Your Bot

Your bot has recently tagged a few album pages as "substantial copies" due to the track listings. Is there a way you can fix that? Undeath (talk) 20:48, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

Conduct of Cheeser1

On November 28, 2007, you had blocked editor Cheeser1 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) for 31 hours due to edit warring. He received a reduced block as he promised not to do it again. He has repeated this trend and there is currently a WP:3RR for him [1]. Thank you for your time.Netkinetic (t/c/@) 21:47, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

I've looked at your edit history, and the anon's. You do not want to involve me in that dispute, because I'm pretty certain you won't like the result. — Coren (talk) 22:26, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

WP:RFA statement

(Let's keep this on your talk page, I get confused by double vision)  :-) — Coren (talk) 00:13, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Not sure where to put this

I was exploring the talk pages and found the ArbCom dispute involving Jersyko. I noticed that you informed several people of their involvement in the dispute, and that all claimants appear to have been permanently banned and therefore unable to argue.

In the case against Jersyko, it accused Tvoz/Bobblehead of being "meatpuppets" and indeed they have accused me of being a sockpuppet as well. I'm not sure if I should add this information to this ArbCom dispute - especially since Jersyko has not been directly involved as of yet.

One more thing, they requested and apparently received a "checkuser" request from Thatcher [2]. My question is, is this appropriate? A formal request not made, and this appears to have been a backchannel method for obtaining my IP address and seems to violate my privacy. I could really care less about my privacy, as long as I don't get hacked, but this seems inappropriate to me, especially if this has been a method of banning new users.

Sorry for throwing this on you, but you appear to be a neutral party (from a cursory glance at your history) and you seemed like a good person to ask about the under-the-table "checkuser." TheGoodLocust (talk) 05:04, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

I wouldn't worry about it; it's common for checkusers to be done outside the normal process to avoid adding extra acrimony to an already involved process when there is already a discussion about some incident. You'll note that the checkuser (Thatcher in that case) did not reveal your IP, or indeed more than the fact that you were one state away from the (also undisclosed) state of the editor he checked you against. The Request for Checkuser process is there to give all the context to decide whether to make a checkuser when the request is "out of the blue", as it were, as opposed as within the context of some other incident. — Coren (talk) 12:29, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

A place in the dirt

There was no page so I posted the artist, album, and lyrics. There are other pages (not in wikipedia but on the web) with lyrics, but I decided to put it in one place. I ststed my source at the end of the lyrics. The page is probably removed. It should be up. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gothrock4life (talkcontribs) 02:32, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

MEGAN

I don't know the ins and outs of publishing your own stuff on Wikipedia, so I just rewrote the guy's article to remove the copyright violation. How does this bot work? Can you ask it to check a particular article? --Blechnic (talk) 04:11, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Coren - greetings. The "bot" has flagged a very simple, one-line description of GenVec, a biopharmaceutical company, as possibly being a copyright violation because the one-liner is also linked to the company's website (www.genvec.com). There is no cause for concern -- GenVec is a publicly traded company, the website is a public access website, the one-liner is consistent with GenVec's publicly-distributed descriptions of itself, etc. etc. Please can you remove the bot's notice of concern? Thanks much - Umtalor

PHG

Coren, I would appreciate it if you would unblock PHG as immediately as you can find reason to. I will provide sufficient reason at his talk page within minutes. John J. Bulten (talk) 23:05, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

If there's no objections, I'm lifting the block. I'd like to see how the AfD is concluded, at the very least. Thx in advance for your cooperation. El_C 23:20, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Okay, it's been a little while and I don't wish to have the user remain blocked any longer while I await for a response, so I'm going ahead and unblocking. I'll reiterate my rational: there was an AfD opened first, and it, therefore, is the process that will determine whether there has been fabrication or gaming the rules. Had the AfD concluded this, I would take no issue with an indefinite block pending mentorship or whatever arrangement — but the block has taken place prior to such a finding. It also restricts the user from participating in this process. As admins, we have to follow our own rules. As long as the AfD remains open, it, in theory, can still vindicate the user's claim. El_C 00:06, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

