You accepted a decent draft, Retzawl, Assam, but the editor is exhibiting great signs of WP:OWN. I suspect it may be a language problem, though the editor also appears to have been the headmaster of one of the schools there (the history will show you that). I seem unable to get them to listen to me regarding many things, and wonder off you might have the extra clout in their eyes as accepting reviewer. I want them to avoid a block. We are allowed real lives . If you could take a peek every so often after their block lifts (ardour 1900UTC, which in practical terms with their putative timezone means they will be back on Sunday UTC, I would appreciate someone other than me trying to help them. They seem to have a bad case of WP:ICANTHEARYOU I fear. However, to may be a language issue. Being ale to wrote Nglish and being able to understand unexpected English are two different things. Hello Anne, I have seen in some Articles for Creation that you often drop a comment reviewing the notability of the subject. I would like to have your opinion on two articles.

First: Draft:Tom Cridland. I believe he is notable because of his shirt, as per WP:ARTIST 2, 3, 4c. Second: Draft:Francis Bitonti. His work has been widely reviewed and he is considered an authority in 3D printed clothes.

Also, for permanent collection of an artist. Does a permanent collection always makes one notable? Or is it some specific museums or institutes? Is there a list of such institution on Wikipedia.Susana Hodge (talk) 04:36, 2 December 2015 (UTC)

Hello, Susana Hodge. The first two drafts haven't been improved since they were submitted for review and declined. It would be wise as well as respectful to the reviewers to make some improvements before asking for another assessment. How about adding [1] and [2] or similar for the first one. Particularly look for information that is not about the guarantee, to show that he is notable aside from the one thing which caused flash-in-the-pan news. The second one could use improvement in the citations - they have titles but don't show the name of the publication or the date. Some of them may not be independent, reliable sources.

I'm afraid that I am not very knowledgeable about the art world. I'm pretty sure though, that just any permanent collection doesn't guarantee notability (I could create one in my house or donate some artwork for the wall of my local public library). For a better answer, I suggest asking at WT:WikiProject Visual arts.

It looks as though Ricky81682 is helping improve the fourth one. I removed some "puffery". Please note that in articles where the subject is quoted, only the text written by the journalist counts as a reference - the subject's own words are not fact-checked by an editor, just written verbatim. If the journalist doesn't say much about the subject, the reference is useless except maybe to bolster a statement that he/she is frequently quoted in the press (if true).—Anne Delong (talk) 17:21, 2 December 2015 (UTC)

I will go to the visual arts project with my questions about artists from now on. And sorry for the Leah Zell article. The lady is definitely notable, so I will work in AFC on an article about her and then submit it for review. In the meanwhile, please delete the article.

I saw you editing Draft:Philip A. Amerson. Do you think he is notable? I want an article to work on. Are all the drafts you work on notable subjects? Would it be okay if, from time to time, I take declined articles that you are working on in the AFC, fix them and submit them for review? Susana Hodge, I think Amerson is likely notable, but my edits were mainly to remove inappropriate personal opinions; I hadn't done a serious search for references. Oh yes, I did see that. That's what got me to write about her. Anyway, I am way too demotivated to work on Leah Zell's article. There's one more article that I want you to take a look at for me. Draft:Remitly, Inc. I believe the company is notable because of 1, 2, 3, and 4. And there are tons of other sources that talk about the money they have raised. I worked on the draft, submitted it for review. The first reviewer said that the article has NPOV issues, so I talked to them and fixed the issues. The next time I submitted, the reviewing editor said that the subject is not notable. I only worked on this because out of all the drafts, this appeared to have received the most coverage. How do I determine that a subject is notable? Because according to me the company should be notable as per the notability guidelines, but it's not. Hello again, [User:Susana Hodge|Susana Hodge]]. I'm pretty sure that this is notable and will be accepted soon. It's really a small but growing company that is doing a lot of aggressive promotion. A lot of the sources are information taken directly from press releases with minimal rewording. They are still useful, since in most cases a journalist is involved, but don't count as much as if a business writer had taken it upon him/herself to find information about the company and write about it without prodding.

