School Hard made easy

I thank you immensely for your attention brought to this matter. I'm still new around here in regards to editing and I'm still learning about procedure and guidelines. After tossing the ball around with A Man in Black a little, it quickly became apparent that a brick wall is easier to reason with. He made valid points but they all seemed to come from some "Because I decree it so!" mentality and his outright deletion of content without any kind of discussion seemed beyond wrong. I gave up for a moment because I just don't have the time right now to go through my entire Buffy/Angel DVD collection to find the necessary commentary. I'm glad this came to your attention and thank you for your suggestion as well as any future advice you might have. It comes as no surprise that the integrity of a Scorpio wouldn't let something like this stand. -"Heroes don't accept the way the world is." If you are not the disgruntled fan, then that user is. The page you are pulling the information from is a User subpage, not an article. You are simply repeating the information expounded by another user with nothing to back it up on. Unfortunately, I'm really not the person to be asking about this. I deal in film and television, I don't know anything really about music related articles. From the looks of it, I think you'll need more "significant coverage", but I'm not the authority on the subject. What I would do is consult the editors at Wikipedia talk:Notability (music) and Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Music, as they will know what you need to do in order to get that proposed page up to acceptable standards. Hello, I work with Bignole. I think I can help you with one article that I found in a subscription-only database. Not sure if you'll be able to find it online. Here are the relevant parts of the article:

After playing three dates last year, the Marlborough ska band joins up for six more this summer, including a stop Aug. 2 in Pittsfield, Mass. "I understand why a lot of bands wouldn't want to be on it. It's very, very commercialized," says Nicole Oliva, 20, who fronts Tip the Van with her 17-year-old sister, Simone. "I just look at it as a good opportunity to get our music out."

That's been the band's chief preoccupation this year. Efforts have included an album, Something Wicked, on the Connecticut ska label Asbestos Records, and a slew of support slots at the Webster Theatre, including one tonight opening for Reel Big Fish. The Olivas, who grew up singing together, started the band five years ago. Tip the Van has rotated through nearly 30 members since then, as high-school level priorities (and band mates' levels of parental support) changed. High school's finished now, though -- Simone just graduated from RHAM High (Nicole studies communications at Eastern Connecticut State University), and the sisters say they've settled on a definitive lineup: Brian Dunnigan on guitar, Matt Levesque on drums, Justin Krips on bass, Anthony Del Vecchio on trumpet and Stephanie Allen on trombone. The Olivas sing and write the songs.

Next up: Seeing how far Tip the Van can go. Although Simone plans to enroll at Manchester Community College this fall, she says she wouldn't mind at all if, say, a busy touring schedule interrupts her class work. "I want the next five to 10 years to be completely saturated with band stuff," she says, perched on the arm of a leather sofa in the family's living room. That's an ambitious goal, but the sisters say they've already written a bunch of new songs -- enough for an EP, maybe, or the first half of a new album. Seeking a major-label record deal isn't out of the question, they say, a cause the band's growing local fan base can only help.

At a recent Hartford show opening for the English Beat, for example, Tip the Van 's enthusiastic supporters in the crowd unveiled a dance they had choreographed to one of the band's songs. Regardless of future prospects, though, playing music with friends and releasing an indie album has been fun. "It's more than I ever could have expected," Nicole says. "As far as going places with it, it's pretty much as far as we can go without compromising our sound."