Sorry for no faster answer, El_C, I'm just back from work. Can you hold on on the unblock for ~10 minutes while I catch up, please? — Coren (talk) 00:07, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
Eeep! One minute (or less). Talk about timing! — Coren (talk) 00:08, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, sorry about that. Mere seconds. El_C 00:13, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
You should not have over-ruled me on unarchiving the AE report. That reflects poorly on you. El_C 00:53, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
Let's agree to disagree on that. I don't beleive that discussion should be held anywhere else, and I don't agree that the AfD is relevant to the discussion to begin with. — Coren (talk) 01:01, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
I think you're too inexperienced, and it shows. El_C 01:04, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
I think that is being patronizing. Please keep this discussion on AE, on topic, and the tone a little more mature, alright? — Coren (talk) 01:07, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
Sorry you find it patronizing, such is not the intent. But you have already been cautioned about this before. El_C 01:10, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi Coren, just to make sure that I am understanding the sequence of events here:

  • 20:16 - Jehochman started the AE thread[3]
  • 21:24 - You blocked PHG[4]
  • 21:53 - El C put the AE thread "on hold" [5]
  • 23:08 - El C told you the block should be lifted.[6]
  • 00:11 - El C unblocked PHG[7]

Did you, Coren, at any point say that you were okay on El C unblocking PHG? Or did he just unilaterally overrule you? --Elonka 02:08, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

It's unfortunate Elonka cannot give it a rest. Anyway, Coren is on record stating: "were it not for the timing, I would have opposed the unblock." El_C 02:50, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
Yes, Coren said that at 00:43, after you'd already unblocked.[8] El C, what you did was a serious breach of administrator ethics. See WP:WHEEL, and please think hard about whether or not you feel that you are genuinely suited to keep on being an administrator. --Elonka 03:02, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
Elonka, please. Don't read more into this than necessary. I assume El_C would have delayed then discussed the unblock, if he had known that I was just a few seconds behind him— whether we had agreed after that discussion or not doesn't mean that it wouldn't have occurred. — Coren (talk) 03:38, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
Elonka needs to slow down, she is getting ahead of herself. El_C 03:51, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

New Brunswick general election, 1866

The CorenSearchBot identified this page as a substantial copy of page http://medlibrary.org/w/index.php?title=New_Brunswick_general_election%2C_1866&action=edit. The problem is that the page at medlibrary.org states clearly that it is presenting material from Wikipedia (in fact, the article which CorenSearchBot is identifying as a possibly copyright violation). This bot may need some retooling to prevent future false positives. --Big_iron (talk) 11:36, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but since the Arbitration Committee has already rejected cases from you as "frivolous", you will have to email the committee directly if you with to present a new case. — Coren (talk) 15:22, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

You are wrong. One person from ArbCom decided not to hear it but then some other person blanked out the ArbCom request. When you blank out things, it is considered vandalism.203.118.53.72 (talk) 03:45, 7 April 2008 (UTC) (Harry59c)

Not not pick nits, but accusing arbitrators of vandalism is not going to win you any points. — Coren (talk) 12:25, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

It was suggested that I watch over this (I don't want to get involved other than that). The person who blanked out things was not an arbitrator. Therefore, your statement is in error. Shouldn't you do the right and honourable thing and submit the request and let the committee decide if they want to here it? A clerk is not the judge who decides what cases the court hears. Again, I don't want to get involved so that's the end of my involvement. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.123.1.36 (talk) 13:00, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

I also see that the person Harry put something on AN. Some commented but some admin took it upon himself to censor the comment with the excuse of trolling. Is WP crazy?

