Deletion of Pedro Miguell

Bearcat, you proposed deletion of Pedro Miguel however you should reconsider. Pedro is really known inside the classical music world in Sweden and Denmark having played with most of the orchestras in Scandinavia. Is notable because having pieces played by Musica Vitae from Växjö or Norrkoping Symphoni orkester from Norrköping, is something that only the some composers achieve. Afterall the competition in Sweden is huge and the orchestras are not so many. You removed my edit for CBC radio regarding their announcement about interference

Why did you remove my addition to cbc radio and their mysterious, recent period announcements asking the listening audience of 93.5 fm London to report interference to the broadcast signal? You ask for a cite - what do I have to do , record the announcement and attach it as an audio clip? There are no local media reports to cite!!! I listen to this station for at least 4 hours a day, every day, and there have never been announcements of this nature EVER broadcast before, and these are now regular, on the hour, for the past month or two.

You think my addition should be added under the specific radio station call sign (CBLN - which by the way is NEVER identified on-air, probably contrary to CRTC rules) - but there is no wiki page for CBLN-FM. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.228.159.244 (talk) 12:06, 2 August 2016 (UTC)

Hi. I wanted to touch base about the Alex Deans AfD (having just noticed your Upworthy comment), and let you know that I am actually pretty new to the ropes--have only been editing regularly since June, extended confirmed last week. So if you didn't mind simply explaining how you saw the sources, that would have been helpful to me (still would be). Also, I know WP:BITEY is really very subjective and maybe you meant the comment in some other way I'm not seeing, but I wanted to let you know that just from my POV it was very discouraging, without much that's instructive to glean from it, to hear you consider that I've negatively distinguished myself in the entire history of Wikipedia editors. Global cities

I'm following off AfD on the global cities. Indeed, I've located the listing in the article on global cities, 2015 version. Winnipeg is listed as "Category 6 global city":

1. Alpha++ cities are London and New York City, which are vastly more integrated with the global economy than all other cities.
2. Alpha+ cities complement London and New York City by filling advanced service niches for the global economy.
3. Alpha and Alpha- cities are cities that link major economic regions into the world economy.
4. Beta level cities are cities that link moderate economic regions into the world economy.
5. Gamma level cities are cities that link smaller economic regions into the world economy.
6. Sufficiency level cities are cities that have a sufficient degree of services so as not to be obviously dependent on world cities.

I was frankly surprised to see some of the cities included in this category, such as Des Moines, Rocherster NY, Sacramento, Greensboro, etc. The article on Winnipeg proper does not make a reference to it being a global city. I am wondering if perhaps "category 6" is insufficient to make a city councillor presumed notable, and a new/revised consensus should be established? K.e.coffman (talk) 03:03, 16 August 2016 (UTC)

NMEDIA and Canada

Since NMEDIA is almost universally about US stations, we might want to put something in there about Canadian stations as well, like the VF stations being the Canadian equivalent of Part 15's. This will make it easier to cite NMEDIA for other countries. Thanks for that. :) What do you think about having seperate sections for US and Canadian stations in NMEDIA? Since there are differences, like VF stations and Part 15s, and our translators (does Canada have translators?) with various notabilities. Even though there are some similarities between our radio and television stations, there are differences too. I don't see how the differences between Canadian and American broadcasting are things that impact on a station's notability. Just like the debate last year about British radio stations, the differences that do exist aren't things that have notability implications — they're much closer to the level of different terminologies for things that are effectively the same as each other outside of their naming, and/or technical differences that have no notability consequences at all. Just because we call one thing a "rebroadcaster" instead of a "translator", or another thing "VF" instead of "Part 15", doesn't really make them different things that raise different notability issues — and just because the UK uses 9-channel AM instead of 10-channel AM has no bearing on the notability of an AM radio station. So I'm not sure why NMEDIA needs different country-specific sections just because some of the terminologies or technologies are different, if the notability implications of those differences aren't substantively affected at all. I don't think a station being in a certain country has anything to do with notable. What I think is there are different sets of stations in different countries, so there are different rules. I honestly thought VF stations were just translators and I know radio stations. Your everyday editor who isn't as up on radio and TV as we are might know less. So it would help to have country-specific information. UK information would also be good, but I don't know a thing about UK stations or know a UK editor who edits radio/TV stations. Hello, I read the article about Tony Penikett, on the categories there is a Category:People from Whitehorse, Yukon, Category:Whitehorse, Yukon city councillors and Category:Writers from Yukon. Where is the discussion that led to your statement that "Category:American DJs is for the kind of DJ who is an EDM or hip hop musician, not the kind of DJ who is a voice on the radio.".... ?? Given the number of changes you are making, it seems likely that a considerable number of editors must have taken a different view.
