May 2020 edit

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Mary Margaret Blanchard; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. signed, Rosguill talk 02:37, 13 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 1 week from certain pages (Mary Margaret Blanchard) for edit warring. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  signed, Rosguill talk 02:39, 13 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Marley Rose (Glee) moved to draftspace edit

An article you recently created, Marley Rose (Glee), does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. scope_creepTalk 17:31, 26 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Marley Rose.jpg edit

A tag has been placed on File:Marley Rose.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. I apologize for using unlicensed photographs in my prior drafts. I have remedied this by agreeing only to use licensed photographs in any future drafts or acquiring and affirming licensing status before using the pictures. Your creation of the page Cultural impact of Johnny Depp edit

Discuss this on the talk page of Johnny Depp and gain consensus. The content you branched off is all duplicated there. You will need consensus for this. - CorbieVreccan 21:31, 18 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

I realize that my actions were reckless, and I have no excuse for that. Therefore, I take full accountability for what I did, and I promise you it will never happen again. I don't usually make Wikipedia articles that often and still consider myself to be new at this. Therefore, I am still learning the ropes and am in no way an expert. I only decided to take up this task because I enjoyed the challenge. However, given the chaos that I have caused, I think it best to leave the decision of whether or not I will be allowed to edit articles again in your hands for the safety of the website. If you feel that I am a danger, I will more than oblige with that. However, should you change your minds, I can only give you my word that I will engage with other creators more and get their consent before I create a page and take advantage of the fact that Wikipedia is a collaborative community of users. Hpushkas318 (talk) 01:44, 31 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

And you recreated it without discussion:[1] This is not good. Again, I strongly suggest you discuss this with other editors at the main page and gain consensus. - CorbieVreccan 19:18, 19 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

  Do you want to explain why you're engaging in WP:ICANTHEARYOU and WP:RADAR behavior with this[2]? - CorbieVreccan 17:49, 30 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I apologize for my inability to engage in discourse with other editors. I am not usually a confrontational person and try to avoid conflict. I don't tend to contribute to Wikipedia much, so I'm still learning. However, I will take into consideration the opinions of others before I publish another post and speak with other users about it before doing so. I will seek consent from others and take their opinions into consideration if you decide to lift the block. I understand that my behavior has been disruptive and I am deeply sorry for that. I know that you acted in the way that you did in order to ensure that Wikipedia remains a safe place and to prevent the spread of misinformation. I promise that I will consult with other users in regard to their opinions on what I write, and I will not ignore their opinions.

Decline reason:

The chatbot didn't do you any favors here. This request doesn't address any aspect of why you are blocked. --jpgordon𝄢𝄆𝄐𝄇 04:06, 31 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Administrator note According to the edit count tool, this user has never engaged on a talk page. - CorbieVreccan 18:03, 30 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

My intent to create the page was never done with malice. I had previously created two pages on Wikipedia that were approved and published and hoped to expand my editing skills by tackling a complex topic. I used multiple reliable sources and cited all of them. I intended to discuss the cultural impact of the actor Johnny Depp on our society given that he has remained a topic of conversation that inspired talks about various issues and contributed a lot to the world. Hpushkas318 (talk) 01:35, 31 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
It looks like we're done here, but one thing I'll leave here for the record. If you ever return to Wikipedia, I don't think you should write about Johnny Depp, or anyone else of whom you are such a huge fan. The content you wrote was more appropriate for a fanzine than an encyclopedia. I looked at it and the entire, massive text would have needed to be scrapped and started over. It would have been a lot of work for others. And that would be assuming that the minutia of Depp's career, connections with other celebrities, gushing reviews, etc was even suitable for Wikipedia - which I don't think it is. If you ever return, and since you don't like discussion and collaboration you probably won't, you should not write about celebrities. - CorbieVreccan 20:30, 31 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I have reviewed the reasons that I have been blocked and I understand that my posting was disruptive. After a great deal of deliberation, I have come to understand that this was, indeed, warranted as my actions were reckless, for which I sincerely apologize to everyone on Wikipedia. I have learned from this experience and have grown to understand that this is a collaborative community meant to spread proper, factual information. From now on, I will consult with others before I make any post, fact-check my sources, learn, and grow from this experience.

Decline reason:

I am declining your unblock request because it does not address the reason for your block, or because it is inadequate for other reasons. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that

  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    3. will make useful contributions instead.

Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. Yamla (talk) 20:01, 31 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

I understand that my failure to respond to objections and engage with others was seen as a sign of bad faith. I assure you that I meant no malice. I was diagnosed as being on the autistic spectrum and I tend to do my best to limit myself and my interactions with others. It is not out of malicious intent. It is because I am a shy person, not out of the fault of anyone else. However, I am working to fix that. Now that you've let me know exactly what the problem is, I can assure you that I will do my best to interact with others on the community and take advantage of potential collaborations. I wanted to write about Johnny Depp's impact on culture because he has had an enormous impact on our culture that cannot be denied through his work and I wanted to highlight, through facts, both good and bad, the ups and downs of Depp's impact on our culture and tried my best to provide an unbiased perspective. However, if you feel that it was not enough, I will gladly revise it. Hpushkas318 (talk) 01:58, 31 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