It should probably be noted that I blocked this IP address for harrassment against me while obviously evading his block, apparently he confused me with Consumed Crustacean who removed the thread from AN, but even if it was Crustacean who received the trolling we shouldn't allow blocked editors to go around editing disruptively. - Caribbean~H.Q. 22:52, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

Canadian Diamond Code of Conduct article

Earlier today I tried to create an article explaining what the Canadian Diamond Code of Conduct is about. I am the Treasurer of that Code. The text of the article was extracted from our publication and was reviewed and approved by the Canadian Diamond Code Committee (CDCC). The CDCC owns the copyright of the Voluntary Code of Conduct for Authenticating Canadian Diamond Claims (the formal name of the Code). We still want the article to be posted. How do we do that? Heh. Yeah, it really wasn't meant to deal with interwikis; only noticeboard-style pages. I could limit it to level 2s and make it understand footers if needed; although the AN format was the only one I intended. (And it's all pretty much moot now, I think). — Coren (talk) 12:00, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Re: Should vs. must

It should be phrased as a recommendation, not as a requirement or even as strongly worded as "should". I would be fairly certain that there are a lot of admins who would block over this sentence, and would refuse to unblock because "you're just using semantics to avoid doing what policy says you should be doing". You could have "It is suggested that bot accounts are restricted to one task per account for the following reasons:". That I would be fine with. Anything more strongly worded is not something I'm going to agree with. If you think admins are going to show common sense and give existing bots leeway and such, then I will bring to you one example I remember very clearly (though not to the level of who was involved) where a developer's bot that had been running since long before BRFA's were required was blocked for failing to link to one. There are policy nuts admins, and I don't feel like having to argue with them every time one of them comes along and blocks my bot for my egregious policy violations.--Dycedarg ж 02:16, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

A request

Coren, I'm writing to ask that you not do or say anything that might escalate the tension regarding a recent exchange of Giano's. He has asked a reasonable question of FT2, who seems to have a good reason for not being able to reply onwiki until he's made more inquiries, and so he removed it from his talk page. Giano has now moved the question to the policy talk page, which is more appropriate. That's hopefully the end of things until FT2 has time to consider a reply, which as I understand it requires some research. Both were acting in good faith, as were you in trying to calm things down, but I'm just worried that the more that is said, the less calm things will become. :-) SlimVirgin talk|edits 23:00, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

At this point, Giano seems to have gone to sleep. Night brings counsel, and it is to be hoped that next day will bring cooler heads. — Coren (talk) 23:03, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Recommendation re your message on Irpen's page

I suggest you give yourself a little time to calm down before you post a reproach on the wiki, Coren. Try the time-honored counting to ten, if necessary. Or try telling yourself: "I'm not a badtempered Victorian father about to deliver a caning. I'm not a Dickensian captain of industry sacking a minion. This is not a humble slave I'm addressing." Don't be shrill. Don't hector. Whether or not you use that kind of tone in real life—I take leave to doubt it—please don't bring it here. We all have a shared responsibility for promoting a decent community climate. Please think about it. Regards, Bishonen | talk 12:30, 15 April 2008 (UTC).

In that particular case, whilst quite outmoded, the caning sounds like it would have been a good idea. Certainly well deserved. Oh well, live with the times. — Coren (talk) 12:37, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

Or did you massage something else to make the message? I just received a notice from CorenSearchBot, who informed me that an article I had just created, Eerste Divisie 1956-57 appeared to be "a substantial copy of http://medlibrary.org/w/index.php?title=Eerste_Divisie_1956-57&action=edit." Medlibrary is a Wikipedia mirror, the article I created was directly posted there. Just thought I'd let you know. AecisBrievenbus 23:10, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

CorenSearchBot

Hi Coren, can CorenSearchBot deal with non-Latin script such as Arabic? Would you like to run it on ar wp if I were to look after its edits and answer questions there? Or will the code be available soon? Санта Клаус (talk) 21:07, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

