Draft:Jean-François Gariépy

There is something weird going on here. You draftified a BLP of Gariépy. It is now in draft space and has also been edited by User:Auric. There is also a user named Jean-François Gariépy, whom I am not pinging, who made some controversial edits to Camille Paglia that wound up at DRN. A pop-up account then tried to become involved in the dispute as a volunteer, which looked suspicious. I reported the pop-up account to sockpuppet investigations. It isn't Gariépy, but it is linked to two other accounts, one of which is the author of the draft BLP of Gariépy. The three socks have been blocked, which means that the draft no longer has an author unless a neutral editor (yourself? Auric? me?) wants to work on it. I don't know whether the socks are a meatpuppet or ghostwriter for Gariépy, or are an enemy of Gariépy, who is a controversial right-wing figure. As I said, I don't know whether the socks are for or against Gariépy. Robert McClenon (talk) 20:20, 10 September 2019 (UTC)

Peach Pit (band)

You sure put a heck of a lot of work into trying to kill this article. Any reason why you choose (and continue to choose) to spend hours tagging and nagging this work instead of improving it one shred? Luke Kindred (talk) 05:47, 12 September 2019 (UTC) Keep up the good work BC - happy to see you added some sources today and toned down the bias a notch. Take it easy on the breaking news items, these people's whole careers are at stake here. Politics are ruthless! Luke Kindred (talk) 23:21, 12 September 2019 (UTC)

Greeting from Coreca thanks for Almost America and requests for improvement and translation for Sabrina Ferilli, Claudia Letizia and Coreca

Dear colleague and friend, Good morning from Calabria. I'm writing to greet you and know how you are. I'm doing pretty well for now. I wanted to thank you for the article Almost America, a film that moved me a lot a few years ago. I still keep the Canadian flag (red ensign of 1957) of the scene of the film that a friend sent me. Anyway, I need some help for some items to improve, I saw that you do it very well in French, certainly better than my bad English. I ask you to improve the page of Sabrina Ferilli, Coreca and Claudia Letizia. Then if I can do something for you, you ask what you like. I will translate it in Italian and in my dialect (both Sicilian and Neapolitan). Waiting for your response and hearing from you, I thank you again for the translation and creation of Almost America. with esteem and sympathy. Rachael Harder, MP Bio Page

Hi there, I work for MP Rachael Harder and was in charge of updating her bio page on Wikipedia. Those were the changes done in July and fixed again Sept 12. So I’m confused as to why those changes were again deleted and marked as spam locking her page. The information currently on there is not accurate and outdated which is why we updated with a more comprehensive look of her time in office over the last 4 years. Could we discuss how this bio page can be updated?

Warned Bankster on this; there was no vandalism, just their usual 'edits must be my way even though we don't use these UK terms in Canada' bluster and refusing to help the IP, along with a dose of WP:LAME. I found the IP's edits helpful and restored them; feel free to revert if you disagree yourself. Nate (chatter) 05:25, 16 September 2019 (UTC)

September 2019

Hello, and thank you for your efforts to improve Wikipedia! However, you should know that it is not a good idea to remove citations or information sourced through citations simply because a link to a source is not working, as you did to List of mayors of Woodstock, New Brunswick. Dead links should not be deleted. Instead, please repair or replace the link, if possible, and ensure properly sourced information is retained. Often, a live substitute link can be found. Links not used as references, notes or citations are not as important, such as those listed in the "External links" or "Further reading" sections, but bad links in those sections should also be fixed if possible. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Auric talk 18:42, 16 September 2019 (UTC)

Spacey source

Hi! Thank you for explaining the need for another source. I can’t easily access that talk page but this should cover it.

List of dramatic television series with LGBT characters

Fyi: Page size. Pyxis Solitary (yak) 00:56, 15 September 2019 (UTC)

The article was split. The discussion on how to do it was not an RfC, but I do not agree with how it was done and have stated so. Pyxis Solitary (yak) 01:51, 21 September 2019 (UTC)

Lusouser

It was exactly my 100,000th edit since I began 13 years ago, and the first block I've made for harassment. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 10:03, 20 September 2019 (UTC)

He says he creates other accounts to evade the blocks you made. CU doesn't match anything, but I've found and blocked one IP which is obviously (one of) his. What were the accounts you blocked? Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 02:58, 21 September 2019 (UTC)

Sorry to butt in. However I found myself on Kudpung's TP, reading about Arbcom. Scrolling up, I was astonished to learn (from Lusouser's post) that Bearcat is a "bear culture fanatic"! How did L arrive at that conclusion? Perhaps I shouldn't ask. As a straight (but not narrow) older female, I am partial to bear-like men, but Bearcat is obviously out of my league! Best, Tribe of Tiger Let's Purrfect! 06:03, 21 September 2019 (UTC)

Ricardo Costa stuff

You beat the clock. It appeared that 22 September 2019 would go by with no MFD nominations.

