Ah ya, how come I didn't realize this. Following the standard article naming in "Category:Lists of lakes by country", then we should go by "List of lakes of Taiwan" name, thus "List of lakes in Taiwan" article should be merged into "List of lakes of Taiwan" article without a doubt. Right, I edited Wikidata so that the zh.wiki version links to "of Taiwan". Can you merge them if you get a chance? Oh, I follow the information on the zh.wikipedia version of that article (https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E9%99%B3%E5%AF%B6%E8%B2%9D), which stated 逝世 (died) in 1975年12月23日 (23 December 1975). Ren-ai District

Actually the latin writing for any Chinese names in Taiwan is rather a mess generally I have to say. There is no universal standard of regulation for that. Taiwan has been using Wade Gillies type of writing to write the latin name for their places, such as Kaohsiung, Taichung, and this Ren-ai. However, after Ma Ying-jeou took office in 2008, he introduced Hanyu Pinyin to be the official way of writing latin words in Taiwan (with the exception of a well-established names of places, e.g. Taipei (instead of Taibei), Kaohsiung (instead of Gaoxiong) etc.) Generally, district/township names are not well-established famous name (except Lukang township in Changhua, instead of written as "Lugang"). So, back to this topic, following the Hanyu Pinyin convention, then this district should be written "Ren'ai". Again, nevertheless, if you go to their local gov website (the district government website), it is written "Ren-ai" District Office, Keelung City. But, even in that official website, the photo of the district hall at the background, it is written "Renai" without any ' sign. These "confusion" has always been the most ongoing issues regarding anything within WikiProject Taiwan in which none of us as the ultimate answer for it. Even when the gov tried to standardize the name changes at that time, some of the people who oppose to the gov will always maintain their own policy. So yeah, I have to say these kind of edits comprises the 99% of all edits happening within WikiProject Taiwan, sad to say. People focus too much on name writing (forget about if Taiwan is part of China or as Republic of China or as independent nation - these is another 99% of edit wars since the very beginning of WikiProject Taiwan), instead of focusing on adding the content of Taiwan-related articles. So yeah, I always try not to argue or not to think about any name changes with regards to Taiwan. My focus is just to keep writing new Taiwan articles, increase the content of the articles, and hope one day all of the articles within WikiProject Taiwan can achieve B-class rating with at least 100,000 articles in WikiProject Taiwan :) Chongkian (talk) 09:23, 2 April 2019 (UTC)

My goal is to 1) respect their spelling habits (even if there is more than one), 2) reflect the existence of any other known spellings and 3) be friendly. I made a change to the article based on the photograph you mentioned. How about this: if there's any source anyone finds that uses 'Ren'ai' in an English language context when talking about this place, then it can be added to the first line of the article as an alternate form, along with 'Renai'. Hehe, sorry for that sudden long-paragraph bragging. I guess this has always been one of the most common frustration for anyone who have been editing about Taiwan in Wikipedia - the naming convention. But yeah, I can see the good intention from you to list down all of the official naming convention (albeit different from one another). Ok, to add more "varieties" to the district name, I have found this English-language source: http://tour.klcg.gov.tw/en/accomodations/renai-district/ from the Keelung City Government website (klcg.gov.tw) that says "Ren'ai District". Request for help with QBit Semiconductor

I have created an article for QBit Semiconductor. The company is a small start-up and currently does not have a lot of written coverage. I was hoping you could take a look at the article page for me and give me some feedback on what I could do to improve it and stop the deletion process. I see some other companies with small articles are listed as "Stub" articles. Should I make this suggestion to the contributors that are voting to delete the article. Hi Klizb67, articles written in Wikipedia has to be notable with a minimum amount of coverage in news media, this is a universal rule for Wikipedia and Wikimedia Foundation project. I understand that some people wanna write basically about everything in Wikipedia (be it his/her organization, companies, he himself etc). While there is no regulation to prohibit such thing, again, it has to be notable first - This is the rule of Wikipedia, in which I cant even change that. For most of the startup company, if you want the company article to be fully accepted in Wikipedia, then you should go beyond stub-class rating, to be at least start-class or even C-class. For that, you need (and please asap) provide the following information (so that your article will not get deleted):