That's an excellent question. I suppose it would, given that it understands UTF-8; but I don't know how reliable Yahoo would be at searching arabic text. I can try, if you point me at a wiki (and guide me through the bot process there). — Coren (talk) 06:07, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
Excellent! Yahoo does a good job in searching all types of texts including Arabic. Would you please create accouts on Arabic wp ([15])? The bot process is straightforward (applications) - I can make it on your behalf if you like. I guess no harm in trying it out. I can't help with technicalities but I know people who can help if needed. Many thanks. Санта Клаус (talk) 12:36, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
I've created ar:User:CorenSearchBot, but I admit that I get hopelessly confused by the right-to-left user interface and editing.  :-) My user account, ar:User:Coren exists automatically because of unified login, but you probably want to point here on en.wp. Please do the application on my behalf and set up a user page and talk for me and the bot in Arabic (preferably pointing back to en.wp) and give me a holler once the approval goes through. I'll start the bot up once that's done. — Coren (talk) 14:58, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
I have posted in the village pump about it. Please do a few runs. I still need to copy the template it places on users talks. Much appreciated. Санта Клаус (talk) 15:26, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

About a message to me

Nice to meet you. A message came to my page, but there cannot be the thing that I did copying such as the indication. What kind of thing will it be?--Nameless User (talk) 14:12, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

The second message came. I have not done copying such as the indication.--Nameless User (talk) 14:38, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
I have received the same message, see #Bot spots Wikipedia mirror. CSB spotted the exact same article at medlibrary, which is a Wikipedia mirror. See Wikipedia:Mirrors_and_forks/Mno#medlibrary.org. AecisBrievenbus 15:24, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

Site medlibrary.org has Wikipedia content

23 April 2008: I just created new article 1280s_in_architecture, and CorenSearchBot was not aware that medlibrary.org copied the new Wikipedia page content into the medlibrary webpage http://medlibrary.org/w/index.php?title=1280s_in_architecture, using the exact same title and subheader names. Website "medlibrary.org" (as a copycat) should be omitted from copyright comparisons. I will untag that page when I add more buildings. -Wikid77 (talk) 15:52, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, I'm sorry I hadn't gotten the opportunity to exclude that side; I'll handle it a bit later today. — Coren (talk) 16:03, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
'tis done. — Coren (talk) 22:44, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Does CSBot notify makers of accused copyvios?

Many creators are not getting to know this. Ultra! 18:49, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Fine I saw the bot notifying. Ultra! 18:52, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Your bot

gave me a warning of possible copyvio of Sogyeok-dong which I also created. [16] The dong (neighborhood) articles recently created by me are at stub with same sources and format, so the bot could not detect the differences of the mentioned articles, but if I get the same warning sign by the bot, you might think about whether it is properly working. Thanks..--Appletrees (talk) 20:39, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

I got the absurd second warning. Please fix your bot soon. --Appletrees (talk) 20:57, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
The bot is functioning properly: the stubs are basically identical, exactly what it was designed to detect. — Coren (talk) 21:13, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
The contents are not identical if you read those. I do not want to waste my time to throw the false warning whenever I created geographical stubs. So fix it not to send me such warning.--Appletrees (talk) 21:42, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Seaon Bristol

The Bot sais that the information is taken from http://411.salsafrenzy.com/Seaon. but the information is taken from http://seaonstylist.com/Seaon%20Bristol~Stylist.htm which is Seaon Bristol's own website and I think it's allowed to use the information about him for his own page in Wikipedia and it's a kind of Pubic Domain. However I sent an E-mail to Seaon Bristol's e-mail adress and asked for permission.Solino (talk) 12:43, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

CorenSearchBot

I'm an admin at nowiki, and I'm wondering if it is possible to use this bot on another language? Perhaps even run it from an other machine and against another web search engine? By using the web search engine no:Sesam we could scan norwegian newspapers which otherwise isn't indexed. Jeblad (talk) 15:16, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

It should be fairly easy to adapt; the search function is pretty well isolated. Are you looking for the source only or for someone to run it? — Coren (talk) 17:41, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
I can run it myself if the code is available, but its not very important for me to be the bot operator. There is a norwegian company running web search bots, and they will probably be a lot better for norwegian web sites. Do you have any public documents about the bot? Jeblad (talk) 14:55, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
Any progress on this? 87.248.5.124 (talk) 14:57, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Search Bot

Hey Coren

Quite an innovative idea, making a bot that discovers potential copyvios. Any chance i can borrow the functioning bot files so i can run them on ar.wp from my toolserver account ?