I have yet to figure out how that works. Usually I just find an example on another article and follow the code, but the only examples I can find for repeat ref tags are on massive articles that do not lend themselves to that kind of strategy. kingdom2 (talk) 02:41, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

Forums

No problem. In the future, you can just delete it and leave them a message on their talk page informing them that article talk pages are not for general discussion and you remove their comments so that others would not come in and think it was ok to continue discussing the show on a personal basis. Just some food for thought in the future. A long time ago I created this template, Template:Becivil, for when talk pages get heated with discussion. I've had experience on the Angel talk page pages, whenever Paul drags me into one of those debates (j/k), and they can get pretty heated at times. I noticed your discussions on AMIB's talk page

It's no use, AMIB cannot be talk into reason, he judges everything with his own perception and imagination, if you look up at the earlier Real Robot and Gundam discussion, you will understand that he does not follow wikipedia's guide nor trying to read anything before he edits. I had provided multiple reliable, verifiable and third party sources to him, all he did is accuse all of them are either not third party, or all trying to market a specific item, or ridiculously ask for sources for the source. Edits wars was made by him and various editors to a point where he would simply abuse his adminship to block others labeling them with 3RR while he himself is also one edit warring, and his edits would be adding tags to sourced sentences asking for sources, redirecting or deleting whole articles with sources stating it is not notable, etc. MythSearcher^talk 07:37, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

Just ignore him, provide enough WP:RS and ask for him to start an AfD if he insist on his own WP:POV. He would simply stop persisting since it seems like that will risk his adminship if someone actually filed a case like that against him with such nonsense POV. Yet make sure you are familiar with WP:V, WP:RS etc. so that you are the one with all the right arguments and he is with his own imagination and false accusations, precisely what I did and what he did in the Real Robot article. He might be of some use in some other times, but I have seen him in various cases having arguments with different people, and whenever he insists on something, he ignores all newer arguments and stick to his WP:POINT on WP:IDONTLIKEIT. Reliable Sources

Kingdom2, I am a professional journalist with a journalism degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I work for a TV news station as a news producer and a Web producer. I know about reliable sources and I do not publish information on Wikipedia unless that information has been confirmed. In regards to the "Dollhouse" Alpha story, I had this information confirmed from one source on Feb. 15 and waited until now to publish it until I got it confirmed from a second source that was willing to go on the record. - weswilson4

This is the response you left on my Wikipedia page:

First of all, in Wikipedia, all your truly epic and amazing skills as a journalist, and make sure you understand this, mean nothing!!! There is no way to verify that you are who you claim to be, and the rules for how you do things in no way are held above Wikipedia's standards. I suggest you read WP:RS for the details on reliable sources. It in no way states that you need x amount of confirmations to add something to an article. You just need one that can be considered "reliable". The reference you added was from an unofficial fansite, who were making a claim with no statements from those involved and no way to back them up. My source was from the actor in question's personal website. Information must be from a source deemed reliable by that page.

I would not recommend leaving a comment like you left me to anyone else ever again. You come off sounding pompous, arrogant, and superior, when in reality you have almost no experience in Wikipedia and clearly have not read the rules regarding how things work. I am the the sounding pompous? Clearly your wikipedia power has gone to your head. I made a segment of what you sent me bold because it's the most important part of what you sent me. You simply took down the link I had and put up another link that by the standards you sent me is "unreliable." If you would bother checking YOUR facts, you would realize that AlanTudyk.net is not the person in question's official web site. A simple Google search yields this:

My point was that it was ridiculous for you to lecture me on Wikipedia's standards and then post a link up that then broke the standards that you just lectured me on. That was the entire point of my last post. And yes, I threw the "Geez teenagers" in to tick you off although I could care less about your age. The whole pompous, arrogant thing was ridiculous to write and took our discussion about reliable sources into the mud. The reason I put up there that I had a degree and where I worked was to show I know what reliable sources are. If I report something with unreliable sources and it turns out not to be true, I can get fired. That's a little worse than getting edited over. Secondly, I was not reporting first-hand information on the page so it was not journalism, but the fact that I am a journalist should assuage fears of me posting unreliable information. Wash's death

How could the Reavers had killed Wash by shooting spikes through the windshield of Serenity when the ship's nose was buried in rubble? I took from the movie that the spikes were debris falling from the crash, not from the Reavers. If the Reavers were chasing Serenity, how did they get to the surface before Serenity and be in just the right place where the ships finishes crashing into to drive numerous spikes through the windshield?
