Good work on War of the Regulation-- it needed it. One minor comment, though-- I notice that you sometimes do a number of small edits in a row on the same article. This can make for a crowded edit history, and makes users who want to look over your edits page back through a bunch of (generally) slow-loading pages. You can avoid this by using the Show Preview button more often, holding off on hitting Save Page 'til you're pretty sure you're done.

Copyrights

You cannot add material to WIkipedia that is copyrighted, if someone has given you permission to add the material, that permission has to be compatible with Wikipedia licencing requirements, most specifically the GNU Free Documentation License. This licence basically requires the author to abandon their copyright. I've tracked down some more info on Long and included it in the article. One minor point - the article mentions he was a store owner in Burlington, but the article on Blind Boy Fuller says he was in Durham. Do you know if the ref to Durham is a mistake, or did Long move to or from there at some point ? My knowledge of the geography of N Carolina is non-existent ! Ghmyrtle 13:43, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

News Cape Lookout Lighthouse Hello WikiProject North Carolina members! A few of us at the The Newsroom Team decided to get together and re-energize the project, through these newsletters. This newsletter is hopefully the first of many to come. We want this project to be active in creating and expanding articles related to our state. If you're a current or former resident of the state, we hope that you will help spread the knowledge of how much there is to learn about North Carolina. A great way to expand new articles is by keeping track of the new articles list. Please add any new NC-related articles or older ones you come across that have not been tagged with the project banner. When you notice an article has been added to the list, read over it and check for citations, grammatical errors, and spelling. If you've written a NC-related article in the past 5 days, read the requirements for Did you know... and add your article to the DYK nomination list. It might be chosen for the Main Page! If you see a new member added to the project list, a great idea would be to leave them a welcome message on their talk page. Show them we notice new members and that we want them to become active participants. Congratulations to the editors who helped promote List of tallest buildings in Charlotte, List of North Carolina hurricanes (1900–1949), List of North Carolina hurricanes (1950–1979), and List of North Carolina birds to featured lists. Let's try to get a few more articles to featured status. North Carolina would be a great (and obvious) choice. Congratulations to the editors of Climate of North Carolina as well. This article was recently promoted to Good article status. A few suggestions for articles we can work on for GA are Raleigh, North Carolina, Charlotte, North Carolina, Greensboro, North Carolina, Geography of North Carolina, and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. If you're a history buff, check out List of Registered Historic Places in North Carolina. There are many articles to be written and your help would be greatly appreciated. Please check my discussion note on the Booker T. Spicely page. I find using Wikipedia simply too complicated, and I don't want to change anything. Thanks for making the changes in the Booker T. Spicely page. To be completely accurate, I'd suggest you say that newspapers make no mention of "racially based arson" in the warehouse fire. There was speculation about arson in one paper, but it was not related to the murder, but rather mentioned an attempt a month before to burn one of the buildings. I am positive about the lack of riot--Durham Herald mentions that both black and white people gathered to watch the fire. The initial reference to arson and riot comes from a Chapter by Tim Tyson in the book on Wilmington riots edited by Cecelski. It is then repeated by Cristina Greene and on the web. Tyson cites a couple of unpublished papers--it's not clear to me whether they are student papers--which may have just jumped to a conclusion--or whether they come from interviews or other original sources. I think the riot part may be a conflation of the 1943 "liquor store" riot with the 1944 murder. I plan to talk with Tyson to try to sort this out. Bob H. Will do... thanks again for your input. I made a few changes... please let me know what you think. Yeah, I was thinking that the "riot" info may have come out what seems to be two or so papers by a Duke student. I'd like to find out more about where she got her information. I wonder if it is local lore, or if just a bad conclusion was drawn?

I don't have much more info than what I posted here on Wikipedia from what I recall; I've done some more research on his military background, but can't find my files right now. Researching Spicely's been on the backburner for awhile now! Evets70 (talk) 18:06, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

I'd be happy to share my materials with you. I think the stuff on Spicely's military background, home town, and Council's death that you've put in is a great contribution. In addition to making sure the historical record is correct, I would really like some notice taken of the 65th anniversary of Spicely's death (July 8, 2009) and perhaps lobby for either a historical marker at Club and Berkeley and/or naming the new Walltown Park recreation center after him. Could we arrange a meeting? I'd be happy to provide my email or phone, but don't know how it works in Wikipedia. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons. In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate. Hey y'all, the April 2021 WikiProject Military History Reviewing Drive begins at 00:01 UTC on April 1, 2021 and runs through 23:59 UTC on April 31, 2021. Points can be earned through reviewing articles on the AutoCheck report, reviewing articles listed at WP:MILHIST/ASSESS, reviewing MILHIST-tagged articles at WP:GAN or WP:FAC, and reviewing articles submitted at WP:MILHIST/ACR. Service awards and barnstars are given for set points thresholds, and the top three finishers will receive further awards.