Your comments implied that the user is block evading. Is there a sock investigation?

We shall see whether the user resumes the personal attacks after they come off block. Robert McClenon (talk) 02:16, 23 September 2019 (UTC)

About deletion of Josh Rimer Stub

Hi Bearcat! Thanks for letting me know that, this Stub needs more citation. I have added what I got on the first page on Google news feed about him. And I am willing to add more sources and details here. Need to do a thorough web research. Thanks again for helping me improve its quality. Hope, I can improve it. About HRdownloads company page help requested

Hello Bearcat!

I am reaching out to you from HRdownloads, we are an HR software company in London, ON. We are looking to get a Wikipedia page to share our company story and, having seen your work, we’d like to ask you to write it. Wikipedia is growing and continuously adding new businesses, we would like to be a part of this movement. We’d be willing to give you a stub written by us so you have a starting place if that helps. Let us know if you’d be interested in writing about us, we hope to hear from you soon! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.183.143.22 (talk) 15:46, 26 September 2019 (UTC)

a minor point

Sitush's user page linked to this comment you made at Wikipedia:Village pump (policy). You're quoted!

I agree with your major point.

A minor point, and maybe you didn't mean this the way it sounded - don't local politicians only measure up to notability through GNG? We don't keep a list of cities large enough that their politicians also qualify for NPOL.

I don't think NPOL should be interpreted as only applying to people elected to state or federal office.

Maybe you didn't mention this, for brevity, but I think NPOL is best interpreted as applying to State/Provincial, or Federal officeholders, without regard to whether they were elected, or appointed, or even hereditary.

Here in Canada Cabinet members are almost always drawn from the House of Commons, occasionally, the Senate. But in the USA cabinet appointees are rarely sitting politicians. When they are, they resign their elected office. Cabinet members aren't the only appointments a newly elected President proposes. A POTUS makes over 3,000 political appointments, to subcabinet positions, like Secretary of the Navy, and to head 2999 lesser agencies.

In totalitarian countries, the entire administration is appointed. Geo Swan (talk) 15:50, 28 September 2019 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

  The Original Barnstar
Hi Bearcat. I'm not sure whether we've ever interacted, but I just wanted to stop by to thank you for your contributions to AfD. I don't look through AfD as much as I used to, but every time I pop in, I can be sure to find your name in the day's log somewhere accompanied by a thorough rationale that goes into the specifics of the article at hand. I often observe AfD participants writing one-line rationales like "Delete per nom" or "Keep per GNG" without giving enough detail to contribute to the discussion meaningfully. On the other hand, every time I see your signature, I know that I can expect to read an opinion that is carefully explained and researched and frequently decides the outcome of the discussion. Apology

Hello Bearcat,

Let me start by saying that I admire your dedication to the project and your countless contributions. I wanted to apologize because I think I used the wrong tone in my comments to you at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Wesley Weber. Quoting policy to someone with your track record was probably uncalled for, and I am sorry. It's no excuse, but the reason why I participated in the AfD was that I had undone various edits by IPs that were blanking the article while patrolling for vandalism so I got a chance to review some of the sources they tried to remove in the process and I added it to my watchlist to be sure they did not return to try it again. When the AfD was started by a new user, that obviously raised a red flag. My suspicion was that the new user and the various IPs may have been coordinated. Since we don't do SPI on IPs anymore and keeping AGF in mind I just added the notice about the user being novel. I must confess that I was expecting the AfD to receive only keep votes and that is why I rushed my answer to you. I should have let you know of my research on the topic in a more respectful way.

Since your last comment I have done an extensive rewriting of the article. I have expanded it and now all content is properly sourced. I would really appreciate it if you could take another look, and give me your feedback in case you find any remaining areas for improvement. Regards. --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 19:45, 29 September 2019 (UTC)

Orlando's Summer of Love discussion

Hey Bearcat (and Northamerica1000), Can you help me here? Besides the limited content of the stub (see WP:CONTN), and the tons of citations (see: WP:NEXIST), I wanted to ensure that I clearly understood the initial concern raised and whether it is resolved by the newer source so that a refunded article can be expanded and improved. see:

The original and specific WP:FAILN concern seemed to be that the term "Orlando Summer of Love" was coined by only one author in 1998. Second, despite the numerous reliable citations including national coverage and large quotes verifying the notability of this subject, there seemed to be some absurd concern that the era in Orlando was not notable either.(WP:NRV) Last, the state of the stub text was irrelevant to WP:GNG. (WP:CONTN, WP:NEXIST...)

However, some 19 years after the 1998 source described "Orlando's Summer of Love", WP:N was established by WP:SUSTAINED coverage when a new 2017 source from a different author was published describing the era which also uses this term.

The 2017 source was published between the two merge/delete discussions but was never discussed.

Please accept my apology and correct me if I have implied or stated something that is inaccurate. Thank you, Johnvr4 (talk) 14:47, 2 October 2019 (UTC)
