  Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Cyntoia Brown, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Samf4u (talk) 14:02, 21 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

COI

edit

  Hello, Candi Jones. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Bueller 007 (talk) 17:44, 27 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Alleged COI

edit

I am aware of the COI policy and I am in no way personally connected to the subjects. During the recent media flurry, I was simply taken aback that there was no information available on the subject J. Long on Wikipedia, so I decided to create the page. I made corrections to the wife’s page as I came across articles that had information on her as well. Everything that I gave contributed has been supported by references and there is nothing promotional in the articles. Candi Jones (talk) 18:10, 27 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

[1] Note the image source is "Own work". Note the author is "Jaime Lynn Long". Note that clicking on "Jaime Lynn Long" takes one to the user page for "Candi Jones". In addition, other edits [2] reveal intimate knowledge (i.e., what is on Brown's birth certificate) and your edits appear to have been overall promotional in nature. I apologize, that was not my intent. I thought that so long as I cited the source it was fine. It won’t happen again. Candi Jones (talk) 01:02, 27 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