Sometimes press releases aren't marked as such, but there's one way to spot them: because they are widely distributed, the same text appears in many places. For example, if you type "Remitly offers a cheaper, easier way " (The headline from the Seattle Times story) into Google, you will come up with quite a number of hits.

There are a lot of references to GeekWire. Often publications ending in "wire" just print paid press releases, so this may have influenced the reviewers negatively; however, I checked with the Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard and was told that GeekWire is an acceptable source for factual information.

By the way, the source provided doesn't say that Remitly was one of the "hottest" startups. That language is used in other articles that don't mention Remitly. Also, "hottest could mean anything and the article should be more specific - fastest growing? most innovative? most profitable? or what?—Anne Delong (talk) 16:59, 3 December 2015 (UTC)

Ah, thankfully someone thinks that I worked on a notable subject. Thank you so much. I don't want to move it to the main space myself. I want to submit it and get it approved. There is a satisfaction that comes from having your work approved. Earlier, I moved a draft to mainspace after it was rejected, but now I want some reviewer to tell me that "you have done a great job!" May be I am being a little too needy? Anne, is the Seattle Times source a press release? All those links that appear in the Google search ST's article title actually point back to ST's article. May be they are some sort of news aggregating website. If it's a press release, please let me know and I will remove it from the draft.

Hi Robroy602. If you are the subject of the article, then you should avoid editing it now that it's in mainspace. Instead you should declare a conflict of interest on the talk page and write there about any changes or additions that you think should be made. (I face the same problem with the Mandolin Society of Peterborough article, because I am a member.) You could, though, upload a photo to Wikimedia Commons, but the person who does the uploading has to own the copyright, and be willing to give it up to Wikipedia. It's tricky to take a good picture of yourself, and headshot/selfie is not as interesting as one showing a notable activity (conducting for example). You could ask a friend to take a photo, make an account and upload the picture. If you do, I will add it to the page for you, provided that it's appropriately neutral (no holding up a can of your favourite soda...)—Anne Delong (talk) 14:56, 2 January 2016 (UTC)

Hello, Ralahar. Thanks for disclosing your conflict of interest. Sorry, I have a huge list of drafts that I am working on, so I'm not ready to take on a new project just now. I also prefer to write my own material.

The page that you pointed out seems to me to be an advertisement for a residence building at a university. It needs an overhaul for neutral point of view, but this would be hard to do because there are no news reports, magazine articles or books referenced from which to draw neutral information, and to show that the college is notable enough to have an article separate from the university in the first place. If you find some of these, written by journalists or professional authors not connected by the college or any sponsoring organization, I will add them for you. —Anne Delong (talk) 03:16, 13 January 2016 (UTC)

Dear Anne,

its me again, Sindy. You gave me some help last year with my article about the "Editta Braun Company", which is still not on line. :-( You gave me the advice to ask for help on the page "Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Ballet", which I did in April last year. But still now nobody answered. Since my English is not the best, that I would understand everything which is explained about writing articles in Wikipedia and I am also not experienced in that, I still do not know what to do, that our article about the dance company can be on line. It is really a pitty. The German article was on line immediately after creating. On the English Wikipedia it rests already two and a half years without success. :-( Please, could you help us once more? Maybe you know somebody who can rewrite the article in the way it will be accepted?

Dear Sindy: I have edited the article to acceptable format, but to do so I had to remove a lot of subjective description and tributes to individuals, which would be better in a magazine article or on the company's web site. I also added some references. Wikipedia:Article Incubator/Greenhouse

There is interest in several places across Wikipedia right now in the issue of stale drafts.

The Greenhouse was a project whose purpose was to prevent articles in the incubator from going without community attention for more than a year.

The Greenhouse was not a theory, as it was implemented and working.

Two days before it was nominated for deletion, I had attracted a 2nd regular to the effort.  This was never a personal project, and it was always an extension of WT:AI.  The closer of that MfD has not been active on Wikipedia for six months.