• Photo of the company's HQ office in Taipei and its R&D center photo in the US (make sure to upload it only to Wikimedia Commons)
• Add more information on the company's organizational structure, more detailed history in sequential manner (thus start from Oak Technology)
• Add its logo and write an explanation to the meaning of that logo inside the article
• Write down its subsidiaries/business divisions/departments/product line etc
• Add its any corporate social responsibility if any
• Add its award-winning listing (e.g. most profitable company in Taiwan in the year 20XX, the best Taiwan green-company based on its waste)
• Add the details of their products (such as describing new iPhone or Samsung Galaxy smart phones etc)
• If the company HQ/factory's building is unique enough, try to write the architectural story about it
• Create its own Wikimedia Commons page
• Create its Wikidata page, etc
• Try not to make the article without any existing links (for sure the company HQ or factory is located in any industrial area in Taiwan which has its Wikipedia article already, or for sure the company receive its raw material from some well-established supplier or the company supply the product (as sub-contractor) to any bigger well-established companies). Try to add more links to any existing Wikipedia articles.

I know you might use the reason this is just a newly established company with not much coverage in online news media. Well, thats the thing. If it is just still a small start-up company, Wikipedia is not really the place. The appropriate place should be on the company listing of the (let's say) Ministry of Economic Affairs of the Republic of China (經濟部), or under the Industrial Development Bureau (經濟部工業局) database. But the very least you can do (and wont get deleted) is to have the company Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons first, thus you need to have at least 2 photos (or logo) of the company first so that you can have the Wikimedia Commons category page.

Being tagged to be deleted is Very Very normal in Wikipedia if that article doesn't fulfill the minimum requirement to make an article. That's why, probably you can tell the company (if you are affiliated to the company) for them to have their Wikipedia page being kept in Wikipedia, they need to become more open on its detailed data, invite any Taiwan online news (Taipei Times, Taiwan News, China Post, Focus Taiwan etc) to write about the company or to cover about the company's activities, have the company's official Facebook page, official Twitter page, official Instagram page, official YouTube Channel etc, and also please also have the company annual sustainability report available for new and download on its official website with all of the detailed activities listed, and also if this is a public-listed company, have its financial statement be audited by public auditor and have it public-assessed enable also, so that we can have the details on its infobox information regarding its financial data (profit after tax, liability, revenue, income, asset, equity etc). In short, if you want a company to have its Wikipedia page (which is open to the public and public-domain data), you need to get the company to provide more and more data available for public viewing. That's the idea behind what Wikipedia is about. If the company is so secretive about themselves (with so many copyrighted materials and so many private and confidential data), then Wikipedia is not the place for them.

From your edit history, you only started to join and edit Wikipedia since only last month, and the article that you have written/edit is only about this semiconductor company. This can easily show you that you are a highly-affiliated person to this company, in which it might create a bias in terms of its contents (e.g. focus too much on the advertisement aspect of the company, instead of the general knowledge part) and you will get scrutinized more. That's why, you also need to add your "flying hours" in Wikipedia to edit so many other articles as well, such as other semiconductor companies in Taiwan, semiconductor companies in Mainland China or around the world, semiconductor technology and its latest products etc, or many industrial cluster area which focus on semiconductor technology, etc. You Need to contribute to the other aspect of the knowledge in Wikipedia because there are thousand other stub articles about Taiwan itself in Wikipedia, in both of the English and Chinese-language of Wikipedia. And lastly, make sure you create your own Wikipedia username page, so that people can have a talk and more discussion with you in your username talk page.

