Thoughts on potential article creations edit

  • Motohiro Kawashima - Featured in interviews and other articles about the Streets of Rage series, article would be likely to stand if created.
  • Teruhiko Nakagawa - Not notable, and no real use creating an Wikipedia article on him. Better fit for Sega Retro.
  • Tomoko Sasaki - Notable for her contributions in the Nights series and Ristar, but that's it. It would be a small article as well, as she hasn't really done much outside those games. Better fit for Sega Retro.
  • Tokuhiko Uwabo - Notable among 80s era Sega fans, but outside that? Not much regarding reliable sources with him, but you could say the same about Sawada and Nanba though, so it's worth a shot to make an article, maybe.
  • Yutaka Minobe - Same as Nakagawa, better fit for Sega Retro.

Although they are a bit more notable than some other composers who work(ed) for Sega, I guess you're right about them not being notable enough for Wikipedia. HELP! edit

There is a problem about Turkish Kurdistan page. A user which is Bruskom making vandalizm on page. Turkish Kurdistan borders are not unclear as everybody knows. The studies on this is so limited. We can use just a few source as CIA, Turkish General Election, Some ethnicity map to estimate the border of Turkish Kurdistan. But this user try to show Kurdish population higher, majority areas larger. He deleted opposite documents which he doesnt like. For example Turkish gerenal election. It is most important documents to show real Kurdish votes and Kurdish majority. For example a map is propered by German "https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/35/Ethnic_Groups_Turkey_Dutch.jpg". Turkish version is File:Türkiyeetnikharitası.JPG. He tries to show Turkish majority cities as Kurdish majority cities. He doeesnt stop the certain individuals from attempting to spread propaganda on this page. You should add a source to that anyway, if it were true. It's not enough evidence, Hiroshi Kawaguchi made music for different departments, especially during Metal Fangs (which is not even a Sega published game). Rent-A-Hero and Sword of Vermillion makes sense for AM2 games because there is enough evidence to support that there is staff correlation. Yu Suzuki as special thanks in those two especially. Your edit to "Oni" re: Power of Seven edit

