Hi Fv! WP:PHARM is much too quiet, and there are still way too many stubs on drugs and drug classes. There's consensus to merge chem- and drugbox, but no one managed to actually implement this. {{Chembox Drug}} is an attempt that somehow got stuck. Many of the lesser known and not-yet-marketed drugs have chemboxes, and chembox is missing a number of fields; but manually switching to a drugbox is tedious work and also breaks chem/drugbox validation by CheMoBot.

A few new fields have been added to the drugbox, eg. tradename and a number of, well, numbers. A proposal of adding mechanisms to the box is stuck because many drugs have more than one mechanism, and this makes things complicated. Also, there's the newish {{Drugclassbox}} which has been added to a couple of pages, but many are still missing it.

Oh my, how very good it is to see you in here again ! What did you miss? Well, don't know when was the last time you were in here ... so ... I resigned as FAC delegate in Jan 2012 so I could spend more time editing medical articles as I long ago promised Colin I would, then the Education Program made editing medical articles miserable (ill-prepared student editing hitting my watchlist); all the while, FAC was under assault by socks and a returning user breaching CLEANSTART to revisit old grudges so editing there was no fun either, I took most of the spring, summer and fall of 2012 off to relandscape my property and because Wiki was a miserable place to be because of a corp of editors supporting the socks with the arbs and admins doing nothing about it, I came back once winter set in and found Wikipedia far worse than ever (abuse is rampant, socking is the norm, most good reviewers were chased out of FAC after the disruption led by socks for almost a year), after seeing several really bad blocks of good editors, I decided it was worthless and resigned in disgust, then after I resigned another Mattisse sock (she had been stirring the pot again) was blocked, so I was re-invigorated and came back. Embarrassing that business of resigning and then coming back ! So, that's a year from over here ... Ah, yes. I am wary of rangeblocking IPv6 addresses due to the potential for massive collateral damage, but I agree that indef blocks were probably not the best course of action either. The article is protected for several reasons, one of which is edit warring for "genrification", as you put it (which is indeed not vandalism, but it is a content dispute). Culture of India need your advice again

There is an IP claiming book sources were not reliable in a content dispute, which I'm involved in. What to do if he removes sources again and again? On talkpage he vaguely argues around, that North Indian culture didn't evolve by contact of Muslim influences, though the sources clearly state that. Read this section for some excellent advice. There are plenty of avenues for dispute resolution if things escalate to the point where "formal" proceedings are required. (By the way, please note that books are not per se reliable as you note in the Talk page. Many, many factors go into determining whether a source is reliable.) The IP apparently revealed himself as User:Snowcream, because I demanded it here: diff, but he removed the content in question completley: diff. In the edit summary, he says it was a "stupid para". I've gone with him through talkpages with a quite lengthy discussion here: Talk:Culture_of_India We agreed for Dispute resolution here: diff but were then rerouted to:WP:RSN. As IP he opened then a thread at WP:ORN ignoring the admin. I must say, I can't handle this anymore as it's time consuming. I placed sources everywhere he wanted, then he questioned every single source twice and thrice, just to delete everything in the end. I've had a look at the edit history and the cited sources, and I must say I agree with the IP that they do not support the very broad claims that there are "two major subcultural variations within India" and that South Indian culture was "largely independent of foreign influences"—in fact, the source cited for the latter statement seems to directly contradict it, as it notes that "the Dravidian people...were later pushed south" (surely displacement of a population by invaders can be considered a "foreign influence"). Furthermore, the source you cite for the "two major variations" passage (a book with a very specific scope) is not at all appropriate for such a definitive claim. I suggest you seek better sources and a more accurate wording for this passage (perhaps with assistance from a WikiProject) and leave it out entirely until you have consensus. Dravidians being pushed south in the remote past has no relevance as the aim was to show the major differences in modern India, which sees Islam and colonialists as foreign. Consensus was pretty much established earlier with other editors (as these are obvious facts, no sources needed), until the IP came. I will produce a new version with 100% accurate sourcing as you suggested. An ORN editor suggested to cite the text in the sources as a way for better understanding. But I guess if I do just that with the old sources it will be challenged again by fringe groups, for instance the last source states: "South India largely remained a Hindu stronghold" - instead of "is largely not foreign influenced", although it exactly means that.-- Dravidian  Hero  14:58, 6 March 2013 (UTC)

Hmm. The deletion log certainly favors that, but it is a term that has been widely used in reliable sources, however charged and offensive it may be, and it is a plausible search term. WP:RNEUTRAL supports this. We also have precedent, i.e. similar redirects for other historical figures referred to as "Butcher of X", including Saddam Hussein (Butcher of Baghdad) and Reinhard Heydrich (Butcher of Prague). Yes as you wish, choice is yours. Formal discussion is fine. I am more upset as to the abrupt manner into which a several time deleted page suddenly reappeared, particularly looking at every other contribution from the same user. I've long known of the Butcher of Baghdad link and given that this too can never be used favourably and is a term confined to the man's detractors then I would favour a deletion of all related articles. I have never broached the subject before because others are closer to it than I am. Saddam however did not originate from Baghdad, it just happened to be the city from where he ruled. Mahathir Mohamad protection

Extended confirmed protection

Hello, Fvasconcellos. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.

Extended confirmed protection (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned "extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following this community discussion with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.

In July and August 2016, a request for comment established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:

• Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
• A bot will post a notification at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard of each use. MusikBot currently does this by updating a report, which is transcluded onto the noticeboard.
