Well, allright then. Off we go! The next step is really up to you: Let me know what you'd like to get out of this whole thing. I can give you specific assignments and such, or I can just sort of be here for questions and general guidance. Whichever style you prefer is the one we'll use.

You might also like to peruse my wikithoughts page (read it bottom-to-top), to get an idea of what my early experiences were like – along with some general pointers for staying sane in this place.

With regard to the article you started, John McIntyre (copy editor), you'll need to be careful – read the rules at WP:NOTABLE for what will and won't be proposed for deletion on Wikipedia. As it currently stands, someone is probably going to suggest that the article be deleted because the notability isn't explained clearly enough. It might help me to know why you chose to make a page on this person?

Your first assignment

Okay, then. Seeing as how you're interested in sabermetrics, and that article is in sore need of sources, your assignment is to find three (3) reliable sources, and add them to the article where appropriate. (Keep in mind you may need to rewrite certain sentences or sections to include your sources.) Finding a source for the Bill James tidbit at the start seems like one of the most important places to start.

Remember that Google can be useful, but your local library probably also has access to many, many other articles. Check the website or maybe even visit in person.

The references look good. You've used reliable sources, and added them in the right spots. Now we need to work on the formatting. Since you've used <ref> tags, we'll proceed with APA style, the one I use (and the main style for footnotes, and the easiest for Wikipedia, IMO). The following bits of information are needed in each citation:

1. Author's name and date of source. Some websites don't have an author listed. If it's not available, just skip it or list the organization as the author.
2. Title of article. This goes in quotation marks. If you're using a book, skip this one.
3. Name of publication. This is italicized. Give the title of the magazine, newspaper, website, or journal. If you're using a book, give the book's title.
4. Online info (if applicable). If you got the info from a website, indicate the name (and make it a link) of the sponsoring organization. (espn.org, for example, is sponsored by ESPN.) Also give the date you accessed the site.
5. Page number(s). Indicate which page(s) the information is found on. (This obviously doesn't apply to online sources.)

You can find guidelines and examples on the APA style page linked above, and for examples in action, you might want to check out 1998_Puerto_Rican_general_strike, which I wrote. Don't copy word for word

Should you copy things word for word? No. The first and most important reason is copyright. In the case of sabermetrics, there's really no reason. The best alternative is to paraphrase (and then cite your source), or – if you really like the wording in your source and you think it must be included – then put it in quote marks and indicate beforehand who wrote/said it. (See Balzac for some examples.)

Also:

1. Don't forget to sign your name. Use four tildes (~~~~). (Your last comment on my talk page was unsigned; probably just an oversight.)
2. When you're adding something new to a previous discussion, it's a good idea to block-indent your paragraph; do this by putting a colon (:) before the first word. It makes conversations easier to read.

Okay, I've got another project for you. I noticed you're a San Francisco Giants fan, so I looked around on its talk page. Someone recently created an article on announcer Hank Greenwald. It's a stub, and it needs citations and sources. Your assignment is to start with this article and add reliable information with citations. If you find other sources, great – but be careful! Sorry for the delay there. The Hank Greenwald article looks better, and while I'd like to see that copyright banner gone entirely, you've indicated a desire to work on non-sports-related articles, so I'll leave it for now.

Your next assignment is to fix the page on Spider Climbing. It's a bit of a mess there right now, but certainly fixable. Step one is to take it away from the current advert-like focus on only one company and recast it as an article about the phenomenon as a whole. I recommend using this article to ground it in verifiability. If you like, you might move the page to Spider climbing. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. 24 "silent clock"

On 24, a silent clock does not always mean death of a main (or key) character. Season 2 ended with a silent clock (after an assassination attempt on David Palmer, who lived to see another "day"); similarly, Season 6 finished with another silent clock as Jack left Audrey for the (apparently) last time. User group for Military Historians

Greetings,

"Military history" is one of the most important subjects when speak of sum of all human knowledge. To support contributors interested in the area over various language Wikipedias, we intend to form a user group. It also provides a platform to share the best practices between military historians, and various military related projects on Wikipedias. An initial discussion was has been done between the coordinators and members of WikiProject Military History on English Wikipedia. Now this discussion has been taken to Meta-Wiki. Contributors intrested in the area of military history are requested to share their feedback and give suggestions at Talk:Discussion to incubate a user group for Wikipedia Military Historians.

April 2021 WikiProject Military History Reviewing Drive

Hey y'all, the April 2021 WikiProject Military History Reviewing Drive begins at 00:01 UTC on April 1, 2021 and runs through 23:59 UTC on April 31, 2021. Points can be earned through reviewing articles on the AutoCheck report, reviewing articles listed at WP:MILHIST/ASSESS, reviewing MILHIST-tagged articles at WP:GAN or WP:FAC, and reviewing articles submitted at WP:MILHIST/ACR. Service awards and barnstars are given for set points thresholds, and the top three finishers will receive further awards.
