Image:Sheimi.png edit

Hello Coojah, an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:Sheimi.png) was found at the following location: User:Coojah. This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. The image that was replaced will not be automatically deleted, but it could be deleted at a later date. Articles using the same image should not be affected by my edits. I ask you to please not readd the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. Thanks for your attention and cooperation. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 09:13, 17 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Non-free use disputed for Image:Bree Turner.jpg edit

  This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Bree Turner.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 16:50, 1 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for Image:MissRiyoMori.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:MissRiyoMori.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 21:09, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Unspecified source for Image:Queen_Liliuokalani.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Queen_Liliuokalani.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 23:14, 10 July 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Abu badali (talk) 23:14, 10 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I think you're confused... edit

I read....

Discrimination I noticed people keep switching back and forth this line...

"Especially in the early 20th century, most Filipino Americans were barred from marrying White Americans, African Americans, and Hispanic Americans."

Its always about adding or deleting the "African American" part.

While it could be plausible that Filipino Americans were barred from marring African Americans, I tink Its more likely that the African Americans were the ones being discriminated against from marrying Filipinos. Idk, its just my opinion. --Coojah 06:57, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

The pecking order in the U.S. is White, Black, Hispanic, then other, to include Asian. How would you "more likely" think that Afican Americans were being discriminated against from marrying Filipinos? And is your opinion derived from "fact" or mere gut feeling? If you're going to contradict an established fact or theory, back it up with stats. Stats will give your words credibility, not "IDk, it's just my opinion." While it is customary for Filipinos in the U.S. to tell their young daughters to not marry black (which they do anyway) and sometimes even steer them away from Filipinos, I'd bet the govt back in the beginning of the 20th century didn't give a damn if people of color married, regardless of their nationality. They only cared if Whites married blacks or other people of color (which the census shows that interracial unions, predominantly black men marrying white women, increases every year...stats ;). Most filipinas marry for security rather than love anyway. They prefer to marry older caucasian men because they desire to birth the ethnicity out of their off-spring and they feel they have security in terms of being financially stable. Most Filipinas hate their flat noses and strive to make their skin as white as possible. One gets the perception that most Filipinas lack national pride, often striving to look as caucasian as possible. Except my Filipina wife, that is... And being a military policeman that served 10 years in the Pacific, the majority (percentage-wise) of my domestic disturbance responses were to the residences of Filipinas married to caucasians. The systematic root cause was that the caucasian husband was accusing the Filipina wife of messing around with a black man, thus a domestic argument ensued. Oft times, I'd be conducting routine patrol of the base, and sure enough, I'd eventually see that same Filipina engaged in a "questionable/compromising" setting with a black servicemember. Not my business to address, thus I'd simply press-on. It made me conclude that after the marriage of security/honeymoon is over, Filipinas, whom are very romantic women, and desire romance long after saying "I do", tire of their neglectful "security" husbands (now bored with their Filipina princesses) and thus find romance.

Image copyright problem with Image:Island of Oahu - Landsat mosaic.jpg edit

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Island of Oahu - Landsat mosaic.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 23:29, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Democratic Party of Hawaii logo.png edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Democratic Party of Hawaii logo.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Fair use rationale for Image:Jawbreaker_DVD.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Jawbreaker_DVD.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Speedy deletion nomination of File:Fatherdamien.jpg edit

A tag has been placed on File:Fatherdamien.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Oahu Wiknic on June 23rd edit

Aloha! I am planning to set up an Oahu Wikinic for June 23, as described at Wikipedia:Wiknic

My Wikipedia user name is Peaceray, I started about 15 months ago, & I have about 2,500 edits on en.wikipedia.org. I have been hankering to meet with some fellow local Wikipedians, especially since a few of us live in Kailua. To that end, I am sending email to or posting on the user Talk pages of 19 of us from the Wikipedia:WikiProject Hawaii/Participants page who I could identify as possibly living on Oahu.

Please see Wikipedia:Meetup/Oahu/1 & Wikipedia talk:Meetup/Oahu/1

I am open to any of the locations mentioned in the post, or other alternatives. I am like-to-operate-by-consensus type of guy, any workable location on which we could soon decide would be great!

Hawaii edit-a-thon! edit

Hello. I'm interested in attempting to put together an edit-a-thon for Hawaiian cultural topics something during the Makahiki festival perhaps around the month of November. The hope is that our lackluster coverage of Hawaiian mythology could be improved with help from the Bishop Museum, Hawaii Pacific University, and the Honolulu public library. I am in the process of making initial contacts with these organizations as well as Wikimedia DC's GLAM project. If this sounds like something you might be interested in participating in, or perhaps helping to coordinate, could you please add your name to 2014 Makahiki Edit-a-thon?--v/r - TP 07:42, 10 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Looking for editors to help with an Asian Pacific American edit-a-thon in Honolulu edit

On Oahu? Edit Wikipedia or Wikimedia sister projects? You are invited to help the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center with an Asian Pacific American edit-a-thon in Honolulu this September.

Aloha!

Last summer I moved to the Seattle area after 14 years in Kailua on Oahu. I immediately fell in with the Cascadia Wikimedians User Group as it formed, joined its board and became its first president as well as the GLAM representative for Washington State.

Recently, Adriel Luis, Curator (Digital & Emerging Media) at the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center, contacted me about setting up an edit-a-thon like the previous Wikipedia APA edit-a-thon. In addition to discussing one for Seattle, he wrote:

As I was working two jobs while I lived on Oahu, I did not have the opportunity to meet your or any other Wikipedians at the time. Hence, the reason why I am contacting you now.

If you would like to help, please contact me through one of these methods:

Mahalo,

Proposed deletion of File:Princess kaiulani.jpg edit

The file File:Princess kaiulani.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unused, low quality. Superseded by File:Kaiulani in 1897, wearing pearl necklace (PPWD-15-3.016, restored).jpg.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 12:33, 5 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
