EADS edit

You have been unable to show that EADS has changed the name of its space subsidiaries. Despite many many requests you have changed correct information to your unsubstantiated information. You are damaging the project, please stop it. Have a look at the EADS websites, NOWHERE does it say there are susidiaries called ASTRIUM Space Transportation or ASTRIUM Satellites. You have also created double redirects. If you move a page, it is up to you to check that there are no double redirects. I am reverting all of these edits and if you change them again without credible sources to back up your changes I will report you for vandalism. Mark83 13:41, 10 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Look at the homepage, look at the EADS Space leaflet from the homepage. You said over a month ago "I am going to talk to EADS so that they remove all these old names and logos from their web site and switch to "ASTRIUM, an EADS company". Give me a couple of weeks and it's done". Well it hasn't been done, perhaps they didn't want to spend a fortune to change their company name/logo to suit you! Mark83 14:09, 10 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • The change is effective since July 1st, 2006. The new logo will be presented in September. EADS personnel is now using the ASTRIUM word in big bold black letters as temporary logo, while waiting for the official announcement of the new logo and corporate identity. I am not a vandal, I am just trying to be accurate. I thought we agreed that the information on the EADS SPACE website is outdated. Hektor 16:28, 10 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
    • Please, please, please be reasonable. We did not agree the website is outdated. I don't doubt your good faith, you obviously believe what you say. However you cannot show me any public source. As EADS are still publicly describing themselves as EADS Space Transportation, EADS Astrium, that is how we must describe them. As a said if and when EADS publicly announce a change I will even help you change article links. It is incorrect at present. Mark83 17:07, 10 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
  • Ok but I can send you a scan of the bank account statement of my Dad and his salary has been paid by "ASTRIUM SAS BU SPACE TRANSPORTATION" Hektor 17:11, 10 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
    • Please don't send complete strangers finanical information belonging to your relatives! That doesn't really prove anything. Being paid by Astrium SAS doesn't prove your father works for a company called "Astrium Satellites" or "Astrium Space Transportation". You are aware that SAS isn't part of the name? It means Société par actions simplifiée (Simplified Joint Stock Company), a type of incorporated company. Mark83 20:16, 10 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Simca Vedette edit

Hi! I have started an article on the venerable lady and I wanted to know whether you would be interested to contribute. The article could really benefit from some attention of a seasoned French editor... Thanks in advance! Bravada, talk - 02:03, 13 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi Hektor, thanks for your edits to the article! I was wondering whether you could provide some sources for the info you added, so that we would have this article properly referenced. I sense GA or FA potential here :D Sorry for the very brief message, just wanted to catch you before you go as I see you're online. Bravada, talk - 12:00, 13 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Source is a rare book Toutes les Simca by René Bellu. Bellu was doing that himself at home in Le Conquet and selling them himself (I sent the check directly to him), so there is not even an ISBN... Hektor 12:04, 13 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Woah! Some really great source then! I bet there's more on the Vedette, so I hope you will continue to contribute. Now I only have to figure out how to quote it in references... :D Bravada, talk - 12:23, 13 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

interwiki edit

Any idea how you came to remove the Romanian-language interwiki in this edit? It had been added on the previous edit; perhaps you somehow weren't editing the latest? Anyway, figured you'd want to know. - Jmabel | Talk 01:24, 17 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • thanks for the heads-up. I obviously didn't do that on purpose, but now I am going to check my similar edits just in case. Hektor 05:20, 17 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Simca stuff edit

Hi Hektor! I just wanted to tell you that I have started a section on talk:Simca to discuss and coordinate efforts regarding all Simca-related articles! Do take a look, and also continue to contribute your great stuff to all those articles that need them so desperately.

We also still need more free pics for the articles! As you have the advantage of speaking French, you might contact all the French Simca onwers/enthusiasts (which I believe are the most numerous) and ask them if they would be so nice to release some pics into public domain. The most urgent issue currently is the Bagheera, as it might be featured on the front page any day, and we still don't have a pic. I am trying to grt one through English-speaking sources, but it is still all up in the air, so I could use reinforcements :D Thanks! Bravada, talk - 06:07, 21 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Anousheh Ansari edit

Hi Hektor. Thanks for all the work you've done on Anousheh's page. I'm curios why you have replaced the image that was posted this morning that came from her company's press release today: http://www.prodeasystems.com/news/ Is there a issue with using an image from a press kit? The press kit image looks much better than what is currently on her page. Thanks. Galleonwik

  • Well there was a fair use tag on the image I have removed and the fair use tags says...