I see that you are an administrator, which means that you are able to look at this red link and see what is there.

Would you agree to restore this page and boldly mark it historical?  This would allow editors to discuss a working solution to the problem of stale draft pages.  Thank you, Unscintillating (talk) 00:57, 27 January 2016 (UTC)

Hello, Unscintillating. I followed the discussion at the time, and I don't feel I should go against the community consensus. I think you should post this at Wikipedia:Deletion review, ask for a new consensus and show why a separate area from WP:AI is needed. There is also Wikipedia:WikiProject Abandoned Drafts now which may overlap. I do a lot of work on abandoned drafts myself, so I agree that it's important to deal with them properly.—Anne Delong (talk) 17:46, 27 January 2016 (UTC)

• Thanks for the reply.  WP:AI is marked with Template:Historical, [3].  Adding Template:Historical was what I meant when I mentioned "boldly marking it historical".  Without suggesting that it is something you might do, do you have a problem with having this page marked, "This page is currently inactive and is retained for historical reference"?  Unscintillating (talk) 00:46, 28 January 2016 (UTC)

If you come to another one I've had my hand in, you needn't take the time to notify me; I am keeping a list of all the ones I've postponed but not finished with (and another for graduates/dropouts), so I would see the red link. Hello, Pundit. Thanks for taking the time to notify me about the problem. I have merged the content of the draft with the newer mainspace article you made. Since the draft was not created by me, though, it was a fussy job maintaining the copyright attribution; after selectively moving the text and references I had to hide the original edits under a redirect and post merge templates on the two talk pages.

I hope that next time you will consider checking to see if there is already a draft in progress, improving it and moving it to mainspace instead of creating a second page about the same subject. It's much easier to keep track of who wrote what that way, and doesn't waste the efforts of other editors. I hadn't yet moved the draft myself because I felt that it needed more citations to independent sources; since the article you created didn't have any of those, the resulting merged article is still weak in this area. If you are familiar with anthropology academic sources, perhaps you can find some journal articles written by other anthropologists which mention her work.—Anne Delong (talk) 17:39, 3 February 2016 (UTC)

Honestly, the draft was left defunct for 3 years. I created the stub basing on the sources I was able to find - it is a good practice to be bold and create articles, even if short, on the topics that our readers may want to seek information about. One of the benefits of Wikipedia is that people expand stubs, but stubs are important to make it possible. Thanks for expanding it! Pundit, I think we will continue to disagree. I won't be creating any stubs without independent sources. There are too many of these already, and until sources are found there is no way to know if the subject is notable. Closely connected sources don't establish that. Stubs where only COI sources are to be found are just WP:AFD fodder. I'm puzzled though, if you realized that the draft was there and thought it should be in mainspace, why you didn't just move it there. I had assumed that you didn't see it.

By the way, I do add to mainspace. Here is a list of drafts that I have improved which are in mainspace now, most of which I have moved there myself.—Anne Delong (talk) 21:46, 3 February 2016 (UTC)

Hello, Captain Spark. In most cases I don't think a scientist's sexual orientation is needed in a Wikipedia article - after all, we don't mention those who are heterosexual. However, in this case, I think it should be included, because it is part if what she is known for. For example, this newsletter says she received an award from an organization of gay and lesbian scientists, and apparently she gave a speech at their conference, and the Science article says that she speaks about it publicly. Consumer Project Consultation

Hi Anne - I'm working on a project with a couple friends to crowd-source information about consumer brands to allow people to more easily make informed purchases. We're planning to have an administrator community on the site, but haven't worked out exactly how it should function yet. You obviously have significant experience in site administration. Hello, Megaryel. I presume that this is not about Wikipedia. I think you have the wrong person. A site like that would need responsive web design, and a sophisticated relational database management system for creating dynamic web pages, and serious data analysis algorithms to process the data you collect and allow prospective purchasers to compare products. Me, I'm a musician and retired librarian. Hi! yep our team is currently working on all those things. What I'm interested in talking to you about is more the admin experience.
