Hello, Back ache, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!  Samw 17:34, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

Hello, and welcome! I've renamed your article "0-10v" to 0-10V lighting control because:

  • standard usage is to use a capital letter V as the abbreviation for volts
  • voltages from 0 to 10V are used in other fields, and the original titles is possibly ambiguous

Category revertEdit

I reverted your change to Category:1590s plays and removed Category:Plays. That category was already included in the category hierarchy (through 16th century plays which is in Plays by year which, finally, is in Plays). Cheers, Cleduc 22:48, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

Saucy Jack and the Space VixensEdit

I reverted your recent edit to the Saucy Jack article. I am not sure if you are using English as a second language or if you were just typing too fast, but your addition was incomprehensible. Please be more careful (perhaps use the preview function) or discuss your changes with an editor with fluency in English before adding similar text to articles. Thanks. Joe WilkinsonEdit

A tag has been placed on Joe Wilkinson, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. -- Awadewit | talk 23:21, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

Caroline CliffordEdit

An {{afd}} tag has been placed on Caroline Clifford, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. All Wikipedians can join the debate at Articles for deletion, where articles asserted to be inappropriate to Wikipedia are discussed. You are encouraged to submit your opinion, and remember that Articles for Deletion debates are not a vote. You can also leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the deletion tag yourself, but don't feel inhibited from editing the article, particularly if doing so makes it clear that it is a useful contribution to an encyclopaedia. London Meetup - January 12, 2008Edit

Hi! There's going to be a London Wikipedia Meetup coming Saturday January 12, 2008. If you are interested in coming along take part in the discussion over a Wikipedia:Meetup/London7. The discussion is going on until tomorrow evening and the official location and time will be published at the same page late Thursday or early Friday. Hope to see you Saturday, Poeloq (talk) 01:32, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Invitation to Wikipedia meetup in LondonEdit

Date: 13:00 onwards, Sunday 10 August 2008

Venue: Penderel's Oak pub, Holborn WC1 map

More information: Wikipedia:Meetup/London 12

Hello,

I noticed that you have listed yourself as a Wikipedian in London, so I thought you might like to come to one of our monthly social meetups. The next one is going to be on Sunday 10 August, which might well be rather short notice, but if you can't come this time, we try to have one every second Sunday of the month.

If you haven't been before, these meetups are mainly casual social events for Wikipedia enthusiasts in which we chat about Wikipedia and any other topics we fancy. It's a great way to meet some very keen Wikipedians, but we'd also love for you to come along if you're interested in finding out more about Wikipedia, other Wikimedia projects, or other collaborative wiki projects too.

The location is a pub that is quite quiet and family friendly on a Sunday lunchtime, so hopefully younger Wikipedians will also feel welcome and safe. Alcohol consumption is certainly not required!

Although the meetups are popular, many UK-based editors still don't know about them. It would be great to welcome some fresh faces, so I hope you can come along.

Yours,

James F. (talk) 09:27, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

Please forgive the slightly impersonal mass-invite!

Speedy deletion of Gavin OsbornEdit

A tag has been placed on Gavin Osborn, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Undead Warrior (talk) 02:39, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of FORA.tvEdit

A tag has been placed on FORA.tv requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for web content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Speedy deletion nomination of NEXOEdit

You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

A tag has been placed on NEXO requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

Unreferenced BLPsEdit

Hello Back ache! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 1,625 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

charging currentEdit

Reverted SAE J1772 - the given reference "Norme International CEI/IEC International Standard 62196-1" (PDF). International Electrotechnical Commission. 2004. Retrieved 2009-06-07. on page 13 does clearly state

This part of IEC 62196 is applicable to plugs, socket-outlets, connectors, inlets and cable assemblies for electric vehicles, intended for use in conductive charging systems which incorporate control means, with a rated operating voltage not exceeding: – 690 V a.c., 50 – 60 Hz, at a rated current not exceeding 250 A;

– 600 V d.c., at a rated current not exceeding 400 A.

Since you seem to do some research with other articles it is a surprising that you have not read the referenced source - or do you have another source that does contradict the IEC document? Guidod (talk) 11:02, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

I did just read the article IEC 62196 and it wrong in many many ways. The text contradicts its referenced sources and the "connector" section describes a very different connector (reference goes to J1772) while it obviously wants to talk about the Mennekes connector. However the IEC standard 62196-1 has nothing to do with physical parameters - it is about the charging current specs and a way to master the problem with a resistor encoding in the plug (while CEE form IEC 60309 plugs have solved the charging current encoding problem by using a housing of different diameter). Running the Mennekes connector under the IEC flag is misleading IMO. Guidod (talk) 11:27, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

ElektromotiveEdit

Hi there,

I have reverted the addition of external links to the Elektromotive article, as they are not compatible with the policy on external links at WP:EL, notably, under links to be avoided point 13 ("Sites that are only indirectly related to the article's subject") and 14 ("Lists of links to manufacturers, suppliers or customers").

