Brentford 94-95 kit change detail edit

Hello. You removed my edit regarding the change from Hummel to unbranded kit, and the removal of the sponsor mid season. The references I used were digital copies of contemporary and official sources of information from the Brentford FC club programmes, and the edit was labelled 'poorly sourced'. Can you expand? Itchybowwow (talk) 08:02, 27 May 2020 (UTC) 1994–95 Brentford F.C. season#KitReply

I have reinstated the basic facts, concisely, with improved referencing. Beatpoet (talk) 10:21, 27 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for that, much appreciated. I just cleaned up the article replacing the referenced to 'kit' with 'shirt', as it was only the shirt that was manufactured by Hummel. Also Hummel made the replacement shirt but it was unbranded, as per the reference articleItchybowwow (talk) 19:04, 27 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I appreciate you know him but I advise you to read Wikipedia:No original research. If you know of a published source which backs up your new information, by all means update the page and cite the source, but original research doesn't stand on wiki I'm afraid. Not my rules, wiki's. Archie Turner edit

Thanks for your edits, but I don't understand why you altered the goals tally for his first period at Southampton. The englandfootballonline article clearly states "scoring 23 goals in 65 Southern League appearances", so I have partially reverted you, and added a reference to "All the Saints". Best wishes.   Daemonickangaroo2018 (talk) 16:58, 15 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

I corrected it Daemonickangaroo2018 as 11v11 shows he scored 17 league goals in his first spell at Southampton, plus 6 FA Cup goals. 17 + 6 = 23, so I believe All the Saints and englandfootballonline have mistakenly totalled up his goals in all competitions. Only league stats are counted in the infobox. Being an FA Cup finalist is not an "honour" either. Beatpoet (talk) 17:29, 15 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
11v11 is not very reliable when it comes to the Southern League, and I can assure you that the figures in the infobox are correct. Daemonickangaroo2018 (talk) 17:50, 15 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:People from Cleveland, England (before 1996) edit

A tag has been placed on Category:People from Cleveland, England (before 1996) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hey man, sadly there's no birth details, but a death date of 1944, which I presume is a war death? As for Queen of the South stats, again not much, just 1 league apppearance in 1934–35 and 8 in 1936–37. Beatpoet (talk) 15:25, 23 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Beatpoet: Can you please check Record of Pre-War Scottish League Players again, this time for a forward called Arthur Baxter? I'm creating his article next, and want to know whether he played in the Scottish League for Falkirk or Dundee. Thank you, Lettlerhello 16:31, 25 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

He did indeed, 40 league appearances and 10 goals for Falkirk between 1934 and 1936 and 96 league appearances and 43 goals for Dundee between 1936 and 1939. I've only given you infobox stats as I recommend you click here and arrange with Litster to buy the files! It's a quality resource. Beatpoet (talk) 16:47, 25 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

more Scottish footballers edit

Hey Beatpoet. I have two Scots for you to profile, Francis McEwan and Peter Monaghan. For the former, he was a pre-WW2 Airdrieonians player who went south to Tottenham and played three wartime games for them before service. He fought in Belgium in late 1944 and was killed on 21 September 1944. Here are some sources you can use:

For Monaghan, he seems to have guested for Kilmarnock during the war years. If you could find any statistics for him in Litster's book, I would appreciate it. Lettlerhello 17:09, 21 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hey man, I've updated Peter Monaghan with a couple of references. The only wartime stuff for him in Litster is 2 1939-40 appearances for Dundee United. I also cleaned the article up as we do not put wartime or 1939-40 stats in the career statistics box. 1939–40 stats do not go in the infobox either. It seems to be the done thing to leave wartime stats out of the infobox – I used to put wartime stats in them, but mods came along and removed them, so that was that. I created Francis McEwan at Frank McEwan. Again, there is nothing in Litster that isn't in the Hamilton reference. No Airdrie guest stats either. Beatpoet (talk) 00:14, 22 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Some time ago, you created the articles Walter Gadsby (footballer, born 1882) and Ernie Gadsby, two footballing brothers from Whittington, Derbyshire. Back then, Whittington, Derbyshire redirected to Old Whittington, but it has recently been made into a disambiguation page listing Old Whittington, New Whittington and Whittington Moor. Do you know in which Whittington they were born? Lennart97 (talk) 16:43, 3 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your reply. Doing a bit more searching, I found this website and this website both stating New Whittington as Ernie's place of birth. I added the Runners-up of league and cup to Honours roll.

I understand your view point but they are still achievements and worthy of mentioning and show the true story of what the man accomplished in his time at the club.

Dundee FC also mention Runners-up in the honours list.

Why do you not want them?

Fupa is not a reliable source edit

Hi there. Unfortunately, Fupa, which Raphael Assibey-Mensah relied upon heavily, is not a reliable source as its data is user-generated. Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 12:30, 5 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Ben Hockenhull edit

Please do not update match stats (whether a player’s or a club’s or a league table etc.) until the player’s involvement in the match has finished / the match itself has finished. That means (especially, for example, another goal is scored) that errors can be minimised. Many thanks. GiantSnowman 18:51, 18 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

November 2022 edit

Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Yoane Wissa, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use your sandbox for that. Lachlan Brook - Crewe Alexandria League Appearances edit

Hello! I saw you reverted my edit on Lachlan Brook citing that it should only include league appearances, which I’m aware of, and Soccerway shows that Brook did in fact make 34 league appearances for Crewe Alexandria:

I just checked Soccerbase and saw the same, 34, so God knows where those extra four came along, unless there was some balls up somewhere along the line. Either way, I've put it to 34, so apologies for the revert. Cheers. Beatpoet (talk) 13:35, 28 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
