Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Holla.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading Image:Holla.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 12:33, 8 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sikh Pilgrimage to Pakistan edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Sikh Pilgrimage to Pakistan, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.sikhiwiki.org/index.php/Sikh_Pilgrimage_to_Pakistan. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 19:47, 12 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Cleaning up Hukam edit

The article Hukam, that you originally created has been tagged for cleanup since April of 2006. I would like to get it removed of the cleanup list since it is one of the oldest articles tagged for cleanup. I am reluctant to begin this process since I am unfamiliar with subject, but before I begin I thought I would ask the originator (you) to begin this process since you are likely most familiar with this topic. If you don't want to try cleaning it, I'll take a shot at it.

I believe the main area of focus in cleaning up the article is to create a better, comprehensive intro that anyone can understand, and more organization with the quotation boxes. Please refer to Mikipedia's Manual of Style for specifics.Barkeep Chat | $ 20:06, 4 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image source problem with Image:Arjan11.jpg edit

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Arjan11.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 00:26, 28 April 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Nishkid64 (Make articles, not love) 00:26, 28 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Quotation template, a slight bug edit

Peshwar under Maharaja Ranjit Singh edit

I've left this message on the sikh portal but it doesnt seem to be active, so trying to reach out to some members... Hi, I was going through the article Peshawar, and it portrays Maharaja Ranjit Singh & Sikh rule in very bad light, that he was a tyrannical ruler who broke all mosques & made them gurdwaras, and that the city was plundered/declined under Sikh rule! I was pretty surprised, I also noticed that the article has not been categorized under the list of sikh places, nor has Bala Hisar Fort... so i categorized them as places of importance in sikhhism, and I request any sikh history expert to go through those two articles, I found it pretty biased, it only speaks of the pashtun heritage and ignores the existence of sikh population, as though only the rulers were tyrannical sikhs! perhaps Ranjit Singhji did break down some mosques, but we need some background/justification behind it instead of portraying him as a religious bigot! but I dont have the requisite knowledge to make changes in the article! Also, please re-categorize them under some other category in case mine was not right! Thanks! (guess what, I am from Nairobi, it's such a small world!) Lilaac (talk) 21:48, 22 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Quotation on Daya page edit

Hello. I was going through the page on Daya and noticed that you had inserted a quote for which I am unable to find a reference. One imbued with Daya, you say, "chooses to die himself rather than cause others to die." This you attribute to Guru Nanak, but only leave "GG, 356" as a reference. Every version of that verse in the Sri Guru Granth Sahib I've found has a line that's more like, "He slays his own self, instead of slaying others." I was just wondering where you found the translation that you quote. Thanks very much. Martin.fish (talk) 20:23, 12 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:Sikh Women.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Sikh Women.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 05:30, 27 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Shabad Hazaray edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Shabad Hazaray requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Proposed deletion of Kesgarh Qila edit

The article Kesgarh Qila has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

8 years and no source.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Jasjit Singh (academic) edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Jasjit Singh (academic) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://ahc.leeds.ac.uk/philosophy/staff/127/dr-jasjit-singh. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