I don't think that adding external links to competitors adds anything to the article, and in most cases, adding internal wikipedia piped links doesn't add anything either. The result could be (and sometimes is) pointless very long lists.

In this particular case, there are dozens of charge point infrastructure companies, at various stages of commercialisation, some of which are notable (Coulomb probably - in fact they do have an article at Coulomb Technologies) and some of which probably aren't (Park and Power I suspect), but the logical outcome of these lists is huge and pointlessly weighty articles.

On the other hand, the creation of a page such as List of electric vehicle charge point infrastructure companies would probably be fine, and that could be linked in the see also of all the manufacturers articles.

Hope that makes sense, any questions, let me know.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Wcheck (talk) 22:04, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of ServodriveEdit

The article Servodrive has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable company. Article is written like an advertisement and the only given source is a dead link.

Signing your postsEdit

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --Orange Mike | Talk 16:22, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

removed your Charging Station irony paragraphEdit

I don't think a BBC report of an uncited unnamed uncredited Nissan official summarizing something else should be one of the opening paragraphs of Charging station. Also "is quoted" is weak passive voice, it leaves it unclear who's doing the quoting (the BBC's Richard Scott in being lazy in not identifying Nissan's source). Also when providing a ref, please use Template:Cite web.

It is an interesting finding, so It would be great if you could do the work the BBC didn't to find out the actual research report. I think it fits better in the section Deployment of public charging stations. I tried to find the original for 15 minutes and Google wouldn't cough it up, though it did find Honda (a car maker without an EV) is dubious whether public charging stations are needed.

WikiProject Stagecraft NewsletterEdit

The WikiProject Stagecraft Newsletter (October 2010)
The WikiProject Stagecraft Newsletter!
Issue 1 - July, 2010

Hello and welcome to this, the first ever edition of the WikiProject Stagecraft Newsletter! If you haven't been over to the WikiProject page lately then you're missing out - the whole thing has undergone a complete makeover - see below for more info!
On top of this, we have brand spanking new templates (such as this one) and a completely revamped Collaboration of the Month - again, see below for more info on all of this.
Finally, a warning - the new-look WikiProject is still having the finishing touches put on it. If you find something that doesn't work, you don't agree with or is just plain missing, please don't hesitate to let us know on the WikiProject's talk page. We'll try our very best to fix ASAP!

New Look

As mentioned above, the WikiProject has recently undergone a spring-clean and we're excited about it! If you don't mind - we'd like to take this opportunity to explain some of the features and generally show off about it a little.

  • Colour scheme All pages on the WikiProject now use two consistent shades of blue as part of the new streamlined interface (Those techies amongst us may wish to know that the precise names of the colours we use are: "lightblue" for headings and "#c0e0e0" for backgrounds).
  • Navigation Menu Every page on the WikiProject now has the official WikiProject navigation menu so you can easily flick between pages and get back to the main project page. Say goodbye to clicking the back button several times!
  • To Do list/Open Tasks If you're stuck on what to do to help us then a list of the most important tasks is now available on the main page. At the moment, the list is looking a little short so if you have found something that you think ought to be added, then feel free to edit the list and let us know. Please refrain from linking to a specific article that generally needs an overall update. Single articles like this should be nominated for a future Collaboration of The Month - see below.
Templates

All of the project's templates are now arranged in one handy page. Whilst we were going through we also noticed one was missing. We have now added the new template in the form of:

  • {{WPStagecraft Newsletter}} - the template containing the latest edition of the WikiProject Newsletter (you're looking at it now!)
Collaboration of the Month

Ok, so this isn't exactly a new feature. It's always been there but has never really been updated on a, ahem, monthly basis. The Collaboration of the Month (COTM) is now in template form to enable it to be streamlined across the Project, without having to be manually updated on each page. Don't worry if we've lost you at this point - the point is, it works! You can now nominate an article for COTM on the COTM page. The more sharp-eyed amongst you may well have noticed that the COTM at the moment is still that old fella, Stage lighting. That's because no-one has nominated a COTM for this month (being a new feature an' all...) so we've decided to leave it as it is for this month until a new one has been democratically voted for.

And finally...

Thanks very much for reading down this far - hopefully future newsletters won't be this long! Please, if you can, invite new members and drop us a line over at the talk page to let us know what you think of the new look/newsletter and any suggestions you may have.

You have received this newsletter because your name is on the list of Participants on the WikiProject page. If (like most of the old WikiProject) this information is out of date and you no longer wish to receive the newsletter, please remove your name from the Participants list and also click here to stop receiving the newsletter.

To stop receiving this newsletter, or to receive it in a different format, please let us know here.
To view previous editions of the newsletter, click here.
If you have any news or any announcements to be broadcast, do let us know on the talk page.

File permission problem with File:SouthLondonTheatre.jpgEdit

Why not use this instead?

