Thanks for refering me to the welcome page. It was very helpful (see sarcasm). I shall explain. My page (User:Eclectek) was vandalized by Lucky Panda. You would know this if you were to check the history on User:Eclectek. We were joking with each other. Me/Eclectek/Chad = "real life friend" of Lucky Panda! I left a warning against vandalism on Lucky Panda's discussion page and have since deleted it, as it was all a laughing matter. I'm glad my test worked to prove that you are not ready to be an admin. Chad, I would like to apologize for calling your edits vandalism as that is what they appeared to be. I understand that it was all good fun. I did not realize that you in fact go to Jesuit and are on the yearbook/newspaper staff. If I had looked at your user page and realized who you were (I know who you are) then I wouldn't have bothered leavng you the message and everything,and would have just let you guys sort it out yourselves. Although it was just good fun, vandalizing each other's user pages probably isn't realy the best idea because it could be mistaken as real vandalism. Blocking Jesuit IP

I might be wrong but I think User: Polanco is behind a lot of the vandalism coming from the Jesuit IP. I know he was joking around on my user page, but I still do not appreciate his unconstructive "anonymous" edits. I did not do the vandalism on your user page nor did you do the vandalism on mine as is obvious by what has happened to our pages. UA userbox deletion

I motioned to delete it as per what had been discussed by LuckyPanda and I. Listen, I have no problem with the userbox except that I have some doubts that it will be adopted by UA students. It would have been best to have created this userbox like the Jesuit one. That is, after a group of editors from the school has been established. If you wish to keep it then vote for it to be kept. The good news for you is that I think no consensus or a keep vote will probably be reached on the template as many voted on the false knowledge that it had only been around for a week rather than over a month. Hey I got a reprimand a few minutes ago about Flickr images. First, you need to use {{cc-by-2.0}} instead of {{cc-by-2.5}}, you need to link to the actual image and the user, and on my own request (though I'm going behind and categorizing anyway), add [[Category:Images of Dallas, Texas]] to the bottom so that they'll appear in this category. WHINSEC AND FOREIGN POLICY

IN RESPONSE TO YOUR POSTING WHINSEC

The school is frequently accused -> the school is frequently cited: this creates a more NPOV statement.

SOA was frequently accused but WHINSEC is not. The problem is its an article about WHINSEC and not SOA. The seperation between the two is blured so one would think that an accusation against SOA was also a legitimate accusation against WHINSEC. While you might believe the two schools are the same continuous identity they are not. If you want to be critial of the school be critical of WHINSEC and what its doing now, today, and not some ancient history about something that may or may not happened at SOA decades ago.

"While the SOA was still active over ten congressional investigations took place without any evidence of wrongdoing be uncovered": I've never heard of these investigations. If you can provide citations for this, please re-insert it into the article.

I'll ask about references to this. What would be wrong in stating that even though over 60,000 students attended classes at the school not one can be found to support the false allegations that torture techniques were ever taught. Just for the record WHINSEC has never in its entire existance ever taught interrigation techinques of any kind. Again if this resource is meant to be an up to date resource for topics as they currently stand why is decades old accusations being implicitly procliamed as current truth.

You claimed in your response that I reverted the fact that human rights training was now mandatory. I did not. As the article stands now, it says that 8 hours are required. It states that in the past, only a few took the classes as they were not required.

That's not accurate. A minimum of 8 hours are mandatory training for all students even those who only attend a two week school. The making of it to be a mandatory element was implemented when the training was developed and introduced. I actually sat with the JAG officer in his office and discussed the role and content of that training and how it was being developed.

I reverted the statement that the "quite often the mantadory 8 hours is exceeded" in human rights training. There's no evidence to support this.

Yes there is because the number of hours of mandatory human rights training is included in the course description of each class. OK so if I post those classes and the required element of each course is that satisfactory.

You said "According to a member of the Board of Visitors..." That refers to you and is original research. Original research is not allowed on wikipedia. Find an article to cite.

