Disambiguation link notification for September 7

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Ohio Bobcats, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Boston Shamrocks. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Date ranges

Saw your edits to Bob McCann. Please be advised that an eight digit span of years in infoboxes is MOS standard (WP:DATERANGE) and consensus for basketball infoboxes. In the case of single seasons represented in a list of teams, the date range in this context is being used to replace the phrase "from 1988 to 1989," not expressing a single season. There has been significant discussion if this over years and I would ask that you respect this and adjust your scripts accordingly. Rikster2 (talk) 12:38, 8 September 2016 (UTC)

Really? I'm more concerned about our readers than editorial history. It's so difficult to read the spelled-out version, and it's so impractical in confined space. That's why it's difficult to understand why you'd hold to your artillery. Tony (talk) 13:25, 8 September 2016 (UTC)
Go read the MOS page and recent discussions. The trend is to go more towards 8-digit year in infoboxes and tables, not less. Part of that is that 6 digit seems to be a format used in some English speaking countries as "year, month." Another part is just that there is not universal agreement that 6-digit is necessarily easier to read than 8-digit. Not by a long shot. This is far from just my preference Rikster2 (talk) 13:30, 8 September 2016 (UTC)
Well, this has been a voyage of discovery. It seems the preference for a 2-digit endpoint, which has been the norm for many years, was changed in an RFC barely two months ago. I was completely unaware of that RFC. And to complicate matters, there is a specific exemption for infoboxes and sports seasons:

Firstly, when space is at a premium, such as in tables or infoboxes, 2 year date styles may be used. Secondly, applications such as sports seasons, fiscal years, and consecutive years use the two-year date range convention without problems.

However, I appreciate that there may a need to differentiate between sports seasons and year, though it's often not clear which is intended, and they will often coincide. The whole thing's a bit of a minefield, with extensive implications - vast numbers of articles have been changed over the years to use a 2-digit endpoint, as that was the preferred option. I'll just stick to converting hyphens to endashes and let someone else worry about the digits. Colonies Chris (talk) 15:38, 8 September 2016 (UTC)

Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge

Hi. I've noticed the good work you do on here. I was wondering if you'd be interested in contributing to this ambitious British Isles challenge to bringing about 10,000 improvements to the UK and Ireland. The drive is fuelled by regional contests every few months, but it is generally an ongoing content improvement development. If you'd be interested in chipping in with the articles you improve please add your name to the participants and start adding your entries to the big list. Diversity of input will make it much more interesting to peruse! Thanks.♦ Dr. Blofeld 08:29, 13 September 2016 (UTC)

University Center Patio listed at Redirects for discussion

An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect University Center Patio. Since you had some involvement with the University Center Patio redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion if you have not already done so. BDD (talk) 02:38, 26 September 2016 (UTC)