Thanks for uploading File:SouthLondonTheatre.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. AndreasPraefcke (talk) 22:38, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Cult of celebrityEdit

The article Cult of celebrity has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Article fails WP:NOR, WP:SYNTH, WP:NPOV and WP:RS. Arbitrary list of celebrities to whom this exact term may or may not have been applied. Introduction is full of original research and invites more of the same. Subject is better covered under existing articles; useful content, if any, can be merged.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.   Thank you for your contributions. Please remember to mark your edits as "minor" only if they truly are minor edits. In accordance with Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes, or rearrangement of text without modification of content. Additionally, the reversion of clear-cut vandalism and test edits may be labeled "minor". Thank you. SummerPhD (talk) 22:57, 15 September 2012 (UTC)

Windows AzureEdit

Hi, I've just removed your addition of "Data as a Service" from the Windows Azure article. DaaS is a relatively new concept and of course there is a risk that the vendor is for marketing reasons announcing this before it is a verifiable feature. If you can find a reliable source for the claim, please restore it. By "reliable source" I mean an recognized commentator who (1) isn't Microsoft; (2) isn't a Microsoft partner or other potentially biased party; and (3) is examining the claim in some depth rather than simply reprinting a press release. Thanks and happy editing - Pointillist (talk) 21:38, 2 July 2013 (UTC)

Deletion discussion about Myriam JoireEdit

Hello, Back ache,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Myriam Joire should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Myriam Joire .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

January 2015Edit

Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Fluoride toxicity, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. It's not necessary to capitalize the name of a wikilink (iodine is internally known to mean the Iodine article). And it's not appropriate to capitalize a term just because it's an article. February 2015Edit

Thank you for your edit to the disambiguation page ATU. However, please note that disambiguation pages are not articles; rather, they are meant to help readers find a specific article quickly and easily. From the disambiguation dos and don'ts, you should:

  • Be familiar with the guidelines and style
  • Only list articles that readers might reasonably be looking for
  • Use short sentence fragment descriptions, with no punctuation at the end
  • Use exactly one navigable link ("blue link") in each entry
    • Only add a "red link" if used in an article, and include the "blue link" to that article
  • Do not pipe links (unless style requires it) – keep the full title of the article visible
  • Do not insert external links or references

Thank you. Widefox; talk 01:16, 5 February 2015 (UTC)

AdviceEdit

Back_ache, We see that you've edited a number of legal articles on Wikipedia (law firm pages, legal marketing, etc). We are looking for advice on how to get a Wikipedia article for Lawyer.com and you seem like an expert in the space. If you can help with advice, we have provided all the secondary articles about our company below and a draft for an article. We see that company employees should not publish related Wikipedia articles, but we are not clear what type of editor might take an interest in our company. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Proposed deletion of Flying Saucer Rock'n'RollEdit

The article Flying Saucer Rock'n'Roll has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No evidence that this is a notable spoof film.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

NO, because it is obviously not a reliable source. Even if it it were, content should not just be jammed into article ledes, which are meant to summarize sourced material in the article body. Alexbrn (talk) 09:10, 7 June 2018 (UTC)

Your draft article, Draft:Zipline InternationalEdit

Hello, Back ache. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Zipline International".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. JMHamo (talk) 09:04, 12 April 2019 (UTC)

Lingua LibreEdit

Hello Back ache,

I saw that you have contributed on Wikimedia by recording words on Lingua Libre. I work on this specific project for Wikimedia France and I would be interested in having your feedback to know what aspects we need to work on to make the tool more effective. The goal is to make Wikimedia projects more oral and thus inclusive to various languages. Would you be interested in sharing your experience on LL with me? -- eavqwiki 12:38, 30 September 2019 (UTC)

Yes, of course.

I am happy to chat,

My initial thoughts are

  • I would like not to go through the screens to check my details and test my microphone *everytime* and just choose to run them when something has changed
  • I would like my recording to be automatically be added to English resources as they are currently to French resources, part of my motivation is to help people learning English so want make them as visible as possible
  • I *love* the feature to remove any duplicate I was about to record.
  • Generally I think its a great tool and makes being a volunteer easy.

Back ache (talk) 12:26, 30 September 2019 (UTC)

Great :)

I will make sure to forward your comments when working on fixing technical issues with the platform. I also think implementing bots to Wiktionaries and Wikipedias in more (all?) languages recorded on Lingua Libre would be ideal.

If you haven't already, it'd be nice if you could fill this form in: https://framaforms.org/enquete-lingua-libre-1569573296

And if you are still interested let me know when you'd be free to chat more in depth about the use of Lingua Libre.

Eavqwiki (talk) 9:20, 3rd October 2019 (UTC)

Adding it using bots are great, I would add wikidata as something to add it to as well.

I have filled out the form.

I am a parent so am happy to talk once the kids are in bed!

Speedy deletion nomination of Template:Terminology InfoboxEdit

A tag has been placed on Template:Terminology Infobox requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion because it is an unused duplicate of another template, or a hard-coded instance of another template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is not actually the same as the other template noted, please consider putting a note on the template's page explaining how this one is different so as to avoid any future mistakes.

This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion".
