Bill Simmons edit

Didn't mean to revert you so quickly. Probably should have brought it to the talk page first. I summed up in my edit summary, but we can't take what Simmons said in a chat and interpret it, then put it in his article. If you want to further discuss, I'm of course willing. Gwynand | TalkContribs 15:29, 3 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Eh, to be honest, I could go either way. But, the preceding information about the controversy (in the wikipedia article) is an excerpt from a Bill Simmons e-mail that was printed on Deadspin.com. I'm not sure how a quote from Simmons during an ESPN.com chat is much different? Bjewiki (Talk) 17:21, 3 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
I thought the controversy came from an interview with Deadspin (even if through email). Even the chat item takes a leap of faith to interpret it. He obviously can't say anything outright negative against ESPN right on the site, and that message didn't really indicate things were patched up. Most importantly... we really don't interpret this stuff on wikipedia, that's left to the sources. Gwynand | TalkContribs 18:55, 3 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
Here's the original story [1]. I would classify it more as an e-mail exchange. In any case, i'm not going to put it back in (I didn't put it there originally), but I would think it would fair to say something like, "In a recent ESPN chat, Simmons referneced the situation by saying "<quote here>"...without making any judgements or interpretations (like the original editor did). Bjewiki (Talk) 19:02, 3 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
Actually, that would probably be OK. I'm not crazy about using his chat logs for anything, but clearly his quote was in response to the so-called controversy, so I guess it could be noted what was said, without interpretation. Gwynand | TalkContribs 19:03, 3 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

The CIA and the Cult of Intelligence edit

Hello. I'm contacting you and other members of WikiProject Books in order to find if you are interested in collaborating to expand and improve The CIA and the Cult of Intelligence article to make it worthy of becoming a featured article candidate, in light of the fact that it is the first book the U.S. government ever went to court to censor before its publication. --Loremaster (talk) 22:15, 24 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

WP:FILMS Questionnaire edit

As a member of WikiProject Films, you are invited to take part in the project's first questionnaire. It is intended to gauge your participation and views on the project. At the conclusion of the questionnaire, the project's coordinators will use the gathered feedback to find new ways to improve the project and reach out to potential members. The results of the questionnaire will be published in next month's newsletter. If you know of any editors who have edited film articles in the past, please invite them to take part in the questionnaire. Please stop by and take a few minutes to answer the questions so that we can continue to improve our project. Happy editing!

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Proposed deletion of Paul Ladewski edit

The article Paul Ladewski has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

NN sportswriter, BLP, the only sources presented are primary, no evidence he meets the GNG.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