Why? If I write and article and get it published would you accept that. Can I post a resume somewhere which makes me a reliable witness to actual training I've personally observed and participated in. The article is only as good as its sources, writers, and the publication. You accept hearsay from SOA Watch but not first hand personal testimony from a reliable source who not only observed it but was actually participating in it. Can I introduce myself as a BOV member and testify as to what I've seen and heard?

I summarized your discussion of the invitation to visit the school to "At the SOAW vigil in November 2006, invitations were given to the public to visit the school." I'd like to see this expanded to something that explains the process of visiting, what visitors see, who they speak with, etc.

OK. I will also list the number of people who took up the invitation. Is there anyway to have a downloadable pamphlet about that process availabe on the website? The process is as simple as calling the school's number and making arrangements to come to the school. At the protest they circulate flyers and make open invitations to thsoe attending. Last year I asked SOA Watch to extend the invitation to all those they were encouraging people to come and protest and particulars. Funny though, I don't think they said anything about it.

You had speculated that students not electing to take human rights classes in the SOA may be reason that training is mandatory in WHINSEC. Wikipedia is not open to this kind of speculation, so I removed it.

I did no such speculation. The training was never available or even created until after SOA was closed. How could one not elect to take something which wasn't available?

You completely removed the section on the training manuals that advocated inhumane treatment. These documents are proven to have existed by amnesty international and the washington post. That paragraph was even cited correctly. That kind of reverting cannot be tolerated.

And what year was that and just how is that related to WHINSEC? The documents are proven to have existed. Yes. However, the documents were never reviewed nor approved by SOA and came as part of a suggested additional reading list from another school. The documents were never used as part of the SOA training ciriculum. As soon as they were brought to their attending they removed them from the additional reading list. Are these facts being made clear by the entry. Or is the suggestion that the materials were actually being used as instructional material in the classroom and wait a minute, that's about SOA, what does that have to do with WHINSEC. WHINSEC has never taught any interrogation techinques in its history and has translated every publication it uses into English and reviews each one for any possible objectionable material. Say, can this fact be included in the article?

I changed your sentance from "Each year a number of protestors are arrested for purposely violating the law and forcing their arrest in an attempt to create more anger against the school." to "Each year a number of protestors are arrested and prosecuted for acts of civil disobediance including trespassing onto federal property in an apptempt to create more awareness for the SOAW." This sentance attempts to eliminate bias.

Finally, something we can both agree on. Yes, your right it was biased. I just wish you were that careful about the rest of the article which is so very biased against the school for a lot of the same reasons.

You wrote "It is now also reported that some college professors give students credit for attending the protest." Provide citations or this cannot stay.

Again I could list the college and the professor but unless its printed up in an article somewhere you won't accept it. Right? Again, if I write an article and have it published can it be used?ChaplainSvendsen 18:02, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

At the time I checked it, it was about a surgical technique (with graphic photographs - thankfully I'm studying to go to med school and can stomach such things!) and did not mention dimples at all in the introductory paragraphs. Hi Eclectek,

Thank you too for your editing presence throughout the page. I am new to wikipedia and have taking a great deal of time learning the system. To answer your question, Yes the correct name of the festival is "Voodoo Experience", if you could change the title of the article that would be great because I do not know how, also there needs to be a link where viewers will be redirected from things like "Voodoo Music Experience" "Voodoo Music Festival" "Voodoo Festival" and "VMX".

Piragua

Eclectek, thank you for the kind words. Since you have been doing some editing to the article yourself, I would like to share with you the following:

I was invited by the government of Puerto Rico last Memorial Day where they paid me tribute. Now get this, The last time that I visited the island was 18 years ago and this was the first time that my family went with me. Therefore, one of the first things that I did was to take my granddaughters to enjoy their "first" piraguas. When I returned to the states, I realized that articles had been written about all sorts of frozen deserts, but nothing on the piragua, not even a decent website article. So, now you have the story about how a military historian ended up writing an article on the piragua (smile).

ArbCom 2018 election voter message

Hello, Eclectek. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
