Welcome! edit

Welcome to Wikipedia and nice work on creating the article for Liberation. I've reviewed the article and made some changes to it. Please visit the film taskforce and our talkpage if you have any questions. Thanks! Lugnuts (talk) 17:31, 2 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Cite web should be fine. The Russian wiki article has posters on it. Could be worth asking at the film talkpage. Good work! Lugnuts (talk) 14:28, 23 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

October 2010 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from Fritz Diez. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you.   Please do not remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Fritz Diez, without resolving the problem that the template refers to, or giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your removal of this template does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Thank you. Cindamuse (talk) 19:44, 3 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Before saving your changes to an article, please provide an edit summary for your edits. Sorry for taking so long - I've done some minor fixes and I've also posted a note on the film project's talkpage to see if others can cast their eyes on the article. Lugnuts (talk) 13:36, 1 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Liberation (film series) edit

Nice work on the Liberation (film series), just a tip, use cite web when referencing.. If you do that this article might have a shot at GA. Anyhow, keep up the good workl. --TIAYN (talk) 21:52, 15 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

I've fixed some problems with the article; I don't have time at the present, but I will help you with the remaining problems as soon as possible. --TIAYN (talk) 19:14, 25 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
I've fixed the references, uploaded a picture and fixed other problems. Before being assessed B-class it will need a proper copyedit. I could help you with this if you want, of course. So, do you want my help? --TIAYN (talk) 12:09, 26 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
I'll take a look. --TIAYN (talk) 16:05, 26 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
What's this suppose to mean; "In the field of cinema, the Khruschev Thaw productions centering on the individual experience of Soviet people involved in the Second World War gave way to state-oriented films reminiscent of the Stalinist war epics." Is the sentence trying to say that the Khrushchev Thaw led to the production of films reminiscent to those produced under Stalin? --TIAYN (talk) 16:27, 26 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
You use many quotes, which is good, however, the bad part is that you don't tell who is saying these quotes. Saying the film was exceptional without telling who said it might could be intepreted as a little biased. --TIAYN (talk) 16:39, 26 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
Okay, just be sure to copyedit thet text you are readding. On another note, the section "Other media" contains unnotable information, and the "Historicla inaccuracies" section reads like a Trivia section. And you should merge the "Critical response" section with the "Victory Day celebration" section. The VDC section is to small, either you expand it, or remove it or merge it. --TIAYN (talk) 07:45, 27 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
And yes, the plot section should be reduced significantly. Second, the lead must be expanded, and thirdly, you should avoid writing one-sentence paragraphs; you should merge all (or at least, the good majority) of the one-sentence paragraphs in the article, or of course, simply remove them. --TIAYN (talk) 08:18, 27 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
I've rewritten the lead, and removed the references from the lead; a lead should doesn't need to be referenced seeing that everything in the lead is referenced in the main body of the article. --TIAYN (talk) 08:39, 27 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
My lead contains error; your lead IS to short.. Take a look at leads for Good Articles at wikipedia, such as Toy Story, JFK (film) or, for example, the Soviet film, Solaris (1972 film). Your lead is to short, if you can't expand the lead, the article can't be a GA. However, what has become clear is that i can't write these things for you, I don't know the material enough! Fix it if you want it to become a GA.
And yes, the historical inaccuracy section may be important, but it should be written into normal pharagraphs, and not dots (*). + To show notability there must be someone who has written about these inaccuracies, not that you, or someone famous knows this film is historical inaccurate. Just write the historical inaccuracy section normal, and references it. --TIAYN (talk) 10:12, 27 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
No problem, and I wish you luck. --TIAYN (talk) 16:29, 27 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:Liberation (film poster 1970).jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Liberation (film poster 1970).jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Courcelles 04:20, 24 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for File:Galadzhev.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Galadzhev.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 20:05, 30 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Fair use image edit

You'll have to remove some of those fair use images; it's against wikipedia policy of using fair use images when they are not really needed. Example, the fair use image of each Part is really unecessary. Just saying, might just fix it now, instead of later! --TIAYN (talk) 12:01, 1 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

East German movies edit

HI. I wondered if you could expand 1960-1990 of List of East German films?♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:52, 28 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Excellent work, oh they can be put alpha order eventually. Would you like me to start the remaining missing films? I expanded a few like A Berlin Romance but the rest are still short stubs. You might find it easier just to add to what I start. I'm happy to start the red links you added from 1960 to 1990.♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:50, 29 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

I'll create the rest of the articles later. Its great to see some interest in an area which as you say is neglected. They can be expanded gradually. Feel free to red link actors in the tables in the list too and i'll see what I can do. Keep up the good work!♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:34, 29 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Sindinero (talk) 15:16, 22 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Well, I hadn't thought that far ahead, but I don't see that it would necessarily be a bad thing to be inclusive. The template is collapsible, and some of these category templates at the bottom of articles can actually be quite huge. I'm fine with adding things to the list as they come up - we can start with films we know, and ones that are so notable that they shouldn't be left out, and go from there. But no, I'm not planning, at least for the moment, on systematically adding every single title. What do you think would be best? Should we also have a category in the template for directors? CSD edit

Hello Bahavd and thanks for patrolling new pages; however, you tend not to notify articles' creators that their articles have been tagged for speedy deletion. There is strong consensus that the creators of articles so tagged should be warned and that the person placing the tag has that responsibility. All of the major speedy deletion templates contain a pre-formatted warning for this purpose—just copy and paste to the creator's talk page. Thank you and happy editing. The fall of Berlin edit

Hi there! No bother at all. The best place to ask for this would be WikiProject Soviet Union, but, unfortunately, it hasn't been very active lately. There is also WikiProject Georgia—I don't know how active it is, but it's worth a try. And, of course, you could ask at WT:RUSSIA, although the activity level there is not very high either, and I don't think we have users at the moment who are interested in cinematography. Still worth a shot, I'd say. As for me personally, I'm afraid I'm not going to be of much help in this area, as it's not something I know much about. Sorry!—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); October 4, 2011; 13:24 (UTC)

I echo Ezhiki's statement - no bother at all!. Hmmm, probably best starting a topic at WT:FILM, just to get some general comments/improvements from the film people. Not that familar with the GA process though, and I believe it's all down to being patient until someone comes along to review said article. Good luck! Lugnuts (talk) 17:47, 4 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks edit

Thanks for you message Bahavd Gita. I looked at that ref "after" I had made my edit summary and saw where the title had come from. Before that I had been to IMDb to try and fix the EL that had no number in it (and thus did not work) and had come across this title [1] so I thought there might be some confusion over the two. However, we don't have an article for the 1944 film (yet) so I guess that there isn't anything to worry about. Thanks for taking the time to look into this - it is much appreciated. Cheers and happy editing. MarnetteD | Talk 18:12, 2 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Adolf Hamann edit

Please note that your recent edit to the article about Adolf Hamann contains an error. According to your edit, Groß Laasch would have been situated in the Province of Pomerania (1815-1945), and not in Mecklenburg-Schwerin (as it actually was).

This source [2] (to which there is a link in the article) states quite clearly: "Adolf Hamann wurde am 3. September in Groß-Laasch bei Ludwigslust in Mecklenburg geboren." More precisely, in Mecklenburg-Schwerin, as this source makes clear: [3] (Groß Laasch, Landkreis Ludwigslust, Mecklenburg-Schwerin).

The same information can be obtained with a glance at the maps contained in these articles:

First, the location of Groß Laasch.

Then, Mecklenburg-Schwerin.

Then, the Province of Pomerania (1815-1945).

As you can see, the case is quite obvious. Monegasque (talk) 09:34, 16 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