"This work is a copyrighted publicity photograph. It is believed that the use of some such photographs to illustrate:

  • the person(s), product, event, or subject in question
  • "in the absence of a free alternative,
  • etc

And there we are precisely not in the absence of a free alternative, so I reverted to a PD image from NASA. This being said I agree that the other one is better, but well I thought just of the rule of fair use. Hektor 17:02, 25 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

It looks like the photo was added to the page before it was released as part of the press kit; since it is now part of the press kit and publically available, it should qualify under fair use. Looks like this user did the original and later postings: rclavenna

  • For me fair use does not apply since there is a public domain alternative. You can only claim fair use if you cannot find any other image.Hektor 21:22, 25 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Jasmin Grace Rotolo edit

Hector, I removed the image that you added to this page as this was almost certainly copyright violation. For magazine covers, it is not acceptable to use images in the article of the person or persons depicted on the cover, unless used directly in connection with the publication of this image. Such usages will be removed. When uploading images please add a detailed fair use rationale for each use, as described on Wikipedia:Image description page, as well as the source of the work and copyright information. Thanks for all the work just be a bit more careful, Tom 10:18, 26 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • You are always throwing outdated documents at me. Why ? This web site is just too old. You can see from the link I sent you that the company is now named ASTRIUM SPACE TRANSPORTATION in Les Mureaux, that's cristal clear. Can I move the pages now without your starting to revert everything ? Hektor 12:47, 26 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

A16 autoroute edit

Due to an edit conflict the version you were working on (updating links ?) was squashed. Since I have myself updated the link names while I was working on the page (started sometime near 10:00GMT, before you made the updates), I have not checked your edits. Although there should be no issues, I thought I'd update you on the matter. Cheers, Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons 16:36, 28 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

EADS/Astrium edit

I'll not be reverting any changes you make in line with that document. I don't want to be rude, but please do it properly - when I was reverting your edits way back when this discussion first started you changed the intros but very little of the main text.

EADS are insane - changing the name of a company but two or three months later not changing their websites, issuing a press release or making any sort of comment about it! That's why I doubted what you were saying. I don't have access to internal memos! Mark83 22:24, 29 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Spacefacts link on the Anousheh Ansari page edit

Hi Hektor. I was curious what you thought the spacefacts external link added to the Ansari page. It doesn't seem to contain any information that isn't already in the article, and contains some information (such as place of birth) the article seems to disagree with (of course that could be WP not the spacefacts page). Thanks --SiobhanHansa 21:46, 19 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • I think spacefacts is a useful reference, they have good images and most astronaut pages have a link, so why not this one. Anyway I guess the spacefacts guys will put the right data quite soon. The images we have now on the article aren't going to stay for long since they are copyvios. Hektor 21:49, 19 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for responding. Makes sense. Sorry for deleting it the first time. --SiobhanHansa 01:20, 20 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Hey guys, if you look here [2], you can see, that she is born in Tehran. It is a NASA-page, so it might be correct. Greetings -Eastfrisian 18:19, 30 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

edit

As far as I understand it, it's from NASA, and as such is free of copyright. I've put a NASA copyright tag on it detailing as such - I hope that's alright... Colds7ream 19:36, 22 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Italic names in Soyuz missions? edit

Why italicize some of the names on some of the Soyuz missions (TMA-8 for example)?
--3Idiot 10:05, 29 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • Traditionnally here - I don't know who started the tradition - the Expedition crew of a Soyuz are italicized while the people who go for a short stay are not italicized. Hektor 10:54, 29 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

NASA contact edit

Hi Hektor: regarding the Anousheh Ansari image situation, do you have the email address of the person to contact at NASA regarding confirming the copyright of images on their site. I want to try to clear this up once and for all! -- Hux 21:39, 29 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • I wrote to Bert Ulrich whose coordinates are provided at the bottom of this page. Thanks for asking. Hektor 05:56, 30 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Playtime vs Play Time edit

Hang on! At least check the discussion on Talk:Playtime before you uniformly change every occurrence of the title in Wikipedia. I just checked the title card from the film itself, and it reads Play Time. Surely that trumps both IMDB and Tativille for authority? David L Rattigan 12:03, 7 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • The official site has been lovingly done by Tati's nephew. Do you think he does not know the titles of his uncle's movies ?Hektor 12:04, 7 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
Well, I gave you a link to the title card.[3] Not sure how that can be reasonably discounted. David L Rattigan 12:08, 7 October 2006 (UTC)~Reply
Then I give you a link to the Criterion essay [4] Hektor 12:09, 7 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
Sure, but what does that prove? Not trying to win a war here, just wondering how we determine what the original title was, and the title card seems to be an important bit of evidence you're discounting. David L Rattigan 12:12, 7 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
I don't know. I have looked for written documents by Tati himself on the web, but I haven't found any. Hektor 13:53, 7 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
