decent history of editing on Wikipedia prior to the recent article I created. While I won't defend that article, my intentions were not nefarious and I vow to completely avoid editing articles on that entire topic if I am unblocked. I enjoyed editing/creating on Wikipedia when I was more active in years' past and I would really appreciate the opportunity to do so again in the future. Thanks. Unblock discussion July 2019 edit

  • It looks like you've agreed to no more ALQO.
  • Indefinite topic ban from blockchain and cryptocurrencies, broadly construed.
  • No more WP:PAID/WP:COI editing.
  • I would add that all new article creations shall be via WP:AfC for 6 months.
  • Looks like it's not up to me. @MER-C: This looks like community sanctions. Am I able to offer unblock under these or other terms? Should I decline and say "see you next year"?
  • Have I missed anything?  Dlohcierekim (talk) 18:21, 3 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
That's mostly it.
  • The topic ban I imposed stays.
  • The suspicion of UPE is, from my recollection, taking four years off then writing a highly promotional article about a cryptocurrency.
  • Paid editing, failure to disclose COI or WP:UPE in this topic is a very big deal due to the potential for securities fraud. One article is enough to destroy trust completely in an editor (generally, not necessarily you). UPE in this area I feel should be grounds for a permanent Office ban.
  • Dlohcierekim: Yes, this is a community sanctions block and you need to ask me first. I'll leave it to your judgement. (If I had refused, the block appeal goes to WP:AN. I waive that provision.) MER-C 18:48, 3 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • Taking note of MER-C's reply, I will probably present this request at WP:AN. I'm rusty. It'll take me a while to compose and I'm also dealing w/ real life. LaMoille123, please add anything else I should carry over. In the interim, any other admin may accept or decline this appeal as they see fit.  Dlohcierekim (talk) 20:31, 3 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
User_talk:LaMoille123, please ping me if you agree to terms as set forth and will be available to answer questions and concerns posed during the appeal at WP:ANDlohcierekim (talk) 02:50, 4 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
For what it's worth, I was not compensated for the article and was never going to be. In any case, is my only option to go through this AN process? I'd rather not have an online trial to get my wiki account unblocked. It seems pretty simple, if I touch a crypto article ever again, ban me and don't look back. If I've got wait till "next year" as sort of a cool-down period and then resume editing, I guess I'd prefer that. LaMoille123 (talk) 20:27, 1 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