ROC CEC may not be the most universally agreed transliteration, but they are the only one who has the most Complete and comprehensive listing of Taiwan's villages (as the subdivision of districts or townships) in latin name, especially after any local election in Taiwan. If we were to refer to each of the individual district or township government's website, not all of the local government have the listing of their subdivision (villages), so there is no standardization here. Thanks for your response. "ROC CEC may not be the most universally agreed transliteration"- I believe I have shown on the Bali District page that their transliterations are terrible. They give at least three (seemingly) stupendously erroneous namings for the villages of the area. I agree that not every local government has a listing of villages, but I think we could offer Hanyu Pinyin, POJ etc. next to Chinese characters as a stop-gap measure in some cases (I am still working out how that would be done exactly- see my work at Songshan District, Taipei , Nangang District, Taipei and Wanli District, New Taipei. If you want to add the CEC's English names on those two pages, feel free to do so- I wasn't aware of how to look up villages on the CEC website when I worked on those pages (and am still not fully aware).) Hello again. I found what I see as yet another problem in the Central Election Commission's transliterations for the villages of Sanzhi District. I would like to make a note somewhere in the innards of Wikipedia (the style guide or somewhere?) that the CEC transliterations of the names of villages of the ROC (Taiwan) often include mistakes and shouldn't be relied upon as the actual official romanizations/transliterations. Hehe, it's ok. No need to "report" to me all the time whenever you wanna do edit/changes on Taiwan's townships or districts-related articles. Just do according to Wikipedia rules (e.g. have proper sources to back up that changes you made), and it should be good enough already :) Unless you need to heavily change (including delete) parts that was written by someone else before, then it might be good and polite to inform that person/editor for all the changes that you make to make the article becomes better (higher class in WikiProject evaluation). I am glad you are making articles like Jiaxian Bridge. That's important work. However, I would like you to consider digging a little deeper. I found three good sources that gave a specific English language name for Jiasian Petrified Fossil Museum. You're great, but all I'm saying is that sometimes some places have chosen an English translation they want, and we don't get to ignore their opinions just because there are also Chinese characters on the sign. They have to have a voice, otherwise the Taiwan articles will be in total chaos. Let Taiwan tell you want they want to use. Of course, if you can't find any specific English names, then you get to make up a name. I'm just saying that there are instances in which there are multiple names or an English name that uses Tongyong Pinyin etc, and those instances should all be 100% respected. {{nobold| & etc. rambling unsolicited opinions

Hey- I just noticed that we should probably use "{{nobold|" on some of the Chinese characters text in infoboxes. (see my edits here: [3], [4], etc). Also, I know that Hanyu Pinyin is official since 2009, but that doesn't mean history started in 2009- people will still be looking up the words they run into in books and online. We have to add those words to the articles, otherwise people who can't speak any Sinitic languages will be confused. For instance, Americans sometimes ask me what the difference between Peking and Beijing is etc. The readers need our help. I would like to encourage you to add the old words in parenthesis or by other methods. I know it is burdensome, but just ignoring the old words doesn't work- it just makes Wikipedia a poorer resource. You have probably been doing that, but I just want to encourage you again. That's just my two cents. Jiayou!

Well, as true Wikipedians, our job is only to write and convey factual statements written objectively 100% and in a neutral way. Our focus should be more on when Han starts his campaign, where are his area of focus on his campaign, who is his running mate, what is his program if he wins the ROC presidential elections, his works during Kaohsiung mayor term, etc. These are the hard-fact information that is badly needed for Wikipedia, in which one day all of these information can turn into a political science study. Han wave, people's opinion, some bad words/remarks from some people .. let's just put that aside out from Wikipedia, it is not of our main concern. Too bad nowadays newspapers only report mostly on these 'trivial' statement in which eventually it became a "public acceptance/understanding" that such information is the fact. While in reality, it is just soo trivial and with almost no importance at all. Glad that we are on the same boat on this. Question about maps

First of all- I just saw the will of CKS- very neat. I added a link to it on his English Wikipedia page. [6] Do you know where is his will "prominently displayed" in the CKS Memorial Hall? On the fourth floor? I would want to go see that.

Secondly, I would like to ask how you view the new map series ([7]) that I have uploaded. This week I tried to find at least one Wikipedia page for every one of the maps in this series; I've done everything from Pengjia Islet to Taitung so far. I'm thinking that this is a useful reference for people interested in this period in Taiwan history or the World War II period. In December around the holidays, I am thinking about doing this process for a second time so that every map in the series is found on at least two English Wikipedia pages. I also need to do more work on the pages for those maps in Wikimedia Commons so that they are more accessible. Let me know if you have any comments or suggestions.