Let me know

--Lord Anubis (talk) 15:29, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

No response yet?--Lord Anubis (talk) 12:25, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
The source is here, but running from the TS is problematic: Yahoo limits searches by source IP, and when CSBot ran there for a while it quickly ran out. — Coren (talk) 12:28, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. I ll try to run it from my machine then. --Lord Anubis (talk) 13:38, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

North California Golf Association

Your bot says that that I have used copyrighted info from the NCGA.org web page. I simply have stated the FACTS of the organization from their website. I assume that is why the bot caught my article. I cited the About page of the website. If I am at fault here, that is ok, but please tell me how else I could have stated these facts.--TravelinSista (talk) 17:34, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Donnalee Lozeau

I see where the confusion was. The title of the article state's city's first female mayor and the first sentence says she is the first women in the city's 153 year history. There does not appear to me to a exact copy of the two. If am in error please let me know how else it could be written. Bentley4 (talk) (Bentley4 (talk) 02:15, 25 April 2008 (UTC))

ANI redux

Hi Coren,

You might recall our discussion a few months ago about changing the way ANI works: converting it to an RfA-like or AfD-like transcluded list. It seems to me it failed mostly because people wanted to be able to watchlist one page, and see all the changes that were made to all the threads. I’ve been thinking, and I think we could actually solve that objection. Not only that, I think we can also improve on the current situation, where long threads are shunted off to subpages, which no longer show up on the watchlist. Seems win-win to me, but I’d like a bot person’s opinion.

How hard would it be to have a bot post a null edit on the new, improved ANI (I know, not really a null edit, but adding a harmless space) every time someone made an edit to any of the active subpages?

For example, EditorA posts a new thread at the bottom of ANI. ANIBot-I notices this, and creates a subpage with an appropriate header, moves the text to the subpage, and replaces the text on ANI with a transclusion of the new subpage. EditorB clicks on the [edit] button on ANI (just like now), but this takes him to the subpage, where he makes his edit (just like RfA and AfD currently). ANIBot-II notices this, and makes a null edit in the appropriate section of the main ANI page, with the edit summary “EditorB: (insert their edit summary here)”. EditorsC thru M do the same thing, and ANIBot-II does the same thing. EditorN, who watchlists ANI and not the subpage, notices all the action, leading her to go to that section to see what the fuss is about (just like now). She can see the thread on ANI (just like now). She can edit the thread by clicking [edit] (just like now). Everyone is happy.

Now, say the thread gets so long, it’s starting to make ANI difficult to load. ANIBot-III notices this, and when a subpage gets to be a certain size, it doesn’t transclude it on ANI anymore, it just replaces it with a pointer to the subpage (just like now). However, ANIBot-II still does its thing on the ANI page, so people watchlisting ANI still get their notice that there is activity on the subpage (which is one of the main reasons people disagree about the current subpage setup; the lack of notice on the main page that a subpage is active). Everyone is happy.

Meanwhile, EditorO links to the discussion on a talk page or edit summary somewhere. He links to the subpage, so the link will never break. If he makes a mistake and links to WP:ANI#2008-04-23 Admin abuse, then a year from now when EditorP runs across the link, there’s no searching through the archives looking for the thread; it’s always going to be at WP:ANI/2008-04-23 Admin abuse. Just replace the # with a /. Everyone is happy.

Once a day, or twice a day, or continuously, when ANIBot-IV notices that there has not been an edit made to a subpage in X hours, it removes the transclusion on WP:ANI, and adds a link to WP:ANI/Archive/2008-04. That’s it, no copy-paste archiving. History remains with the discussion. No one needs to know what day an article was archived to find it. No links are broken. If we want, the bot could also add archive tags to the discussion, to prevent further edits. Or, depending on what people want, it could leave the subpage unarchived, and just relist a subpage on ANI if further discussion ever occurred; i.e. threads never truly close. Or, if people want, it’s much easier to manually archive a thread early; add the archive tags to the page, remove the transclusion, and you’re done. Everyone is happy.

