Arab Maghreb Union Member Country Edits - Africa Ref Removal edit

Thanks for adding the North Africa reference to the AMU members. However, you replaced Africa rather than adding North Africa (and mistakenly added Mauritania as a North African country, which it is generally not considered, exceptionally relative to the other AMU members). As the AMU countries are also African (as well as North African) by political identity (e.g. membership and active practical participation in pan African entities such as African Development Bank as local -i.e. African- members), it is not appropriate to simply replace North Africa w Africa. This should be an additional ref, rather than a replacement. (collounsbury (talk) 12:10, 26 December 2008 (UTC))Reply

[Duplicating response on my own talk page] A fair point with respect to templates, and above all clutter. Agreed on that. However, with respect to North Africa and Mauretania, I do not agree - I'm aware of the content, I wrote part of it. Mauretania is not typically included in North Africa in most usages. While all such line drawing is arbitrary, in my experience most regional analysts, development organizations and commercial entities group Mauretania - for practical reasons - with West Africa. Of course it is, with its mixed Arabo-Berber & Fula - Wolof backgrounds, a fence straddler, but I think the weight of usage would -if there is one template - fall on the West Africa rather than North Africa side. (collounsbury (talk) 14:05, 27 December 2008 (UTC))Reply
Excellent, agreed all around then. (collounsbury (talk) 11:29, 28 December 2008 (UTC))Reply

anti-arabism section edit

I can't be on wikipedia that often these days...for personal reasons, i don't have time to continue the work about the anti-arabism question in algeria.

If you want the debate, please wait sometime, i will return soon. But please wait before modifying the encyclopedia.

About the question of personal attaks, of course i accept your apologizes, but i repeat that i didn't say any personal, or racist remark(about my quote in french, i talked about the bad situation of non-arab/muslim minorities in the arab-majority countries...). It doesn't mean that "all" arabs are responsibles of this situation, but non-racism doesn't mean ignorance of some facts too !!

Translations edit

Hi Bestofmed,
I have recently remarked your efforts to launch a Wikiproject on Tunisia. I totally support you in these efforts but I would like to remind you that, in case of translation of articles (ex. from the French Wikipedia), you have to credit the original authors of the French article, in order to respect the GFDL licence. You should use Template:Translation/Ref to do this. Regards Moumou82 22:07, 14 February 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Moumou82 (talkcontribs) Reply

Hi Mourad, first, I want to express my appreciations for your comments and suggestions (this one and the one on Commons about the License). I started writing articles and sections about Tunisia lately by relaunching WikiProject Tunisia. I noticed that the French Wikipedia has some featured articles related to the country so I wanted to rely on it as a source of some material. This reliance usually does not take the form of a rough translation (with the exception of some sections such as Culture of Tunisia which needs a lot of work in the English Wikipedia). For instance in my efforts to find information about the Etymology of Tunis (and eventually Tunisia), I included material that is not mentioned in the French Wikipedia (I wish I can add it but my writing skills in French are not that good). In addition, I added an explanation provided by the French Wikipedia. There is a difference between citing, rephrasing and translating. Meanwhile, I will start to put the Template:Translation/Ref on top of wholly translated articles and will create a new template mentioning that some parts of this section are based on the French/Arabic Wikipedia. I wish we can unite our efforts (with WikiProject Tunisie) to improve Tunisia related articles. Cheers. ps: another copy was put on your talk page. I've seen your name on WikiProject of Tunisia. Do you speak Tunisian Arabic? I would like to know what is غرّيم محبوب in Tunisian Arabic. Is it really a sort of tuber (a special mushroom growing underground)? If it is, then which species exactly? HOTmag (talk) 03:21, 23 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