Hi DrDevilFX, thanks for the edit regarding the composers who worked on Oni. I was curious how you determined that those three individuals (Sebastien, Salter, Cascone) were the members of Power of Seven who worked on Oni, or how you determined their membership in the group at all. I find it a bit confusing trying to determine who Sebastien worked with at Power of Seven versus who later composed music under Headspace, which brought in outside composers. I did find this intriguing news item which declares Power of Seven to be a trio of "NVerse, Brian Salter and Kim Cascone" at the time of Oni's development: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/bungies-mp3-contribution/1100-2451769/. Do you know who NVerse was? Could that be an alias for Sebastien himself? I can find nothing at all on the Internet about the identity of NVerse. I would have thought Sebastien would be too busy as Director of Production at Headspace to contribute to Oni's soundtrack. I'm also not sure why Power of Seven is credited or mentioned at all after they were folded into Headspace. Hi. Yes, I determined those three were part of Power of Seven based on some pages that said it consisted of "NVerse, Brian Salter and Kim Cascone". I can't suspect NVerse to be anyone other than Sebastien, as he is explicitly credited to have worked on the game on the back of the Oni CD. The whole Power of Seven thing is a little confusing, since Headspace acquired it in 1995 (his old Headspace page mentions he joined in May 1995), announced it in 1996 but Sebastien continued to use the name for future game projects. I did check this with Sebastien and he said that he was still allowed to use the name for the group with him, Salter and Cascone as they were working together at Headspace anyways. It seems PoS were brought in to do the techno/ambient tracks and TotalAudio did the cinematic stuff.
I also found the page for the second iteration of Power of Seven: https://web.archive.org/web/20020123134430/http://www.p7media.com/ So I think there's proof that Power of Seven was now a group and not just Sebastien, as it was prior to Oni. Despite those same three people leaving Headspace in 1998, it seems they still worked together for a few more years, but of course as Power of Seven (and without Blake Leyh and Thomas Dolby). Interesting, thanks for the clarification. And I never saw that web page mentioning their work on Oni before!
I too was thinking that Power of Seven seems to have done the techno and ambient tracks. For instance, the techno music in the 1998 and 1999 trailers is not Marty O'Donnell's style, and I don't think he was working on the game at that point anyway. In this interview, Marty says that he came into the project with some music already done by P7 and then added more of his own: https://halo.bungie.org/misc/nico_marty_interview.html. (He doesn't even mention Salvatori doing any composition, just himself.)
Also, there are a bunch of atmospheric tracks in Oni, distinguished by their "atm*" names (see our fan wiki), and these don't seem like O'Donnell's style either. I've been looking into Sebastien's music, Salter's, and Cascone's, and I can't help but think that Cascone did the atm* tracks and Sebastien or maybe Salter did the techno tracks. Sebastien said he recalls doing some ambient tracks too, though those may not neccessarily have been used, and his memory isn't the best so he doesn't remember exact details or tracks he did. (Power of Seven also had royalty free tracks and such too) Some of the techno tracks sound like Sebastien and his Headspace/Psykosonik work (e.g. Trailer), while others sound more like Salter's jungle stuff he did for Headspace (e.g East Wind). Cascone specializes in ambient and atmospheric stuff so he probably did lots of those. As for Salvatori, maybe he just helped O'Donnell with orchestration/arrangement?
Real shame the CD is very vague with the credits. It seems the P7 tracks were just sent to Bungie without accompanying credits for them, so they're all just "Power of Seven". DrDevilFX (talk) 23:04, 22 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, the credits are a mess (actually, they could be a lot worse; trying to figure out Descent's music credits is seemingly impossible). Fwiw, I've emailed Cascone to see if he recalls anything. I did hear back from Cascone. He confirmed having done sound design for Oni "as spec work", but didn't believe any of his work was used in the game. I asked if he could listen to some of the ambient samples that I thought might be his work, providing a link, but haven't heard back. Yeah, I've had that a lot where people respond the first time but don't respond to subsequent emails, and it's frustrating. It could also be that they aren't his and he doesn't care enough to respond, but who knows. I guess that leaves the techno/breakbeat tracks as being by Salter and Sebastien. Yes, it could be that it's not his work, or maybe he just doesn't want to click on any strange links, which feels equally likely to me. That being said, Marty also did some atmospheric work on Oni – we know some tracks are his because they actually come from his work on Myth. He did dabble in ambient work in the Myth soundtrack, e.g. "Smiths of Muirthemne" which made its way to Oni. All the tracks which we know are his are named with "mus_" so I thought that maybe the "atm_" tracks (listenable here) were from P7 and from Cascone specifically. Part of me has a mind to join Marty's Discord and see if he'll answer questions about the ambient tracks. But if they came from P7 then he probably won't have any idea who made them, so it won't necessarily solve the mystery. -- Iritscen (talk) 20:06, 6 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
I'm sure it would at least solve whether he or P7 did them, even if he wouldn't know the specifics about who from P7 did what. Maybe you could also clarify Michael's involvement with him, which I'd assume to have been helping with arrangement/orchestration. There's also a chance the other two P7 guys might've done those, as they've also had experience with creating atmospheric ambience for Headspace RMF collections. By the way, if you're interested, it's been found that Salter later remixed 5 of the tracks he composed ("East Wind", "Pursuit", "Konoko Chase", "Oni Fever", "Whirled Piece") for his 2005 album, Missing Scenes (see tracks 1, 4 to 6 and 8). This album essentially confirms he composed those 5 tracks. To be honest, the only one that really strikes me as being Sebastien's work is the trailer music, so I feel Salter did the remaining techno tracks that don't have confirmed credits.