The only remaining weakness I see is the rather heavy reliance on bots (although you probably think of this as a plus ;) ). But if the bot goes down, ANI doesn’t seize up or anything. Discussion still goes on in the subpages, and experienced people can move new topics to subpages themselves. The only critical thing you lose when the bots go down is the update to the main ANI page. Life would go on.

Much of this is just a consolidation of stuff you’ve already worked on, or stuff that’s already been discussed. The only thing that's new (and I don’t know how feasible it is), is the ANIBot-II and ANIBot-III work. In particular, how feasible would it be for the bot to watch not only all “active” subpages, but “all” subpages, so that edits to dormant subpages can be dealt with?

What do you think? I have to run, but am very interested in what you think about the feasibility of a watchlist bot. I'll check in later. --barneca (talk) 14:27, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Sorry to harrass you; if you don't have time/desire to comment that's fine, just checking if maybe you didn't notice/forgot about this, and I think your archive bot is going to nuke it tomorrow. Just a brief "no comment" would let me know to bug someone else. --barneca (talk) 14:23, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
None of the above, actually. It's a non-trivial suggestion and I need time to examine it before I comment, which I'll only really have over the weekend. Thanks for your patience. — Coren (talk) 16:30, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
No rush at all, just didn't want your bot to archive it before you looked. I'll wait to hear from you sometime next week, perhaps. --barneca (talk) 16:32, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Summarising evidence

I'm sorry, it may take a while to do so. If you let me finish getting it all together first, it'll then be easier to spot what's redundant and can be cut down, but I'm trying to point out editing trends, which is difficult, and which I can only manage to do, at least in the first draft, if I'm precise and put things forwards in a way I can understand.

That said, I really don't se how I'm supposed to demonstrate complex behavioural evidence, including POV-pushing and trends in behaviour to the Arbcom in a mere 1000 words, and it's not going to shrink down substantially and still give the necessary context. Can we ignore all rules in this case, so long as I keep it focused, on-topic, and stick strictly to presenting evidence? In the end, my "Job" here is to present, to a group which it's reasonable to presume have no experience in reading scientific papers in the main, that Ullman is consistently misrepresenting studies. This basically requires a walk-through, not diffs. Shoemaker's Holiday (talk) 01:52, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Merging articles.

I was caught by your bot merging the stub articles Ashburnham and Penhurst into a new civil Parish article Ashburnham and Penhurst. Reading the comments on your page, I see I probably should have done some moving first. Question is, what should I do now? I do not want to expand the article then have it all wiped because I did not follow procedure. MortimerCat (talk) 12:21, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

nb Someone has since added the {{R from merge}} template. MortimerCat (talk) 17:11, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Semperviva

Hello Coren,

What should I do with this message? I am a representative of Semperviva.

Kind regards,

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Semperviva, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.save-foundation.net/semperviva/home.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 14:18, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Help please

I made two moves before realizing that I did not use the right prodedure. One is at http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=A%CE%B4_fiber&redirect=no, which I copied-cut and redirected to an existing, more elaborated page, A delta fiber, leaving behind the history page. The other is at http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=McGill_pain_index&redirect=no, which I copied-cut and redirected to a page that I created McGill Pain Questionnaire, leaving behind discussion and history pages. I took care to make the required corrections to redirect links, but would like to resolve also the pages left behind. What should I do? --Robert Daoust (talk) 17:08, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

That requires an actual move, which now can only be done by an admin since there is something at the destination. I'll have a few minutes to handle it in a bit unless someone else notices and does so first. No worries. — Coren (talk) 17:41, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Mentor

Hi Coren. The Arbcom has passed a motion asking me to use widely available English sources (fine), or use foreign sources with the assistance of a mentor [17]. My foreign sources would be in French (mainly) and in Japanese (a bit). Do you confirm your agreement to assist me as a mentor? As the mentor is supposed to be approved by the Arbcom, do you know through which process we can officialize that? Best regards PHG (talk) 04:36, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Certainly. As for the process, I think just asking is quite enough. I'll set up a page where we can work and list sources as soon as they okay your selection of mentor, okay? — Coren (talk) 12:32, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
